Sitting within the Supporter Led Fundraising (SLF) department, the Regional Fundraising Team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for recruiting, stewarding and motivating individuals, companies and community groups to raise £3m per year. 

The team consists of 12 home based Regional Fundraising Officers (RFO’s). As one of three Community Fundraising Managers (CFM) you will be responsible for the line management of approx. 4-5 members of the team alongside the management of one of our income streams – either Regional Corporate, Community Groups or DIY.

Reporting into the Head of Regional Fundraising, you will work closely with senior stakeholders within ARUK and be required to play a key role in the implementation of the ARUK 10-year strategy and supporting on the development of the fundraising strategy.

You will work closely with the other CFMs and the SLF Managers Group to ensure consistency with supporter stewardship, manage budgets and support in financial planning, review team capacity and identify and manage priorities throughout the year, ensuring efficiency and a first-class supporter experience. Your overall goal will be helping drive our ambitious organisation growth and ultimately helping us find a cure.

Due to the nature of this role, we will require you to attend our Granta Park office, near Cambridge, one day per week, plus travel to meet the team and attend external meetings/events.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:

Line Management

· Line management of the high performing remote Regional Fundraising Officers; inspiring and driving their success to ensure they remain highly motivated in their roles, achieve their targets and play a key part in the performance of the wider team. As well as 1-1’s and personal growth reviews.

· You will monitor, review, and empower direct reports to ensure effective communication across the wider team and with key stakeholders e.g. Volunteering, Corporate Team, Sporting Events Team, Gifts in Wills Team, Supporter Care Team, Supporter Engagement Team and others.

· Alongside the other CFMs you will be responsible for planning and delivering in person team meetings approx. 5 times per year – these are key meetings to bring the team together and share plans and ideas in addition to ensuring that the remote based team are meeting with and hearing from key internal teams.

Income streams

You will be responsible for one of the following:

· DIY Income Stream Ownership - Writing and delivering the strategy for the current income stream and bringing in ambitious growth to £2.5m over the next year.

· Community Groups Income Stream - Writing and delivering the strategy for the income stream and identifying areas of growth

· Regional Corporate Income Stream - Writing and delivering the strategy for the Regional Corporate income stream and identifying areas of growth

 

Monitoring and Reporting

· An immediate responsibility for this role is the implementation of the new CRM database (Salesforce). You will need to dedicate time to understating and supporting the implementation, ensuring that it works for the team and that the team are utilising it according to business process and its implementation allows for maximum benefit to the team and all areas of fundraising

· Manage the team’s income and expenditure budget, including monthly reporting, and supporting with monthly reforecasts, and annual budget and operational plan setting.

· Review supporter numbers and income against DIY targets to track impact, ROI and cost income ratio and report back regularly.

· Ensure the fundraising CRM is being used effectively to facilitate accurate supporter stewardship and financial reporting, data segmentation and analysis.

· Use data insights and trends to support the team in budgeting, forecasting and mitigation plans.

· Lead on the build, development and use of Power BI Reporting across DIY and other income streams.

· Continue to review and be willing to change team processes and contribute to wider organisational process changes where necessary.

Relationship Management

· Build and maintain excellent working relationships with agencies, platform providers and event delivery companies to identify new opportunities and ensure all avenues are being optimised for ARUK.

· Work with the Sporting Events Managers to create a process to identify and steward high-value event participants to add value to their fundraising and ensure we are spotting opportunities beyond their current event.

· Work closely with the Marketing & Engagement Team to brief in marketing requirements, share trends, learnings, and results to optimise future activities.

· Work closely with managers from SLF Departments to support on the strategic direction of ARUK, prioritise work and any conflicts across teams, as well as deliver any tactical projects, new processes and ways of working.

Strategy & Operational Planning

· Work in consultation with the Head of Regional Fundraising to develop the regional fundraising strategy and annual tactical plan for ARUK to continue to build income growth in line with organisational objectives.

· Stay abreast of sector activity and actively participate in sector wide forums.

Stewardship and Supporter experience

· Plan and deliver an excellent communications journey for DIY participants and regional supporters including exploring new technologies and how we can talk to our supporters in the way most effective and relevant to them - whether that be email, phone, face to face, through social channels. Whilst also ensuring it aligns with wider stewardship goals and future cross-sell asks.

· Work with the wider SLF team to share best practice, ‘surprise and delight’ success and re-engagement activity to help drive long-term loyalty.

· Work with Philanthropy and Direct Marketing Teams to build on the Mid Value Donor programme. 

· Work alongside Data and Insights Teams to understand the potential lifetime value of our supporters and ensure opportunities are developed for supporters to hold a long-term fundraising relationship with ARUK.

What we are looking for:

· Line Management experience.

· Great knowledge and passion for building excellent supporter relationships and ensuring supporters feel valued and thanked appropriately.

· Good experience and knowledge of digital marketing strategies with a focus on supporter acquisition.

· Experience in creating supporter journeys.

· Proven track record of meeting or exceeding financial and non-financial targets.

· Good practice and understanding of GDPR and compliance.

· Adept at utilising data strategically for decision-making and achieving organisational goals and using analytics to identify trends and optimise donor engagement.

· Strong financial management and budgeting skills.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 

· An ability to manage a busy and varied workload.

· Skilled at building excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

· A positive and contagious enthusiasm to inspire others.

Job Description

The purpose of this role is three-fold.

First, to ensure that Sustrans has the people, money, processes, controls and systems to deliver its 2025-30 strategy, as efficiently and effectively as possible. 

Second, to support the CEO in holding the organisation to account for delivery, and to drive continual improvement of this delivery across all functions.

Third, through effective financial planning and control, to ensure that Sustrans remains financially sustainable.

To do this effectively, this role is responsible for the following functions: Finance; IT; People; Planning, Governance & Assurance.

Key responsibilities:Finance

• Responsible for the overall financial strategy and financial planning for the charity, including the development of effective financial policies, and for the annual budget and business plan.
• Leading all financial operations of the organisation including business partnering, financial analysis, accounting and treasury, contract and grants management, and procurement. Provide regular financial updates, recommendations and strategic insights to the Executive, Board of Trustees and associated sub-committees.
• Lead the promotion and delivery by the whole organisation of good financial management so that the funds and assets for which the Charity is responsible are safeguarded and used appropriately, economically, efficiently and effectively.
• Accountable for producing annual statutory accounts for each financial year.

IT & Systems

• Strategic oversight of IT operations and successful evolution and implementation of our Systems & Technology strategy and roadmap.

People

• Responsible for developing Sustrans' culture and people capability by ensuring the right structures and processes are in place to nurture and develop the Charity's people. This includes determining relevant strategies and HR and policies, and then ensuring their implementation through an approach of continual improvement.

Governance* Planning & Assurance - including Risk, Health and Safety, Legal, Data Management, Procurement, Planning, Reporting, 3rd line programme and project assurance, Continuous Improvement

• As the designated Executive lead for Health and Safety - review, update and ensure the effective delivery of Sustrans Health and Safety Policy.
• Responsible for the Charity's risk framework, enabling the Board to set the organisation's risk appetite and then for the processes and tools that enable risk to be rigorously identified and managed.
• Data governance, ensuring compliance and risk minimisation on all matters of data protection and governance.
• Developing and implementing the processes required to ensure consistent and timely reporting of all performance across the Charity and up to the Board of Trustees, to ensure line of sight into delivery of the strategy and provide the foundations for improvement.
• Second line assurance of project and programme delivery across Sustrans.
• NOTE: Governance* and third line Corporate level assurance sits within this Portfolio but reports to the CEO.

The Successful Applicant

• Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.
• Extensive experience of strategic planning and effective implementation.
• Experience of successfully leading and managing complex organisational change and improvement with quantifiable results.
• Experience of leading teams successfully through change.
• Proven track record of leading and developing high performing teams to deliver organisational excellence, impact, and efficiency.
• Experience of implementing organisation-wide business planning, budgeting, and reporting framework.
• Deep knowledge of financial planning and strategy.
• Financial Acumen: Ability to think strategically about financials and put this into practice through budgeting and business planning.

The Accelerating Reform Fund is a new initiative which aims to transform social care services, making them more responsive to the needs of the community. It is a national programme, with 42 regions allocated to have their own projects. Greater Manchester is one of the ARF regions. A significant part of Civic Voice's funding comes via membership subscriptions, but you will have a role in identifying additional sources of funding and you will supoprt the work of the Trustees and line manage staff, volunteers and consultants who may be appointed to support our work.

The Worker Support Centre (WSC) is a Scotland based charity that promotes decent work and prevents exploitation. We support marginalised and isolated workers in labour sectors where there is a high risk of abuse and exploitation. We work in partnership with workers to build power to secure and advance workplace rights. We prevent human trafficking for forced labour by acting to reduce the risks of worker exploitation. WSC values include: respect for human rights, representation, transparency, equality and innovation. 

WSC support includes advice, mediation, advocacy and assisted reporting to enforcement agencies. Our worker engagement informs policy change activity to address harms faced by those in high-risk work. In 2023 and 2024 WSC activities were targeted at workers in seasonal agriculture on the UK Seasonal Worker visa (SWV). During this time, we provided advice, support, and information to 1031 people in relation to the SWV. WSC is now embarking on a new project to engage workers in health and social care to advance social care workers’ rights through worker education and power sessions. 

About the role

This role is focused on advancing seasonal agricultural and social care workers’ rights by supporting WSC’s policy and advocacy work. In this role you will support WSC meet two of its four core objectives to work together with workers to claim spaces for power and representation in decision making; and to build the field of knowledge about workers and their experiences to influence policy. As well as work delivered directly by WSC, our policy work includes coordinating with coalitions such as the Ethical Trading Initiative, the Seasonal Worker Interest Group and the Scottish Food Coalition.

WSC strives to achieve representation of individuals with lived experience of the issues on which we work at all levels of our organisation and actively promote applications from individuals with experience of the issues on which we work. 

Main tasks and responsibilities

Policy and advocacy

· Lead in the development of components of policy, ensuring engagement of workers and cross-organisational engagement.

· Identify emerging legislation and develop an influencing strategy.

· Lead key influencing moments and processes, working in collaboration with policy coalitions of which WSC is part.

· Draft worker-informed and evidenced briefings, submissions to consultations in support of worker policy priorities and engage closely with civil servants, Government officials and other decision makers on policy objectives.

· Support participatory engagement with workers to understand what democratic engagement platforms might best suit them and help create opportunities to influence processes.

· Track, assess, understand and respond to future legislative developments and the strategic direction being taken by UK Government, UK Parliament, Scottish Parliament and Scottish Government.

Stakeholder engagement

· Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders in Government, enforcement authorities and industry.

· Contribute to wider sectoral networks and groups, including attending meetings and setting joint policy strategy objectives.

· Provide high-quality support to the CEO and other senior staff with external stakeholder engagement, developing targeted briefings.

Participation

· Support WSC Peer Engagement Officers to conduct participatory workshops with workers to understand their concerns and to develop and articulate collective concerns through influencing strategies.

· Support participatory analysis workshops with workers to jointly analyse concerns articulated in order to establish standards workers would like to see upheld for seasonal workers.

· Support the review and documentation of barriers to democratic engagement for seasonal agricultural workers and migrant social carers.  

· Actively support workers to engage in advocacy, including by providing worker-centred briefings on advocacy processes and meetings, ensuring meaningful participation and leadership by workers.

· Support workers to create spaces for policy influence, engaging in actively listening to worker priorities and concerns.

General

· Support the whole organisation goal to integrate workers in all our work at all levels of the organisation.

· Ensure effective monitoring, evaluation and learning of our work including contributing to organisational processes.

Person Specification

1) KNOWLEDGE AND TECHNICAL SKILLS

• WSC Organisational knowledge, and/or knowledge of the issues on which we work: labour rights, migrant rights, organising, anti-trafficking and human rights.
• Technical understanding of policy specific to the subject areas on which WSC works, particularly opportunity scanning, strategic entry points and key stakeholders of influence.
• Legislation/Policy: The post-holder will lead on the development of policy, engagement with legislation in passage through parliament (UK or Scottish) and implementation of legislation.  Considerable liaison with external stakeholders is required, understanding on how policy/legislation is made and knowledge and understanding of its technical content is essential. 
• Influencing and advocacy: Proven ability to identify key stakeholders of influence and to form strong relationships of influence.

2) QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree level in public policy, law, or human rights or equivalent experience.

The Organising and Local Mobilisation (OLM) Manager is responsible for managing ongoing support to food banks as they organise and campaign for change. This varied, proactive, and fast-paced role will involve working closely with grant funded Local Organisers as part of the Trussell Trust’s Organising Programme, frequently visiting food banks and delivering online and in person training.

You will hold responsibility for providing direct support as food banks develop effective campaign strategies – covering local and Trussell Trust priorities – and ensuring they have the capacity, skills, and resources to deliver them. You will also work closely with other departments at the Trussell Trust and external partners to support food banks outside of the Organising Programme to influence locally and play a leading role in mobilising them to campaign for change.

· Network area-wide delivery of the Organising Programme

Lead and manage the delivery of OLM’s Organising Programme in your network area, recruiting food banks to join, providing in-person and online training and ongoing relational support to Local Organisers to ensure campaign strategies are developed and delivered.  Organise and lead area-wide training, clusters, or events for food bank staff and volunteers to promote co-operation and sharing of good practice around local influencing.

· Supporting food banks to influence locally

Empower food banks to develop their local influencing work, triaging influencing issues and managing input from other relevant Trussell experts to provide ongoing support that enables the food banks to progress their influencing work.

· Mobilising food banks in the Trussell Trust’s campaigns

Support the development and promotion of national Trussell policy campaigns, working with other teams and external partners to engage the food banks you support in taking action – including how they might take ownership of campaigns locally and help shape those priorities.

· Internal stakeholder engagement

Project manage OLM’s involvement in assigned cross-organisational projects – e.g. a policy campaign or strategic project, ensuring the OLM tam are consulted, negotiating with other teams and making decisions accordingly.  As part of an area-based matrix team you’ll work closely with other food bank facing staff to ensure a joined-up approach to food bank support, effective communication, as well as sharing learning and best practice.

To be successful in this role, you need to be educated to GCSE level or equivalent (Grade C / 4) including Maths & English, minimum 5, Learning & Development / CIPD / Training / Teaching or similar relevant qualification, experience in Researching, creating, designing and delivering management development programmes and training  solutions including virtual and blended methods, Skilled and knowledgeable in the development of leaders and managers, learning and organisational development models, continual improvement approaches, methodologies and ability to deliver creative and engaging Management Development events through excellent training and facilitation skills.

About the Role

• Deliver in-house training, development and upskilling programmes which are aligned to meet organisational and individual needs, including induction, people policy, management development, bespoke development programmes for teams, personal skills and other training activities. You’ll take a blended learning approach, tailoring to different learning needs and styles for staff and managers.
• Collaborate with the People and Culture Leadership team to influence and surface organisational matters, to support the delivery of the People Plan, actively working with the Management Development Lead in the development of manager and colleague training and development initiatives ad upskilling to respond to management development improvements
• Train, Guide, coach and advise people managers on good people-practise during change and transition, including coaching, facilitation, mentoring, mediation, to support psychological safety, belonging and retention.
• Support and guide managers on managing their people, through the whole employee lifecycle taking a people centric approach.
