About us
Who we are
Doorway is a registered charity that has operated across Warwickshire since 1997 providing a range of services for young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The benefits of a secure, stable and safe home are well known and access to this is essential for young people who have had adverse life experiences. For 25 years we have been finding suitable accommodation for them through private landlords and other providers such as local authorities and housing associations.
Doorway’s activities are designed to help young people to overcome adverse childhood experiences many of whom are from areas of high deprivation and to move forward positively in their lives. Our services include Advice, Support, Health and Wellbeing and Property services which are closely integrated to provide an inclusive approach to identify positive solutions which encourage independence, build self-esteem and offer opportunities. We are committed to ensuring that we hear the voice of each young person properly so that our activities are appropriate to their individual personalities and situations.
Our culture and values
Our vision is to prevent youth homelessness and minimise its impacts by ensuring that all young people have a safe and secure place to live, a productive fulfilling purpose, positive relationships with others and good health to enjoy them.
- Respect and listening - we respect the life histories of homeless people, believe in their potential and will help them realise their ambitions by listening.
- Excellence and action - we aim for excellent, creative solutions to the changing needs of homeless people and enable them to take appropriate action.
- Diversity and equality - we are richer as a charity and as a society by valuing diversity and striving for equality of outcomes.
- Quality – we aim to provide a robust, young people focused, quality service with dedicated and highly trained staff who listen and give homeless young people a voice and a future.
