The Executive Director will work closely with our Board of Directors, Council, staff team, and our member organisations around the world to lead the organisation, support our network, and help deliver our shared strategy for inclusion.
About the Role
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall management of Inclusion International. This includes overseeing our programmes and operations, building strong relationships with our members and partners, and supporting our global advocacy and fundraising work.
We are looking for a strategic leader who can build trust, manage a skilled remote team, and strengthen the impact of our global work.
The successful candidate will have senior-level experience in the non-profit sector, a strong understanding of inclusive practice, and a commitment to the rights of people with intellectual disabilities.

The role is full-time and can be done remotely. We are especially interested in candidates who are based in the UK and familiar with the UK charity sector.
Salary is £95,000 per year, depending on experience.

Purpose of the role:
At NEON, we know that you can’t separate the external work of the organisation from the internal work. They are so interlinked and interdependent that they both have to be given priority and resources if we want to achieve high impact. We see them as inseparable.

Key Responsibilities:

Doing all of our day-to-day fundraising administration to keep us well-organised and compliant. This includes:

Recording and monitoring fundraising data using our Fundraising Tracking Database

Keeping all of our grant agreements, contracts and other relevant documentation well-organised on GDrive and elsewhere

Ensuring compliance with the financial requirements of the grant agreements, and updating and maintaining the grant payments schedule

Raising invoices on Xero in line with funder agreements - noting instalment dates and receipts

Preparing payroll each month, ensuring everything happens on time and coordinating with our payroll agency. (This may only be a temporary responsibility)

Processing and reconciling payments. This includes:

Reconciling bank receipts and chasing late payments

Processing supplier invoices and payments

Monitoring our team’s Pleo card expenses and posting on Slack to our team for authorisation

Managing the subscriptions on Pleo cards (this is likely a temporary responsibility until our People & Ops Manager returns from sabbatical leave)

Preparing some financial reports and accounts. This includes accounts to trial balance, and ad hoc reports from Xero when our team have finance queries or need support

Supporting with finance projects which make our finance systems work more efficiently, simply and sustainably e.g. helping to update our budget spreadsheets and approach to budgeting, or moving to a new bank

Supporting the Head of Finance with budgets, financial planning and reports and any other ad hoc finance tasks

Being part of Ops Hub shared work and cross-organisational work and team days
About you:

You have experience dealing with people in different capacities, both internally and externally, on a day to day basis, and build strong working relationships

You have solid finance experience and skill. For us that means:

a minimum of three years work experience in a finance role, preferably within the charity/non profit sector. This means you have a good understanding of non-profit finance, including VAT and managing restricted and unrestricted funds

a solid understanding of Accounts Payable (with BACs, invoicing, etc) and Receivable (invoicing and credit control) processes

a Level 4 AAT, equivalent qualification or equivalent experience

experience in control accounts reconciliation, and posting journals

As Communications Manager (Digital and Social Media), you will work with the Head of Communications and other key staff across to the organisation to:

- Designing educational and promotional materials including leaflets, reports, patient materials, campaign materials and social media adverts/cards/images
- Supporting the Head of Communications with the development and management of monthly E-newsletter content, webinars and other relevant communications activities
- Developing multi-media communications campaigns
Social media (40%)
- Leading MPE social media and content planning, maintaining and developing our content so that it engages our audiences, supports our messaging and strategic goals
- Managing MPE social media sites – LinkedIn, Facebook, etc, monitoring and advising on ways to increase reach
- Developing an annual content calendar reflecting significant internal and external events
Video filming and editing (15%)
- Supporting development of interview content with stakeholders (such as doctors, patients and other stakeholders)
- Video filming at various events, including medical congresses and the MPE Annual Masterclass
- Video editing and dissemination
Other (5%)
- Staff meetings, annual events, providing communications support to MPE team and other ad hoc communications tasks as required.
About you:
Essential
- Minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in communications role or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience of writing and developing communications content , social media posts, news stories and articles (this will be tested at interview)
- Experience of stakeholder engagement and increasing reach of an organisation via communications channels
- Ability to explain and communicate complex topics to diverse and lay audiences
- Basic digital design skills
- Excellence in writing, proofreading and editing in English. The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker
- Editorial and storytelling skills
- Strong knowledge of social media channels and ability to use analytics tools
- Experience using WordPress and/or other content management systems
- Self-motivating, flexible approach and ability to work with an international team in a virtual setting
Desirable
- Relevant degree in communications, English or comparable
- Design expertise and ability to use Adobe software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere) as well as other platforms such as Canva or PowToon
- Experience of video filming and edition
- Experience in patient advocacy or non-profit healthcare organisation

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is an umbrella organisation of myeloma and AL amyloidosis patient groups across Europe. MPE currently has 52 members based in 33 countries. The mission of the organisation is to drive advocacy by empowering the myeloma community through research, education and collaboration. We achieve this through a team of dedicated staff, volunteers, members who work to accomplish our strategic goals:
