What we do

Our Strategy aims to enhance the effectiveness of nutrition policy and programming by improving knowledge, stimulating learning, building evidence and providing support and encouragement to practitioners and decision-makers involved in nutrition and related interventions. ENN’s portfolio includes projects specialising in Infant Feeding in Emergencies, Wasting and Stunting, Adolescent Nutrition, Maternal Nutrition and Management of small & nutritionally At-risk Infants under six months & their Mothers (MAMI), and emerging areas of food systems transformation for nutrition, as well as our highly regarded international publication, Field Exchange (FEX) and our peer-to-peer technical forum en-net.

Purpose of the role

The Senior Technical Associate role is a key member of the Senior Technical Team at ENN. The post holder will bring extensive skills, expertise and capacity to deliver on a portfolio of our projects, provide strategic and technical direction and leadership, and manage their teams.

Terms and Conditions

· Hours of work: This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) for a 12 month fixed term contract (maternity cover). We will consider appointing two part-time positions to secure the right technical fit and skillsets.

· Type of contract: 12-month Fixed Term Contract

· Location: Office or home-based

· Holidays: 25 days plus UK bank holidays increasing by one day p.a. after two complete years of service to a maximum of 27 days p.a. (pro rata) plus office closure days between Christmas and New Year

Key Responsibilities

 

1. Technical

The Senior Technical Associate will manage a portfolio of projects, lead on, and support, project delivery and develop content of technical outputs. This will involve being accountable for quality and timely delivery. The priority areas for this position are:

· Portfolio lead for ENN’s Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IFE) and Management of small and at-risk infants under 6 months and their mothers (MAMI) projects

· Project lead for Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IFE) Project.

· Technical lead for pieces of work/activities within the IFE/MAMI portfolio.

· Senior editorial role in Field Exchange

· Institutional engagement; particularly donors and foundations

Distinguishing role characteristics include:

· Portfolio lead: – Provide oversight of the balance, delivery and directions within the portfolio, managing the portfolio team, and with responsibility for ensuring plans are resourced.

· Project lead: Ensure delivery and assure quality technical outputs

· Technical lead:  Deliver on specific pieces of work/activities within the portfolio

Examples of the types of project responsibilities the postholder will assume, depending on the specific role requirements and their relevant experience, include:

· Providing technical leadership to design, manage, deliver and ensure quality control on project areas

2. Strategic Development

The Senior Technical Associate will contribute to the overall strategic development of ENN and our strategic partners, including:

· Contributing to the realisation of ENN’s Strategy, potentially including representation on ENN’s Senior Leadership Team.

· Being aware of key developments in the nutrition (and related) sectors, identifying new activities, partners and opportunities that align with ENN’s strategy.

· Representing ENN and contributing to global groups/initiatives/efforts

· Assisting the Senior Technical Team in providing strategic engagement support for identified donors

· Development of concept notes & project proposals

3. Team and Management Responsibilities

The Senior Technical Associate will have team management responsibilities including:

· Master’s degree in nutrition/Community Nutrition, Public Health or relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience

· Strong technical acumen and knowledge of the policy, research and practice landscape (stakeholders, policies, gaps, current key topics and challenges) in International Nutrition and Health.

· Significant technical experience in the priority areas outlined above

Report to: Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering

Responsible for: Leading the food distribution service and quality assurance at Hackney Foodbank’s allocated Food Distribution Centres located across the borough of Hackney. This includes ensuring all our visitors have a positive experience when collecting their food parcels and are signposted to other provisions appropriately; being responsible for directing the volunteers, working closely with the Head of Food Distribution and Volunteering, Health and Safety, and promoting best practice at each centre. This role will also involve administrative tasks, organising and carrying out home deliveries for visitors, inputting data on visitors’ journeys accurately into a database, driving the Hackney Giving Van occasionally and regularly driving a Luton van to the various Distribution Centres.

Part-time: 25 hours per week, evening and/or weekend work is required

About MediCinema

MediCinema is a unique national, UK registered charity that improves the wellbeing and enriches the quality of life of NHS patients, their families and carers through the power of the shared cinema experience and the magic of film. We achieve this by building and running cinemas in hospitals and places of care equipped with space for beds, wheelchairs and medical equipment, and providing free films and activities for patients of all ages. Our services help to improve emotional, mental and physical health, reducing isolation, anxiety and stress, and increasing patient resilience to help them cope with what they’re going through.

Our purpose-built in-hospital cinemas are designed to accommodate patients in hospital beds and wheelchairs, on drips or with monitors. MediCinema provides a warm, welcoming and safe place that enables patients to escape the ward and have much needed breathing space - to have quality time together with loved ones, connect with the wider world, and forget their pain. From all our impact evaluation and with over 24 years’ experience, we know this equips people with the tools to navigate the stress and difficulties that come with illness, to create positive memories, positive healthcare experiences, and to help build resilience.

The Role

We are looking for a Deputy Cinema Manager to join the existing team at the Chelsea&Westminster Hospital in London, working closely with CW+, the official charity of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The roleholder will also be required to provide cover to our other London-based MediCinemas at Guys and St Thomas’s Hospitals.

The post-holder will work with the Cinema Manager and the team of nurses and volunteers who support our MediCinema, and will work closely with them, the hospital, and with central office operations team to prepare for and run successful film screenings each week.

We run 4 regular inpatient screenings each week which includes evenings and weekends. The roleholder will be required to work on a shift pattern to include weekends and evenings each week. There will also be a programme of additional Tailored and Personal screenings on top of these regular inpatient screenings. 

The role offers a unique, exciting and extremely rewarding opportunity for someone interested in a service delivery role at the heart of our charity, involving direct contact with the patients and families we support.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Service Delivery

• Support the Cinema Manager in delivering a programme of screenings each week as agreed according to the operating procedures of a MediCinema, including running and managing screenings on your own. Most screenings are held in the evenings and at weekends so the role requires regular evening and Saturday working.

• On screening days be responsible for:

o Marketing the service through the hospital’s wards, organising collecting and returning patients, and for safety and care in the cinema itself.

o Taking responsibility for health and safety of patients coming to the cinema, and the safety and appearance of the cinema space itself.

o Preparing and operating the digital projection equipment for the screening, ensuring that films are screened to the highest technical standards at all times. Training and ongoing technical support will be provided for this.

o Ensuring that all operational, welfare and safeguarding policies set out by MediCinema are followed accordingly and that, where appropriate, consent forms are obtained for photographic or filmed records.

o Ensuring that all aspects of the operation comply with relevant health and safety legislation, and that areas where MediCinema might be in breach of such are dealt with immediately or brought to the attention of the appropriate authorities for rectification.

o Keeping accurate monitoring and operational records, including contacts and database updating as required

• Help the Cinema Manager collate, analyse and report back on agreed metrics and KPI’s

• Assist with arranging and running any special events and special screenings

• When required, arrange and run additional personal screenings for patients unable to attend regular screenings, plus special tailored screenings with particular hospital departments and patient groups.

• Support the development and roll out of any new type of screenings we embark on.

• Support the delivery of our complementary bedside services, such as our Disney ‘Moments that Matter’ work.

Nurse & Volunteer Management

• Help the Cinema Manager build, manage and support the team of nurses and volunteers to assist in the duties outlined above and to ensure that screenings run safely and smoothly – this will include assisting with recruitment and creating monthly rotas.

Marketing and Relationship Management

• Be proactive in marketing the service within the hospital, building key relationships with hospital staff and members of CW+.

• Help develop and manage effective partnerships throughout the hospital and community

• Representing the organisation effectively and compellingly at all times.

• Support the programming and development of the MediCinema as a centre for entertainment, being pro-active in developing a creative programme of sustainable events at each site. This could include fundraising events, live performance and other relevant activities.

We are looking for a Graphic Designer (maternity cover).

We’re looking for a mid-weight Graphic Designer to work in-house to create artwork for marketing and communications campaigns across a wide range of media, including print, digital, animation, and video. Working under the direction of the Senior Graphic Designer and within the Communications and Engagement team, the Graphic Designer will work across a range of different projects supporting the priorities of the charity.

This is a 6 months’ full time maternity cover role. This role is also a hybrid working role, where 40% of the role will be on campus based.

Growing Hope Senior Finance Officer
Location: Hybrid working (2-3 days office based in King’s Cross Mon, Thurs and possibly Fri)

Growing Hope is a charity providing free therapy for children and young people with additional needs in partnership with local churches across the UK. We aim to grow hope for children, hope for families and hope in Jesus. Growing Hope was founded in December 2017 and has a vision to see 20 clinics set up across the UK by 2030. We have three clinics, King’s Cross, Brockley and High Wycombe, and we are currently setting up our fourth and fifth clinics in Maidstone and Redbridge. We worked with over 500 children, young people, parents, carers and siblings in 2023. As a national charity Growing Hope has trained over 1,000 professionals & parents. We are continuing to expand, with the set-up of further local clinics on the horizon.

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic finance professional with great attention to detail, strong analytical skills and an ability to work in a fast pace environment. The role will report to the Director of Operations and will involve running book keeping, reporting and banking functions as well as overseeing payroll. This role supports the national Growing Hope charity and each of the local charities’ (clinics) accounting for around £1 million collectively each year. You will be joining a small and dedicated national team of eleven.

Job Purpose
Growing Hope requires an experienced finance professional (with part qualifications) who will be responsible for the delivery of internal financial management systems and controls, and for maintaining accurate financial management records, including managing the process of producing annual accounts. This role covers both the national charity and the local Growing Hope charities which are growing across the UK. The national charity raises around £600,000 per year and the local charities around £50,000-£100,000. The Senior Finance Officer will support the charities with day to day book keeping, raising invoices, paying expenses, scheduling payroll payments and running management reports and accounts. This job role also involves advising on budgets for fundraising project proposals and working closely with the supporter engagement team. This individual will be able to communicate effectively with all the relevant parties including the national Growing Hope team, the local Clinic Managers, and local finance trustees who have overall governance of each charity’s finances.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Book keeping & Finance processes

• Processing of accounts using Quickbooks for each Growing Hope charity in a timely manner (currently 6 small charities)
• Paying expenses and invoices as and when these are approved.
• Liaising with payroll provider and scheduling salary payments for all staff each month.
• Invoicing local Growing Hope charities each month for book keeping, payroll and quickbooks.
• Running gift aid claims and supporting volunteers to run this across the Growing Hope charities.
• Liaising with local clinics and churches to agree payment schedules and giving for each financial year.
• Participate actively in prayer and worship times as part of the team. This includes praying, coaching and supporting Clinic Managers to understand their budgets and financial processes.

Fundraising

• Contributing to the fundraising strategy and development of budgets for fundraising projects.
• Contributing to the wider teams fundraising efforts through networking, and involvement in fundraising and community events.

Reporting

• Updating monthly forecast vs. budget spreadsheets for each local charity and the national charity.
• Leading monthly budget reporting meetings for Senior Leadership Team and Chair of Trustees, using analytical skills to highlight patterns or potential risks or problems arising.
• Create annual reports in partnership with the Clinic Managers and Finance trustee for each local charity and ensure these are independently examined by recruiting and liaising with volunteer accountants.

Payroll

• Liaising with the payroll provider to run payroll for all staff across the Growing Hope charities each month.
• Setting up and running pension payments each month.
• Paying NI payments each month.

General administration

• Set up bank accounts and signatories for local Growing Hope charities, support the local trustees with ensuring all financial processes are set up and working (e.g. bank account, Stripe, Quickbooks, payroll, pensions, HMRC)
• Sending letters and emails as required.
• Maintain data protection and confidentiality in line with Growing Hope’s information governance policy.
• Ensure adherence to Safeguarding and wider Growing Hope policies.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working in the charity sector, an interest in additional needs and inclusion are highly desirable.

About the role

As a Lasting Power of Attorney and Continuing Healthcare Coordinator, you will join a small team to provide high-quality information and support to ensure the delivery and maintenance of two separate services the LPA Digital Assistance Service and NHS CHC Appeals Service. Coordinators manage and deliver access to both services.

You will be providing support to people affected by dementia to access the Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) Digital Assistance Service. Through a series of telephone calls, you will help people affected by dementia and their families to navigate and simplify this complicated process by offering information and support to complete the forms required to create and register a Lasting Power of Attorney. 

As part of the Continuing Healthcare Appeals service, you will be working alongside our NHS CHC volunteering group to provide support to people affected by dementia with their appeal over the telephone and email. As well as a listening ear you will be gathering and recording information from the client and helping them identify the necessary documentation and evidence ready to pass to a volunteer for longer-term support.

This role will require you to build relationships with the dementia support line team, local services, and the dementia support forum. You will network to promote both services to help people get referred to the service as early as possible. As well as developing networks with partner organisations such as the Office of Public Guardian.

Schools’ Project Officer Coordinator (4-5 days per week)

We are a small, lively and expanding charity promoting the personal development of young people in partner schools, through challenging activities that they design, plan and finally undertake adult free. We invite students (usually in groups) to develop their own challenges, something they want to do but which is well outside their ‘comfort zones’ and to be responsible for every stage of them: we provide planning support, risk management, and expenses funding. Our award winners have climbed the highest UK peaks, cycled to Paris, performed plays at school, harnessed green power via a bike, among many other imaginative and ambitious projects.   

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an energetic, talented and reliable candidate to coordinate our schools’ outreach team, inspiring high-quality applications for funding from Year 12s. We are at an exciting stage of growth, now in 20% of London schools, so there is great scope to shape our strategic direction, including cultivating our alumni network of previous award winners.  We are looking for competent leader, ideally with experience of risk and physical challenge, and strong administrative skills, who is comfortable working with schools. He/she will be keen to work with a growing charity, and to support young people usually with a poverty of experience and opportunity.

The post is up to 4-5 days per week, based in Southwark, with frequent travel to schools across London. The salary is £30,000 – £35,000 pa pro rata depending on experience. Flexible working considered.

Job Purpose 

The purpose of this role is to provide operational support to CAVA’s Health and Wellbeing Manager to support the delivery of the community engagement aspect of the REN Workplan which is identified through the REN Working/Steering Group. The Coventry and Warwickshire REN is currently funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) and aims to increase opportunities and inclusivity for people (particularly from underserved communities) to take part in research, to tackle health inequalities, and identify ways for researchers to improve the health and wellbeing of people across Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting Working and Steering Group meetings, attending REN events on behalf of CAVA and taking a proactive role in gathering examples of good practice and sharing outcomes and impact with stakeholders. This role will support engagement with communities throughout Coventry and Warwickshire by supporting delivery of in-person engagement events and support the recruitment of, and support related to, Volunteer Community Research Champions who play a vital and central role within this scope of work.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Support organisation and delivery of in-person engagement events for the REN work
• Support the REN Working and Steering Groups with communications and marketing activities with various stakeholders (including with: VCFSEs; potential and existing volunteer Community Research Champions; updates to funders; and for various communication channels of the ICS) 
• Support gathering of examples of good practice and presenting these case studies in various formats
• Support the team with gathering intelligence, and liaising with VCFSEs about capturing and sharing in an Engagements and Insights Atlas the research opportunities and learnings from across Coventry and Warwickshire
• Champion VCFSEs involvement in using their knowledge and understanding of issues related to addressing inequalities and under-representation, and improving health
• Support the REN with writing monitoring reports
• Circulate relevant material and agendas and take notes from virtual and in-person meetings
• Support the REN with the recruitment, on-going support, training, and organisation of virtual and in-person events for volunteer Community Research Champions 
• Attend relevant meetings (in-person and virtually, as appropriate)

General

• Participate in individual supervision sessions with your line manager.
• Attend and contribute to relevant CAVA meetings.
• Undertake relevant training agreed with the line manager.
• Ensure that under-represented groups have access to CAVA services offered by the post.
• Comply with CAVA’s work programme, policies and procedures.

Exciting Job opportunity: we are looking for a Participation and Development Worker

The National House Project (NHP) takes a ground-breaking approach through its commitment to young people’s ownership to enable young people leaving care to live connected and fulfilling lives. The approach was co-designed with young people from the start. It is based on a groupwork approach and supports young people to move into properties that become their homes whilst also building a strong and supportive friendship network.

NHP supports Local Authorities to establish Local House Projects (LHPs) and puts young people at the centre of the decision-making processes, supports staff to work with them in an inclusive way and encourages staff to work with young people to find the solutions to the challenges they face. LHPs achieve improved outcomes for young people, challenge the way that professionals work with young people and enable young people to leave care in a planned and supported way.

To ensure that young people are involved at every level of the organisation each LHP elects 2 young people to represent them at the Care Leavers National Movement (CLNM). This forum provides the platform to hear, amplify and act on the voice of young people, who not only support the development of their own LHP but also contribute to developing practice and policy at a national level. CLNM meet regularly, undertake Peer Evaluations, host and deliver their own National Conference and provide an ‘expert user’ consultancy.  Members from this group also sit on the Board of Trustees as expert advisors.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and experienced in working with young people in care to join this national charity.  You will work with the Care Leavers National Movement as well as the core NHP team to ensure that young people continue to drive our work at both a local and national level.

You will need to have a professional/academic qualification in a related field e.g., Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Health. Current registration with a professional body is desirable. The NHP office is in Crewe. The Diocese of Guildford has an exciting part-time opportunity for a Community Lead to manage our Hear Here project.

The Hear Here Project is a community-focused initiative which involves collaboration between the Diocese, Parishes, NHS Audiology Departments and Sight for Surrey to assist those who wear an NHS-issued hearing aid with any technical issues at clinics run by trained hearing champions. The clinics helps to break the cycle of isolation often experienced by those with hearing loss.

The project, powered by volunteers, operates in parish churches and other community spaces, forming a key part of the diocese's "Growing Communities" strategy.

The role involves leading, managing, and ensuring the governance of Hear Here across the diocese. The Community Project Lead will work closely with volunteers, maintaining high clinic standards and fostering relationships with key partners to secure the project’s future and enhance its outreach potential.

Key Responsibilities include:

· Providing overall leadership and manage the daily activities of Hear Here.

· Promote the project across the diocese, ensuring it is recognised as a vital part of parish outreach and mission.

· Collect and analyse data from clinics for accurate and timely reporting.

· Respond to telephone and email enquiries, assisting new clients in accessing clinics and keep the online directory current.

· Identify, pursue, and secure ongoing funding to sustain and expand the project.

· Increase the visibility of Hear Here within the Diocese to expand the clinics and enhance their role in community outreach.

· Manage a team of volunteers to ensure clinics run consistently, safely, and according to required standards.
