Summary

The role is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding individual to join the Philanthropy and Partnerships team at Diabetes UK. With more people living with diabetes and millions more at risk of developing Type 2, our work has never been more needed. You will lead on prospect research and pipeline management across the Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team, developing a clear strategy that focuses on sourcing prospective donors to fund key priority projects. You will be the overall stewardship lead for the team, overseeing and enabling excellent stewardship - including the creation of materials and delivery of events. You will lead on ensuring compliance with fundraising best practice and will introduce new processes to enhance our efficiency and impact as team. You will lead a function that offers critical expertise and resource to drive income growth, now and in the future.

Main Responsibilities

In this role you will:

• Act as the strategic lead for prospecting and data and information management that underpins all of the Philanthropy and Partnerships teams activities working closely with external partners and internal stakeholders.
• Design and implement innovative and data driven strategies for prospect research, moves management, partnership approval and pipeline development
• Develop and deliver an exceptional stewardship programme, encompassing donor communications, events and impact reporting
• Evaluate and provide critical analysis of fundraising and prospecting activity to deliver actionable insight, process innovation and project management
• Line manage a small team focussing on donor communications, events and prospect research
• You will also be responsible for motivating a small team and actively engage with the wider philanthropy and partnerships team, other directorates and external audiences to maximise opportunities for collaboration and growth.

The role will:

• lead on managing financial sustainability and the assets of the organisation
• ensure compliance to all law and regulation relating to charity finance

Finance duties

• Work with the CEO to ensure good financial practices in place and bring to the immediate attention of the CEO, SLT, the Finance & HR Committee (FHRC) and Trustees, as appropriate, any and all areas of financial and risk control.
• Manage the overall financial strategy, preparing 3-year plans, budgets, forecasts & monthly management accounts which are prepared accurately and delivered in a timely manner.
• Produce and monitor a cash flow forecast and highlight any risks to the organisation.
• Monitor and explain variances and ensure timely action to correct any issues.

Music and Performing Arts Coordinator

We are seeking a Music and Performing Arts Coordinator to lead on the planning and delivery of a varied, creative, dynamic, safe and youth-focused music and performing arts programme.

About the role:

The role of Music and Performing Arts Coordinator will be delivered through two distinct spaces: The Music Room (including a recording studio) and a Performing Arts Studio. You will work with sessional staff to ensure that these two spaces are well-used and well-maintained. You will also ensure that special projects/events that involve music and performing arts are properly organised and arranged.

We are seeking a Peer Mentoring Coordinator to develop and manage our new LGBTQIA+ Peer Mentoring Programme, training and supporting Project Indigo members to train as mentors and deliver mentoring sessions with younger LGBTQIA+ people in the local community.  You will enrich Project Indigo’s holistic offer by providing young people with the opportunity to access training, qualifications and work experience while receiving high quality support tailored to their needs.

Off Centre is a service that provides a range of targeted mental health focused support services to young people aged 16 to 25 who registered with a City and Hackney GP.  These include: individual, counselling and psychotherapy, individual and group art psychotherapy, key-work support, out of hours drop-in service on Thursday evenings, targeted provision for children and young people of African, Caribbean and mixed heritage (ACH), and an Information and Advice provision.

PA duties  

• To support Area Deans with the administrative aspects of the Hackney and Islington Projects: Hackney Area Dean oversees the catholic mission stream of work

• To support the Area Dean with administration related to their parish and deanery responsibilities in partnership with local colleagues, ensuring that all documents and briefing materials are prepared and collated.

• Dealing sensitively and confidentially with mail, email and telephone calls. To respond as far as possible on the Area Dean’s behalf, and, where appropriate, draft emails and letters.

General Duties  

• To develop and maintain efficient filing systems, both in hard copy and electronically.

• To be responsible for the ordering of office supplies and equipment.

Support to Mission Project  

• Assist the Area Dean with organising meetings with colleagues, planning mission and training events

• Liaise with the Archdeacon and Dean of Mission and Associate Area Dean

• Communications with the Stepney Area Team.

• Provide administrative support to the Parish and Deanery (rotas, minutes, agendas etc) in a way that releases capacity of the ministry of the Area Dean

Bonsucro is the global sustainability platform and standard for sugarcane. Our purpose is to collectively accelerate the sustainable production and uses of sugarcane. We work with people and organisations across the sugarcane supply chain, including small scale farmers and some of the world’s biggest brands.

Climate change, human rights, farmer livelihoods, women’s empowerment, pesticide reduction, and water use are some of the issues that Bonsucro works on. As our Communications and Events Manager you will be expected to create narratives on these issues and link this to Bonsucro’s work on standards and certification,  market development and collective action.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in strategy, planning and delivery of communications and events in a comparable organisation. About the Investment Team

The Investment Team is responsible for selecting charity partners, managing our charity investments and supporting our charity partners to improve and scale their impact.

The Investment Team also leads the Impetus Leadership Academy, a leadership development programme to support talent from ethnic minority backgrounds in the UK youth sector to progress into senior leadership roles.

The team is made up of 18 people, including former teachers, charity chief executives, charity impact leads, management consultants, social investment portfolio managers and impact consultants.

The team is led by a Portfolio Director who sits on the Senior Management Team. The Portfolio Director has 5 direct reports: a Deputy Portfolio Director, three Sector Leads (who lead our work in School engagement, School attainment and Employment Sectors) and an Impact Lead. Sector Leads line manage 6 Investment Directors. Investment Directors line manage Investment Managers (currently 5). Investment Directors and Investment Managers tend to primarily focus on a sector but might have mixed portfolios, depending on need, experience and interest.

Job description – Investment Director

The Investment Director (ID) is a key member of the Investment Team, playing a leading role in identifying, assessing, and supporting portfolio partner charities and other non-profit organisations to deepen their impact and scale their outcomes. This role works closely with other Investment Directors and Investment Managers to deliver external facing support to portfolio partners as well as internal projects to support the development of the investment model and portfolio strategy.

Investment Directors use strategic thinking, analytical rigour, and senior relationship skills to support a portfolio of amazing organisations that, together, will help shift the life chances and outcomes of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds in the UK.

Key responsibilities

Finding high potential charities and non-profit partners for our portfolio

• Identifying potential charitable organisations for investment.
• Leading in-depth due diligence process to assess and build partnership foundations with potential partners – covering leadership and governance, and their impact, scale, and partnership potential.
• Modelling from first contact of origination, our approach to engaged and trust-based investment management support.
• Developing and championing high quality investment propositions to our Investment Committee.

Managing partnerships with portfolio partners

• Managing relationships with partner Chairs and CEOs 
• Agreeing Service Funding Agreements, including appropriate annual investment milestones to allow for a clear assessment of re-investment potential at end of phase
