We’re looking for a talented and knowledgeable Senior Research Grants Project Officer to join our Research Team.  You’ll have experience working in research/grant funding and management, and project management in a health research environment.  You’ll require excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.  You’ll be a problem solver with the ability to convey complex technical information to a non-specialist audience.  You’ll also need strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and manage your workload to meet strict deadlines. 

About the role

This is an exciting time to join Myeloma UK as we launch our new five year strategy. 

Our portfolio of grant funded research programmes and projects play an important role in achieving our strategic objectives.  These programmes aim to discover and share new knowledge, support the development of clinical trials and answer questions of unmet need in myeloma. 

The postholder will ensure the development and effective management of the grants portfolio in line with Myeloma UK procedures, ensuring compliance with AMRC guidelines and charity finance requirements.  You’ll ensure grant holders deliver on contractual milestones, manage high level relationships with Principal Investigators and will work closely with the Research Advisory Group and any other specialist groups as required. 

You will also work with other teams across Myeloma UK to help inform and update our supporter audience on the funded research programme and other research issues.

We are looking someone who will thrive in a varied and innovative role as a Project Worker in the Adult and Family Learning team working across our centres in Govan and Maryhill (Glasgow) with frequent travel Craigmillar (Edinburgh). This is a new and exciting team at the charity, focusing on how we can offer additional impactful support in the local communities in which our Scotland centres are based. The Adult and Family Learning team will work in close collaboration with colleagues at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The pilot will focus on supporting the parents, carers and families of young people accessing the centres, with the potential for this to extend to wider adults in the community. As a Project Worker you will deliver the programme and support the Adult and Family Learning Manager to plan and develop activities tailored according to and with an understanding of the different communities in which it will be offered. Working with colleagues based at the three centres, you will provide a range of activities which will support parents and carers to support their children in their learning, develop their own skills and knowledge around employment and education, and provide a range of family learning activities to engage the whole family together.

Some out-of-hours work will be required from time to time. This is a new project and the team will be developing programmes for parents and carers, which may result, for example, in some workshops running during the evening for a set of period of time (with a later start on the day of the workshop).

Programme delivery staff are based at one of our IntoUniversity learning centres and work directly with young people and families on a regular basis. It is therefore not a hybrid role and is based full-time in our centres.

£27,400 per annum

One of the IntoUniversity centres in Glasgow, with frequent travel between Glasgow and Edinburgh for this role.

Working with young people in a variety of educational settings, St. Giles’ SOS+ Service delivers early intervention work, through one-to-one mentoring and preventative sessions on violence,

vulnerability and exploitation.  The mission of SOS+ is to prevent children and young people becoming involved in gangs and youth violence by equipping them with tools, knowledge and support delivered by experts with lived experience. 

About this key role

Our successful candidate will coordinate bookings for London and South-East regional projects and oversee staff members that deliver facilitation sessions and volunteers, plus monitor deliverables for all designated projects, escalating to managers any barriers to deliverables being met.  You will also be expected to line manage facilitators and volunteer staff members, providing regular supervisions and daily contact, advice, and guidance, and to oversee their movements, personal development plans, and ensure staff receive appropriate training to further their development. 

We will also count on you to respond to information request emails and phone calls about the service, providing high-quality and tailored responses, to oversee the management of the service movements and to liaise with partners and funders, gathering information where required, explaining the SOS+ service offers and attending partnership meetings to report back on the progress of projects.  Supporting the SOS+ Service Team Leaders to develop content and disseminate information to professionals is also an essential aspect of this role.

• Personal experience of the criminal justice system or/and lived experience of the issues facing this client group (i.e., involved in gangs or knife crime) and/or experience of working within the Criminal Justice Sector

• Some experience line-managing or supervising staff/volunteers

Barnardo's Community Wellbeing Mentors hold a caseload of up to 10 children and young people (aged 6-18 years old) providing early intervention to those who are experiencing poor emotional health and wellbeing either on a 1:1 or group basis. This support can take place at the young persons home, at their school or a community venue.

Senior Project Officer, Active Travel

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Strategic Partnerships team, working in partnership with Scottish Borders Council to facilitate a strategic approach to active travel infrastructure development and delivery in the council area, as well as providing support with active travel policies and proposals for the council's planning and pipeline projects.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will be working in partnership with external organisations and across council departments to identify and develop opportunities for investment in active travel. This may involve conducting assist research to demonstrate demand for investment in active travel infrastructure.

This role will involve regular travel most weeks. The focus of this role will be across the Scottish Borders Council area. We may occasionally need you travel further during the course of your work including occasional visits to Sustrans Offices and overnights stays.

About you

You should have experience in (at least) one of the following: transport planning, land use planning, urban design, traffic engineering, sustainable transport project delivery. 

You will also be experienced in working with partners across various teams, and able to build strong working relationships.

You should have the ability to work independently and be able to make decisions with minimal supervision, as well as have excellent report writing skills.

Floating Support Workers in the Westminster Service will be part of a large, dynamic team providing an effective and empowering service to vulnerable clients across a variety of tenures.

The Westminster Floating Support Service is funded by the Westminster Council to provide flexible housing related support in order to enable Clients to continue to live independently within their own home, regardless of tenure type. The service is delivered in a manner that is respectful of service user’s racial, cultural and/or religious backgrounds and respects individual dignity. The support provision operates as part of an overall network of support and care for clients working closely with other professionals involved in the support and care of the individual.

About you:

• Understanding of how to support clients to carry out tasks such as budgeting, calculating benefit entitlements and understanding rent arrears and housing options.
• Experience of working in a client-centred support service working with vulnerable people presenting significant levels of need and risk, with an ability to devise and deliver on action plans through high quality risk management and needs assessment.
• A demonstrable level of experience and/or understanding of the range of approaches appropriate to working with issues such as substance use, mental and physical ill health, dual diagnosis, challenging behaviour, risk of homelessness, offending, antisocial behaviour, social isolation, domestic violence, gang-related issues, young parents, leaving care and learning disabilities.

• The ability to use a computer to input data accurately, to communicate effectively through emails and to produce good quality minutes of meetings, client notes, letters and reports.

We’re recruiting for a Fundraising Project Lead to join Samaritans. You’ll work in a small & friendly team to lead and deliver a programme of virtual fundraising challenges  and with plans to grow our current virtual flagship event to include an in-person element. You’ll lead a  ‘best in class’ stewardship programme, with engaging content and communications that support participants to maximise their fundraising and build lasting relationships with Samaritans.

You’ll have previous event management or community fundraising experience, within the charity sector. You’ll have experience of managing moderating an online community and excellent project management and written communication skills.

We’re looking for a creative individual with a growth mindset, who thinks outside the box, brings new ideas to our event portfolio and can tailor their creativity to suit different audiences/groups.  We want our events to stand out in a crowded marketplace so we are looking to think differently about how we deliver our events and provide best-in-class supporter stewardship and a great supporter experience.

This role will deliver exceptional supporter experiences that build a sense of community and maximise supporter's potential to raise money and awareness for Samaritans, from an annual programme of mass participation fundraising challenges. 

Over the past five years we’ve taken a test and learn approach to product development, significantly growing our income, and with exciting plans in 2024/25 this is set to continue. The Person

We are looking for a people person with the ability to lead, develop and support large groups of fundraisers. You’ll have exceptional project and time management skills. You’ll need to be an excellent communicator, be adaptable to changing priorities and have a good understanding of online communities and digital fundraising. You’ll have experience of working with charity supporters in a fundraising environment and an understanding of databases and processes.

Substance Misuse Project Worker - part time

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.  

This role sits within our children and young people's directorate, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country.  

We are currently looking for a child-centred practitioner to join our dynamic, ambitious team.  

A key part of this role will be your ability to ensure that all young people in contact with the service are assessed and treated for identified drugs/alcohol problems.  

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:  

-A knowledge of substance misuse and awareness of national and local initiatives 

-Knowledge of child adolescent development and person centred interventions 

-Knowledge of relevant drug prevention and harm minimisation strategies to all referred young people

About Women in Prison

Women in Prison is a national, women-led, feminist organisation. We deliver front line support to women harmed by the criminal justice system, through our work in prisons, in the community and ‘through the prison gate’ as they resettle back into their communities. We also campaign for systems change that addresses the root causes of offending, reduces the harmful impact of prison, and creates workable, community-based alternatives to imprisonment.

Job Purpose:

WomenMATTA delivers innovative services to women in Manchester and Trafford who are in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with, the criminal justice system. This includes one to one practical and emotional support, advocacy, and group work.

This post is two-fold; the post holder will provide in-depth, ongoing support to a caseload of complex cases, in addition to supporting the WomenMATTA Programme Manager with the operational management of the Programme, including the the coordination of the ‘Women’s Hubs’. The post holder will manage direct reports who operate as frontline staff across Manchester and Trafford.

1. Support with the operational management of the WomenMATTA Programme ensuring high quality, trauma responsive services are delivered to women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with, the criminal justice system.
2. Provide effective leadership to the WomenMATTA team, fostering a positive and supportive culture.
3. Provide high-quality, trauma-responsive advocacy and support to a caseload of women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with the criminal justice system.
4. Monitor case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording, aligning with contract KPIs and WIP policies.

Women in Prison’s Project Workers deliver high-quality, trauma-informed, independent advocacy for women in communities and in prisons, which focuses on early intervention, and holistic provision as part of a ‘whole system’ multi-agency response that looks to address the root causes of women’s offending.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide in-depth, ongoing support to a caseload of women in the community of Manchester and Trafford, whilst delivering regular workshops to women in the community.

1. Provide high-quality, trauma-responsive advocacy and support to a caseload of women in contact with, or at risk of being in contact with the criminal justice system.
2. Undertake risk and needs assessments and co-producing bespoke support plans with women across the nine pathways to reoffending.
3. Monitor case management systems to ensure accurate and timely data recording, aligning with contract KPIs and WIP policies.
4. Champion the core values of Women in Prison, including social justice and feminism in all internal and external communications, articulating their importance to the work we do.

HR / Payroll System Implementation Project Manager

Birmingham base - Hybrid  

£47,000 per annum, Excellent benefits and leave 

Fixed Term Contract – 15 months Maternity Cover

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated HR Systems Project & Implementation Manager to join a busy, friendly, supportive, HR team.  You will be responsible for the implementation of our clients new HR Core, Onboarding and Payroll systems, designing, configuring and testing of processes for seamless transition to the new HR system.

This is an important role for the Trust, and a unique opportunity for a highly motivated individual to deliver all three systems on time and in line with requirements. 

With proven technical expertise in HR technology implementation, configuration and data management (preferably IRIS Cascade), you will collaborate with HR subject matter experts to create streamlined workflow automation process maps to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption to users.  You will possess proven project management skills in system implementation, together with a sound knowledge of HR policy, processes and procedures and how these adapt to workflows in the system.

A strong communicator, you will be able to convey complex information to diverse audiences, together with experience of collaborating with multiple stakeholders at all levels of the business, as well as external system providers.  You need to have experience of project management methodology to track progress and writing highlight reports for senior management. You will also have sound experience of payroll systems, preferably IRIS Cascade.

As well as advanced proficiency in IT and excellent MS Office skills, you will also possess an enquiring mind to identify user requirements together with strong organisational and time management skills.

You will be CIPD qualified and ideally hold a Bachelor’s degree in HR Management Information Systems, or Data Analytics but this is not essential. 

This is a hybrid role. Thrir modern office is based in Birmingham, and you will need to be flexible on the days you attend per week.
