Salary: £33,000-£45,000 per annum (dependent on experience) 

Location: Remote – UK based. Our offices are in Toynbee Hall, East London, but we welcome applicants from across the UK who do not wish to relocate. You should be willing to travel to our London office for team and project meetings up to six times per year. Project related travel costs will be reimbursed. 

Hours: Four or five days a week (flexible – minimum 28 hours / week). 

The Young Foundation supports a 4.5 day working week and staff work this, wherever possible (pro rata for those working less than a 35-hour week). 

Contract: Permanent, starting ASAP

Are you our new Global Campaign Lead?

The International Network on Explosive Weapons is an international network of NGOs that calls for immediate action to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas.

Do you have experience in institutional governance and staff management? Are you motivated by the prospect of leading an international network of NGOs that work to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas? Do you have strong financial, fundraising, and communications skills? Then you might be the candidate that we are looking for!

INEW and the purpose of the network 

INEW members engage in research, policy and advocacy to promote greater understanding of the issues that arise from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas, and concrete steps that can be taken to address it. INEW member organisations develop partnerships calling for improved government policy and operational practice at a national level, and work together to develop stronger standards internationally. This includes efforts to advance universalisation and implementation of the Political Declaration on Strengthening the Protection of Civilians from the Humanitarian Consequences Arising from the Use of Explosive Weapons in Populated Areas, the first formal international recognition that the use of explosive weapons in populated areas is the leading cause of civilian casualties in armed conflict, and that this must be addressed urgently and directly.

Many INEW member organisations work in countries affected by explosive violence – providing development assistance, documenting the impact of violence, assisting the victims of explosive weapons and clearing landmines, unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices. See our current members.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of relevant working experience. Such as working with coordination, institutional governance or administration, diplomacy, international policy and law, or campaigning. 

• Excellent organisation skills and detail oriented.

• Ability to work in a multicultural environment and to liaise and communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders including civil society, international organisations and state representatives is essential.

• Excellent time management, forward planning, and prioritisation skills, with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (must be fluent). Other language skills, especially French and Spanish, are a significant benefit.

• Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner to manage multiple time-sensitive priorities.

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Coordination

• Collaborate and work closely with the INEW Steering Committee and sub-committees. 

• Facilitate network meetings, promotion of positive working relations amongst the INEW members, staff and the wider INEW network.

• Develop coalition strategies and action plans and facilitate communication within the INEW network. 

• Manage INEW programme of activities (calendar of global events and INEW’s engagement in those.

• Develop INEW’s multi-year strategic plans to guide the network in setting its objectives, with staff and membership input and INEW Steering Committee approval;

• Lead the implementation of strategy, including through the development of advocacy and communication work plans.

• Ensure INEW produces high quality and relevant written content including advocacy briefs.

Lobbying and advocacy

• Represent INEW (as appropriate) in the media, at conferences and in other fora.

Staff management

• Ensure that the staff has sufficient guidance and professional advice on matters to fulfil their responsibilities.

• Develop a funding strategy to ensure income is maintained, and that the donor base and levels of support for core costs and projects increases.

• Ensure expenditure is controlled in line with budgets and that risks are identified and managed.

Article 36 is the current coordinating organisation for International Network on Explosive Weapons (INEW) and the Explosive Weapons Monitor, working to prevent human suffering from the use of explosive weapons in populated areas. 

Article 36 is a specialist non-profit organisation, focused on reducing harm from weapons. A small and effective team, we work together with civil society partners and governments to develop new policies and legal standards to prevent civilian harm from existing and emerging weapons.

CBRL, the UK’s social sciences and humanities research hub in the region, seeks to appoint a new director. With centres in Amman, Jerusalem and London, CBRL fosters, produces and disseminates original, rigorous and independent research and invests in promising emerging scholars. Our overarching mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of the peoples and cultures of the Levant through scholarship in the humanities and social sciences.

The successful applicant will be a leading scholar with a background in the humanities, social or environmental sciences. They will have an outstanding research profile and demonstrable experience of academic leadership and strong general management ability. They will have a clear vision for building on CBRL’s existing strengths as a research centre and regional hub for scholars of the Levant.

Appointment Term: Initial period of 3 years.

What you’ll be doing

As a Campaigns Analyst, you’ll play a crucial role in shaping River Action’s fight for cleaner rivers by transforming complex data and information into compelling narratives that influence public opinion, media coverage, political advocacy, and legal action.

Reporting to the Head of Campaigns, you’ll be at the heart of our evidence-based approach. You’ll be analysing government and industry data, uncovering insights, and equipping our team with the intelligence needed to challenge polluters, hold regulators accountable, and push for policy reform. 

Like a detective, you will be the person we rely on to seek out and identify the smoking gun - as well as to meticulously build out the pieces of the jigsaw - that demonstrates the malpractice, illegal behaviour or mismanagement of a water company, a factory farm or a failed regulator.

• Monitor government regulators and industry updates, tracking regulatory programmes, announcements, data, reports and other information.

• Develop and lead proactive data collection efforts including by making Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulation (EIR) requests to inform and support campaigns, legal actions, investigations and communications.

• Plan, execute and report public opinion polls to gather insights that strengthen campaign messaging.

• Analyse and interpret complex data to uncover key insights that drive impactful campaigns and communications.

• Map and assess major campaign factors, including pollution sources, supply chains, regulatory frameworks and industry compliance.

• Investigate polluters, evaluating their legal obligations, governance structures, sustainability claims, environmental performance, finances and resource allocations.

• Investigate government regulators including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales and Ofwat, analysing the performance of their monitoring, reporting and law enforcement duties.

• Maintain and update internal databases and fact sheets with the latest intelligence.

We're recruiting for someone to lead our public engagement work on climate and nature and ensure that the public are involved in critical decisions on how to reach net zero and protect the future of nature and land in the UK. 

Involve has a commitment to use our skills, time and experience to address big challenges. Climate change is one of those big challenges and is a policy area where citizen engagement on both principles and practice is vital.  It, and Net Zero in particular, risk becoming a polarised and politicised issue where there is little room for considered, inclusive decision making. 

This exciting role will lead and coordinate our work with institutions, and others, to find a way through difficult issues like low emission zones, the energy transition, industrialisation of green spaces and other challenges in a way that centres the people who are impacted, with a social justice and equity lens. This role will primarily sit within our Innovation and Practice (I&P) function - focused on practical delivery of public engagement such as citizen assemblies, juries and other deliberative processes. The successful candidate will lead several of our major climate change and nature projects, including the UKRI Net Zero Living project - working with 28 Councils to embed meaningful public participation in their route to net zero. You will also contribute to the training, standards setting and advocacy work that Involve does - maintaining and growing our reputation in climate and environment networks and communicating the contribution we can make and impact that we are having.

We have a significant track record in public deliberation on climate change. We ran the first Climate Assembly in the UK and have since delivered many projects in this area including the People’s Plan for Nature. We have developed a reputation for best practice public dialogue, deliberation and capacity building. We want to grasp the opportunity for deliberative practices to make a real contribution to the change needed to respond to the climate crisis. This is a great opportunity to play a central role in taking this work forward. We are looking for someone to bring experience in designing and running participatory and deliberative processes and a good understanding of the complexities and challenges of climate and/or nature. You will need to be committed to taking a collaborative approach -  co-creating and coordinating our strategy on public engagement across the organisation and build on the work that others are doing.

The National Lottery Promotions Unit (NLPU) raises positive public awareness of National Lottery brand and the funding which changes the lives of ordinary people through the £30 million it raises every week for good causes all across the UK. National Lottery players help build local communities, power sports teams, protect the environment, unleash creative talent, look after the elderly and unlock youthful potential. In addition, support from the National Lottery wins Olympic medals and Oscars.  

To support these efforts in our 30th year, the National Lottery Promotions Unit Public Affairs lead will play a key role in managing external relationships with key parliamentarians, and representative bodies. You will bring a network of key contacts to promote and support the importance of the National Lottery to people and communities throughout the UK. With a good understanding of the work of the DCMS and of ministers and MPs, you will also play a key role in presenting the National Lottery in an effective and impactful way and manage the delivery of the revised National Lottery government relations strategy. A skilled communicator, you will be across the evolving the lottery landscape and effectively promote the best interests and positive impact of The National Lottery.

This role is a 12 month fixed term contract, working full time, 37 hours a week, based in London alongside the wider NLPU Team. 

You will have the support of your Director, NLPU team and colleagues from across the whole National Lottery family.   With a UK-wide remit you will need to be proactive in engaging with multiple teams/senior stakeholders across the twelve National Lottery distributors, the operator, the DCMS and the Gambling Commission.

Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) is a research and information provision charity that is dedicated to improving and saving the lives of people with prostate cancer. Patients are central to everything we do and drive our work. Our work covers four key areas:   

• Academic and social research – We fund novel and innovative research projects at world-leading institutions that are working towards breakthroughs in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of advanced prostate cancer, and better quality of life outcomes for patients. Prostate Cancer Research (PCR) is seeking an experienced and insightful Senior Policy Adviser to lead the development of our policy work and help drive meaningful change for people affected by prostate cancer.

Reporting to the Head of Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs, you will be responsible for shaping evidence-based policy positions, producing high-impact consultation responses, and identifying strategic opportunities to influence health and research policy. This is an exciting opportunity for a policy professional with strong analytical and writing skills, a solid understanding of the health policy landscape, and a desire to make a difference. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Policy Leadership: Lead the development of PCR’s policy positions across a range of health and research issues through in-depth research, evidence analysis and horizon scanning, identifying key issues affecting prostate cancer patients and developing robust solutions for systemic change. 

• Consultation and Inquiry Responses: Draft high-quality, persuasive responses to government consultations, select committee inquiries, and regulatory reviews, ensuring PCR’s positions are well-evidenced, compelling and grounded in insight from those with lived experience. 

• Health Technology Appraisals: Lead or contribute to PCR’s submissions to NICE and SMC technology appraisals, ensuring that our input is evidence-based, reflects the lived experience of patients, and aligns with our policy positions. 

• Stakeholder Insight and Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with policymakers, healthcare professionals, government bodies, think tanks, sector bodies such as the AMRC, and other key stakeholders to inform PCR’s positions and stay at the front of policy thinking. 

• Political and Policy Monitoring: Track key policy developments and legislative changes relevant to prostate cancer, assessing their implications and identifying opportunities for PCR to engage.

• Internal Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across PCR, including research, communications, patient engagement and fundraising teams, to ensure a unified approach across policy and organisational priorities. 

• Briefings and Written Outputs: Deliver succinct, compelling, and well-evidenced policy briefings on key issues to a range of stakeholders, including policymakers, industry leaders, and partners.

• Public Representation: Represent PCR at external meetings, external policy networks, working groups, events, and conferences, ensuring our position is effectively communicated and influencing policy discussions in line with our strategic objectives. 

• Support for Public Affairs and Campaigns: Provide policy advice and support the development of policy-facing materials to support the delivery of public affairs and campaign activity led by the wider Policy, Campaigns and Public Affairs team. 

Person Specification: 

• Education and Experience: 

• Significant experience (typically 3–5 years) in a policy role, ideally within the health, research, or voluntary sector. 

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, health sciences, social sciences, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). 

• Demonstrable experience of developing evidence-based policy positions and delivering consultation or inquiry responses in a relevant context. 

• Skills and Competencies: 

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex policy issues and data to inform clear and strategic positions.

We're recruiting for someone to lead our Capacity Building & Standards (CB&S) function on a maternity cover contract.

The CB&S function aims to build the capacity of organisations and institutions to embed the processes, skills, structures and cultures needed for effective public engagement in decision making.
