About Strength & Stem

Strength & Stem is a charity and social enterprise that uses floristry to empower female modern slavery survivors. We want to see female survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking restored from their trauma, empowered for the future, and able to sustain a good quality of life. We achieve our vision by offering an evidence-based, holistic programme. It incorporates tailored skills training (including vocational floristry, prevocational and wellbeing skills training), work experience, mentorship, and a supportive community. We run a nine-month programme each year, as well as alumni events and social cafes. The skills and experiences survivors gain through our programme create a lasting difference for them and their families through economic independence, strengthened wellbeing and increased community.  

The charity is growing its programme delivery team by recruiting a second Progress Facilitator. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join a small, ambitious team, continually ensuring that our services are survivor-centred and have an impact positively disproportionate to the organisations’ age and stage of development. 

Role Summary

The Progress Facilitator will provide specialist support to participants throughout all aspects of the core Strength & Stem programme. Under the supervision of the Programme Director, the Progress Facilitator will have responsibility for the progression, support, and safeguarding of our programme participants. Alongside the programme delivery team, you will ensure every participant has a safe and positive overall programme experience. This role will involve working directly with survivors, as well as a wide range of stakeholders from supporting organisations to florists, volunteers, and the programme delivery team.  

Terms

• Role title: Progress Facilitator
• Responsible to: Interim Programme Director
• Hours: 0.5 FTE (2.5 days or 18.75 hours per week). This is a fixed-term role for 12 months, with the possibility of extension and increased hours (funding dependent).
• Salary: £29,120 pro rata (£14,560 per annum at 0.5 FTE). Reasonable programme-related travel expenses will be covered (this does not include accommodation).
• Based: This is a hybrid role. You will be required to attend all programme related activities and facilitate work experience placements in person. The workshops take place in London near King’s Cross and the work experience placements are currently in London and Windsor. There may be occasions where evenings or weekends are required but these are not often. You may also need to be available in London for ad-hoc meetings that require in person attendance.
• Required in-person dates: You will be expected to be on-site for the following dates (this is not an exhaustive list): Every Friday from 2 May to 18 July; 28 June, 26 July

In this role we are looking for an individual that thrives working with children and young people in a school context and is passionate about supporting pupils and their families struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will be a qualified counsellor with an aptitude for creativity whether this is music and drama, sport and outdoor recreation or other fields of kinaesthetic development. The TLG Therapeutic Counsellor will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents too, so we're looking for an individual who can build and foster strong relationships.

Role Summary 

This role supports the entire Alcohol Change UK team, more specifically the Head of Office, People and Governance. They undertake administration for the People team, such as co-ordinating and supporting recruitment and maintaining Personnel records. This busy and diverse role works across the charity with all members of the team as well as our office and IT suppliers, solving basic IT issues and keeping the office running smoothly. The post holder will also be the first point of contact for the charity: answering our phone and directing enquiries as appropriate.

NOTE: The role is 70:30 split between office and IT: People, though this fluctuates to a higher focus on People and HR during times of recruitment.

The post holder will also work with our Governance and Executive Officer to support the Board of Trustees.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities 

Office

• Keep our physical office running well, including answering phones, welcoming visitors, organising electronic filing, operating our room bookings system, overseeing postage and print.
• Support the HOPG with office tenants including room booking, key cutting and buildings maintenance.
• Liaise with any buildings, repair and maintenance works (e.g. cleaning, pest control, etc) at the London office.
• Procure office stationery, consumables and equipment.
• Support all staff and associates with basic IT troubleshooting, including liaising with the IT support team and IT account manager.
• Support with the compliance of Health and Safety through training reminders and maintaining the Health and Safety platform.
• Help the team keep up-to-date with cyber security training (externally provided).
• Review supplier contracts and research alternatives to present best value quotes to the HOPG, such as insurance, utilities, etc.
• Book courier services when required and arrange delivery of resources to team members.

People

Recruitment:

• Support recruitment advertising, co-ordinate booking of interviews and support interview panels.
• Assist with the induction and onboarding of new starters.
• Update digital People records.

Learning and Development:

• Support in-house training/skills shares and maintain documentation/recording of these sessions.
• Support in booking external staff training.
• Produce and maintain records of internal and external staff training.
• Research, help develop and implement a new training and development policy.

Introduction

This new role, funded by the Church Commissioners' 'Buildings for Mission' grant, will provide frontline support to parishes in the Southwark Diocese for capital fundraising to maintain, repair, and conserve church buildings. The aim is to ensure these buildings remain sustainable, open, and available for both worship and diverse community use. The post-holder will offer hands-on support to priority churches, ongoing guidance to around 50 additional churches, and ad hoc advice as needed.

Main Responsibilities

1. To provide specialist advice and – where appropriate –‘hands-on’ assistance to parishes on grants applications and other means of capital fundraising, for maintenance/repair/conservation of church buildings and capital improvement-works projects.
2. To offer encouragement, help and support to parishes in developing strategic financially-achievable approaches to maintenance/repair/conservation and sustainable use of their church buildings, including community engagement and wider uses, as well as energy-efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

• Support Capital Fundraising: Advise parishes on grants and income generation to maintain and improve church buildings, including achieving Net Zero Carbon goals.
• Parish Assistance: Help parishes with grant applications, financial planning, and income-generating strategies through meetings and ongoing support.
• Grant Management: Administer building and energy-saving grants, ensuring effective allocation and use.
• Training and Guidance: Deliver workshops and provide resources to enhance parish fundraising skills.
