The 999 Club is a small charity doing big things with local people facing homelessness. For over 30 years we’ve been in the heart of Deptford providing warm welcomes and wraparound services ensuring those who need us are given the best chance of leaving homelessness behind for good.  

Our Gateway Drop-In Centre offers nutritious meals, laundry and medical facilities, showers, IT access, phone charging , a safe space to rest and a dedicated Women’s Sanctury.  

When members feel ready, our team of expert staff are on hand to support them into suitable accommodation where possible, secure income via paid work or benefits, and provide immigration signposting for those who need it. Once housed, our Move+ programme continues to work with them to ensure they settle into new accommodation with the knowledge, skills, community and hope required to thrive in their new life.  

We also run The Bridge, a free six-week evening mental health course open to anyone in the community experiencing mental distress. The programme provides a practical toolkit to support long-term mental wellbeing.  

JOB OVERVIEW AND OBJECTIVES 

This newly created role will play a vital role in advancing 999 Club’s ambitious plans to enhance its status, reputation, and support among both existing and wider audiences. At this pivotal moment in the charity’s history, the postholder will work closely with the Head of Fundraising and Communications and the Members’ Committee to co-develop and implement a bold new communications and marketing strategy. 

Building on last year’s extensive rebrand, this role will ensure that the voices of those with lived experience remain central to the organisation’s messaging and identity. A key focus will be strengthening internal and external communication, uniting our diverse membership—which includes staff, clients, volunteers, trustees, and supporters—while also reaching new audiences through social media, direct marketing, PR, and media outreach. 

A major priority will be the relaunch and expansion of the 999 Club’s Membership Scheme and Patrons Programme, designed to deepen awareness and support for 999 Club across Southeast London and beyond. Underpinning these efforts, the postholder will manage the Donorfy CRM database and ensure the ongoing maintenance and development of our WordPress website. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES  

• Manage 999 Club’s social media across all major platforms, creating engaging content that amplifies member voices and resonates with wider audiences. 

• Identify and sensitively share compelling stories that inspire support, avoid clichés and reinforce 999 Club’s themes of positivity, progress, and hope. 

• Produce dynamic newsletter content that strengthens reader engagement and drives action. 

• Work with the Head of Fundraising and Communications to eensure that all design and communications align with 999 Club’s brand style, visual identity, and tone of voice. 

• Handle press enquiries and proactively promote 999 Club’s work across media channels. 

• Establish a Patrons Programme that reflects 999 Club’s our unique and diverse character and supports strategic growth. 

• Launch and develop the Membership Scheme, securing partnerships with local businesses in Lewisham and Greenwich to boost visibility and support. 

• Maintain and manage the Donorfy database, ensuring accurate donor records, reporting, and updates. 

• Produce regular reports, data and analytics on social media and website activity to inform strategy.

• Identify opportunities for promotion and outreach, and represent 999 Club at events, festivals, and meetings. 

• Maintain and update the WordPress website, applying best practices in SEO and accessibility. 

• Support colleagues with research, case studies, consultations, and other initiatives.

• Stay at the forefront of digital trends by networking, researching, and attending CPD and training.

PERSON SPECIFICATION 

Qualifications 
Desirable: 

• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development e.g. courses, training, other or qualifications. 

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent), preferably in design, marketing or a related field and/or a profession. 

Experience and knowledge

As part of a small team and reporting to the Catalogue and Community Lead, you will support them in creating clear and comprehensive product reviews. You will also moderate contributions from our community of users and help create and maintain effective relationships inside and outside the charity. This means working with people inside Parkinson’s UK and from our community, as well as with the companies who make and sell the tech in our catalogue.

• Help the Catalogue and Community Lead to manage the catalogue of devices and apps, including compiling and editing listing pages.
• Help the Catalogue and Community Lead to write and edit comprehensive product reviews.
• Help manage relationships with end users of the Tech Guide – people with Parkinson’s, their family and carers, and healthcare professionals – ensuring all stakeholders have the best possible experience.

Our Skilled Volunteering programme has been a core service of Link UP since its founding in 2016 and is at the heart and soul of our work. We work in all 32 boroughs and the city of London to help organisations to better address poverty, inequality, and marginalisation.  We have ambitious plans to continue to deepen our connections across boroughs, reach even more organisations and volunteers, to build stronger communities by harnessing professional skills for social good.

The new Head of Skilled Volunteering will be instrumental in helping us grow our successful existing Skilled Volunteering programme and take it to the next level reaching more SGOs and skilled volunteers building new partnerships, and deepening relationships and support provided across London.

Role Details

Title: Head of Skilled Volunteering

Time Commitment: Full time role (4 days a week may also be considered)

Format: Hybrid - remote and in-person (at least 2 days in the London office (Battersea) in-person per week and ability to travel to different parts of London regularly for meetings and events)

Purpose:  To lead and develop Link UP London’s Skilled Volunteering programme to ensure it achieves its ambitious strategic objectives as a core programme of Link UP London

Role Duties & Responsibilities

Programme Management

• Oversee the day-to-day work of the Skilled Volunteering team including implementation plan, workflow and target realisation 
• Oversee and build new and reliable promotional avenues to access individuals with relevant skills and charitable organisations looking for support
• Monitor and report on progress against annual targets and strategic priorities
• Review and improve the Skilled Volunteering process

Relationship Development and Management

• Work with the Comms team to ensure promotion is effective and targeted 
• Innovate ways to get the word out to both volunteers and organisations

• Coordinate, as needed, with the Events Manager to carry out Skilled Volunteering related events

Person Specification

Essential Skills

• 5+ years’ experience with programme management and delivery aimed at creating positive results
• Experience managing people and small teams
• Comprehensive experience with monitoring & evaluation and impact measurements and an interest in developing these further
• A love of working with people, building relationships and experience with relationship management

This is a terrific opportunity to take on a varied and flexible administration role in an organisation at a pivotal point of development that is growing to its next stage of maturity and have a material impact in the community. This role is responsible for maintaining and developing administrative systems, both manual and digital, while supporting all core functions, including executive board, grant-making, fund development, and finance. Acting as the central support for the team, the role ensures internal processes run effectively by managing key administrative tasks and coordinating internal and external meetings. Through excellent organisation and attention to detail, the Office Administrator plays a vital role in keeping the foundation connected and running seamlessly.

Responsibilities

Provide administrative support to all staff of the foundation.

Manage the administration of information systems, including filing and database management.

Type and word-process documents and letters as required.

Undertake routine collation of information relating to the foundation’s services.

Office Coordination & Communication 

Serve as the first point of contact for incoming phone calls and emails, greeting and assisting visitors, and overseeing the handling of incoming and outgoing post and deliveries.

Contacting individuals and groups by telephone when clarification or further information is required.

Provide customer service support when necessary.

Administer and keep up to date the contacts database and formal records or organisations the foundation works with.

Enter details of applications and donors into CRM systems.

Maintain and develop communication with affiliated and other voluntary groups, including supporting networking events.

Operations & Supplies Management

General office administration, including the maintenance of equipment inventories, training records, PAT testing schedules, and room bookings.

Manage the ordering and stocking of stationery, equipment and other office supplies.

Marcomms Support

Assist in the preparation, production, and distribution of regular newsletters, including maintaining the mailing list database.

Assist in posting content on social media platforms.

Executive Board Assistance

Work with the CEO to prepare and manage quarterly Board meetings for Foundation, and as required, other partners (including JCT)

Prepare for meetings, including compiling and distributing board papers, managing meeting dates and availability, and ensuring logistical arrangements.

Take accurate minutes and provide general administrative support for Board level members, always ensuring strict confidentiality.

Regularly update and maintain Board requirements, including EDI data, references, annual Conflict of Interest declarations, DBS checks, and other governance related documentation including Foundation Training log and Policy changes.

Provide administrative support to the Chair of Trustees as required, ensuring they have the necessary documentation, scheduling support, and other assistance to fulfil their role effectively.

Events and PR

Assist with organising events to showcase the Foundation’s work, including functions for donors, potential donors, community and voluntary groups.

Representing BLCF

Work as an effective Ambassador for the Foundation always, including at events and external networking.

Engage with the UK Community Foundation peer network to ensure the best practice is shared from across the sector

Experience

Demonstrable experience of using online file managements systems (e.g. SharePoint) to manage data and information relating to an organisations core systems, policies and processes. 

Experience in working at Board or senior levels with supporting administration and issues in a confidential manner.

Experience of working under pressure while effectively collaborating across teams to achieve objectives.

Experience in administrative work, including managing tasks efficiently and supporting operational processes.

Some understanding of the wider voluntary and charity sector. (D)  

Skills & Abilities

Excellent computer and administration skills, with experience using Word, Canva (or comparable design tools), Excel, PowerPoint, and databases such as Salesforce.

Demonstrably highly organised, capable of juggling projects and tasks, delivering structured plans, and adapting quickly to changing circumstances.

A self-starter, able to act on own initiative, organise, plan, and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.

About the role

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.

We are lucky enough to have some of our most committed supporters in the area, but there is still so much opportunity to grow support across the counties. You will have an incredible opportunity to build relationships with not only those who have been supported by the charity, but our incredible services team members who support children and young people treated out of University College Hospital and Great Ormond Street hospital.

This role involves one to one support for Carers of people with dementia, providing information, guidance, and advocacy, developing and delivering dementia training for Carers and facilitating support groups. This role also includes coordinating and delivering monthly Dementia Cafes for people with dementia and their Carers, including supervising cafe volunteers.

Your skills and Experience:

The successful applicant will have outstanding organisational and communication skills, be confident delivering training and outreach. They will be able to manage conflicting demands with tight deadlines, be a key team player and committed to working with Carers and volunteers.

They will have excellent IT skills and be able to adapt to providing services both face to face and via virtual platforms, whilst maintaining a consistent service for Carers.

About the oppurtunity

The London Programme Coordinator will be responsible for managing a caseload of up to seven partner schools, attending and coordinating weekly tutoring sessions, developing relationships with pupils, school staff and volunteer tutors and collecting data for monitoring and evaluation purposes. This role plays a crucial part in overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring sessions to ensure effective and impactful programme delivery.

Duties and responsibilities 

• Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage and effectively communicate with all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; leading weekly face to face and online tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.

• Responsible for overseeing the quality of both face to face and online tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery.

• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers.

• Update and maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and end of programme surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators.

Qualifications and experience criteria:

• Experience working with volunteers and/or young people

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Evidence of ability to prioritise and manage administrative tasks

Reports to: London Programme Manager

Salary: £28,639 per annum (£26,368 per annum, plus London weighting of £2,271)

Contract and hours:  Permanent, full time contract (37.5 hours)
We offer flexible hours 9.30-4pm as core hours.
