What you’ll do:
- Develop and deliver from start to finish several complex events and courses annually.
- Lead the delivery of pilot products and events end to end.

About the role:
This is an exciting front-of-house role. As receptionist you will be responsible for greeting every young person as they arrive and ensuring they leave safely. You will also be responsible for the reception area: ensuring young people enter the session smoothly; processing new members; directing phone calls and enquiries; maintaining the membership database efficiently; and carrying out regular communication.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:

We are looking for someone to join our team as a Grants & Programmes Lead. This role plays an integral role within the team to deliver impact to tens of thousands of dogs and cats around the world. The Grants and Programmes Lead will manage the team of expert grant managers, guiding and empowering them to achieve impact.
The Lead will oversee several portfolios of work within the grants and programmes function at Battersea, as we expand our work to impact more dogs and cats. Over the coming five years it is planned that the size and complexity of grant making, and other forms of programming will grow, including the establishment of several multi-year programmes in the UK and abroad. This is a senior role within the Grants and Programmes team in the Global Programmes Directorate, requiring excellent experience of people management, implementing strategic programmes and good grant making practice at a team level. The successful postholder should be comfortable taking an adaptive management approach and coaching the team to shape proposals and portfolios of work to advance the collective interests of a team. About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Volunteer Coordinator to join our team covering Scotland. Your role will require you to oversee and run the volunteer programme, including recruitment and training of volunteers to support the delivery of contracts. You will also be supporting the Operational Managers to coordinate and promote VoiceAbilitiy’s volunteer work in the area to meet the needs of the service and those that volunteer.
About you
Desirably you will have some experience of volunteering or, working with volunteers/ vulnerable people, or delivering advocacy. You will have a knowledge of advocacy in health, social care and other settings and an understanding of the issues affecting adult social care, disability, autism, and mental health service users.
You should also understand safeguarding in relation to volunteering and the people we work with and the social values of volunteering and volunteer projects.

You will be responsible for ensuring that we select the best volunteers for our roles; ensuring that they receive appropriate training and development to ensure that we are delivering the service required by our clients.
You will help to develop appropriate volunteer opportunities to meet the needs of our volunteering service and support the Operations Manager to coordinate and promote VoiceAbility’s volunteering work in Scotland.

Macular disease is the biggest cause of sight loss in the UK, with around 300 people diagnosed every day. The Macular Society is the only charity determined to beat the fear and isolation of macular disease with world class research, and the best advice and support.
To support people affected by macular disease now, the Macular Society provides a range of support, information and services. Our research programme is focused on finding new treatments and a cure to beat macular disease forever.
A macular disease diagnosis can be devastating. After diagnosis many people struggle to cope with their emotions and can feel shocked, afraid or isolated.
Our telephone counselling service is staffed by a team of seven self-employed, qualified counsellors who have extensive experience either personally or professionally.
Each year the counselling service supports around 600 people who have Macular Disease including their family members. We receive approximately 50 referrals each month, which after assessment may result in time limited individual or group support. We also have an array of other internal support services that we can link with and refer into.
If you have a recognised qualification in counselling or psychotherapy (level 4 two-year diploma minimum) and ideally a membership of a professional body, preferably BACP then we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for a talented strategic thinker and partner with transferable skills, to join the People, Culture and Inclusion (PCI) team to cover a period of maternity leave.
As a People Partner, you will provide an integrated, consultative HR service to your assigned Directorate. You will be working in conjunction with members of the PCI team and in partnership with the Head of PCI to align NCVO's Strategic Plan through people, by contributing to Directorate strategic planning activities and delivering the strategic People, Culture and Inclusion initiatives which also talk to the strategy.
The People Partner will play a vital role in the implementation of all strategies to enhance the culture, values and ambition to meet challenges within the sector. This will include (but is not limited to); Supporting and embracing NCVO's EDI Agenda, Workforce planning and transformation change programmes in collaboration with your colleagues within the PCI team. In addition to your strategic remit, you will deliver a solution focused HR service to all primarily at the level of Line Management and Senior Management Team colleagues, supporting the more complex people matters and implementing talent management and engagement strategies.
The ideal candidate will use their consulting and negotiating skills to look for risks and issues that are impacting the delivery of the Directorate's aims, both locally and strategically. At the same time, the senior management team regularly enlist HR expertise for complex change programmes which range from implementation of new systems and technical processes, which potentially impact on our size and shape to large scale strategic initiatives to enhance services for our 17,000 members.

We are seeking a bright and hardworking person to help our events team organise interesting, informative and impactful discussions between leading policy experts and high-profile politicians.
Reporting to the Head of Events and Partnerships, you will help us arrange panel discussions, speeches and policy roundtables, which take place online, in-person and hybrid. You will also contribute to our busy programme across the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Conservative Party Conferences in the autumn. Speakers at SMF events in 2024 have included a number of high-profile politicians including the Employment Minister, Schools Minister and former Shadow Secretary of State for Education and the Minister for Gambling. Topics covered have included transport poverty, student mental health, farmed animal welfare, economic fraud, pensions, social mobility, and prisoner rehabilitation.
The successful candidate will be expected to attend and support with the SMF’s events at future Autumn party conferences, for which some weekend and evening work may be required.
The duties of the Events Officer will include, but not be limited to:
- Supporting the SMF’s events team with the operational management of the SMF’s events in Westminster and at the political party conferences – these include; report launches, panel debates, seminars, dinners and expert roundtables.
- Researching and managing bookings for external venues, AV, catering, staff travel and accommodation
- Liaising with internal stakeholders, including the SMF’s Trustees and Policy Advisory Board, and external stakeholders, such as corporate partners, journalists, government officials, trade bodies and MPs.
- Researching and identifying appropriate speakers and attendees for events, and potential sponsors and partners for future SMF projects.
- Sending event invitations, managing guest lists and contact databases.
- Drafting event invitations and speaker briefings.
- Supporting with filming and livestreaming events (training will be given)
- Uploading events to the SMF website and drafting marketing emails.
- Representing the SMF at all events – setting up event materials, AV and catering, greeting attendees and speakers
Person specification:
An ideal candidate will have:
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle a range of different assignments at the same time, to react quickly and prioritise a busy workload.
- Good IT Skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- An interest in public policy and politics, and an interest in, and understanding of the Social Market Foundation’s work and mission.
- Some prior experience in events planning in the commercial, charity or voluntary sector.
Benefits and working hours:

The Development and Events Co-ordinator plays a vital role in supporting AAM’s fundraising activity. The role holder will take responsibility for the management of our Friends membership scheme.
