Vocations and Placements (18-30) Development Officer

The Vacancy
The Methodist Church is at an exciting point in the development of its ministry with young adults (18-30). We are seeking to appoint someone with enthusiasm and passion for seeing young adults connect with God and explore their calling as a follower of Christ.
This role is integral to the delivery of the Young Adult Ministry Development Plan, and will focus on the following priorities:
- The management, development and advocacy of a new Young Adult Mission Placement Scheme, which aims to provide opportunities for young adults to be employed (or volunteer) in mission-focused placements in local churches and circuits where they can explore their vocation.
- Advocating for, supporting and enabling creative and relevant young adult ministry to be started and embedded in circuits and districts by journeying with local circuits/districts, providing advice and mentoring as appropriate to pilot creative projects for young adults to engage with and grow in discipleship and vocation.
An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required for this role, the cost of which will be incurred by the Methodist Church.

About the role
As a receptionist, you will be part of Crisis Skylight Brent’s Engagement and Assessment Team, providing a high quality, non-judgemental and safe service to individuals who approach our Skylight Centre. You will be the first point of contact for a range of enquiries from people who are experiencing homelessness for the first time, individuals with complex and multiple needs, visitors, volunteers, and supporters. You will be providing information about Crisis’ services, delivering a high-quality triage both in person and on the telephone. This is an opportunity to be a key part in ending someone’s homelessness.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant experience of working within a reception/administrative support role
- Experience of providing customer service within a commitment to deliver the highest standard of customer care.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work successfully with disadvantaged or social excluded groups and individuals.

You will provide proactive and efficient secretariat and administrative support to the Executive and Non-Executive Teams, working closely with the Leadership Team to support the fulfilment of their day-to-day tasks and strategic objectives.
The role includes supporting and organising meetings and reports, and minuting of executive meetings. In addition to general PA and administrative duties, you will provide a cohesive secretariat function to support the smooth and efficient operation of the Mind THNR Board and its sub-committees.
You will work closely with the Leadership Team to set agendas, monitor action logs, and provide a high level of support to the Board. You will share collective responsibility for supporting the delivery of business objectives, through active engagement and collaboration with colleagues at all levels in the organisation
This role is flexible in terms of days and hours, although you need to attend Board meetings in person, once a quarter in the evening and committee meetings, which are also in the evening, but on line, so three evening meetings a quarter. About the Role
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join our Bedford Mental Health Prevention service for adults which aims to improve people’s mental wellbeing, raise aspirations and enhance confidence.
As Service Coordinator you will be responsible for implementing working recovery models and coordinating the operational plans for the service to ensure that people are able to manage their mental health, move through their recovery journeys and achieve positive outcomes.
Along with coordinating service delivery to meet its aims, objectives and Key Performance Indicators, you will also line manage the service Recovery Workers and lead on recruitment, onboarding and management of volunteers in the service.
Additionally you will conduct assessments of individual’s suitability for the service, leading on more complex cases and guiding people through the range of available interventions that can support them to achieve the outcomes that matter to them.
In addition to managing the day-to-day delivery of the service you will also contribute to the direct provision of the service by leading and facilitating group sessions where needed and by offering informal 1-2-1 mental health and wellbeing support that reduces the chance that people will fall through gaps, be isolated and ensuring the right support and the right time that manages a range of needs.
You will lead opportunities to support events in the community to raise awareness of our services and to build links with local organisations and agencies.
You will need to be empathetic and deliver a person-centred approach in a non-judgemental way, collaborating with people to empower and engage them. SUN facilitators will have regular supervision and support in this role along with appropriate training.

We are looking for people to join us as part time peripatetic Project Workers, working over the weekends and bank holidays as part of the Bristol Out of Hours Service (BOOHSI). The service provides out of hours trauma informed support to 5 accommodation services across our mixed and Women’s pathway, aimed at strengthening the existing provision of support to clients with multiple needs and experiencing homelessness.
As an out of hours Project Worker, you will work across different accommodation services to provide weekend support to residents and deliver engaging activities which involve clients. Planning your time well, and taking instruction from managers, staff and on-call managers you will:
- Support lead workers, and work with clients to plan and deliver weekend activities for residents.
- Provide vital support and assistance to clients and be available to listen and deal with people’s individual needs as they arise, providing practical and emotional support to clients in a way that is approachable, engaging and flexible.
- Develop a good knowledge of relevant protocols and safety precautions so that you can appropriately deal with emergency situations that arise during your shift.
- Carry out relevant building and welfare checks and carrying out relevant administrative tasks and incident reporting and handover notes.
- Be provided with training and development to ensure you feel confident to carry out your duties and provide person centred support to clients to meet individual needs, identifying personal aims and ambitions and helping to make plans to achieve them.
- Work on the weekly shift rota with typical shifts on a Saturday and Sunday from 10am -3pm, and some additional bank holidays.

Additionally, the successful individual will join the staff team in delivering self-advocacy groups, facilitate Quality Checks (peer inspections of local authority supported homes), and lead our crucial engagement with Oxfordshire County Council (OCC). The work with OCC involves supporting and coordinating our members with a learning disability to effectively contribute and have their voices heard at high level meetings.
This post calls for an individual with excellent project coordination, administration, and communication skills. We need a resilient individual who thrives on regular face-to-face interaction with beneficiaries and is as equally comfortable with professionals across the sector. Bank Support Workers have the ability to accept any shifts available on an ad-hoc basis across from all of Look Ahead's specialisms including Mental Health, Learning Disabilities, Homelessness and Young People. Bank Support Workers will provide support to customers to help them develop the life skills they require to meet the assessed needs of the customers of the service. They will work with customers to promote social inclusion and alongside other members of the team to promote independent living, encouraging customers to maximise their skills and choices. Within Learning Disability services, this will include providing physical, domestic, emotional and social care. Within Mental Health and Homelessness services they will enable vulnerable people living in a variety of different tenures to manage their tenancies/ licences and move towards greater independence within the community by providing a flexible and individually tailored support package. While carrying out activities, Bank Support Workers should deal with all customers, visitors and staff in a professional and appropriate manner and report to Look Ahead staff and management any observations relating to customers' welfare.

What you'll do:
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers
- Conducting key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'
- Proactively manage risk and safety both in and outside of their physical living environment
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation
- Undertake all administrative work and keep accurate and comprehensive tenant/customer records to professional standards
- Report any observations relating to customers welfare
- Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local area to provide a range of engagement opportunities for customers in the community
