About this role
The role of Health Engagement Worker will involve supporting a caseload of service users that are experiencing homelessness. The role requires the use of specialist knowledge and relationship skills to influence service users with varying degrees of mental health, addiction and trauma related issues to engage with health services.
This will include advocacy in registering them for medical services and accompanying them to appointments; assisting them in addressing all aspects of physical and mental health or substance addiction needs, as well as advocating or them to get access to source housing and social security benefits. Working collaboratively with our partners Arch Healthcare the role is dependent on good communication and joint working with a variety of partners and professionals.
The role requires a high degree of motivation to support complex and vulnerable people, often in a lone-working situation. With a passion to work collaboratively with others for the good of our service users, and with some experience of working in a related field in a voluntary or paid capacity.
A high degree of emotional intelligence is required to support service users, many of whom have complex emotional needs, with backgrounds of trauma, neglect, abuse, crime and low self-worth. A role of this nature will experience a range of emotions from joy to grief and as such requires a high degree of resilience to cope with the emotional demands of the role.
Making decisions, “in the moment” to do the right thing to mitigate risk with service users can place high emotional demands on the job holder. The role is highly reactive, unpredictable and at times, chaotic. The role therefore requires a high degree of self-awareness to one’s own resilience levels and exercising appropriate levels of self-care.

Their stay isn’t temporary, they are likely to be suffering with deteriorating mental and physical health, becoming victims of crime, losing control of their life and even dying prematurely. Role Summary

Role Description
Service Delivery
Using frontline practical and procedural knowledge of working with complex service users to support them to engage with health care services during their housing vulnerability. This could include, but is not limited to;
- Assisting them in addressing housing, financial, health or wellbeing needs
- Accompanying them to appointments
- Connecting them with appropriate support services such as substance misuse services or food banks
- Collaborating with agencies such as the local authority, housing providers and support services
- Advocating on behalf of the service user to access medical care, housing and benefits.
- Maintaining regular contact, a listening ear and emotional support during times of crisis
- Helping increase their self-confidence and self-efficacy to improve their chances of moving on from homelessness
- Manage own calendar to deliver a caseload during periods of work-related pressure, including actively pursuing the project outcomes set for the project and individual clients.
- Use interpersonal and communication skills to provide support to service users and collaborate with others including colleagues, partner agencies, health care professionals and external agencies.
- Take duty of care seriously by assessing the service users social and environmental conditions, drawing out and passing on relevant information to and from healthcare professionals, ensuring client confidentiality is maintained.
- Use of excellent writing skills to prepare and submit housing applications along with a good working knowledge of housing legislation in order to advocate on behalf of service users.
- Support delivery of the activities programme where needed.
- Brief and liaise with other members of the team and external agencies regarding service users, enabling them to effectively carry out their roles.
- To record all service user data on the Inform system within the standards set by the organisation.
- Carry out light physical tasks, such as travelling to visit service users, shopping or lifting office equipment.
- Oversee work streams within the project as directed by the Project Lead.
Service Development
- Collaborate with the Advocacy and Patient Discharge Coordinater, maintain good standards of support for patients as well as good communication with hospital staff and the weekday in-reach team.
- Contribute to initiatives that seek to influence service improvements, implement changes and develop new interventions and support for clients.
- Provide reports and case studies when requested.
- To be part of and contribute to the Justlife staff team, attending meetings as appropriate and to be involved in appropriate staff development, training, supervision and reflective practice as well as continuing professional development and training events where appropriate and be committed to team events.
Research
- Supporting the wider Justlife vision to feed into research and help develop the service including the involvement of service users in design and delivery of the service.

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) is offering an exciting position as Communications Manager (Digital and Social Media) in a dynamic European non-profit patient advocacy organisation. This role will help deliver the MPE communications strategy, providing both strategic and operational support across the organisation, and ensuring that MPE is increasing our reach and impact to improve the lives and experiences of myeloma patients.
As Communications Manager (Digital and Social Media), you will work with the Head of Communications and other key staff across to the organisation to:
- Implement MPE communications strategy, monitor and improve MPE reach, and increase impact with key stakeholders
- Develop and disseminate strong and relevant messaging for key stakeholders
- Monitor and evaluate our performance and reach across digital and social communications channels
This will include working on the following core activities and tasks:
Digital communications (40%)
- Writing, editing and updating content for the MPE website (i.e. using WordPress, Elementor and other content management systems)
- Developing written and graphic content for MPE programme specific websites (such as MPE Navigator and Myeloma Access Atlas)
- Collaborating with relevant MPE staff on digital content development and publication
- Designing educational and promotional materials including leaflets, reports, patient materials, campaign materials and social media adverts/cards/images
- Supporting the Head of Communications with the development and management of monthly E-newsletter content, webinars and other relevant communications activities
- Developing multi-media communications campaigns
Social media (40%)
- Leading MPE social media and content planning, maintaining and developing our content so that it engages our audiences, supports our messaging and strategic goals
- Managing MPE social media sites – LinkedIn, Facebook, etc, monitoring and advising on ways to increase reach

About you:
Essential
- Minimum of four years of relevant professional experience in communications role or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience of writing and developing communications content , social media posts, news stories and articles (this will be tested at interview)
- Experience of stakeholder engagement and increasing reach of an organisation via communications channels
- Ability to explain and communicate complex topics to diverse and lay audiences
- Basic digital design skills
- Excellence in writing, proofreading and editing in English. The ideal candidate will be a native English speaker
- Editorial and storytelling skills
- Strong knowledge of social media channels and ability to use analytics tools
- Experience using WordPress and/or other content management systems

Your primary task will be to take on responsibility for managing specific projects such as those outlined below, and to lead on other projects as identified by the Chief Operations Officer (COO). You will be working alongside the COO to provide operational, developmental, and strategic support for the charity, ensuring its continuation, sustainability, and success. You will provide strong communication and organisational skills and ensure systems are in place to facilitate effective co-ordination and functioning of all sections of the charity. You would be expected to work autonomously and be able to meet deadlines. You will actively seek and develop new opportunities for our charity and be able to deputise for the Chief Operations Officer when appropriate, e.g., during annual leave. This includes ensuring all reporting aspects are complete, including liaising with other team members.
AREAS OF WORK, TASKS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Management
- Responsible for ensuring robust project management documentation is in place, producing milestone plans and monthly updates, and highlighting any risks.
- Taking full responsibility for the coordination and delivery of designated projects from start to finish.
- Organising cultivation events, including venue sourcing, booking, and attendee management.
- Organising international trips for clinicians, including: booking flights and accommodation; organising travel insurance; managing visa applications and other necessary paperwork; managing all communications with clinicians.
- Bringing teams to the UK for training visits, including: liaising with hospitals and relevant departments; organising flights and accommodation; managing visa applications and other necessary paperwork, managing all communications with clinicians.
- Coordinating and producing/accessing training videos and resources, and liaising with the specialist website provider for upload and management.
Charity Development
- Working to manage charity activities, including, but not limited to:
- Positioning CLEFT as a respected charity and ensuring it works to influence and encourage good practice within the sector.
- Liaising effectively and working with the Board of Trustees, committee members, and section leads, as well as other relevant stakeholders.
- Seeking opportunities to promote and develop the charity within the sector.
- Supporting the charity in development opportunities with sector specialists, outside organisations, and other key stakeholders to develop relationships on behalf of the charity.
- Maintaining a direct link to the Board of Trustees, committee members, and section leads through meeting attendance and ongoing comms via email/WhatsApp, contributing effectively where needed.
Other areas of responsibility
The Deputy Operations Officer should be prepared to perform other duties that may be necessary from time to time, falling within the remit of responsibility of this post and appropriate under the charitable objects and development plan. These may include but are not limited to:
- Shared running of the virtual office.
- Regularly liaising with Trustees and keeping them updated.
- Updating and adhering to CLEFT’s policies and procedures, including the development of new policy when directed or identified.
As a small charity, all team members need to be flexible with their approach and be willing to undertake basic duties as and when required.

We are looking to recruit a CEO (Director) to support us in an exciting period of growth. Over the next 5 years, we will double our reach and impact. The CEO (Director) will lead us through this transformative period.
Since 2011 Disability Africa has developed a model using playschemes as hubs to deliver essential lifesaving services to extremely vulnerable disabled children and to end their exclusion in low-income African communities. Using this model, we have worked with project partners in Kenya, The Gambia, Sierra Leone and Zambia. 680 disabled children have now attended our projects more than 90,000 times since 2011. Now the charity is planning to grow and expand with our 5-year plan (‘DA2029’) to replicate the Disability Africa Model to reach more disabled children across Africa.
By 2029 we will:
• Start work with at least 4 new partners in Africa (as well as expected growth at our existing projects).
• Deliver 160,000 attendances by at least 1,500 disabled children in 7 African countries.
• Grow and reach as many disabled children as possible - we know we can’t do it all by ourselves - so we will engage other international NGOs to adopt our model of inclusion.

What you will be doing
The Director of Fundraising will be a key member of our executive team reporting directly to the Secretary General. As our first Director of Fundraising, you will have the opportunity to build and develop your own team to help you deliver the fundraising strategy.
