About The London Library
The London Library is one of the UK’s greatest literary institutions, providing a centre of creativity, inspiration and ideas for over 180 years. Well-known members and frequent borrowers have included Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, Bram Stoker, Virginia Woolf, EM Forster, Daphne du Maurier, TS Eliot, Muriel Spark, Angela Carter, AS Byatt, and Ian Fleming. 13 winners of the Nobel Prize for Literature have been members. Current writers in membership include Sir Kazuo Ishiguro, Sir Tom Stoppard, Raymond Antrobus, Sir Simon Schama, Jessie Burton and Sarah Waters. Nearly all of its collection of around one million books can be borrowed with around 5,000 new books being added each year. It also offers a vast eLibrary and invaluable postal loans service. Following a period of growth and development in recent years, The London Library announced in May 2024 a major programme of improvements to its building in St James’s Square. These planned improvements will increase the Library’s public impact by enabling the expansion of its programmes with charitable partners, making the collection more accessible, supporting the needs of the Library’s growing membership, and helping to ensure the long-term sustainability of this leading literary institution.
About the role
As a charitable organisation, our members are essential to sustaining the future of the Library and achieving our new five-year strategy.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and self-motivated membership marketer with excellent communication and copywriting skills to help improve member engagement and retention and grow membership at the Library.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will join a small and busy team in the Membership department. You will implement compelling member-facing marketing communications, activities and campaigns across digital and print platforms that engage member audiences and drive retention rates and growth in line with the retention plan and the Library’s strategic goals.
Supporting the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will work with an external producer and colleagues across the organisation to deliver The London Library Magazine two/three times a year. You will also design, deliver and analyse e-communications using our CRM and email software and identify opportunities to improve communication content and performance, organise member events, meet our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion aims, and act as first port of call for the media and communications function.
About you
Passionate about creating engaging copy for different audiences and channels, you will have a good level of experience with e-communications, e-software, data reporting and CRMs. You will have a background in membership marketing, ideally within an arts/cultural or charity organisation, and experience in implementing marketing retention campaigns to meet set targets. You will also have experience assisting with the delivery of events and be available to work at Library events as needed.
You will have strong writing skills with attention to detail and an ability to identify and produce engaging stories. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be organised and plan workload effectively to meet deadlines, and able to adapt to changing priorities as necessary. You will enjoy working as part of a team while also able to work independently, taking initiative and holding yourself accountable to tasks. Most importantly, you will have a passion for your work, literature, reading and writing, and the work of The London Library; to inspire new ideas that create a unique impact on the UK’s literary and artistic output.

ReMind UK is a cutting-edge research and treatment centre located in Bath, working in both clinical trial and academic research. We are an independent charity focused on essential research and provide support for people with dementia and other conditions of older age, their families and carers; dedicated to improving the quality of life of everyone involved. Our contracted NHS Memory Clinic service and post diagnosis activities also provide support to patients, families and carers.
ReMind UK has recently undergone a major rebrand and was formerly known as RICE – The Research Institute for the Care of Older people and you may see both names used in relation to this role and our wider activities during the phased transition.
THE ROLE
The role would suit an experienced bookkeeper/finance officer who is able to and enjoys working with colleagues across a multi-disciplinary team. You will run our day-to-day finance functions in Xero, and its associated apps (Dext, Approval Max, Apron), and the monthly payroll in Sage working closely with the Manager. You will need experience of working in a busy finance function and have an ability to work on your own and to deliver competing priorities to deadlines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ownership and management of the general ledger.
- Assist with the production of the management accounts preparation (prepayments, accruals, depreciation, monthly journals, deferred and accrued income)
- Obtaining authorisation from budget holders for expenditure using the Apps and managing the organisational purchase order system.
- Cash Management – Prepare and plan payments within timescales of Suppliers via BACS and monitor cash balances across accounts
- Accurate and timely processing of Invoices within accounting system Xero and associated Apps ensuring correct VAT categorisations.
- Process and pay staff and volunteer expenses in line with company policies.
- Managing Petty Cash transactions and reconciling within the accounting system.
- Issue sales invoices to customers based on services provided and track income from Clinical Trials, academic grants and charity grants and invoice accordingly.
- Reconciling all the bank statements within the accounting system.
- Prepare for banking and deposit cash and cheques received on a regular basis.
- Focal point of contact for any finance queries.
- Sales and purchase ledger credit control and maintaining suppliers’ information.
- Prepare, reconcile, and submit quarterly and annual VAT returns.
- Account and reconcile all fundraising income between Xero and Beacon.
- Prepare, reconcile, and submit quarterly Gift Aid returns using Beacon.
- Assist with preparation of monthly payroll using Sage, ensuring timely payments to staff, HMRC, and pension provider.
- Maintain the fixed asset registers including depreciation.
- Assist with the annual statutory account preparation ensuring invoices are correctly filed and ready for inspection.
- Provide ad hoc support to the finance manager when required.
- Support with the development of new systems and procedures
PROFESSIONAL & EDUCATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Keep up to date with financial developments and best practice for companies, charities and not-for-profit organisations
- Comply with all ReMind UK policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and mandatory training requirements.
- Actively pursue training opportunities in Charity Finance, VAT Legislation and other relevant areas.

Community Researcher

Waythrough’s vision is to break down the barriers that stop people getting the support they need to live a life they value. They tackle poverty and disadvantage in communities, through mental health, drug and alcohol, housing and related support.
The Role
To support the organisation’s participation in 2 research projects exploring Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities understanding of mental well-being and suicide with a view to improving access for support in these areas for the GRT community. The role will be centred on fieldwork with the GRT community in County Durham and to support the Research Team and the organisation’s Research and Development Co-ordinator in all aspects of the research projects.
- To develop and deliver community-based research activities with the support of the Research and Development Co-ordinator alongside their Housing Support Team on Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in County Durham on themes around mental health including suicide.
- Develop, facilitate and present research outputs from the project and share with project stakeholders and in Humankind to demonstrate the evidence base about this work and the need for further development of services. This could include writing a blog, delivering presentations or participating in webinars.
- Analyse and synthesise both qualitative and quantitative data generated by research and evaluation projects to support colleagues in service modelling and design.
- Support the Research and Development Co-ordinator in meetings as required.

About the role
According to Shelter, currently one in every 206 people in England are without a home. We believe the church is ideally placed to be at the forefront of addressing this critical need. Our mission at Hope into Action is to enable the local church to house the homeless and we’re looking for a Team Lead to strengthen and guide our team in Peterborough.
Hours are negotiable but will either be 4 or 5 days a week (32 or 40 hours). You will be based in the Hope into Action Hope Centre working alongside the Peterborough team and rest of Support Centre.
You will lead the current team of 6 staff to provide temporary, supported accommodation to over 40 men, women and children across 17 homes in Peterborough.
Whilst managing the team in the daily tasks you will also work to strengthen relationships with external agencies, local authorities and agree a strategic vision for the future of the project in line with your line manager (Head of Delivery & Training). There will be a budget to adhere to and goals set in terms of void expectation and tenant finances, additionally every member of the team has annual objectives which seek to give clarity and motivation to their role.
Each home is partnered with a local church who provide love and friendship for the tenants that you will also support. A part of the Team Lead’s role is to actively engage with the church and empower your team to do likewise. The role includes training, equipping, and encouraging staff to extol professional excellence and spiritual passion whilst also supporting church volunteers in their role as befrienders to the tenants.
Our tenants will have experienced homelessness and present with a variety of support needs. You, your team and your church partners will work together to empower every individual tenant to reach their full potential, take responsibility and step bolder into a brighter future where they’re confident and able to advocate for themselves and ensure they live the life they deserve.

Following expert consultation, we are now seeking an experienced, solution-focussed Head of Finance and IT to join our Senior Management Team. This role oversees the financial operations and drives the development of our integrated IT strategy, ensuring first-class financial and IT service across the organisation.

Role Summary
The main function of the Careers Coordinator role is to develop, support and deliver Into Film’s Screen Careers Programme. The post holder will work closely with the Careers Lead, Industry Partnerships Lead and other members of Into Film staff who conceive, create and deliver our Screen Careers Programme.
Alongside internal teams including Marcomms, the Careers Coordinator will develop content that supports careers professionals, teachers, young people and their parents, ensuring they can access what they need to become aware of the breadth of screen careers and how children and young people might go about entering these industries.
The Careers Coordinator will manage various deliverables across the programme including but not limited to work experience pilots directly with young people, development of resources and training for careers professionals, and speaking slots at careers conferences UK-wide. The role will have a focus on reaching those young people who are underserved and under-represented.
Main Responsibilities:
- As directed by the Careers Lead, support the implementation of the Screen Careers Programme Plan through colleagues, partners and supporters.
- Project manage the work experience deliverable alongside the local Activation Coordinators.
- Assist the Careers Lead and UK-wide activation team to plan and deliver Screen Careers events.
- Support the Learning Content Creation team with the development of Screen Careers resources, training and courses.
- Support the Careers Lead and Industry Partnerships Lead to manage stakeholders and industry partner relationships utilising our Customer Relationship Management tool, Salesforce.
- Generate ideas and organise existing content for the Get Into Film social media channels and young people hub on the Into Film website.
- Monitor content about careers on our resources, training programme and website to ensure that it's up to date and remains relevant.
- Monitor and evaluate the programme utilising internal and external feedback to help shape future Screen Careers annual programme plans.
- Contribute to quarterly reports to funders and the Into Film board.
- Any other reasonable duties assigned by Into Film.
General Responsibilities:
- Commitment to quality internally and in all dealings with Into Film’s stakeholders including teachers, children and young people, industry partners, funders, supporters, parents and carers, and members of the public.

- At least one year's experience working in careers, education or the screen industries.

- Experience, knowledge and understanding of the screen industries across the UK.
- Organisational project management skills, strong communication style and the ability to juggle multiple projects.

- Experience of event management and high-profile engagement.
- Knowledge of fundraising and how Into Film’s careers work could feed into successful applications.

We are currently seeking a proactive and compassionate individual to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for reaching out to individuals affected by spinal cord injury who have engaged with our services. Through structured telephone calls, you will introduce them to our Mentoring Service where applicable, and direct them to our other services, sources of information and support where appropriate.
Additionally, you will assist the team when required in matching individuals with suitable mentors and gathering feedback to measure impact.
As a Mentoring Referrals Coordinator, you will be motivated to meet goals related to high-quality referrals and matches. You will also be comfortable managing data efficiently and ensuring GDPR compliance.
