About Chapter One
Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most.
Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports about 3,000 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 140 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.
We have set ourselves ambitious targets to support thousands more children by 2029, and this role, with responsibility for managing, stewarding and nurturing our existing corporate partners, will be crucial to ensuring that we have sufficient volunteers and support to achieve not only this target, but also to develop other innovative pilot programmes.

About the role
Chapter One is seeking a proactive, energetic and enthusiastic Corporate Partnerships Manager to be an integral part of a team which aims to both maximise corporate income and deliver an excellent partner and volunteer experience.
Reporting to our Head of Corporate Partnerships, and responsible for the line management of our Corporate Partnerships Officer, you’ll deliver on our annual volunteer and income targets and maintain our strong partner retention rate (target 87%). This will involve supporting the account management of a portfolio of existing partners and the responsibility to nurture relationships to increase partner investment in Chapter One over time. The role involves collaborating across departments to ensure a seamless and positive experience for volunteers and partners

Key Responsibilities
Partner Stewardship

Lead the account management of a selected portfolio of corporate partners, ensuring Chapter One achieves its annual retention and growth targets

In collaboration with the Head of Corporate Partnerships, devise effective schemes of delegation and partner allocation within the Corporate Partnerships Team

Identify opportunities to increase a partner’s support eg by identifying other regional/divisional opportunities or inclusion of Chapter One as a social value partner in public sector bids

Conduct regular partnership meetings, including mid and end of year reviews, proactively proposing tailored opportunities to retain and grow partner support

Lead on producing high quality written communications, reports, proposals and pitches as per the requirements of each partner, collaborating with the Data and Systems Officer and Fundraising team as needed

Advocate effectively, with passion and enthusiasm, for Chapter One’s programmes in a variety of internal and external settings

Strategically use LinkedIn to identify, connect with, and actively engage key stakeholders within corporate partner organisations,

Keep up to date with relevant business news and strategic shifts or developments at key partners and sectors, proactively seeking opportunities to broaden knowledge

Regularly analyse data in Microsoft Excel / Google Sheets, working with formulas, pivot tables and data analysis tools to aid decision-making and create dashboards.

Oversee and maintain all Account Management related processes, including stewardship plans, recording of activity on the Salesforce CRM and internal platform databases

Ensure, in conjunction with the Finance Assistant, that partners are invoiced for their Chapter One donations accurately and in a timely manner
Line management

Line manage and develop the Corporate Partnerships Officer, ensuring adherence to all Chapter One’s HR Policies and Procedures

Be a source of advice and guidance for the Corporate Partnerships Officer as they manage their allocated partner relationships

Supervise the Corporate Partnerships Officer to lead volunteer recruitment meetings, including stepping in if necessary

Supervise the Corporate Partnerships Officer to manage new partner onboarding meetings, stepping in to lead them if required
Partner/volunteer onboarding and experience

Alongside the Head of Corporate Partnerships, use internal systems to assign partner teams and volunteers to specific schools and ensure that their needs are met

Develop proactive, supportive relationships with Volunteer Coordinators in partner organisations, providing high-quality data and information in a timely manner

Work closely with the Volunteer Support Team to ensure that partner and volunteer onboarding is a smooth, time-efficient experience

Support the Programme Management team to liaise with partner contacts about the organisation of in-person school/office visits and virtual meet and greets

Marketing and Communications

Work with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure that companies and volunteers have access to an array of promotional assets and recruitment materials

Create and provide content for the regular volunteer and corporate partner newsletters, including working with partners to gather volunteer testimonials and partner profiles

Work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to develop ways to promote, showcase and celebrate partnerships and individual volunteers across our social media channels and other digital platforms

Encourage corporate partners to promote Chapter One through their own social media and channels

The British Academy – the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking an Events Manager (Public Engagement) to join the Communications and Marketing department to devise and deliver the year-round public engagement programme.
The role
The role will be responsible for the planning, management and delivery of programmes designed to support researchers to develop their skills and experience in public engagement as a route to impact. This includes the annual flagship Summer Showcase festival, the nationwide public engagement funding scheme SHAPE, Involve and Engage, and key partnerships and collaborations with other organisations in the sector.
You will work closely with the Head of Events and Public Engagement on the strategic development of these programmes and will be responsible for supporting and guiding researchers to develop high-quality, innovative projects which provide meaningful opportunities for two-way dialogue with the public about their research and the humanities and social sciences more broadly.
About you
You will be someone who has passion and experience of delivering high-quality public engagement activities and who thrives in the ‘live’ environment of events and other public-facing activities. You will be equally as comfortable with planning, including developing frameworks for monitoring and evaluation.
You will also have experience in managing and developing people, whether directly managing staff or leading on a task with a dotted-line basis. A core part of this role is working in partnership with both internal teams and external organisations, and so we are looking for someone who is collegiate and flexible and who understands how to build positive working relationships across a diverse range of skillsets and experiences.

Strategy and planning
• Deliver the existing Community and Events strategy and maximise opportunities for income growth
• Identify and develop new income generating opportunities across Community and Events Fundraising, devising new events and engagement opportunities

Income growth, event and supporter management

• Develop and deliver supporter journeys that raise average fundraising per head, decreases drop-outs and increases repeat entry

• Deliver excellent support to fundraising groups and recruit new volunteers to fundraise and advocate on behalf of the charity

Fundraising events management
• Manage delivery of the event portfolio to achieve financial and sign-up targets, delivering effective on the-day support for event participants. This includes ensuring our events are accessible for visually impaired participants
• Deliver excellent supporter care to ensure supporters are motivated to achieve (and exceed) their fundraising targets, feel valued and build engagement with us
• Key point of contact for high level event participants and community fundraisers via face-to-face meetings, phone calls and emails – providing timely and personalised support
• Support the Events and Community Officer with enquiries, applications and registrations for challenge events, ensuring high levels of conversion, and capturing relevant supporter data
• Support the Head of Community and Engagement, or other teams within Fight for Sight with the successful delivery of key special events, including fundraising gala dinners or receptions, virtual events and mini conferences, and third party or established supporter events.
• When required, support the Events and Community Officer in managing guest lists, enquiries, and ticket sales for special/major donor events and receptions, delivering a seamless guest experience and timely follow-ups supporter care and relationship management
Marketing
• Oversee all paid Facebook advertising activity for events, updating web listings, and utilising our networks
• Work with the Marketing & Communications team to raise awareness/increase recruitment across all activities, highlighting case studies and media stories
• Develop and deliver effective and engaging content, and materials for supporters to increase recruitment, retention, and average fundraising amounts
• Oversee the creation and delivery of quarterly events e-newsletter, plus additional e-blasts
Managing information and reporting
• Work with the Database Manger to ensure accurate records within our CRM system (ThankQ) and management of income from online and offline giving
• Carry out post-event evaluations, analysing supporter data help facilitate greater levels of income

The need for good mental health support is growing, as are our funding needs and ambitions. We provide a range of support including 1-to-1 counselling, a wide variety of wellbeing activities which increase confidence and reduce social isolation, as well as work-related training courses and employment guidance.
We’re looking for an individual with a strong background in fundraising, in particular corporate fundraising, as well as line management experience. Building existing and new supporter relationships is of importance, as is public speaking, and an understanding of mental health would be of value. Finally, supporting and inspiring other public fundraising and marketing roles in the team is a key aspect of the role.

Position: Partnerships and Public Fundraising Manager
Responsible to: Chief Executive
Location: Guildford, Surrey with hybrid working offered; we will accommodate flexible working patterns wherever possible
Hours: 36 hours per week
Salary: £36,000 – £38,000pa

Key Responsibilities (a full list of responsibilities is listed in the Candidate Brief):
Corporate Fundraising (70%):
- Manage current corporate partnerships and fundraising, proactively building on these relationships to maximise engagement with employees at all levels.
- Identify & approach corporates, securing financial contributions & support in kind.
- Undertake & commit to regular networking to forge positive relationships with existing & potential supporters.
- Manage & grow the Mental Health Leaders Network & other workplace mental health support, including Mental Health First Aid training.
- Undertake presentations to potential supporters at any level, speaking publicly about Oakleaf to increase awareness and fundraising.
Management: Public Fundraising & Marketing (30%)
- Oversee & manage the two other public fundraising functions (individuals & community/events), supporting, developing & inspiring staff to achieve & exceed annual fundraising targets.
- Manage the Digital Marketing Manager role & supervise implementation of an effective marketing & social media plan.
- Attend community events to speak on behalf of Oakleaf if necessary, when the Community & Events Fundraising Manager is unavailable.

- At least three years of experience in a charity/third sector fundraising position
- Proven track record in developing strong relationships with corporates and securing financial support
- Experience in line management
- Strong interpersonal and networking abilities; adept at building rapport quickly with people from a wide range of backgrounds
- Experience of budgeting, forecasting and working towards financial targets
- Ability to confidently undertake public speaking
- An understanding of and empathy with the aims of Oakleaf & needs of its client group
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle

The role
We are seeking a fundraiser who relishes the excitement of exceeding income targets and developing strong relationships. You will identify opportunities to increase the value of your partnership portfolio and work closely with the Corporate Development Team to ensure the transition between new business and account management is seamless for both FareShare and our partners.
You will manage a portfolio of partners: designing and delivering tailored partnership plans and an innovative and personalised suite of partnership activity. You will work with colleagues across fundraising to ensure we maximise the value of our partnerships. We currently have partnerships with a large variety of exciting brands such as Tesco, KPMG, Yorkshire Building Society, Premier Foods and many more. Our partners support us in a variety of ways including cause related marketing campaigns, staff and customer fundraising and corporate donations.
To be successful in this role, you will have a proven track record of excellent partnership/relationship management and ideally have experience of delivering a variety of fundraising partnerships including commercial brand licensing and staff fundraising. You will have excellent communication skills and will be comfortable negotiating bespoke deals and benefits packages and will lead renewal plans to secure and grow the support of current partners.
Cross team collaboration is crucial to the role, and you will be able to demonstrate strong relationship building and influencing skills.
Main areas of responsibility
1) Deliver first rate account management to a portfolio of existing corporate partners to achieve objectives and build excellent relationships that facilitate future growth.
- Provide a high standard of professional relationship and account management to a portfolio of partners, delivering a mix of partnership types including Charity of the Year, commercial brand partnerships/campaigns and retail partnerships.
- Working with the Senior Corporate Partnerships Manager and wider team to implement bespoke cultivation and stewardship strategies for each corporate partner, that encourage the development of strategic, multi-faceted partnerships thinking creatively and entrepreneurially to maximise the value of each partnership and meet agreed targets and KPIs.
- Ensure FareShare’s strategic priorities are addressed through our partnerships and that the brand is protected and appropriately valued.
- Prepare and deliver engaging and confident presentations (both at one-to-one level and at a much larger scale).
- Establish, agree and monitor key milestones for each relationship.
- Ensure that partnerships are delivered on time.
- Monitor and maintain systems and processes, including Salesforce, financial accounting, pipeline, contracts and due diligence.
2) Work closely with internal stakeholders to maximise the potential for fundraising
- Work with the Corporate Development function on the development of new partnerships and to ensure a smooth transition from new business to account management.
- Work with other areas of Fundraising, the Food Team and Operations Team to maximise on opportunities for partners .
- Work with Marketing and Communications Team to promote partnerships across FareShare and partner channels.
3) Adhere to the organisation’s legal obligations, Charity Compliance & Policies
- Efficient and effective management of commercial income activity ensuring compliance with GDPR, legal and charity regulation and FareShare’s own Ethical Gift Policy.
- Manage all legal and financial aspects of partnership agreements.
- Manage and work within FareShare’s IT systems and data guidelines .
- Represent Fundraising where required on internal working groups .
- Undertake training and skills development and keep up to date with the changing requirements of the role.

- Minimum of two years of experience providing excellent relationship management and stewardship with key external and internal stakeholders in a charity
- Demonstrable experience of managing six figure partnerships in a charity ideally including commercial brand licensing

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines
- Experience of financial management
- Excellent negotiation and influencing skills with experience creating legal agreements
- Commercial awareness with knowledge of various corporate sectors and relevant VAT considerations
