There are currently 30 Emmaus communities in the UK stretching from Glasgow to Dover and Norfolk to South Wales, collectively supporting more than 850 people. There are also 3 Emmaus groups working towards the development of services in their areas. About the role
The principal responsibility will be to support our ambition to become a best practice national body and an employer of choice, responsible for the day-to-day management of the HR function within Emmaus UK, as well as the development of our approach to in-house learning and delivery of our new People & EDI Strategy.
The role will be responsible for all aspects of Human Resources at Emmaus UK, overseeing the whole employee lifecycle, from recruitment and induction processes to offboarding and exit interviews.
The postholder will oversee HR processes, reviewing their effectiveness and identifying and embedding improvements to improve the employee experience.
Working with the Director of Resources, the role will be central to the delivery of the strategic objectives with an HR focus, while taking responsibility for the operational HR function to ensure a positive and supportive working environment for the staff team.

The newly created role of HR Manager will sit within the Resources directorate, to support the delivery of key charity and federation-wide objectives, as part of our mission to empower people affected by homelessness and poverty to change their lives for the better while using our voice to achieve social change.

Strategy
• Work with the Board to successfully deliver the CiC future ambitions and 5-Year Roadmap. Specifically, lead the 5-Year Financial Plan; the Organisational Development Plan – including the 12-month Operational Plan; and the 5-Year People Plan
• Ensure organisational readiness to ensure TMS can respond positively and at pace to new opportunities
• Lead the development and implementation of the TMS 5-Year Financial Plan to support delivery of the 5-Year Roadmap
• Support the Business Development Officer (BDO) to deploy effective horizon scanning and networking to keep abreast of relevant international, national and local opportunities that provides opportunities for business development and community impact.
Governance
- Lead oversight of project delivery and responsibility for flagging matters for escalation as appropriate to the Board
- Lead operational management and administration of TMS within the frameworks established by the Board
- Ensure the Board are kept fully updated and advised in line with the 5-Year Roadmap. Specifically, lead the 5-Year Financial Plan; the Organisational Development Plan – including the 12-month Operational Plan; and the 5-Year People Plan
- Lead development, implementation and adherence of TMS policies and procedures and ensure they are regularly reviewed against current best practice
- Ensure that TMS meets all of its obligations as a CiC with all regulatory and compliance bodies
- Implement, manage and develop the TMS Operational and Delivery Governance framework on behalf of the Board
- Co-ordinate monthly reporting and provision of performance data to support delivery of the TMS Operational and Delivery Governance framework
- Work closely with the TMS Finance partners and management team to formulate budgets and forecasts
- Keep the Board appraised of the financial performance and position of TMS, monitor against budgets/forecasts and take any necessary corrective action

Marketing, External Communication & PR
• Support the BDO to be an ambassador and spokesperson for TMS at events, meetings and other networking activities with key stakeholders in order to promote TMS.
• Support the BDO to maintain and develop effective networks with principal stakeholders and TMS collaborators within respective area of responsibilities outlined in the 5-Year Roadmap.

MAP’s Mission
Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) works for the health and dignity of Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees. MAP is the leading UK charity delivering health and medical care to those worst affected by conflict, occupation, and displacement in the occupied Palestinian territory and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.
Job Purpose
MAP is in a period of ambitious growth and rapid development, as we respond to the massive humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and in the West Bank and Lebanon. The role of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is to provide leadership, drive and direction in the development and delivery of MAP’s new strategic ambition, maximising the charity’s sustainable impact.
This is a key role for MAP, and it is expected that the job holder would be making a long-term commitment to the organisation. The post-holder will be tasked with leading MAP to deliver on the strategic ambition of becoming a high impact, global £50 M+ income organisation which enables over 1 million Palestinians to access improved healthcare annually by 2028. MAP’s income in 2023 was £35 M and the forecast for 2024 is £47 M.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
Vision and leadership
- Provide vision, leadership, direction and drive to achieve MAP’s strategic ambition and mission.
- Drive forward organisational transformation, together with the Senior Management Team, always remaining true to MAP’s values and focus on being locally led.
- Ensure that the Board of Trustees and its appointed committees are supported in their responsibility to ensure robust governance of MAP and provide advice and information to the Trustees regarding organisational performance and direction.

Experience

Job description
1. Organisational leadership and people management
-
Work with the ED and SMT to ensure a values-led and positive organisational culture is reflected throughout ways of working, internal communication, policies and processes, and all team activities.

Line-manage Senior Management Team (SMT) members, operational roles and other roles as necessary (currently Head of Development, Head of Communications and Engagement, Head of Policy, Advocacy and Research, and Operations Manager).

Chair weekly SMT meetings.

Oversee human resources and people management processes, ensuring alignment with best practice in areas including recruitment, induction, performance management, safety, wellbeing, learning and development, and benefits.

Ensure diversity, inclusion and equity (DEI) considerations are at the forefront of all work and decisions, working alongside our expert DEI Consultant.

Oversee the bi-annual, in-person team retreat.

The Role

You will be responsible for our communications and digital marketing strategy to drive and increase supporter engagement. Working remotely, you will be an integral part of a small team in the UK, reporting to the Head of Fundraising and collaborating with colleagues in India and Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively create captivating and impactful content to support UK fundraising and advocacy objectives to broaden HOPE UK’s online presence and brand awareness.
- To optimise and increase engagement across social media platforms by identifying relevant opportunities to engage with online influencers, patrons and ambassadors, third parties, and key UK supporters in order to raise awareness of HOPE UK’s activities and programmes in Kolkata.
- Scheduling and sharing content provided by HOPE Kolkata, HOPE UK’s Head of Fundraising, and third-party supporters, and adapting this content to create engaging posts across HOPE UK’s platforms.

About the role
We’re looking for a Media and Communications Officer to join our Media and PR team.
As a member of the team, you'll have a fundamental role in helping us to deliver on our promise to support young people and their families to deal with the impact of cancer, both during and beyond treatment.
This role, working together with other members of the Policy, Communications and Voice directorate and the wider charity, will help us achieve this by amplifying the voices and experiences of children and young people with cancer, influencing the system to create change and raising awareness and funds.

What will I be doing?
No two days are the same at Young Lives vs Cancer. So, summarising your ‘day to day’ isn’t easy. Here are some of the main things you’ll be doing, but you’ll find more details in the job description.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of the charity’s strategic media plan.
- Developing and implementing creative, effective communications plans for campaigns and projects, in-line with the charity’s overall strategic objectives.
- Writing materials for a range of on and offline channels and platforms including press releases, features, articles, opinion pieces and statements; ensuring these reflect Young Lives vs Cancer’s values and key messages.
- Developing real life stories based on the experience of children and young people, and their families, including interviewing, writing up and arranging photography and film content for use across the charity.
- Establishing quality effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders including Media and News outlets, journalists and charity partners.
- Participating in the reactive news desk rota, responding to urgent media enquiries and providing advice to staff and senior managers in order to promote and guard the charity’s reputation. This includes taking part in the out of hours rota as required
- Briefing national, regional and local media (print, broadcast and online) on Young Lives vs Cancer and its activities.

We are looking for a Community Organiser to join the Thames Valley Citizens team in Reading, building the power of local communities. The role will work across the whole city and will support existing member institutions, as well as focus on recruiting new ones, particularly ‘anchor institutions’ such as schools/colleges, faith institutions, and unions. Primary responsibilities will include recruiting new members; developing core teams in member institutions and supporting community leaders to take action on issues of shared concern.

A Community Organiser is responsible for the day-to-day development or maintenance of a Citizens alliance or small chapter. Supported by a more experienced Organiser, they have considerable independence and responsibility for external political and media relationships. They take responsibility for financial issues and staff and community training; and may oversee a budget or manage a colleague. A Community Organiser is a practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.

Thames Valley Citizens is a chapter of Citizens UK comprising Citizens MK (in Milton Keynes), Reading Citizens, and Oxford Citizens). Reading Citizens is one of Citizens UK’s newest Alliances, launched in 2023. It is a leader-led alliance. In Reading, we are currently focusing on growing the Alliance’s foundations by recruiting more civil society institutions to join existing members. Main Responsibilities
Working as a Thames Valley Citizens Community Organiser in Reading, reporting to a Regional Supervisor, your main responsibilities will include:
Community Organiser for Reading Citizens:

Work as part of a team of organisers across Thames Valley and across the South East of England (Thames Valley, Essex, and Sussex)

Recruit civil society institutions into the alliance

Support existing institutions across Reading Citizens to focus upon institutional development and strengthen civil society.

Build relationships and support our strategic partnerships with Reading University and the Students’ Union.
Build relational power to further the goals of CUK:

Develop a comprehensive power analysis for Reading Citizens

We are looking for an individual with quantitative research expertise and a desire to influence positive social change to join our Research Team. Previous experience in conducting research on the UK labour market is desirable but not essential. Reporting to the Senior Research Manager, the Research Manager will:

Contribute to the design and management of our research programme on labour market conditions, low pay, in-work poverty, and insecure work.
