Job Purpose
 
As BSR’s Membership Manager you will be responsible for overseeing BSR’s membership offer. You’ll work on plans to recruit members across a range of roles in the rheumatology specialty and engagement tactics to ensure members are retained year on year. 

Working closely with the Head of Marketing, Communications and Membership, you’ll drive forward a compelling value proposition for membership by refining our benefits package and developing tailored audience content. With responsibility for our digital-first membership engagement plans, you’ll work on strategies that drive our engagement, provide real-time feedback and give us insight into how our members behave. 

You’ll lead and coach a Membership Executive to develop their skills and together, provide excellent customer service and membership experience. 

Main responsibilities

Membership recruitment and retention 

• Develop and execute strategies for acquiring new members 
• Engage in digital outreach and in-person networking to promote BSR membership and develop a deep understanding of our audiences and the pressures they face 
• Cultivate relationships with current members to ensure high retention rates and insightful feedback loops 
• Monitor membership trends and adjust recruitment and retention strategies as necessary
• Support strategic networking by facilitating meetings with members and the Senior Management Team/President(s)

Customer service and member engagement 

• Serve as a key point of contact for all member enquiries, providing an exceptional service 
• Ensure a positive experience for new and existing members with engaging communications, including regular newsletters and lifecycle campaigns 
• Organise and host events, webinars, and other member engagement activities to foster community 

Database and process management 

• Maintain an up-to-date and accurate membership database (CRM) and an internal super-user 
• Track membership renewals, payments, and communication preferences 
• Analyse membership data to identify trends, opportunities for growth, and areas for improvement 
• Oversee membership billing, including invoicing, payment tracking, and collection efforts 
• Monitor membership revenue and work with the finance team to report on financial performance
• Develop pricing strategies as needed

Reporting and analysis

• Prepare regular reports on membership growth, retention, engagement, and financials for the Senior Management Team and Board of Trustees 
• Use data and feedback to continuously improve the membership offering from BSR 
• Stay up-to-date on membership trends, membership models, and best practices to keep the BSR offer relevant

• Supporting the development of the NYA research and data hub, including external research collation and data visualisation.
• Leading on evaluations to meet funder requirements and contribute to NYA’s growing evidence base.

Objective

To increase fundraised income for BRACE and dementia research through major donors and high-value supporters, both cultivating existing supporters to increase their support and networking to develop new major donors.

Role

As our Major Donor & Philanthropy Fundraiser, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive major giving programme to increase revenue from high-value supporters. This is a new and exciting opportunity to establish and grow this income stream for BRACE, requiring proven experience in securing major gifts.

Key Tasks:

Major Donor Fundraising

• Develop and implement a strategic plan to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward high net worth individuals.

• Build and maintain a strong portfolio of potential funding sources through thorough prospect research.​

• Manage a diverse portfolio of existing and new major donors, delivering excellent relationship management to meet ambitious individual fundraising targets.​

• Build, manage, and maintain a full and consistent pipeline of prospects, ensuring timely progression through each stage from identification to stewardship.​

• Conduct frequent and regular contact with donors and prospects by phone, video, and in-person meetings, utilizing the Head of Fundraising and CEO for potential new and existing high net stakeholders.​

• Develop compelling, tailored proposals and funding applications to secure significant donations.​

• Create and implement bespoke stewardship plans to ensure long-term support.​

• Represent BRACE at networking events to build relationships with potential high-value supporters.​

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all major donor activity in our database.​

Strategy & Planning

• Work closely with the Head of Fundraising to develop and implement a major donor fundraising strategy.​

• Monitor performance against budget targets and analyze data to support future budgeting.​

• Contribute to the overall fundraising strategy of the charity.​

• Stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in major donor fundraising.​

General Responsibilities

• Be an active and supportive member of the BRACE team, supporting colleagues across the organization to support the charity’s wider organizational goals and objectives.​

• Gain and maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of the charity's work, priorities, and future plans.​

• Assist the CEO, Head of Fundraising, and other colleagues with charity-wide development initiatives.​

• Attend meetings and events as required both during and outside normal office hours, including the annual Let’s Talk Dementia.​

South West Community Chaplaincy (SWCC) aims to provide effective care and community support for people as they leave prison and re-integrate back into the locality, within the counties of Devon, Cornwall and West Somerset.  This includes mentoring, practical support and signposting to assist the integration of ex-prisoners into their communities, in collaboration with other professionals.

We are actively seeking to strengthen our team of Community Chaplains and specifically to appoint a new Community Chaplain in Cornwall, to work with people in the community after they have served a sentence.  The role is also a strategic one, in that it will involve extending the network of support in the county, through the development of support hubs with other service providers.
