The Degrees Initiative is a UK-based NGO that builds the capacity of developing countries to evaluate solar radiation modification (SRM), a controversial proposal for reducing some impacts of climate change by reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Degrees is neutral on whether SRM should ever be used, but we believe that developing countries should be empowered to conduct their own research and to play a central role in SRM discussions. The initiative has been working in different forms for over a decade and our work receives worldwide coverage and widespread acclaim.
Degrees’ programmatic work builds capacity through research grants, workshops, and community-building—all of these across the Global South. The initiative has been steadily growing since becoming a charity, and we plan on continuing to expand. Over the next few years, Degrees will offer grants to research teams in new countries and disciplines, support the scientists as they develop into regional leaders, and keep building a global community of experts.
The Programmes Director role offers a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to advance while helping scale-up the organisation’s work. They will get to work with some the world’s leading SRM experts both inside and outside of Degrees and play a central role in building an initiative that is changing the field of SRM.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), this critical role will lead the development of a large, expert and high-performing directorate. The role
The Director of Programmes will play a pivotal role in the strategic leadership and management of our Programmes Directorate. HAMRAH seeks to equip Afghan civil society in exile to protect and strengthen the rights of vulnerable groups in Afghanistan, especially women and girls. We do this through core funding, capacity strengthening, network building and collaborative advocacy.
HAMRAH is hosted by Global Dialogue, an international philanthropy support organisation partnering with funders to advance rights, equity and diversity. We seek a Senior Programme Officer – Development & Advocacy to ensure timely and effective implementation of project deliverables through day-to-day management of activities and processes.

Remuneration This role has been benchmarked at a UK salary of £44,500 (pro rata for a part time position). The HAMRAH Initiative is designed to address the significant challenges faced by Afghan civil society organisations (CSOs) forced into exile, particularly women-led organisations, as they continue to provide protection for vulnerable groups within Afghanistan. The initiative focuses on fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and advocacy to safeguard the rights of vulnerable populations, including women and girls.
Through sustained technical support and resources, HAMRAH aims to build a stronger Afghan civil society equipped with essential organisational infrastructure, leadership skills, and collaborative networks to preserve hard-won gains and advance rights and protections for vulnerable groups.
Currently, we are supporting 10 Afghan CSOs in exile, located around the world, that continue working partially or fully inside Afghanistan to protect vulnerable populations, including women and girls, LGBTQ+ communities, and individuals with disabilities.

Overview
The Senior Programme Officer - Development & Advocacy will play a vital role in advancing the HAMRAH initiative and strengthening the resilience of cohort organisations through fundraising, research, joint policy advocacy, communication, and capacity development. This position requires a dynamic and caring professional with experience working with Global South CSOs, as well as the passion and empathy to drive strategic initiatives, build partnerships, and amplify programmatic impact. In this role, you will collaborate closely with HAMRAH's partner cohort organisations (10 CSOs in exile), mentors, the advisory board, and other key stakeholders. The right post holder will be comfortable responding to the needs of a cohort of organisations whose priorities may change, which can lead to working in ways that require flexibility. There will be opportunities to explore, discuss and debate new ideas and consider how the latest research could benefit the cohort of organisations.

Job Description
Fundraising and Grant Writing: Work with the Programme Director to identify funding opportunities, lead the drafting and reviewing of proposals, concept notes, and grant applications for the HAMRAH initiative and its cohort organisations. Monitor funding trends and donor priorities to develop tailored and compelling proposals.
Policy and Joint Advocacy: Support HAMRAH and cohort organisations in designing and implementing targeted joint advocacy campaigns, including strategy and messaging development. Help facilitate policy dialogue and engagement with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and civil society networks, to advance the priorities of HAMRAH and its cohort organisations.
Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis to inform programme strategies, advocacy efforts, and policy development. This includes helping produce briefing papers, reports, and articles with clear recommendations based on HAMRAH’s work and evidence. Also monitor emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in Afghanistan and other exiled communities across Global South to ensure programming remains responsive, relevant and impactful.
Communication and Reporting: Lead the development of newsletters and other digital communication materials to showcase HAMRAH’s achievements and cohort organisations’ work. If needed and approved by cohort, coordinate digital engagement strategies, including website updates and social media campaigns, to enhance HAMRAH visibility and outreach. Lead the drafting of narrative and financial reports to donors.
Capacity Development: support assessment of capacity-building needs of cohort organisations and develop tailored training plans to address identified gaps. When needed, provide technical support to cohort organisations to strengthen their operational and programmatic capacities.
Learning and Exchange: Support the planning and execution of online and in-person cross-learning exchange workshops with partner organisations in the Global South. Facilitate opportunities for collaboration and collective learning, and help establish global solidarity networks, platforms, and resources to enhance knowledge-sharing among cohort organisations.

Required

At least 5 years of experience in programme support across fundraising, joint advocacy, partnership, research and capacity development, particularly in the non-profit or international development sectors.

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented senior programme manager to oversee the delivery of the two-year training programme funded through the AI Opportunity Fund. This role focuses on managing the implementation, budget, and contractual aspects of the program, ensuring its success in equipping underserved communities with essential AI and digital skills.

Job Description
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) created the Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) to help cultural organisations and heritage sites during the COVID-19 pandemic. This Fund included a £254 million loans programme for arts, culture and heritage organisations. Arts Council acts as loan agent for the borrowers in the programme portfolio.
You will be responsible for all aspects of Arts Council's management of the CRF loans portfolio. You will be the principal contact with DCMS and will be required to meet with them regularly to report on a range of CRF loans portfolio issues and activities including formal portfolio reviews, loan re-profile recommendations, commissioning of external legal and financial advice, loans management process and systems.
The CRF Loans Director will have direct line management responsibility for the CRF loans team and your duties will include:
- Overseeing effective loans monitoring processes to identify where borrowers' business performance indicates a risk to loan repayment
- Reporting to DCMS on the performance of the loans' portfolio on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis.
- Making recommendations on appropriate action to take on defaulting or at-risk loans.
- Ensuring performance management, risk and internal controls are in place and used effectively.
The Successful Applicant
The successful CRF Loans Director will hold an ACA/CCAB/CIMA qualification (or equivalent) with experience of working at a senior level and exposure to working with loan lenders and borrowers.
You will have excellent financial analysis skills and be able to present complex financial information in simple understandable form to decision makers and others.
Ideally you will have a background within an audit and/or social impact organisation and have an understanding of shaping a loans fund.

Job Description
The purpose of this role is three-fold.
First, to ensure that Sustrans has the people, money, processes, controls and systems to deliver its 2025-30 strategy, as efficiently and effectively as possible.
Second, to support the CEO in holding the organisation to account for delivery, and to drive continual improvement of this delivery across all functions.
Third, through effective financial planning and control, to ensure that Sustrans remains financially sustainable.
To do this effectively, this role is responsible for the following functions: Finance; IT; People; Planning, Governance & Assurance.
Key responsibilities:Finance
- Responsible for the overall financial strategy and financial planning for the charity, including the development of effective financial policies, and for the annual budget and business plan.
- Leading all financial operations of the organisation including business partnering, financial analysis, accounting and treasury, contract and grants management, and procurement. Provide regular financial updates, recommendations and strategic insights to the Executive, Board of Trustees and associated sub-committees.
- Lead the promotion and delivery by the whole organisation of good financial management so that the funds and assets for which the Charity is responsible are safeguarded and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively.

It supports almost 150 scientists across the Global South as they model how SRM could affect the climate in their regions, and they are becoming influential leaders in the SRM conversation.
This is a good start, but our plans are much more ambitious. We now want to support the Southern teams to move to the next level in their development. National projects will evolve into regional research programmes—in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America, for instance. These regional programmes will inform policy processes by writing reports and policy briefs. Centralised downscaling and bias correction will reduce the barriers to SRM research across the Global South, allowing more countries to do their own SRM research and increasing existing teams’ output.
Degrees’ new Staff Scientist will be central to this. As an expert in climate impacts modelling, they will help the teams develop regional research projects. They will support Southern scientists to get access to the data that they need, will advise Degrees on how we can best support Southern SRM research, and develop new work streams as needed. In all of this, the Staff Scientist will work closely with the 26 modelling teams that Degrees supports across the Global South, plus our range of partners and volunteer research collaborators. In this, their work will be central to the next stage of Degrees’ development, helping to ensure that developing countries have the evidence and expertise to evaluate SRM and to play a central role in research and discussions.
About the position
The position will appeal to someone with a strong academic track record who is looking to use their skills and training outside of academia—for an organisation that is looking to use research to change the world, rather than just for research’s sake. Because the right candidate may not wish to leave academia entirely, the position may be less than full time, which would be negotiated (but not less than 60% time at Degrees).
Specific responsibilities include:

Plan and implement the new lines of work, above, and to develop new ones in cooperation with other staff members, Degrees-funded researchers, and volunteers;

Organise and facilitate regionalisation workshops approximately each quarter;

Manage and deepen relationships with regional SRM experts;

Work with a future science writer to deliver the annual scientific reports;

Learn the goals and needs of scientists in each region and, to the extent possible, facilitate their provision;

Directly support our funded scientists, as appropriate;

Help deliver the Degrees Global Forum on SRM, taking place 12-16 May in Cape Town;

The role
Main areas of responsibility
Focussed on the Coronation Food Project (CFP) Hubs across the Head of Commercial Development will lead the strategic direction and operational execution of commercial initiatives and activites.
This key leadership role includes identifying growth opportunities, developing partnerships, optimising revenue streams, and ensuring alignment with overall business and charitible objectives.
The ideal candidate will combine visionary thinking with pragmatic execution to drive sustainable long term growth, focussed on income diversification and generation alongside raising awareness of the programme with key stakeholders.
The key focus of the role will be:
- Identifying, planning and implementing commercial based strategies and a framework to diversify income steams to support the development of a sustainable of Hub network.
- Successfully deliver an ambitious growth strategy across new partnerships.
- Working collaboratively with the Hub Development teams, delivering a seamless strategy, focussing on partnership management, strategic business planning and maximising income value.
- Developing a robust pipeline of prospective support and implement a first-rate approach to new partnership management, with the capacity to delivery multi-year strategic partnerships.
- Using data, insight and innovation techniques to implement and diversify income streams from prospective partners.
- Be an active member of the CFP Programme Team.
- Gather and share insights, innovations and framewors with the wider FareShare Network to embed best in class approaches and practices.
Responsibilities
- Generate a portfolio of strategic commercial partners and new income streams to support the growth of the project.
- Maintain oversight of existing partnerships to ensure a cohesive and collaborative transition of new partners into long term supporters.
- Collaborate with the Fundraising Team to identify new corporate funding opportunities.
- Oversee the development of a pipeline that has the capacity to meet the strategic needs of the programme both locally and nationally.
- Lead on securing and negotiating significantly high value partnerships resulting in exceptional partners for the CFH programme.
- Develop, monitor and maintain systems and processes including Salesforce database, account management plans, partnership plans, contracts and due diligence .
