The role of Finance Manager

​The Finance Manager will oversee the finance operations and lead on the preparation of management accounts, budgets, funding requests and internal and external reporting. The Finance Manager plays a crucial role in helping the Board and leadership team understand their performance and their ability to deliver an ambitious growth plan over the next five years. This job presents a great opportunity for someone experienced with charity management accounting and reporting who has a keen eye for detail and process improvement and a desire to be part of a charity that’s only going to get bigger and more influential!

The Finance Manager is one of just 3 members of the Finance & Operations team including the COO and the Finance & Administration Officer. We’re looking for someone dynamic and driven who likes to work autonomously, solve problems pragmatically and plan and organise their time effectively.

We have offices in London and Huddersfield which are easily accessible by road or public transport. We support hybrid working but attendance in one of the offices [dependent on your location] is required on an average of 1 day per week. We are looking for a Regional Development Executive to join our London-based team, The Citizens Foundation (UK). The Regional Development Executive will work closely with the CEO to develop the regional fundraising strategy and ensure it is delivered effectively. He or she will play a pivotal role in developing and managing strong relationships with existing and new supporters, with the aim of increasing TCF-UK’s funding and brand awareness on a regional level. Responsibilities

· Develop and execute an annual development plan and budget, focused on identifying and building new groups of supporters (“chapters”) across cities as per the strategy and priority of TCF-UK.

· Achieve fundraising targets, while adhering to the fundraising budget, and thereby delivering a high rate on investment.

· Develop a programme of fundraising activities and initiatives, with the aim of growing regional income for TCF.

· Research, identify and network with key individuals in groups in the community who will support fundraising events and activities.

· Recruit, manage and support fundraising volunteers and supporters.

· Provide support and guidance to groups and individuals in the community who are fundraising on behalf of TCF.

· Manage and grow the portfolio of existing and potential HNWI’s in the assigned region, ensuring that all donors receive highest possible care. 

· Attend, promote and raise funds for TCF-UK at events organised by TCF supporters or other organisations.

· Develop strategic relationships with key stakeholders (media agencies, journalists etc.) and leverage these to drive awareness about TCF.

· Ensure all fundraising activities comply with TCF’s guidelines as well as the statutory guidelines.

· Provide timely reports to the CEO and the Board on progress of all fundraising activities.

· Ensure donor, stakeholder and volunteer data is accurately captured and managed in the CRM. 

Personal Specifications:

· Bachelors degree

· Excellent interpersonal skills, with ability to connect, network and build relationships.

· Broad understanding of fundraising techniques, volunteer management and major donor fundraising.

· A successful track record of developing and nurturing strategic partnerships and meeting budget and targets.

· Ability to manage and resolve conflict.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead and manage the Finance and Corporate Services functions, ensuring strong financial governance, compliance, and strategic planning. You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders including the Board, Executive Team, regulators, auditors, and funders.

You will also act as the organisational lead for financial strategy, treasury management, HR, IT infrastructure, and internal and external communications-ensuring that EastEnd Homes is well-resourced and delivering outstanding services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing leadership across Finance, IT, HR, and Communications, implementing procedures, policies and strategies
• Manage, support, and develop staff across the Finance and Corporate Services teams, including performance reviews, training needs, and continuous improvement

About You:

• Experience of working effectively with a Board or committee, writing and presenting reports, strategies etc.
• Strong understanding of financial governance, legislation, and risk management as well as developing short, medium and long term financial plans which ensure their financial viability over the longer term
• A collaborative, values-driven leadership style who fosters an inclusive environment at the fore front of what they do
• Excellent communication and influencing skills to be able to communicate financial concepts and organisational performance insights to internal and external stakeholders

The role is a job share and based at our beautiful Grade 2 listed building in Southwark. It is based on 16 hours per week working Thursdays and Fridays, with the potential to extend beyond the initial period of maternity cover.  Remote working is not appropriate for this role.

Our Centre houses an amazing collection of 25,000 children’s books as well as being a training and event centre for teachers, publishers and everyone else who works with children’s literature and cares about children’s literacy.

In one week you could be doing any number of things from ensuring our teachers can access the right equipment for their training, to planning a book launch with our librarian, welcoming our trustees to a meeting, scoping and overseeing maintenance works around our building, or looking after a famous children’s author.

Reporting to our Chief Executive Officer (CEO), our Centre Manager will: 

• Ensure efficient processes and quality facilities are in place to support the daily operations of our staff, our visitors and other organisations that share our building 

• Maintain the building to ensure that the Centre can function as a public space that looks great, and is secure and safe 

• Be a welcoming and generous host for visitors to our Charity and for event hires at the Centre 

• Support the CEO in maintaining HR systems and processes that adhere to best practice 

• Ensure our staff have the tools available to do their best work by overseeing the outsourced IT support company and maintaining our IT systems and assets.

The person we are looking for will have:

The Role

The key purpose of this role is to work as a “right hand” to the Associate Vicar, as an Executive Assistant and lead of key projects. Listed below are the key elements that the role holder will be doing:

Email, Diary Management & General Administration

• Drafting high volume of emails, correspondence, enquiries, managing the email inbox and ensuring that replies and responses are timely and appropriate
• Oversee diary of AV and manage key dates and appointments in church cycle, book and set-up appointments, coordinate meetings, set-up Zoom links, include briefing notes for AV and coordinate all relevant information for meetings
• Handle administrative duties on behalf of the AV including supporting with rotas for clergy, key comms (internal and external), congregational comms, review information as first point of contact and assist AV with supporting duties
• Assist the AV with processing of expenses and approve expenses with AV’s authorisation and oversee the reconciliation of the AV’s credit card on a monthly basis
• Research and support as needed related to preaching assignments and other projects related to other ministry areas
• Assist AV with key comms with donors, key stakeholders including PCC, church wardens and HTB Group Entity Heads

Budget, Strategy & Governance

• Assist AV with budget and strategy and annual salary review process for all HTB staff and also help with HR and recruitment issues where necessary
• Assist AV with strategy documents for HTB and the annual strategy process to ensure all HTB ministry departments aligned with overall goals and objectives for HTB set by the vicar
• Ensure accountability and clear communications with HTB Department Heads for all ministry areas and drafting of internal comms for internal HTB staff team

PCC & wider Church of England

• Assist with drafting PCC reports and documents for HTB where needed working closely with the Group COO’s office
• Support AV with communications with Chelsea Area Deanery, Kensington Area Council and all wider Church of England matters and requests (Diocese of London, Archdeacons, Legal Agreements, etc)
• Help HTB to ensure it is compliant with all C of E requirements and maintains good working relationships with the Diocese of London
• Support AV to ensure that all safeguarding matters/requirements fulfilled and clear communication with Safeguarding Officer
• Assist AV with managing matters relating to HTB’s accessibility matters (i.e. disability and special needs), sustainability policy and approaches, recruitment and staff policies, etc.

Project Management

• Support AV with any special projects or assignments as needed – i.e. School of Preaching Course, special Alpha projects, Electoral Roll, crisis management, projects for the PCC, key events, donor comms, fundraising and stewardship, racial diversity working group matters, research assignments, etc.

The Right Candidate

• This role requires strong skills in administration, attention to detail, writing and drafting and excellent organisational skills.
• Experience supporting a senior leader or C-Level executive in a supporting capacity in a fast-paced and fast-moving organisation.
• A strong Christian faith and an active member of HTB, worshipping regularly at one of HTB's services or church plants.

What we want from you

We’re looking for a Senior People Partner who will bring solid experience in HR and recruitment—whether through a CIPD or REC Level 4/5 qualification or equivalent hands-on experience. You’re passionate about people, motivated to make a difference, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

You’ll have in-depth knowledge of current employment legislation and best practice and experienced in building effective relationships with senior leaders, managers and employees, you’ll be skilled at managing complex employee relations cases. Overview of the International Chief Projects Officer

Brentford FC Community Sports Trust

With community work spanning three decades, Brentford FC Community Sports Trust has established itself as a pioneering organisation for the local community. It uses the power of sport to educate, motivate and inspire people from all walks of life.

Working in partnership with Brentford FC, the Trust offers a portfolio of programmes in education, health, sports participation and community engagement. The Trust has won the ‘Football League Community Club of the Year’ award four times and now employs more than 150 members of staff. 

The Role 

The Clubhouse Social Café Manager will lead on the implementation of the of café (Due to open in October 2024) and will manage the Food and Beverage Operations in line with food, and health and safety regulations. You will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility. 

You  will be responsible for managing the day to day running of the café, providing a diverse of community and health wellbeing projects in collaboration with Trust Senior Manager - Health and Wellbeing. They will also manage and mentor staff and trainees to deliver an effective and inclusive service to customers.

About You 

We are looking for a passionate, inspiring catering/hospitality specialist to lead on training, mentoring and the hospitality operation of our new Clubhouse Café at Gunnersbury Park. The café is part of the new Community Sports hub at the site and will also double as a social and community space linking into community projects for all ages. Projects will include mental and physical health with the space acting as a central meeting/training hub. In this capacity you will work closely with the Trust's Health and Wellbeing Senior Manager. 

We are partnering with the homeless charity Change Please to create a West London training hub. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and training the café team. Our founder partners in the project are The University of West London (UWL) and the Premier League and Professional Footballers Association Fund. We are linking with the University to offer a range of immersive opportunities for their catering and business students and our Café Manager will link with them on a number of working projects.

The other aspect is the promotion and training in the importance of food, health and performance and the Manager will work with our Trust team to create innovative content and inspiring outreach programmes. Whilst we expect the Manager to have an active interest in food and nutrition, we plan to put some catering support and training in place to support the position.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual who has appropriate experience to lead the food and beverage side of the operation. They will be involved in the initial set-up of the facility (Due to open in Summer 2025) and the establishment of appropriate operation and health and safety procedures.

We have developed a sustainable business plan, however you will have the opportunity of contributing to the ongoing development plan. We have the benefit of understanding who our customers are, when they are, and even when they will arrive! This will need to be balanced with the social and community programme, and whilst it will be a challenge, it will also make for an enriched role in dealing with a range of people and organisations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on the implementation of the café, including the setup, adherence to food and health safety and regulations, and staffing.
• Development and procurement of suppliers for café to ensure efficient service delivery.
• Contribute to and delivery of project-based business plans as directed by the CEO and Head of Social, Education and Health Hub.
• To  organise and manage the preparation and presentation of food whilst ensuring agreed standards are maintained at all times, and that any special dietary needs are catered for.
• Adherence to HACCP and all other food safety regulations and COSHH regulations., ensuring the statutory requirements are met and all necessary records are maintained.
• Deal with customer feedback in a courteous, efficient and timely manner, monitoring and evaluating this feedback, making appropriate recommendations and taking action for service improvements.
• Working safely with kitchen equipment and ensuring that all other health and safety procedures are followed.
• To maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment in accordance with guidelines.
• To mentor staff, trainees and work experience students in the effective operation of the facility.
• Deliver appropriate training to Clubhouse Café Staff, to foster a culture of excellent customer service.
• Stay informed about safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practices.

Essential Criteria

• Level 1,2 and 3 Food Safety Awards
• Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace Award
• Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
• Experience of kitchen equipment
• Experience as a manager of operations and staff in a food and beverage business.
• Experience as a manager responsible for compliance, particularly health & safety and licensing, as well as finances in a food and beverage business.
• Experience in project management and meeting deadlines.
• Experience of supervising and training small groups of staff
• A working knowledge of budgets and gross profit margins
