What will you be doing?

You will be joining Caxton Youth Organisation during an exciting time in our strategy, as we aim to maximise our reach and support the wellbeing of over sixty learning disabled and autistic 11–25-year-olds in Westminster each year, by creating communities, breaking barriers and empowering young people through youth work. You will be central to this, developing a team of youth workers and ensuring our programmes are delivered successfully. As well as maintaining top quality accessible activities, embedding referral and activity partnerships. You will be working directly with young people 1-2 evening sessions a week and on incredible trips around the community.

You will have demonstrable experience of team management and will line manage an amazing team of youth workers supporting them to grow and thrive and deliver the best outcomes for young people. You will support the organisation to meet deadlines and complete reports to be able to keep Caxton as a sustainable and impactful organisation. You will have demonstrated your ability to use reflective youth work practice and flexibility and innovation across your career. As an outstanding communicator, you will possess an exceptional ability to develop and maintain partnerships, capable of securing commitment to Caxton Youth Organisation and building a confident team. You will have proven experience of strategically thinking about developing projects and programmes for young people.

Ambition Aspire Achieve was founded in 2016 by Kevin Jenkins OBE, because of a longstanding desire to provide opportunities for disadvantaged young people. We deliver a wide range of projects and services based out of our youth hubs, the Terence Brown Arc in the Park in Canning Town and the Glyn Hopkin Abbey Hub in Stratford, and across local communities in Newham via a programme of detached outreach work. Starting early, we work with children as young as 5 years old, right up to 25 as young people transition into early adulthood. Reflecting our approach that every young child and person deserves the best chance in life, our work now reaches over 950 children and young people every year, including large numbers who are vulnerable and at-risk.

The Role

The role offers an exciting opportunity to join AAA’s management and coordination team, playing a key part in supporting vulnerable young people to reach their full potential, whilst making a significant contribution to the development of our youth programmes. Recruited on a full-time basis (with part time options considered), responsibilities include:

• Developing, overseeing and delivering youth projects and programmes based out of AAA’s youth hubs, ensuring project milestones, outputs and outcomes are met or exceeded in line with funding agreements.
• Monitoring and evaluating our targeted youth projects and programmes, providing reports to the Chief Executive, Board of Trustees and key funders as required.
• Leading and line managing a small team of youth workers, enabling the delivery of high-quality youth work programmes
• Taking a lead on developing youth voice and involvement and supporting peer leaders.
• Working collaboratively with key partners (e.g., schools, community stakeholders) to support the recruitment of young people and the effective delivery of provision.
• Developing mentoring activities for young people, and supporting the delivery of life-skills and personal development sessions. 
• Assisting young people in identifying progression opportunities and providing on-going transition support.
• Liaising with parents/carers of young people participating in our projects, building strong relationships to support the development of service-users.
• Supporting the development of new youth programmes and promoting AAA’s youth offer via attending local youth forums, networking and funder events.

Job Purpose

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As our Alumni Relations Lead you will:

• Develop and maintain an ongoing dialogue with our alumni community through focus groups and research to reach a clear understanding of what they want and need from us, including the differences between Sixth Form and apprentice alumni.
• Undertake regular data collection cycles to track the current employment and needs of our current and future alumni. This will include but is not limited to using surveys  and research. Develop a systematic approach to holding data (including data protection) and CRM.
• Work with your manager to develop an ambitious approach to how we understand both the impact of our alumni in their roles and our continuing impact on their career.
• Deliver against programme KPIs and continuously drive improvement.
• Deliver and shape a programme of planned communications and marketing to the alumni community to drive engagement.
• Deliver and shape a programme of both in person and virtual events and activities to drive impact. These include but are not limited to:  providing specific services e.g. jobs board, career coaching, networking events.

About Katherine Low Settlement  

Katherine Low Settlement is a busy, local charity that has been serving Battersea and the wider Wandsworth community since 1924. We are dedicated to building stronger communities and enable people to challenge and find ways out of poverty and isolation.

We run a range of our own community services to support older people and children, young people, and their families from refugee communities. We campaign for social change. We incubate and support other charities and social businesses to thrive. Each week we work with 30+ charities and community groups supporting more than 1,000 people.

Role Purpose

Provide strategic leadership for KLS’ Refugee Family Programme, ensuring that programme direction and delivery is strategically aligned, responds to learning and changes in context, and maximises our impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities 

• Providing clear and steady leadership and management to all aspects of our newly formed Refugee Family programme, which has grown out of previous separate projects to better meet the holistic needs of people we support.
• Managing and developing the budget and finances; whilst supporting the fundraising lead to secure its financial viability.
• Directly lead the scoping and planning of the Refugee Family Programme Strategy to:
  • Develop and expand existing programmes.
  • Identify opportunities to create, innovate and improve projects within the Refugee Family Programme - such as community outreach workshops, advocacy support, Educational Classes, and Groups, Mentoring and Clubs - to meet the needs of the people we support and those who may need our support in the future.
  • Undertake regular horizon scanning and environmental analysis to ensure KLS has a full understanding of the potential for growth and programme development associated with the current, future and changing demand and need. 
  • Build and maintain effective networks and partnerships that will ultimately support people to realise their potential.
  • Work with the Chief Operating Officer to develop appropriate processes, systems and working practices that create a continuous improvement approach and ensure insights-based impact reporting, evaluation and decision making.

• Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the Refugee Family Programme Team, working with Safeguarding Officers and Duty Leads to ensure all safeguarding concerns are managed and recorded appropriately and safeguarding cover is maintained across the team in line with KLS’ procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Extensive leadership and management experience, coupled with a track record of leading the strategic development of services for adults and children (of all ages) from the refugee community that improve their access to education and justice, reduce their isolation and improve their ability to navigate their journey.
• Extensive experience of working with people from vulnerable groups, especially children and young people, ensuring that clients’ needs are at the forefront of service planning and delivery.
• Experience of working with refugee communities.

We are seeking a Mission Enabler, Regional Mission to work in partnership with key staff across the Movement. They will provide direction and energy to Scripture Union’s Regional Ministry with a focus on establishing and sustaining ministry opportunities. This will require the person to recruit, motivate, train, equip and support a large number of volunteers/Faith Guides, with whom they work in partnership as well as leading by example, through the modelling of excellent mission delivery to children and young people consistent with Scripture Union’s mission. This role will the cover Hampshire, Surrey and Sussex areas.

The successful candidate will:

· Identify, recruit and support Faith Guides, volunteers and Local Mission Partners (LMPs) through a range of methods, including electronic, phone and face to face.

· Provide relevant coaching and/or mentoring, equipping and resourcing for Faith Guides, volunteers and LMPs.

· Lead local mission activity within Scripture Union’s mission framework, establishing a clear hand-over process and timetable to local church partners.

· Pioneer new approaches/ideas in line with SU’s strategy that have the potential to be replicated elsewhere and lead to a greater scale and depth of mission activity.

· Support, by promotion or direct involvement,  SU’s wider programme of holidays and missions across England and Wales and, if appropriate, internationally.

The Salvation Army are partnering with the University of Stirling via the Salvation Army Centre for Addiction Services and Research to deliver a trial for the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). This unique and innovative social care trial will examine the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of a Peer Navigator/peer support intervention for people experiencing homelessness and problems with substance use. We are now looking for a Peer Navigator (lived experience practitioner) within our Homelessness service to deliver a relationship-based intervention to those experiencing drug and alcohol problems and homelessness, providing both practical and emotional support.

Key Responsibilities: The role of Peer Navigator (Lived Experience Practitioner) is fundamental to The Salvation Army’s desire to help vulnerable clients achieve positive outcomes and as such you will be passionate, target driven, dynamic and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of services for vulnerable clients in a competitive climate. You will also champion excellence in terms of ensuring our clients are central to our services and successful individual outcomes are achieved.

There is a requirement to work flexibly to meet the needs of participants/client, due to the nature of this particular role, including the outreach element. The usual pattern of work will be Monday-Friday with hours between 8am-6pm. However, some working outside these hours may be requested, depending on the needs of the people you will be supporting. Work life balance will be taken into consideration and individual needs can be discussed with line managers.

The successful candidate(s) will be able to demonstrate:

• Their own personal (not family related) experience of homelessness and/or problem alcohol/drug use.
• A passion for supporting vulnerable people, with strong previous experience of working successfully in a similar role, and good knowledge of drug and alcohol issues including harm reduction models.
• Genuine compassion and non-judgemental attitude for people in need with challenging lives.
• Knowledge of the main support needs of people experiencing homelessness and other forms of vulnerability, including problem substance use and challenges with the welfare benefit system.

We want local people's voices to be heard, but more than that - we want them to take an active part in a community's regeneration..

General Information

Big Local Works (BLW) is a community-focused economic inclusion charity based in Bermondsey, South East London. We want to help create a thriving, inclusive local economy and community in which everyone can participate.

To make this happen, we maximise local people’s financial and economic wellbeing to reduce poverty and hardship, and give them support to find sustainable, active routes out of poverty, including through employment and enterprise.

We deliver our support in the community through three main services:

• Expert welfare and benefits advice and advocacy for local people experiencing poverty and hardship
• Employability Skills training and coaching to help people access ways of increasing their earned income
• Start-up and enterprise support for clients who wish to start trading on the local ‘Blue Market’

People Powered Regeneration

As well as continuing to offer an ever-wider range of individual support, we now have a strategic vision to create a ‘people-powered regeneration’ in an area already undergoing massive redevelopment by property developers.

In July 2019, a community campaign was successful in securing £2m funding from the GLA for the ‘Made in Bermondsey’ regeneration project centred on making key improvements to the local market place, the Blue Market in South Bermondsey.

Final works were completed in July 2022 and the market now has a first-class infrastructure for traders, local residents and visitors to use and enjoy the Blue Market place. The market also showcases a vision of a better future for the local area: a more prosperous, resilient and connected local community where people come together to trade, socialise, and celebrate across the diverse boundaries. We need to pay special attention to BAME, and recent migrant, communities who have begun to settle in Bermondsey after many years of exclusion.

Through our work, we seek to empower local people, encourage enterprise and community activity, and support the regeneration of an area that has long suffered from the effects of deprivation. Most recently, we have been successful in securing £200,000 from the Esmee Fairbairn Charity for strategy and community engagement support in the local area.

Our key goals are:

• Local people have more say over the changes in their local community.

This means that local people are actively involved in the development of place-based community assets, enterprises and projects. Local people will have more influence on local development and regeneration.

• ·A more diverse range of local people work together to improve their community.

This means community members from a wider range of backgrounds become active citizens. There are better relationships and increased collaboration between local stakeholders.

• People feel proud of their local area, and hopeful for the future.

This means stories and messages about the area are more inclusive and welcoming of diverse perspectives and communities. People are better informed, and know more about the opportunities and assets in their local community.

Community Organiser – Enterprise and Engagement

Over the past 2 years, we’ve undertaken in-depth research and community mapping to understand our area's needs, assets and lived experiences.

This role has three key responsibilities:

1. Outreach and engagement with local communities to help them build a stronger voice during regeneration

2. Supporting the development of new initiatives by local people, focused on microenterprise and wider community activity

3. Ensuring that a wider range of local people are involved and included in community activity, and their voices heard – especially those from marginalized communities

Key Tasks include

Role overview:

• Apply recognised community organising principles and practices to support the development of new initiatives in the local area.
• Broker collaborations and relationships between local groups, helping them develop a shared voice during regeneration.
• Identify and develop active citizens, and support them to develop and deliver their own individual and shared community Initiatives, including those focused on enterprise and wider community activity
• Facilitate groups and provide ‘servant leadership’ for community groups where appropriate, managing conflict effectively
• Develop effective and positive relationships with local stakeholders (including, for example, local councillors, community networks and leaders, and partner organisations), communicating assertively, and with diplomacy and tact.
• Organise Events: Plan and host events, both online and in person, to strengthen community ties and increase visibility.
• Work closely with the Business Improvement District, local charities and businesses and key strategic partners to help us achieve the overall aims of the People-Powered Regeneration
• Build and maintain a network of contacts among our priority groups and communicate efficiently with each one
• Lead on day to day local communications and marketing, supporting the development of newsletters and online content, with appropriate support and resource
• Contribute to research and evaluation across activities to ensure our work has the best possible impact
• Represent the work to existing and potential supporters, and the local community, to secure buy-in and support for the programme

Person Specification: (Key Skills that would help you in this role)

Skills, knowledge and experience

• Experience of developing relationships with a range of different and diverse community groups especially focusing on historically marginalised groups, especially BAME and recent migrant communities, as well as communities of faith, LGBT+ people, and others.
• A strong understanding of, and commitment to, the principles and practices of equalities, diversity and inclusion and how these relate to community organising.
• Demonstrable experience of maintaining strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and proactively; with effective time management and prioritisation skills, to be able to multitask.
• Ability to communicate confidently, professionally, and approachably.
• Demonstrable high-quality writing skills and experience of using digital technologies for marketing and community engagement (such as social media, website content management eg. Wordpress, Squarespace).
• Experience of managing a budget.
• Professional IT skills including confidence using Microsoft Office and Google Drive

You will be a creative self-starter who will support the service and look for innovative solutions to support clients with complex needs. You are confident professional relationship builder and has good awareness of Safeguarding procedures. With good knowledge of the criminal justice system and awareness of other support provisions within the North London area.

The Role

You will work as part of a city-wide team of Early Help Development Workers as well as on a locality basis to ensure that they can combine targeted work with locality needs.  To be successful as the Young Women’s Keyworker you will:

Bring an in-depth knowledge of issues facing women offenders and those at risk of offending; both in and out of the Criminal Justice System. Have a strong understanding of the context and challenges facing vulnerable young women and girls, including the impacts of domestic violence, mental health, and sexual health.

Bring a significant experience of working with young women experiencing issues related to offending and experience of community engagement, advocacy and support work with young people and have proven practical experience of using motivational interviewing and coaching techniques with young women and girls, using a woman-centred approach to build trust and rapport.  You will demonstrate the ability to work in partnership with relevant statutory and voluntary groups, developing and maintaining strong constructive working relationships.

The Charity are searching for a new Head of Development who will play an integral role in designing and delivering a fundraising strategy and lead a brilliant team to success. The Role

The permanent role is full time, 40 hours per week, and comes with a salary of £50,000-£55,000 p/a. They have a stunning London location, and given the nature of the charity, is primarily office-based, however some remote working is possible:

• £50,000-£55,000 dependent on experience
• Location: Office working, with remote working possible
• 40 hours per week, core hours are between 10am and 6pm. Some evening and weekend work will be required (for which time off in lieu will be given)
• Line management of a team of 5 including 3 Managers, 1 Coordinator and 1 Assistant
• 22 days annual leave + public holidays
• Pension scheme

The Head of Development will deliver the charity's ambitious 3-year fundraising strategy and oversee all fundraising campaigns across membership, individual giving, trusts, foundations, and corporate support, as well as providing excellent stewardship to major donors. They will guide, inspire and support a high-performing and collaborative development team to achieve annual fundraising goals, as well as overseeing internal fundraising processes.

The postholder will manage and grow a portfolio of supporters, and work closely with the CEO on one-off major gift campaigns. They will also provide stewardship of funders to the highest standard, ensuring the delivery of promised benefits to all members and supporters, such as complimentary ticket requests, special events, and rehearsal attendance. Additionally, they will oversee the messaging and strategy for legacy giving and manage an engaging communications schedule for supporters that conveys the company's key messages and values.

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way. 

This role sits within our Youth Impact Domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need it. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services around the country. 

Climb are an Prevention and Early Intervention Service for 10-17 year old's who may vulnerable to criminal exploitation and/or at risk of entering the criminal justice system. We offer 1-1 outreach support and access to positive diversionary activities in their local areas.

This is an exciting role within an established and expanding service across West Mercia. There are a number of varied, practitioner roles that are set to increase. We are currently looking for a Exploitation Practitioner to join our dynamic, ambitious team. 

This role will support young people at risk of criminal exploitation or entering the criminal justice system; at an early intervention level. This will be through 1-1, direct work and support in accessing positive diversionary activities, therefore reducing the risk. It will also require excellent mutli-agency work.

This role is for people with a passion in supporting vulnerable young people on a 1-1 basis, in raising their aspirations, building their confidence, working together with professionals to ensure the most appropriate, robust and holistic support is offered to meet each individual's needs. A key part of this role will be your ability to positively impact the lives of Children and Young people.

You will need to be able to engage with professional colleagues also, have presentation skills, and be able to bring people together around mutual goals.

Although the contracts are home based, there will be a lot of daily travel across Telford or Shropshire area. Although there is no specific office base, you will be part of a geographically based team and will be well supported by the management team and all of your colleagues.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

In order to be successful in this role, you must have: 

Basic knowledge child exploitation

Relevant experience of working with a diverse range of complex young people

The ability to demonstrate and understand safeguarding and risk management. 

Experience of Partnership and Multi-agency working 

Excellent time management skills

Administrative skills

The ability to adhere to organisational quality standards and policies.

Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle.
