INTERIM DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES JOB DESCRIPTION
This is an interim position, but the position will become permanent in due course through a separate recruitment.

Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective management and delivery of WasteAid’s global programme, providing leadership, capacity building and support to WasteAid’s international programme team and ensuring effective resource mobilisation. This role reports to the Director of Programmes and supports that role in scaling, trialling and evolving WasteAid’s current programme approach.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership and Representation
• Provide leadership and supervisory management for WasteAid’s programmes team, including mobilisation and stewardship of resources, programme quality accountability, and performance management.
• Participate actively in country programme management, coordination, and strategy meetings with Director of Programmes and members of the country team.
• Work closely with Finance colleagues to ensure timely budget development, financial planning and cost management.
• Support the Director of Programmes to actively engage with donors, partner organisations and external stakeholders to ensure WasteAid is strongly represented.
• Conduct regular field visits to support programme teams
Supporting Strategic Direction, Program Quality and Growth
• Provide cohesive leadership to WasteAid’s global programme teams ensuring that priorities and opportunities identified are in line with organisational strategy and approach which includes scaling of current programmes and the identification of further areas of intervention.
• Work closely with the Head of Strategy and Impact to support the programme team with regarding tools and strategies to ensure that programming is based on input from communities, local partners and local/national stakeholders, a thorough understanding of the context, and technical best practices
• Work with Director of Programmes and colleagues in the country programme to identify funding opportunities and support the development of competitive, responsive proposals; meet with potential partners (and donors as appropriate) to discuss current and potential funding opportunities.
• Work with the Senior Management Team to develop programme budgets, which reflect a detailed understanding of situational parameters, beneficiary needs, available resources and technical possibilities including partnership capabilities.
• Working collaboratively with the Senior Management Team, support MEAL approaches to adapt and implement appropriate monitoring and evaluation systems that enhance programme quality, increase effectiveness and measure results.
Staff Performance Management and Development
• Supervise and mentor direct-report staff, including communicating clear expectations, setting performance objectives, establishing a supportive environment while emphasizing accountability, providing regular and timely constructive performance feedback, and leading documented semi-annual performance reviews.
• Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
• Promote and monitor staff care and well-being. Model healthy work-life balance practices. Support appropriate interventions in response to identified staff care needs of staff.
• Work with HR to identify and implement recruitment and retention strategies.
Grant Monitoring & Partner Management
• Supervise the Grants Finance Officer.
• Support and supervise implementation of strong Project Management Cycle processes and tools including budgeting and planning and grant meetings such as Budget vs Actuals Meetings, Grant Opening, Mid-Term, and Closing Meetings, ensuring follow up on action points.
• Through the Grants Finance Officer ensure that all programmes are compliant with their respective donor regulations
• Support the Director of Programmes in having a solid partnership strategy for appropriate programmes.
• Ensure programme staff proactively maintain positive relationships with partners, including ongoing capacity building and mentoring,
Job Requirements:
· Educated to degree level, masters in a relevant subject would be desirable.
· At least 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience managing complex international development programming, ideally with a climate or environmental element.
· Demonstrated successful leadership experience managing a multi-disciplinary team and cross-cultural dynamics.
· Strong diplomatic and coordination skills.
· Demonstrated ability for accurate analysis of complex issues, strong decision-making, and translation of programmatic priorities into operational strategies.

Role context:
Cord’s turnover is about £2m a year. About 85% of Cord’s funding is restricted, coming from institutional donors like the EU and the US government, and 15% (about £300K) is unrestricted coming from a committed UK supporter base and other private fundraising streams.

The Finance Manager role is a newly created role which is being introduced to strengthen the organisation’s financial management and control systems. The postholder will work across the breadth of the finance function preparing internal management accounts and external annual accounts.
In 2024, Cord changed its finance system to use Business Central. The Finance Manager will become the organisation’s main ‘admin’ user of the finance system. In the near-term, there will be a particular focus on rolling out further functionality of the system.
The Finance Manager will have oversight of the UK finance function through the line management of the UK Finance Officer and will directly deliver on the international side of operations in the areas of donor compliance, programme financial management, partner financial monitoring, and reporting. The role will involve travel to international programme locations.

- To support the Head of Operations to provide finance team leadership, develop and deliver an annual finance workplan to ensure continual improvement, and to drive finance capacity across the organisation

About this role:
Reporting to the Deputy CEO, the Communications and Policy Manager will support SIB’s track record of sector, government and media engagement, notably the high standard of publication set through its media partnerships with Tortoise and the Financial Times, its contributions to the policy landscape in the social sector, and its in-house data analysis and insight generation. This new post will contribute to SIB’s ongoing communications and policy work and its reach and influence.
Key responsibilities
1. Support the delivery of a comprehensive plan for our communications and policy activity, combining ongoing promotional communications, specific activities for funds and programmes, and proactively generated content and opportunities to influence
2. Co-ordinating with SIB partners in developing and delivering communication work, on major projects such as the Youth Investment Fund, the Recovery Loan Fund and the Enterprise Development Programme; ensuring that it is powered by data and customer insight of the highest quality
3. Keeping track of policy developments in areas of strategic importance to SIB, notably in social investment, youth, community energy and infrastructure investment. Writing briefings on key policy developments related to SIB’s strategic priorities, proactively identifying opportunities to further our policy agenda; also researching and preparing responses for relevant external consultations, using SIB data and evidence

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified and experienced Accountant to strategically lead and develop the finance team of Mind in Enfield and Barnet.
The role will:
- lead on managing financial sustainability and the assets of the organisation

Finance duties
- Work with the CEO to ensure good financial practices in place and bring to the immediate attention of the CEO, SLT, the Finance & HR Committee (FHRC) and Trustees, as appropriate, any and all areas of financial and risk control.
- Manage the overall financial strategy, preparing 3-year plans, budgets, forecasts & monthly management accounts which are prepared accurately and delivered in a timely manner.
- Produce and monitor a cash flow forecast and highlight any risks to the organisation.
- Monitor and explain variances and ensure timely action to correct any issues.
- Together with HR, prepare monthly payroll instruction, check payroll and organise timely payment. Work with HR, to ensure HR documentation is consistent with payroll and forecast.
- Ensure all sales and purchase transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner. Work with SLT to ensure necessary in place contractual and purchase order documentation in place for income.
- Maintain accounting controls and implement policies and procedures which meet the requirements of SORP and ensure a secure and confidential financial system with appropriate backups.
- Manage financial audits including all necessary preparatory work and interface with auditors.
- Identify areas for financial process improvement and streamlining.
Education & Qualification

This is a part time position, (14 hours per week), based remotely. You will be expected to attend Barnet (N12) and Enfield (N9) offices when necessary.

The Karen Hilltribes Trust (KHT) is a UK registered Charity that has worked in Northern Thailand for the past three decades. Our mission is to partner with Karen communities to improve their health, livelihoods, and access to education. By taking an integrated approach to the complex socio-economic issues at hand, we aim to achieve sustainable change by empowering Karen communities to improve their own lives.
Since 1986, KHT has transformed the health and well-being of over 50,000 people through the provision of clean drinking water, improved sanitation facilities and hygiene education; secured agriculture as a sustainable livelihood for more than 17,000 farmers through the construction of flood-resistant irrigation systems; and increased accessed to education for 17,000 children and young people through school meals, transport and accommodation, and higher education scholarships.
Main Purpose of The Position
The Fundraising Manager will work closely with the Thai-Karen team and Director of KHT to secure funding to support the successful operation of the charity and implement projects in KHT’s three key programme areas: Community Health; Sustainable Livelihoods; and Access to Education. The role will be primarily desk based but with opportunities to travel to the field. The successful candidate will be directly responsible for:
• Developing and implementing KHT’s fundraising strategy;
• Applying for grants from foundations, corporations, and individuals;
• Implement Prospect Research on existing and new potential donors (major gifts, corporates, trusts and foundations, individual donors) and creating solicitation plans, informing the Director on updates and activities implementation;

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for the following duties:
1. Develop and maintain a fundraising strategy with the Director, paying particular attention to increasing unrestricted funding opportunities.

3. Manage grant applications for our projects to existing and new funders, who may be foundations, corporations, or individual donors.

5. Check and constantly update Donorfy database, in coordination with KHT Director and KHT Finance Administrator;

8. Implement community fundraising activities and organise talks and fundraising events, with the support and help of KHT Trustees and volunteers.
9. Ensure that the organisation communicates regularly with its supporters, creating bespoke messages to increase engagement and donations and supporting social media content.
10. Ensure that the organisation complies with fundraising regulations set by the Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, and other relevant bodies.
11. Visit our team in Northern Thailand on an occasional basis (likely once a year) to better understand our work on the ground and support fundraising initiatives.

Person Specification
You’ll likely have:
• Several years of experience in a relevant role fundraising for registered charities.
• Demonstrable success in securing funding through grant applications and by engaging donors.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-level written communications in English and adapt writing style for an array of different audiences.
• Knowledge of Charity Commission/Fundraising Regulator regulations pertaining to fundraising.
• High level of computer literacy and a proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Veterans Outreach Support (VOS) is an award-winning charity that offers welfare, wellbeing and mental health support and services to veterans of the UK Armed Forces and Merchant Navy in Portsmouth, Hampshire, and the Isle of Wight. They provide a Drop-In model of support, a welfare advice service, a range of peer-supported wellbeing activities and social groups, and access to psychology, psychiatry, and therapy services.
VOS has secured additional funding from the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust to continue the work of the Thrive Together programme (formerly VPPP) in the South East, which is designed to bring together a network of veterans’ support agencies that will take an informed approach across the South East region to ensure that there are connected pathways, which work well for veterans; that there are safe places for veterans to go, which connect into these pathways; and that volunteers and staff who support veterans have access to training and work closely with other organisations within veterans’ mental health pathways.
The Network and Partnership Development Manager will work with the Thrive Together Portfolio Manager and manage the Thrive Together regional ‘cluster’ Partners in defined geographical regions to identify and build a meaningful network of organisations delivering support to veterans, their families and carers. The Network and Partnership Development Manager will act as deputy Thrive Together Portfolio Manager as and when required.

Overview
To date, Global Dialogue’s finances has been overseen by an external accountancy firm. Over the last eighteen months, we have been working towards bringing our finance function in house. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced accountant to take the reins and complete the development and roll out of our internal finance function.
The Head of Finance is a new role within the organisation that is both strategic and handson. In the first phase, the postholder will be required to roll up their sleeves and, with the support of Global Dialogue’s Finance Officer, get stuck into the detail of financial administration, including overseeing twice monthly pay runs, monthly and quarterly closes, and other day-to-day financial management tasks. Alongside this, the role will lead on bringing the finance function fully in house, eventually taking on full responsibility for the preparation of management and statutory accounts, cashflow and FX management, and budgeting and forecasting processes. This role will play a key coaching role for the Finance Officer, with a view to eventually delegating all bookkeeping tasks. The postholder will also be responsible for ensuring finance systems are innovative, robust and fit for purpose, and will be a business partner to our hosted programmes, providing advice on compliance and strategic matters.
