Are you highly organised, resourceful, and passionate about making a difference? The Baobab Centre is seeking an Operations and Admin Assistant to support our vital work with young asylum seekers and refugees.
In this varied role, you’ll work closely with the Operations Manager and admin team to ensure the smooth running of our Centre by managing administrative tasks, assisting with IT and communications, and supporting operations and fundraising initiatives. You’ll also play a part in amplifying the voices of our community through social media and helping with community engagement activites.
If you’re a motivated individual with strong administrative and IT skills, a commitment to human rights, and an interest in supporting vulnerable young people, we’d love to hear from you.
This role is for 3 days per week depending on your preference. Working on Wednesdays is essential to provide reception cover.

The Baobab Centre is a non-residential therapeutic community that supports young asylum seekers and refugees who have experienced human rights abuses and have sought asylum in the UK as unaccompanied minors. Our two focus areas are rehabilitation and justice.

Mental Health: All of the young people Baobab supports suffer significant mental health and developmental difficulties and many function in an unstable and more immature way than their chronological age. Due to their experiences it takes time to gain trust from the young people in our community. As a core member of our team, you will understand the impact of specific human rights abuses on the development of children and young people in exile and their individual experiences of loss, trauma and grief on their mental health and well-being.
Baobab’s Model: Please read the accompanying ‘Baobab Clinical Context and Model’ document for a detailed introduction. It often takes a significant amount of time to understand Baobab’s model of working, which aims for rehabilitation and justice through attending to both the internal and external world of each young. It is important that you strive to have an insight to the experiences of both the internal and external factors impacting on the lives of unaccompanied young people attending our centre. It is also important that you understand the ways in which UK society and policy impacts on young asylum seekers (including invisibility, marginalisation, discrimination, and the fact of waiting in uncertainty for a long time).

Right now, we’re looking for someone like you to join our specialist substance misuse family safeguarding team in Derby who specialises in reducing the harms caused to children and families as a result of parental substance misuse whilst improving parenting ability and family functioning to reduce family breakdown.
Aquarius work with families and young people across a range of home and community settings supporting parents to build insight into the impact of parental substance misuse whilst developing safety and risk management strategies to minimise risk to the wider family.
Your challenge? To support and deliver substance misuse and safeguarding focused interventions with substance using parents through 1:1 support, group facilitation and employing an multi-agency approach alongside voluntary and statutory agencies involved in family support.
Aquarius has a well embedded family service with a think family approach being utilised across the city of Derby We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic person to help deliver this service and expand the family support options to support families in Derby with the aim of improving outcomes for all family members affected by parental substance misuse.
An energetic and confident self-starter, you will need a passion for working with families supported by a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you're used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. You will have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.
This is a permanent part-time role requiring the post holder to work 22.5 per week. Working days can be negotiated as part of interview process.

Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius is looking for a Drug and Alcohol Practitioner to join their Bedfordshire Young People’s Team. Aquarius helps young people aged 5-18 overcome the harm caused by drugs and alcohol by working closely with the individual, family members and other professionals . But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Your challenge? – To provide information and advice, brief interventions and long term structured interventions to support young people who are using drugs and alcohol or being impacted by someone else’s use. You will be conducting assessments, risk assessments, care-planning and working directly with other services such as schools, social care, mental health services and youth offending.The successful candidate must have exceptional organisational skills and the ability to work with other agencies both face to face, email and via telephone.

We are looking for a Senior Research Advisor to work within the Nutrition Unit of Action Against Hunger UK’s Operations Department. The Senior Research Advisor will be expected to
- Lead the implementation of a wide range of research projects (including evidence synthesis, economic evaluation, programme evaluations, clinical trials, and community studies)
- Support the positioning of Action Against Hunger as a key reference on the build-up of evidence in prevention and treatment of malnutrition research Project
- Lead on evidence dissemination, knowledge management, research uptake activities as well as the development of training materials linked to research and Cost Effectiveness analysis.
You will be leading internal projects and external consultancy projects. In addition to members of the nutrition team, you will work with external partners which might include other NGOs, academic partners, UN agencies and independent consultants. Do you want to work as part of a dynamic and engaging team supporting Young People in Northampton? Due to project expansion, Aquarius Young People’s Substance Misuse team are recruiting for several Young People’s Practitioners across the county.
Aquarius has been providing structured and targeted interventions to young people engaging in, at risk of substance misuse or affected by parental substance misuse for many years.
You will work on an outreach basis, including visiting schools, colleges & universities, places of worship, youth service provisions and local community venues. You will help to raise the profile of substance misuse services available to young people and also provide young people with that first point of contact providing advice and further direction into accessing the right support, particularly targeting outreach to engage 'difficult -to-reach' young people.
Holding relevant experience with skills or qualifications in either substance misuse/youth work/psychology/counselling/mental health/social care you will also:
- Have experience of working with at risk/vulnerable people in a community setting
- Be able to deliver group work
- Be knowledgeable about: safeguarding children, confidentiality, consent and mental capacity and Hidden Harm
- Adopt a flexible approach to work - hours and locations

The Postgraduate Diploma in Children and Young People’s (CYP) Psychological Trainings: Therapy is one of the national CYP Mental Health (CYPMH) workforce development programmes, funded by NHS England. This stems from an established programme with an existing team that has run successfully since 2011 when the CYP-IAPT initiative was first introduced and a service transformation programme began, aimed at improving existing CYPMH services.
The Programme Director will lead on the management and operational delivery of the programme, which includes delivering and developing the programme in line with the NHS England National Curriculum, whilst also ensuring it is in compliance with evolving University College London (UCL) academic governance and quality assurance and enhancement frameworks. Our Postgraduate Studies (PGS) department is made up of several other Programme Directors, Deputy Programme Directors, teaching staff and operational support staff, who all contribute in fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment and excellent student experience.
We are seeking a mental health professional with experience of curriculum design, assessment and programme organisation within an Higher Education context. You will demonstrate experience of working in CYPMH services, leadership skills, and the ability to work cross-culturally in relation to clinical practice. A commitment to delivering high-quality standards in teaching and assessment, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment for trainees to enhance student experience is significant for this role.
