· Raising philanthropic income for the Medical Sciences Division by securing donations of up to £50,000

· Providing effective stewardship for Medical Sciences donors;

· Engaging and stewarding legacy donations to the Medical Sciences.

Rainbow Migration is the longest-running charity in Europe dedicated to supporting LGBTQI+ people through the asylum and immigration system and has been campaigning for their rights since 1993. We are recruiting for an Operations Officer to play a key role in supporting the effective day-to-day operations of the organisation.

This is an exciting time to join the organisation. We have grown rapidly in recent years from a small charity generating £200k income in 2019 to £1M in 2024. We are now expanding our operations team to support the larger staff team and delivery of our strategy.

This role will support the organisation’s ongoing development by helping ensure the charity has necessary systems in place and operates in line with its policies and procedures. You will support the organisation’s IT systems, digital transformation, HR, finance and administrative processes. Your responsibilities will include:

· Supporting the operation and improvement of systems that maintain delivery of our mission such as office management and administration, IT and HR

· Work closely with the Operations and Officer Manager to implement digital transformation to ensure that the organisation is using the best tools and working in as efficient a manner as possible

· Work closely with the Operations and Officer Manager and Administrator to ensure financial reports are produced accurately and in a timely manner

· Support the drafting of policies, procedures and systems used by the organisation

· Act as our day-to-day administrator for our database on Salesforce, with training provided as needed

· Provide first-tier support for IT problems within the organisation and liaise with our IT support provider when issues need escalation.

Role overview

Contract type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week). Working part-time (minimum 21 hours) will be considered. Occasional work in the evenings and at weekends may be required but with plenty of notice. Rainbow Migration encourages staff to maintain a good work life balance and has a TOIL system in place.

Salary: Starting at £31,294 with potential annual step increases up to £35,086 (pro rata if working part time), plus statutory employer’s pension contribution. In addition to an annual step increase, we consider giving a separate inflationary increase every April.

Location: Rainbow Migration’s wheelchair accessible offices are located between Vauxhall and the Oval, London. This role will have an office-based contract but the postholder can choose to work from home for part of the week in agreement with their line manager as per our hybrid working policy. You must be available to work from our offices in London when necessary. The successful candidate would also be welcome to work from the office full-time if that is their preference. At the time of posting this advert, none of our staff are going into the office every day. There might also be occasional travel outside London with plenty of notice. Annual leave: Initially 25 days per year. After two years of employment, this will increase by one day per year up to a maximum of 28 days (pro rata if working part-time).

Following a 3-month probation period, you will transition to a fixed-term contract. Upon successful completion of this term, you will be offered a permanent employment contract. A minimum salary of £39,695.24 gross (our salary base for people resident in the UK) will apply from the beginning of the probationary period. The salary base may change due to your previous experience related to the position, or your experience in animal advocacy (+3% for each year). In addition, the salary increases with your seniority in Open Cages according to the following model:

About your role

We are a small and ambitious early-stage organisation with two full-time team members. Our current objective: to help the 1 billion chickens raised annually in the UK. By joining us as our first employee focussed on operations, you will help lay the foundations of the organisation as it prepares for rapid scaling, not only increasing our impact for animals now but by also helping to shape the organisation we want to become. In this role your first task will be to help us manage, monitor and speed up our internal processes such as accounting, finances, payments, staff operations, donor management and event planning.

THE ROLE

This role at The Girls’ Network, will be responsible for overseeing the charity’s finance, operations, HR, governance, and compliance functions. As a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT), you will play a key role in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction and ensuring its long-term sustainability. You’ll provide expert advice to the CEO and Board, lead on business planning and risk management, and manage the Finance and Operations team to deliver efficient, high-quality internal systems and support. With a focus on continuous improvement, equity, and organisational effectiveness, this role is essential to helping The Girls’ Network grow its impact and support more girls to achieve their ambitions.

Key Activities

Leadership and Governance

• Support the organisation in reviewing and implementing improved systems and processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
• As a Senior Management Team (SMT) member, take a leading role in The Girls' Network's strategic and operational leadership.
• Provide expert support and guidance to the CEO on legal and governance duties as a charity.
• Work with the CEO and Chair of Finance and Audit Committee to set agendas and lead on producing papers for the quarterly Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meetings and contribute to Board papers.
• Responsible for management of the organisational risk register.
• Lead the annual business planning and reporting cycle.
• Act as lead advisor for legal compliance, managing external legal advice as needed.
• Line manage, support, and develop the Finance and Operations team.
• Represent The Girls’ Network at external events and collaborating with key stakeholders.

Finance

• Ensure consistent delivery and quality of finance operations, including transactions processing, management accounts, budgets, and annual accounts.
• Lead on the financial aspects of fundraising, contract management, and funder reporting.
• Oversee statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with charity and accounting standards.
• Maintain internal controls to protect assets, prevent fraud, and ensure business continuity.

Human Resources and Working Practices

• Review HR function and establish appropriate in-house or outsourced support as required.
• Manage HR issues with internal or external advisors as needed.
• Ensure the quality and consistency of HR processes, including recruitment, induction, payroll, pensions, and staff training and development.
• Lead on the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) work plan in collaboration with SMT and staff groups.
• Have oversight of policy development and implementation related to The Girls’ Network operations.

IT, Facilities, and Business Support

• Oversee CRM and digital platforms to ensure effective data management and operational efficiency.
• Oversee information management strategy, ensuring compliance with GDPR and data security.
• Ensure IT infrastructure and support services are fit for purpose, working with the Office Manager and outsourced providers.
• Manage office operations, including facilities, leases, and contract reviews.
• Ensure active management and periodic review of support contracts across HR, IT, and Facilities.

About the role:

The finance assistant is part of the Finance and Resources function and reports to the Head of Finance. The role has responsibility for ensuring all accounts receivable and payable transactions are processed, recorded and completed. This is a key role for the Finance function to ensure organisational decision making is robust.

 

Purpose of the role:

Supporting the Head of Finance to ensure the organisation’s finances are accurate, compliant and up to date with responsibility for processing financial transactions. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing reports, ensuring the integrity of the finance system and managing customer accounts. About this job

We’re seeking a skilled Purchase Ledger with a passion for accuracy and efficiency to manage the processing and payment of invoices, credit notes, expenses, and other payments through our purchase ledger system. In this vital role, you’ll handle a high volume of transactions using Compleat purchase ordering software and our accounting system (currently Dynamics GP, likely to transition to Microsoft Business Central soon).

You’ll be responsible for ensuring all invoices and expenses are legitimate, accurately matched, and approved in line with our policies and procedures. Acting as the primary contact for suppliers, (including managing the accounts payable mailbox) you’ll ensure that all queries are dealt with promptly and efficiently and that the turnaround between receipt and payment of invoices is in line with what has been agreed with the supplier. You’ll ensure payments are processed on time and prepare bulk BACS payment runs, reconcile supplier statements, and assist with verifying supplier details.

Fundraising & Programmes support:

About the role

The post is part of the Billing Project, an initiative by the London Legal Support Trust, funded by The Legal Education Foundation, aimed at providing specialist support to the free advice sector in London. The project focuses on improving legal aid billing practices to reduce the backlog of unbilled files, enhance cashflow, and maximise income from legal work under legal aid.

This is the fourth iteration of the project, building on the success of pilots launched in 2017.

This project is a collaborative effort between advice agencies. The Billing Coordinator(s) will be employed by the lead organisation and work across other host organisations, with the allocation of time between these organisations to be determined and agreed upon. The Billing Coordinator(s) will also collaborate with other billing professionals in the sector, some of whom have participated in previous pilot projects. Peer-to-peer support will be available to the postholder, and specialist training will be provided to anyone looking to grow within the role.

The purpose of the role is to develop systems that improve the efficiency of costing and billing legal aid files, and to provide a crucial coordination role within the organisations, supporting existing staff in ensuring files are billed promptly and accurately while maximising income from legal aid.

Morgan Law are delighted to partner the oldest children's charity in London to lead the search for a Group Financial Controller.

The Group Financial Controller will play a pivotal role delivering high-quality financial and performance management information, overseeing the audit process, ensuring tax and VAT compliance, and driving the continuous improvement of financial systems and controls. You will manage and lead a team of finance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure smooth and efficient operations across the Group.

As the group acquires new entities, this role will be actively involved in the due diligence/M&A activities of new organisations joining the Group.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts and ensure accurate and timely reporting to trustees, senior managers, and other stakeholders.
• Lead the preparation and management of annual financial statements and liaise with auditors to ensure completion on time.
• Manage tax and VAT compliance, ensuring the Group meets all relevant regulations and optimises its position.
• Champion best practices for financial control and implement necessary policies and procedures to protect the organization's assets.
• Develop and manage financial systems, enhancing their capability to provide effective data for decision-making.
• Lead and mentor a dedicated finance team, ensuring staff development and high morale.
• Manage cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with organisational goals.
• Collaborate with senior management and business partners to ensure financial strategies align with business objectives and growth.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, and business expansions, by providing financial analysis and due diligence support.

In order to be successful in the role, we are looking for;

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with significant post qualification experience gained in a similar role (including managing Payroll, VAT, accounts prep).
• Proven ability to lead and develop finance teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge and experience of working within the voluntary or charity sector, with an understanding of SORP, charitable finance regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
