Shannon Trust are delighted to be working with His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service (HMPPS) to provide peer-led literacy and numeracy programmes across a number of prisons.  We now have the opportunity to provide a service at HMP Featherstone. Working closely with the prison and their staff, people in prison, Shannon Trust volunteers and mentors, this post will lead the delivery and development of our literacy and numeracy programme at HMP New Featherstone, maximising opportunities for people in prison to learn to read. 

Ideally you will have some experience of prison settings  underpinned by the ability to build relationships and personal qualities that include resilience, determination and a problem-solving approach. 

This role will be prison-based. About the role 

As our Employee Communications and Engagement Lead, you’ll be supporting more than 600 colleagues across England, Scotland, and Wales.

The Model of Care and Quality Improvement Officer role is all about making sure that the care and support models developed and implemented by the National Gambling Support Network (NGSN) are effective, efficient and of high quality. A Recovery Coordinator is needed to provide psychosocial treatments to clients at a service in West London.

If so, CXK is looking for an experienced Careers Adviser at HMP Maidstone and HMP East Sutton Park as part of its expanding and successful in-custody Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) service covering Kent, Surrey, and Sussex.

As part of a collaborative team, you will provide professional, impartial IAG to prison residents, motivate them, develop their work-related skills, and provide overall support to help them find employment, education, training, apprenticeships, or volunteering opportunities upon their release.

You will also manage and support a caseload of peer mentors and provide inspirational IAG and Employability programmes in both 1:1 and group sessions.

To be eligible for this role, you must hold an IAG qualification at level 4 or above. You must also possess the ability to build effective and professional relationships with individual clients, coupled with a non-judgmental attitude and a desire to support people in fulfilling their potential.

Your impact

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Working directly with parents/carers to help shape service- coproduction
• Leading on the recruitment and training of parent/carer volunteers
• Leading the organisation of drop-in sessions for early support
• Leading on marketing and communication through webpage development, marketing materials and social media, ensuring information is coproduced and meets the needs of families/professionals in Sheffield.

Your skills

You will hold a recognised professional qualification (degree or NVQ 4) in social work or social care, health or education. We are particularly interested to hear from applicants who have lived experience of SEND and/or experience of working with families with SEND in an educational environment, local authority, voluntary organisation.

An ability to work collaboratively with families in an inclusive way is essential to this post.

We are actively recruiting for full-time Settling-In Facilitators who will play a vital role in helping individuals at the start of their prison journey to settle into prison life.

If you have experience of delivering provision in group and individual settings and a strong desire to make a positive impact, we would love to hear from you. Experience of supporting individuals as they navigate life’s transitions, including those entering into new environments such as prison is desirable but not essential.

As a Settling-In Facilitator, your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality emotional resilience training sessions to prisoners.  Additionally, you will play a crucial role in training and collaborating with peer mentors to provide ongoing support during the initial stages of an individual’s prison experience.  We understand the importance of your own development, and to support you in becoming a skilled Facilitator, we offer comprehensive training, including opportunities to attain recognised qualifications.
