• This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work from the office (Church House, London or The Old Brewhouse - Bishopthorpe, York) 1 day per week on Mondays.

• A salary of £48,577 per annum, plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis (APF) is the UK’s leading charity dedicated to improving the health and well-being of people affected by pulmonary fibrosis. We’re here to ensure that people affected by pulmonary fibrosis (or lung scarring), their loved ones and the professionals caring for them have the support, resources and voice they need.

‍Purpose

APF has grown significantly over the past five years, with our support services reaching over 10,000 people affected by pulmonary fibrosis (PF) each year. We have ambitious plans for further growth across our services and to fund more ground breaking research. As we enter a new five-year strategic period, we aim to grow our income to £3-5 million, which will underpin our exciting plans to support more people affected by pulmonary fibrosis and prevent lives being lost to this devastating disease.

The Charity Governance and Operations Manager will ensure robust operational, safeguarding, and governance frameworks are in place to support Action for Pulmonary Fibrosis’ continued growth. This role is critical for maintaining our compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, overseeing risk management, and embedding efficient operational structures. In addition, you will help foster a culture of high-quality supporter care and lead on continuous improvement to strengthen internal processes and staff development.

Terms of Appointment

Working hours: Full time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (minimum 30 hours per week).

Reports to: Director of Finance and Operations (primary reporting line) Chief Executive Officer (dotted line reporting for governance and Board assurance).

Location: Hybrid (1–2 days per week in the Peterborough office, 3–4 days remote working.

Salary: £40k - £45k FTE (salary will be pro rata for part-time hours) dependent on experience.

About the role

Key responsibilities

Your primary task will be to take on responsibility for managing specific projects such as those outlined below, and to lead on other projects as identified by the Chief Operations Officer (COO). You will be working alongside the COO to provide operational, developmental, and strategic support for the charity, ensuring its continuation, sustainability, and success. You will provide strong communication and organisational skills and ensure systems are in place to facilitate effective co-ordination and functioning of all sections of the charity. You would be expected to work autonomously and be able to meet deadlines. You will actively seek and develop new opportunities for our charity and be able to deputise for the Chief Operations Officer when appropriate, e.g., during annual leave. This includes ensuring all reporting aspects are complete, including liaising with other team members.  

AREAS OF WORK, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

• Responsible for ensuring robust project management documentation is in place, producing milestone plans and monthly updates, and highlighting any risks.  
• Taking full responsibility for the coordination and delivery of designated projects from start to finish.
• Organising cultivation events, including venue sourcing, booking, and attendee management.
• Organising international trips for clinicians, including: booking flights and accommodation; organising travel insurance; managing visa applications and other necessary paperwork; managing all communications with clinicians.
• Bringing teams to the UK for training visits, including: liaising with hospitals and relevant departments; organising flights and accommodation; managing visa applications and other necessary paperwork, managing all communications with clinicians.
• Coordinating and producing/accessing training videos and resources, and liaising with the specialist website provider for upload and management.

Charity Development

• Working to manage charity activities, including, but not limited to:
  • Positioning CLEFT as a respected charity and ensuring it works to influence and encourage good practice within the sector.  
  • Liaising effectively and working with the Board of Trustees, committee members, and section leads, as well as other relevant stakeholders.  
  • Seeking opportunities to promote and develop the charity within the sector.  
  • Supporting the charity in development opportunities with sector specialists, outside organisations, and other key stakeholders to develop relationships on behalf of the charity.  
  • Maintaining a direct link to the Board of Trustees, committee members, and section leads through meeting attendance and ongoing comms via email/WhatsApp, contributing effectively where needed.  

Other areas of responsibility

The Deputy Operations Officer should be prepared to perform other duties that may be necessary from time to time, falling within the remit of responsibility of this post and appropriate under the charitable objects and development plan. These may include but are not limited to:

• Shared running of the virtual office.
• Regularly liaising with Trustees and keeping them updated.  
• Updating and adhering to CLEFT’s policies and procedures, including the development of new policy when directed or identified.  

As a small charity, all team members need to be flexible with their approach and be willing to undertake basic duties as and when required.

 

Our client, a wonderful health and social care trust is looking for a Communications and Operations Assistant on a full-time basis (35 hours per week), running for 5-months in the first instance. We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Head of Finance who is dedicated to advancing our financial management capabilities and ensuring the sustainability of our operations.  Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations the Head of Finance will play a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the FSRH.  You will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting and reporting ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and providing strategic financial guidance to other members of staff across the organisation.  You will also have an interest in leading and developing staff by fostering a positive and productive work environment.

The role, you will:

• Partner with our senior leadership team and department heads to develop financial plans, budgets, and forecasts that align with organisational strategy
• Analyse financial performance, identify trends, and communicate insights to non-financial stakeholders
• Support business planning by modelling financial scenarios and evaluating investment opportunities
• Lead monthly departmental financial reviews, highlighting performance against KPIs and recommending corrective actions
• Develop costing models to enhance understanding of product/service profitability
• Optimise working capital management and work with the FSRH Investment Advisers to maximise financial returns
• Identify process improvements to increase operational efficiency
• Lead on the preparation of the annual accounts and liaison with the auditors
• Support the Finance, Risk and Investment Committee
• Manage and develop the Finance and Membership Officer providing guidance, support and opportunities for professional growth
• Make returns to all statutory bodies

You will have:

• Proven experience working in a finance business partner role; working with senior management to develop financial strategies to support organisational goals
• Strong commercial acumen and business understanding
• Knowledge of management accounting systems and financial software
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles
• The experience to lead and manage a small team, with a strong focus on staff development
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with management accounting and financial systems
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• The ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-financial audiences
• Experience of day-to-day financial management

You will be:

• Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent)

What's the role about?

As part of the Scotland Leadership Team, the North Scotland Operations Director leads the RSPB’s place-based delivery, primarily across our nature reserves and within the RSPB’s Priority Landscapes where we are working to influence and support others to restore nature and inspire communities within some of Scotland’s most iconic landscapes.

This is a role for an exceptional director, with a team of approximately 150 staff and 500 volunteers, significant budget (£5M+), land based commercial operations, major project and risk accountability, and responsibility for restoring some of Scotland’s most threatened species & habitats.

The role covers four large Operational Areas which comprise the RSPB’s North Scotland Region, including the organisation's two largest nature reserves. The Operations Director line manages 4 Area Managers in the following operational areas:

1. Shetland & Northeast Scotland;
2. Orkney;
3. North Highland and Outer Hebrides, and
4. South Highland.

Other line reports are the Senior Programme Manager for the Scotland Peatland Programme, and the Inverness Office Manager.

Alongside the Operational Director role, the post holder also has overall responsibility for some of the RSPB’s largest and most high-profile projects and programmes, including the Orkney Native Wildlife project, the Scotland Peatland Programme, and Cairngorms Connect.

We’re looking for a talented director with experience of managing a diverse and dispersed operational portfolio. You’ll be someone who can build strong collaborations (both internally & externally), and you’ll be comfortable representing the RSPB to a range of audiences, from community groups to public agency executives and leaders alongside politicians and Government Ministers.

You should be confident to make decisions and be able to balance risk and opportunity. An understanding of - and an ability to operate within - governance, finance and risk frameworks is also a key part of the role. A background in nature conservation isn’t necessary, but you’ll be passionate about our mission and joining the movement to end the nature & climate emergency.

• Educated to degree level or relevant high-level experience to effectively communicate complex messages and use management information to undertake responsibilities.

Our Head of Events and Deputy Head of Events lead and drive the overall team strategy and set the ambition, and we are looking for a senior operations team lead to provide day to day management and guidance to the wedding, facilities, outdoor corporate venues, and community teams.

This is a predominantly office-based role, providing senior administrative, operational and people management, so the team can run efficiently and effectively. This includes team, crisis, and budget management. The role will also involve significant stakeholder management and report writing.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

Team Management  

• Overall day to day management of the venues team, covering the outdoor corporate team, weddings and functions team, communities' team and facilities team 
• Onboarding of new team members 
• Providing advice and insight to the Deputy Head of Events on the team's strengths and development opportunities.
• Strategising and implementing growth and development across the whole of the Events venues portfolio with the Deputy Head of Events 

Finance and Admin  

• Report writing for key stakeholders 
• Attending stakeholder meeting representing Enable
• Supporting the Deputy Head of Events, reconciling and managing relevant budgets and reports to achieve targeted income
• Managing and finalising the monthly financial reconciliation for the Venues team.
• Handling customer complaints and resolving within the agreed timeframes

• Creating POs and invoices and liaising directly with the Finance Team as required

Venue Management and Booking  

• Advising and supporting the team with all venue related enquiries
• Ensuring maximum utilisation of spaces in line with Enable’s Strategy and the Events’ Service Plan 
• Managing and applying for venue licences, PPL and PRS 
• Attending quarterly auditing meetings with the Council 
• Researching competitor venues

Skills and Experience:
