Drinkaware is a leading charity concerned with reducing harm from alcohol. We do this by providing impartial, evidence-based information and advice and practical resources; raising awareness of alcohol harms; and working in partnership with others to deliver behaviour change through our tools and interventions. The Trust is funded primarily through voluntary, unrestricted donations from alcohol producers, wholesalers, and on- and off-trade retailers, but acts entirely independently.

Purpose of the role

The Alcohol Behavioral Change Specialist is responsible for collaboratively designing and implementing, evidence-based programmes applying appropriate behavioural change models aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm, and promoting long-term behavioral change related to alcohol consumption.

As a leading charity focused on alcohol harm reduction, the postholder will be Drinkaware’s internal expert regarding alcohol harm to individuals and will have a good understanding of brief interventions, as well as information, advice and guidance including quality assurance across our work. They will work across the organisation providing expert advice and guidance.

This role requires a deep understanding of psychological theories, behavioral science, and addiction, along with practical experience in behavioral interventions. 

The Partnerships Executive plays a key role in giving people around the world the chance to read, learn and grow. The successful candidate will be responsible for selecting suitable books for our partners, coordinating book orders with our Operations Team, and ensuring accurate and timely documentation to support shipments.

You will maintain up-to-date records, handle enquiries, and work closely with our global partners to build and sustain meaningful relationships. The role also involves helping to identify and onboard new partners and sharing valuable insights across our organisation. Strong communication, excellent IT skills, and a collaborative mindset are essential for success in this role.

Senior Philanthropy Manager

The Christie Charity is a vibrant, fast moving, energetic organisation with a passionate team and a fantastic reputation. We are looking for an experienced, dynamic senior philanthropy manager to join our philanthropy team. We require someone who has demonstrable experience in philanthropy fundraising or has strong transferable skills. It is desirable that you have experience in managing people as this role manages a philanthropy fundraiser.

As a Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will play a key role in maximising charitable income for The Christie Charity, through high-net-worth individuals by building with authentic, sustainable relationships.

We’re looking for a Stories and Media Manager to join our team

Salary: Circa £40,000

Base: Central Edinburgh/hybrid

Hours: Full time and permanent.  Working 35 hours a week over core working hours of 10am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. The office is open 8am - 7pm daily and our hybrid working policy requires all full-time employees to work at least two days a week in the Edinburgh office.

To help start new cancer cures and save lives, we are looking for a Stories and Media Manager to join the Brand & Communications team at Worldwide Cancer Research, to help the charity run its multi-million-pound funding programme for discovery cancer research.

Overall purpose of the role

The Senior Communications Manager is responsible for delivering exceptional communications to enhance Orbis UK's profile in both the UK and the Middle East. The position is responsible for implementing strategic plans for UK and Middle East audiences, while supporting the Media and PR Manager in boosting Orbis UK's brand presence. The role also includes leading reputation and crisis management responses and plans.

The Media and PR Manager reports directly to this position, and together, they will collaborate to deliver effective communications plans. There will also be opportunities to work with the wider Orbis UK communications team on cross-departmental campaigns, appeals, and events, including VIP visits and integrated marketing campaigns.

This role encompasses communications planning, media relations, stakeholder management, reputation management, copywriting, and at times, event coordination. It requires strong relationship-building skills and the ability to manage projects across different teams and countries. The role is responsible for three key areas of work:

i) Overseeing the delivery of the media and PR strategy to increase brand awareness of Orbis within the UK and the Middle East through pitching and placement of high-quality media coverage, proactive PR initiatives and reactive press office opportunities within a range of publications that align with our target audiences and partnerships. This will include managing the Media and PR Manager, working with key stakeholders such as the Royal Press Office and key funding and programme partners, and supporting delivery of Orbis UK integrated marketing campaigns

About Woman's Trust

Woman’s Trust was established almost thirty years ago and is the leading specialist in mental health services for women. Led by and for women, it aims to ensure that women affected by domestic abuse can live a safe and healthy life, free from further harm. About the role

As our Temporary Finance Manager, you will be managing a finance assistant and will be part of our organisation’s Senior Leadership Team, helping to collaboratively shape and steer the charity as we work towards our 2022 - 2027 strategy. The Finance Manager is at the heart of Woman’s Trust; you will play an essential role and have oversight of not just the finance team – you will have direct exposure to CEO/Board Members and decision-making for the future of the organisation.

We are looking for a highly motived Temporary Finance Manager with demonstrable experience working in a similar senior level role. You’ll be a fully or part qualified accountant e.g. CIMA/ACA/ACCA/Cipfa, with a thorough understanding of charity accounting.

Lia's Wings are looking to appoint a Fundraising Manager into a brand new role, at an incredibly exciting time for the charity. As the only aeroplane ambulance charity for children in the UK, we are experiencing a period of phenomenal growth, with incredible opportunities and potential for fundraising. 

Being responsible for the management and delivery of our challenge events, special events and community fundraising activities, this role will involve working with some of our most committed supporters on a series of engaging (and fun) events that are continuing to grow year on year. The Fundriasing Manager will also be expected to support our corporate partners, and engage with our Family Fundraising efforts, giving them the opportunity to meet, and work with our incredible beneficiaries first-hand. 

A hybrid role: this post will be mostly remote but will involve travelling to regular (fortnightly) team meetings in central London (Zone 1), or, our operating base at Biggin Hill Airport, and, to manage events across the UK throughout the year. 

The perfect candidate for this role will have experience of managing various types of fundraising events, but first and foremost, we are looking for a consummate fundraiser who is passionate about stewarding fundraisers. We are looking for a fundraiser who can think outside the box, solve problems, and support supporters, donors and fundraisers of all levels, to ensure we maximise every opportunity we receive. 

Reporting to the Head of Fundraising, this role will be integral to the growth of Lia's Wings, and is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a role at a small charity, where their efforts will make a real difference.

Over the last year we have had more people than ever before hoping to fundraise for Lia’s Wings, which has given rise to some fantastic new events being created (led by the charity), alongside several wonderful community-led partnerships with schools and social clubs around the UK.

Every year we also have a great uptake in classic charity challenges taking place both in the UK, and overseas, including the London Landmarks and Royal Parks Half Marathon, and the Berlin and Chicago Marathons. We have also had great success delivering our own, bespoke charity challenges, which we hope will continue into the future. For 2025, we are due to complete the second instalment of an annual Lia’s Wings Overseas Cycle Challenge, a Shark dive, Skydive and three peaks challenges, amongst many others, which this role would be expected to lead on, and develop for years to come.

Corporate Partnerships are one of our key income streams, with employees from dozens of companies supporting our events efforts. As well as managing these events, there would be a certain level of devolved account management with these partners, with the post holder becoming the primary point of contact for those firms.

We also have a growing network of community groups – including schools and social groups – who want to support Lia’s Wings as a partner charity. It is an area we would love to expand, with this role being crucial to the ongoing development of these areas.

And finally: for the past two years we have we also hosted a seasonal thank you party each Christmas (our “Jingle and Mingle”) which we hope will be another fantastic opportunity that can be developed by the right person in this role, as a real jewel in the crown of our events portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• To manage our Challenge, Community, and Special Event fundraising streams, to achieve set targets.
• To grow income sustainably from our existing portfolio of events, ensuring continued high performance, engagement, and participation.
• To design, develop, and deliver new events that are suitable for our primary supporter audiences, alongside the Head of Fundraising.
• To effectively steward fundraisers to ensure an excellent supporter experience (resulting in positive fundraising performance, and repeat year on year participation), including appropriate thanking and recognition, reporting, and feedback on outcomes of events.
• To assume account management responsibility for smaller corporate and community partnerships (primarily engaged with the charity through events fundraising)
• To ensure a strong (in-person) team and volunteer presence at events.

• To support our Family Support Team with the delivery of our Family Fundraising programme
• To build strong relationships with existing and potential stake holders, including event committees, and Trustees of the charity.

• To manage all stock, consumables and promotional items related to these areas of fundraising.
• To maintain comprehensive recording-keeping relating to these areas of fundraising with existing tools including our CRM system, Salesforce.
• To attend fortnightly team meetings (in person) in London, and to attend other compulsory training days or events as required
• To support the Head of Engagement in preparing digital assets, including news pieces, photography, videography, and fundraiser case studies for our website and social media
• To ensure all practices meet statutory legislation requirements including the Data Protection Act, and Fundraising Code of Practice.
• To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post that by be required by the Head of Fundraising, including supporting the fundraising team with other in-person events throughout the year as they arise.

The Individual Giving Manager will contribute towards Ex Cathedra’s ongoing sustainability and success by maximising philanthropic income:

Strategy and research

• build, maintain and continually seek to expand a pipeline of prospects capable of making gifts at a high 4-, 5- and 6-figure level, making sure that all progress is tracked, monitored and reviewed on a routine basis

• explore our existing data to identify major gift prospects, working in line with data protection law and fundraising regulations

Individual giving

• work closely with the General Manager and Individual Giving Officer to further develop and implement strategies that will increase major gifts and legacy donations to Ex Cathedra, dovetailing with the Trusts and Foundations consultant where appropriate

• arrange and conduct face-to-face meetings with prospects and donors to help build and progress meaningful relationships through regular dialogue

• use their judgement to involve the artistic director, trustees and colleagues where most beneficial/advantageous

• align prospective donors with high-value funding opportunities for the performance programme, education and participation work, or area of greatest need according to the interests of the donor

• meet agreed targets for activity (i.e. number of prospect meetings and solicitations) and income generation (i.e. funds raised)

• personally manage the portfolio of higher level donors and prospective donors.

Communications

• manage the delivery of specific appeals to prospects and donors

• work with the General Manager and freelance designer to devise and produce materials in support of Ex Cathedra’s fundraising aims

• create and refresh inspiring copy for inclusion in print, on our website and other relevant materials

Other

• record and maintain progress, ensuring that income can be projected as accurately as possible, liaising with the Finance Manager as appropriate

About you

You will be a skilled fundraiser, able to help us identify, recruit and manage a pipeline of individual donors, capable of giving upwards of £5,000 to support Ex Cathedra’s agreed strategic priorities.

You will join a supportive, dedicated staff team, which includes an Individual Giving Officer and freelance trusts fundraiser plus access to an external mentor if desirable.

Experience

• demonstrable experience in a similar role

• direct experience of securing gifts and donations at 4- and 5-figure level from individuals by initiating, building and stewarding relationships

Knowledge

The Role 

The Clubhouse Social Café Manager will lead on the implementation of the of café (Due to open in October 2024) and will manage the Food and Beverage Operations in line with food, and health and safety regulations. You will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility. 

You  will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the café, providing a diverse of community and health wellbeing projects in collaboration with Trust Senior Manager - Health and Wellbeing. They will also manage and mentor staff and trainees to deliver an effective and inclusive service to customers.

About You 

We are looking for a passionate, inspiring catering/hospitality specialist to lead on training, mentoring and the hospitality operation of our new Clubhouse Café at Gunnersbury Park. The café is part of the new Community Sports hub at the site and will also double as a social and community space linking into community projects for all ages. Projects will include mental and physical health with the space acting as a central meeting/training hub. In this capacity you will work closely with the Trust's Health and Wellbeing Senior Manager. 

We are partnering with the homeless charity Change Please to create a West London training hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and training the café team. Our founder partners in the project are The University of West London (UWL) and the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association Fund. We are linking with the University to offer a range of immersive opportunities for their catering and business students and our Café Manager will link with them on a number of working projects.

The other aspect is the promotion and training in the importance of food, health and performance and the Manager will work with our Trust team to create innovative content and inspiring outreach programmes. Whilst we expect the Manager to have an active interest in food and nutrition, we plan to put some catering support and training in place to support the position.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has appropriate experience to lead the food and beverage side of the operation. They will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility (Due to open in Summer 2025) and the establishment of appropriate operation and health and safety procedures.

We have developed a sustainable business plan, however you will have the opportunity of contributing to the ongoing development plan. We have the benefit of understanding who our customers are, when they are, and even when they will arrive! This will need to be balanced with the social and community programme, and whilst it will be a challenge, it will also make for an enriched role in dealing with a range of people and organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the implementation of the café, including the setup, adherence to food and health safety and regulations, and staffing.
• Development and procurement of suppliers for café to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Contribute to and delivery of project-based business plans as directed by the CEO and Head of Social, Education and Health Hub.
• To  organise and manage the preparation and presentation of food whilst ensuring agreed standards are maintained at all times, and that any special dietary needs are catered for.
• Adherence to HACCP and all other food safety regulations and COSHH regulations., ensuring the statutory requirements are met and all necessary records are maintained.
• Deal with customer feedback in a courteous, efficient and timely manner, monitoring and evaluating this feedback, making appropriate recommendations and taking action for service improvements.
• Working safely with kitchen equipment and ensuring that all other health and safety procedures are followed.
• To maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment in accordance with guidelines.
• To mentor staff, trainees and work experience students in the effective operation of the facility.
• Deliver appropriate training to Clubhouse Café Staff, to foster a culture of excellent customer service.
• Stay informed about safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practices.

Essential Criteria

• Level 1,2 and 3 Food Safety Awards
• Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
• Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
• Experience of kitchen equipment
• Experience as a manager of operations and staff in a food and beverage business.
• Experience as a manager responsible for compliance, particularly health & safety and licensing, as well as finances in a food and beverage business.
• Experience in project management and meeting deadlines.
• Experience of supervising and training small groups of staff
• A working knowledge of budgets and gross profit margins
• Good team player

The Volunteer Relationship Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing and optimising the volunteer programme within the College of Paramedics.

With a focus on enhancing volunteer relationships and strengthening organisational capabilities, you will lead strategic initiatives to help to create a positive, productive, and rewarding experience for volunteers while maximising their contribution to our strategic objectives.

The Volunteer Relationship Manager will be required to:

• Recruitment and Onboarding – Develop best practice volunteer recruitment strategies, conduct interviews and volunteer screening and organise required induction sessions

This role will oversee the administration of legacies, drive the growth of the charity’s Free Wills programme, steward legacy pledgers, and expand in memory fundraising. The Legacy and In Memory Manager will also ensure supporter journeys, audience insight and effective targeting are at the heart of the charity’s programme, working with the Individual Giving and Development Lead to create impactful marketing campaigns across a variety of channels.

In our mission to help change lives and build healthy, resilient communities in Somerset, we are currently recruiting a part time Partnerships Manager (Mental Health). 

Joint funded by Public Health Somerset and Open Mental Health (OMH), the Partnerships Manager will facilitate the Somerset Mental Health Network (SMHN), ensuring that voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups who support the mental wellbeing of people across the county have an informed voice.

The Network will also provide opportunities for the sector to unite and work with other agencies in the promotion of mental health, prevention of mental health problems, and delivery of services.

The successful candidate will work closely with our partners in the OMH Alliance to help strengthen community services, influence and support commissioners, and enable systemic and cultural change in mental health provision across Somerset.

Additionally, the post-holder will conduct regular meetings that enhance knowledge and understanding, and provide collaboration opportunities for VCFSE organisations working to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of others.
