The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide support and interventions to those affected by domestic abuse to empower and support and break the cycle of domestic abuse throughout their journey with Stop Domestic Abuse, regardless of risk. The Navigator will be committed to family work and proactively work to recognise and implement solution focused actions to ensure eradicate domestic abuse from families lives.
The Domestic Abuse Marginalised Communities Worker will provide additional expertise to the wider team and enrich the service with specialist knowledge and guidance relating to victims who may experience additional barriers to accessing support from our service due to their ethnicity. The Lead Navigator will develop initiatives, workshops and training packages for both internal and external professionals. The role will encompass peer to peer support, direct one-to-one support to victims who may be at medium or high risk of harm, whilst also engaging with communities and local organisations in the local area to improve our response to domestic abuse. This role does not involve the line management of staff.
The Portsmouth Service operates as one team, and all staff are responsible for taking referrals for all aspects of the service, offering immediate support, advice and assessments to clients or people contacting the service, welcoming families into refuge and completing relevant paperwork, and ensuring the smooth running of the service. This will include providing cover when required for absent colleagues to ensure that the core functions of the service are delivered and responding to changing demand in service provision. The Portsmouth Service is a team committed to whole family work, when safe to do safe, creating a family journey through the service.
The Portsmouth Service is staffed 9am-9pm Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. This role’s working pattern will fall within the hours of 9am-5pm Monday- Friday.
It is essential that the postholder has a driving licence and access to a car for work purposes as this role covers multiple sites in Portsmouth.

Main Responsibilities:
- Line manage and appraise staff in line with Pecan’s procedures: Foodbank Manager, Pantry Manager, Operations Manager, and the Development Manager Community Food Programmes.

OVERVIEW
School of Hard Knocks is embarking on an ambitious new 3-year fundraising strategy that will see us more than double our income and increase our audience reach so we can support more young people to complete their education and reach their potential. We have not yet proactively explored challenge events or community fundraising and yet we believe this could be an exciting growth area for the charity. We currently run one special event a year, but again, we see opportunity to grow our calendar of special and donor engagement events.
The purpose of this role is to build challenge and special event and community fundraising to support the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy. You will be an enthusiastic fundraiser, focused on building growth in our events portfolio and bringing creativity and events knowledge to the role. You will develop excellent relationships with our donors and corporate partners who engage in our events, supporting them to maximise their fundraising for the charity.
You will need to use your experience, creativity and proven event planning skills to ensure the success of our ambitious plans for achieving an effective events calendar for the charity.
This is a maternity cover contract with the potential to extend after the initial 12 months.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Events Fundraising:
- Work to achieve the Fundraising strategy by effectively initiating and delivering a calendar of challenge and special events suitable for our audiences across the UK, that will drive audience reach and income, focusing on delivering a good return on investment and achieving set objectives.
- Develop excellent donor journeys for all participants and attendees, putting in place effective and efficient processes and procedures.
- Work with the Marketing and Communications Manager to design and implement appropriate marketing strategies to maximise participation for all events including pre-, during- and post-event publicity.
- With support from the Communications team, develop timely social media content and achieve local media coverage by gathering compelling supporter stories.
- Ensure all supporter records are kept up to date with all interactions and the highest quality data is captured.
- Effectively follow all appropriate protocols and policies for the handling and receipting of donations and sponsorship monies and accurate recording of supporter information. Ensure all information is recorded in line with data protection legislation (GDPR).
- Work with the wider Fundraising and Communications Team to ensure a seamless donor experience for all and optimise cross-selling opportunities where appropriate.
- Monitor progress against set KPIs, report analysis of challenge events to the Director of Fundraising and review performance to ensure effectiveness. Provide relevant data and insight to inform next steps and plans for future growth.
Community Fundraising:
- Work with the Director of Fundraising to devise and implement an annual fundraising plan for community fundraising.
- Work with the Regional Fundraising Managers to maximise opportunities for Community fundraising in the areas we work in.
- Steward all community fundraising activities in England, ensuring our supporters have all the information and materials they need to make their events a success.
- Proactively seek new community partnership opportunities. Liaise with relevant members of staff to attend new business meetings and write compelling cases for support to win local community partnerships.
Other:
- Deliver safe fundraising events and activities ensuring the charity always operates within legal requirements and best practice. Ensure risk assessments are completed on events.
- Be willing and flexible to work outside of office hours to attend events, when necessary. Must be willing to travel around the UK on occasions to attend fundraising events and activities.
- Foster effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders including Corporate Social Responsibility Managers, Chairs & Trusties, senior volunteers and event coordinators.
- Represent the Charity’s Mission by speaking passionately about the charity to donors, and delivering presentations and talks on occasions, inspiring them to join in our mission to make a difference.
- Proactively seek out new opportunities for the charity to grow our income.
- Always work to collaborate across teams to enhance fundraising efforts and strengthen donor engagement.
- Assist in developing fundraising strategies and contribute innovative ideas.
ABOUT YOU
Knowledge & Experience:
- Fundraising Expertise: A proven track record of achieving financial targets through fundraising activities, ideally in mass participation and/or special events.
- Relationship Management: Demonstrable experience in building and nurturing strong relationships with a wide variety of individuals – ranging from community fundraisers to senior volunteers or senior-level corporate executives - to drive engagement and income. Skilled in identifying, establishing, and retaining new supporters, with a focus on effective supporter care and stewardship.
- Digital Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of CRM systems and relevant digital platforms to manage supporter data, track engagement, and enhance communication strategies. Experience using digital tools to streamline processes and optimise fundraising outcomes.
- Fundraising legalities and health and safety. Demonstrable understanding of Fundraising legalities and requirements to hosting a safe fundraising event for all. Excellent understanding of GDPR and integrity in data handling and management.
Skills:

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT
- This is an interim role, for 12 months from January 2025.
- The salary is £30,000 - 32,000 depending on experience.
- You will get 25 days annual leave per year plus UK National Holidays. Also, we give any normal working days between Christmas and New Year as additional holidays.

Job Purpose
We are seeking a creative and driven philanthropy manager to join our team on a permanent basis. Working alongside members of the wider team, you will help deliver the best possible experience to some of the charity’s most committed donors through a mixture of bespoke events, personalised communications, and recognition opportunities across our hospital sites.
Specifically, this role will lead the team’s efforts in working with our mid-level donors, developing our first ever patrons’ programme and providing them with a gold-standard experience that ensures continued support of the Royal Free Charity.

Responsibilities
Leading the Royal Free Charity’s patrons’ programme
· Lead all aspects of the Royal Free Charity’s patrons’ programme, from recruitment through to stewardship and renewal efforts.
· Work with senior stakeholders to develop and launch a new strategy for the programme, illustrating the potential overlap between patronage and other areas of support for the charity, as well as opportunities to uplift levels of support or additional gifts.
· Manage the day-to-day delivery of the patrons’ programme including coordinating the renewals process and responding to enquiries.
· Effectively promote the programme across a range of audiences, working with colleagues to identify and recruit prospects and deliver retention activity to uplift individuals to patronage and beyond.
· Develop and deliver the engagement programme for patrons, collaborating with colleagues on stewardship and cultivation plans including a programme of communications and touchpoints, including events.
· Draft engaging materials, such as letters, invitations, and thank you communications, to ensure patrons feel valued and have a positive donor experience.

Leading the Royal Free Charity’s mid-level programme
· Alongside the patrons’ programme, lead and deliver a mid-level giving retention and recruitment strategy, for donors giving between £1,000 and £10,000 to the charity each year, working with colleagues to understand potential opportunities for uplift in giving.
· Support the development and delivery of engaging events, and bespoke communications for mid-level donors.
· Ensure that mid-level donors have the best possible experience of giving to the charity, by engaging with colleagues on the development of appeals to this audience, stewarding those giving at this level, and attracting new supporters to grow the programme.
· Contribute to analysis and commentary on the performance of the programme.
· Work with the public fundraising team to thank mid-level donors to fundraising appeals, creating updates and reports, and providing an excellent supporter experience to maximise the opportunity for a longer-term relationship beyond specific appeals.
· Work closely with charity colleagues and external suppliers to ensure fundraising activities are delivered to agreed plans, budgets, and timelines.
· Support the fundraising activities of the wider philanthropy & campaigns team through identifying donors who may give major gifts or be interested in legacy giving.

Our dynamic fundraising department generated £4.5 million through donations in 2023/2024, and we are now preparing for an ambitious multi-million-pound campaign in support of a ground-breaking cancer centre on the Royal Free Hospital site.

Responsible for attracting and retaining donors, and delivering an outstanding supporter experience, the fundraising department comprises two teams which work closely together to achieve our shared objectives:
· Our Philanthropy & Campaigns team builds relationships with individual philanthropists, trusts, foundations, corporate organisations, and intermediaries, giving or facilitating donations of £10,000 or more to the charity each year. They lead major appeal activity for the charity, currently focused on the acquisition of a new surgical robot, our forthcoming cancer campaign, our essential volunteering, complementary therapy and support services, the charity’s first patron programme, and special events to support these activities.
· Our Public Fundraising team harnesses the support and energy of individuals and groups, helping them to give back in the way that works for them. About CARIS Families
CARIS Families is a small, frontline charity that supports families who are homeless and living in overcrowded multi-occupant hostels in the London Boroughs of Hackney and Camden. Life in temporary accommodation hostels entrenches children and their parents in poverty and disadvantage. Families suffer from acute overcrowding, inadequate basic facilities and a permanent sense of unsafety. The nature of hostel life isolates people from their support networks, decimates their physical and mental health and becomes an adverse life experience in itself for families already suffering the trauma of having become homeless.
CARIS Families exists to provide early intervention to mitigate the worst effects of hostel life and homelessness for children and parents in our four target hostels. We provide a holistic family support service that case-works with each family individually to reduce financial and other pressures on them as they wait for a permanent home. We also use our data and learned experiences about temporary accommodation to join campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation policy and practice, both locally and nationally.
We have just received funding to employ a dedicated Housing Rights Manager for the next two years. This is an exciting addition to our team, as it will be our first staff member dedicated to helping our homeless families with their housing case. The housing system is notoriously opaque: families tell us it can be a hopeless minefield to navigate independently and that they often can’t access meaningful help with it, resulting in years-long hostel stays. Our Housing Rights Manager will step into the gap and work with families on an individual basis to gain the information and support they need to progress their housing case and expedite their move-on into a suitable home.
About the role
Our Housing Rights Manager will be a key member of our Family Support Service. They will manage a weekly drop-in clinic from within the hostels where they will assess new housing cases and develop a support plan with families. They will manage a full housing caseload of housing support work, collaborating with relevant local groups, local authority partners and law centres to progress families’ housing cases. They will learn from the barriers families tell us they face, develop CARIS Families’ housing advice service in response and use these learnings to contribute to campaigns for reform to temporary accommodation practices and policies locally and nationally.
In their first year, the Housing Rights Manager will work in partnership with housing solicitors at Shelter to write a Housing Information and Rights handbook tailored to the processes of our target boroughs. The handbook will aim to demystify the temporary accommodation system in our two boroughs, explain residents’ legal rights and help them understand their options. It will form a key part of the support we can offer and allow us to reach many more families in hostels than our small staff team can individually casework with.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed staff team of just 5, working in a person-centred and community-minded way to make a real difference to families on the frontline of inner-London’s housing crisis.

Responsibilities and areas of work
This important role will seek to develop our Major Donor income stream, seeking to grow

one who has the capacity to give £5,000+ per year and who relishes the opportunity to
have one-to-one, personalised interactions with CBM.
This role will seek to identify new high-level donors, as well as help to develop existing
relationships with our generous supporters.
Working closely with the Head of Philanthropy, CEO and Leadership Team, other team
members and (occasionally) external consultants, this role focusses on building and
consolidating our major donor portfolio, so increasing our donor base and thus our in-year
and pledged income.
Main Goal:
To successfully steward a portfolio of new and existing major donors through tailored
approaches, so securing repeat and multi-year gifts to achieve agreed income targets and
KPIs.
This will be achieved through:
1. New business acquisition:
a) Analysing our current supporter base to build a prospect list, using our database
(Salesforce) and external databases, to assess the potential to upgrade active,
lapsed and prospective major donors.
b) Researching, identifying and securing major donor prospects, through the
identification of high-net-worth individuals who may have an interest in CBM’s work,
and through proactive and effective networking, including working with our Trustees,
Patrons and Ambassadors.
c) Identifying next steps and determining tactics for engagement, including 1:1
working, giving group presentations and delivering pitches at various levels, and
leading on their facilitation.
d) Attending networking opportunities in Cambridge, London and the surrounding
areas to represent CBM and to engage potential major donors in our work
2. Stewardship and cultivation of current and active donors:
a) Developing and implementing tailored cultivation and stewardship plans, so that
individuals are engaged in a bespoke manner, ensuring that they feel a part of CBM
and that their generosity is recognised, through regular reporting, interactions,
updates and tailored approaches.
b) Developing donor-centric applications, proposals and initial approaches (by post,
email, phone and face-to-face) that are driven by insight on donors’ individual needs
and preferences and are tailored to their interests and requirements, following up as
required.
c) Reporting to donors in both formal and informal ways, as appropriate, to ensure
they are kept up to date with CBM, the impact of their grant and project
developments.
d) Hosting and facilitating face-to-face and online meetings with high-level donors,
including organising dates, venues and agendas/ talking points, and creating
Meeting Briefs for all attendees to ensure positive outcomes as far as possible.
e) Promoting the importance of legacies, and legacy income, where appropriate, and
to steward those who have pledged.
f) Organising and managing the successful delivery of at least one Major Donor Event
annually (cultivation, stewardship, thanking etc), to ensure positive relations and
potential new business, in collaboration with our Fundraising and Programme
colleagues.
g) Supporting the Head of Philanthropy and the Philanthropy Officer on the
identification, stewardship and cultivation of potential corporate partners.
3. Proposal and Report Writing
a) Crafting compelling proposals and reports that meet the bespoke needs of major
donors whilst meeting the needs of CBM and our Programme delivery colleagues,
within agreed deadlines.
b) Working with members of the Programmes Team to ensure the accuracy of major
donor proposals / reports, and with members of the Fundraising & Communications
Team to ensure consistency of messaging.
c) Working with the Philanthropy Team to develop new projects/ themes/ appeals for
potential projects.
d) Supporting the Head of Philanthropy on collating information and providing reports
to Foundation donors as needed.
4. Planning and Budgeting
a) Contributing to the development of an Income Generation and Engagement
strategy, led by the Director of Fundraising, Impact & Communications.
b) Closely monitoring income and expenditure, reporting to the Head of Philanthropy
where necessary, and contributing to the creation of yearly fundraising budgets and
plans and quarterly Board Reports.
c) Establishing, monitoring and reporting on key performance indicators, milestones
and targets to facilitate informed decisions and improved working practice.
5. Other
a) Ensuring all information, donor activity is recorded and kept up-to-date on our
database to fully-inform any approaches/meetings.
b) Providing proof-reading and copy-editing support to colleagues.
c) Helping to develop a culture of enthusiasm and success, reflecting the ambitions of
CBM, and promoting positive working and innovation.
d) Ensuring that the values of CBM UK are understood by external partners and

The Role

Ways of Working:
The majority of our roles can be performed remotely in the UK, but there are likely to be times when you will be required to come to your contracted office (up to 2-4 days per month or 6-8 days per quarter). This will be agreed with your Line Manager and team and is intended to be time spent on collaborating with colleagues and relationship building.
Please note: travel costs to your contracted office will be at your own expense.
