Head of Individual Giving
Since 2018, Connect: North Korea (CNK) has grown from a small community start-up into an effective and impactful organisation with an annual income of approaching £500,000, mainly through grants from Trusts and Foundations. We now want to develop our individual giving programme to build our unrestricted income and secure our long term growth.
As our new Head of Individual Giving, you will be responsible for growing our income from our individual and corporate base to help us reach more vulnerable members of our community. You will lead on individual fundraising relationships and initiatives, including appeals, fundraising campaigns, and all direct marketing activities and communications. You will position us in our supporters’ minds and encourage them to actively support CNK in 2025 and beyond.
Position: Head of Individual Giving
Responsible to: CEO
Based at: Our offices in New Malden KT3 with some remote/home working. We will be as flexible as possible to accommodate the right candidate.
Contract: Permanent. Full-time (35 hours per week) with occasional evening working required. Flexible hours/days possible whilst respecting core hours of 10am-4pm
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000 + 5% pension on qualifying earnings, health insurance and gym membership
Benefits: 28 days holidays exclusive of public holidays. We also offer 2 additional days on top of this – 1 recharge day where the whole charity closes and 1 day in the week of a staff member’s birthday.
The role
Your specific objectives will be to:

Grow our individual supporter base (individual and corporate) by 30% in 2025 through new donor acquisition strategies

Increasing our unrestricted income from major, mid and low level donors and corporate partners to £100,000 per annum in 2025 and beyond

Delivering impactful messages, responsive and successful direct marketing and digital fundraising campaigns

Funding dependent, we would intend that the role also entails future promotion and staff management potential.
You have:
1) ability and enthusiasm to start up our individual giving programme (low, mid, major donors and corporate) to reach our target to raise £100,000 by end of 2025
2) creativity in creating and communicating personal stories and compelling asks that motivate our supporters to give
3) analytical understanding, strategic acumen and practical experience of the supporter journey from recruitment to regular giving, and ability to deliver this for CNK
Supported by the CEO, your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Strategy:
-
Strategise and plan our annual individual and corporate giving programme with targets and performance indicators.This will be a key focus area within our 2025/6 corporate fundraising strategy.

Report quarterly on progress. Use online analytics, social media insights and other metrics to help us learn, improve and grow our income from low, mid,major donors and corporate supporters.
Annual Corporate and Individual Giving Programmes:
-
Develop and deliver CNK corporate and individual giving fundraising programme of events, campaigns and appeals to raise £100,000 in 2025.

Work closely with CEO and CNK team members to craft information into compelling copy, asks, supporter updates, social media content and personalised campaign appeals.

Plan and deliver low and mid level individual giving campaigns to cultivate new donors, convert existing supporters from once off donations to regular givers and inspire donors to increase their current support.

Design and deliver our annual major donor giving programme. Cultivate, communicate and inspire new major donors to join us with the aim of increasing our current major donor pool by 10%. Steward current donors, keep in touch, craft compelling asks to support their progression towards more frequent or higher-value donations.

Report monthly to the CEO on the success of campaigns and programming, income raised, number of new supporters/followers, conversion rates, offering insight on ROI, learnings and how we will incorporate this learning to improve how we do things in future.
Fundraising compliance:

Save all profiles, donations, giving history, gift aid agreements, correspondence, and communications with supporters on CNK CRM database. Uphold GDPR and comply with fundraising best practice.
US Individual Giving Programme:
-
Contribute towards developing a new US individual giving portfolio through prospect research and crafting compelling fundraising asks.
Staff & Volunteer Management:
-
Create and manage a volunteer fundraising programme to grow individual giving through community events, social media and awareness raising.
The role has no direct line reports at present but there may be in future, budget permitting
Essential skills and experience:
You will have at least five, ideally eight, years experience of:

individual giving fundraising for a small charity, with a track record of developing and delivering successful individual giving campaigns that have generated 5 figure sums

building a supporter base - both amongst low value, but also mid level and major donors
-
gathering information, case studies, data and finances, distilling and crafting high quality, well articulated compelling funding asks

growing charity brand and positioning, thorough consistent approach, campaigns, asks,use of language and artwork

digital marketing including social media, email marketing, and website content management

designing tools, inputting data and keeping CRM software updated, using data analytics to report on donor journey and drive fundraising decisions

10 Windsor Walk (10WW) is a Community Interest Company established by local therapists concerned to address the provision of intensive psychological services for those most in need.
We meet the needs of local psychoanalysts, psychotherapists and the local community by providing psychotherapy treatment rooms and space for training and events related to developing psychotherapy services.
More than this, we are a hub where therapists and psychoanalysts can meet, work together and exchange ideas on developing the practice as a whole.
- Affordable treatment: We run low- and no-fee psychotherapy for those in need in the local community, alongside Trainees from the Institute of Psychoanalysis who offer low fee psychoanalysis.

About the role
Weʼre seeking a Development Coordinator with a strong background in successful grant writing and funder relationship management. This role will focus on researching and securing grant funding. We aim to make our programs a model for the highest global standards and to cultivate power and lasting change not just for our clients but for all people affected by humanitarian crises. To achieve that vision, the IRC’s Technical Excellence (TE) group, located within the Crisis Response, Recovery and Development (CRRD) Department, provides technical assistance to IRC’s country program staff and shares what we learn to influence policy and practice.
IRC’s Technical Excellence team is comprised of five teams or sector “Units” which have deep expertise in their respective fields: Education, Economic Wellbeing, Governance, Health, and Violence Prevention and Response, as well as teams which provide measurement and finance/grant management support. Technical teams are also matrixed with a team that focuses on the quality and content of cross-sectoral programming in emergency responses.
IRC’s Technical Excellence teams offer five core services to IRC country programs and the wider organization:
1. Program Design: We support country and regional teams to design state of the art programming, incorporating the best available evidence, cost data, and expertise of what has worked elsewhere, with the knowledge that country teams, partner organizations and our clients bring to the table.
2. Quality Assurance: We partner with our measurement teams to design and drive the use of indicators to measure progress towards outcomes; we partner with regional and country teams to review program delivery progress and help address implementation challenges and adapt interventions to changed circumstances.
3. Business Development: We partner within and outside the IRC to design winning bids and identify winning consortia; we deploy technical expertise in public events and private meetings to position IRC as a partner of choice.
4. Research & Learning: We partner with our research lab to design cutting edge research to fill evidence gaps, and with country teams to learn from implementation such that we continuously improve our future design and delivery.
5. External Influence: We showcase the IRC’s programs, technical insights and learning in order to influence and improve the humanitarian sector’s policy and practice.
Technical Excellence is currently going through a change process called "Regional and Technical Alignment." We are doing this to ensure that the impact of our programs and the influence of our ideas create meaningful change for people affected by crisis. This next phase of IRC's commitment to program quality will more deliberately resource and link global thought leadership with practice on the ground. Updated Technical Unit structures will have new roles with clearer mandates. The Global Practice Lead is a new leadership role introduced by this change process.
Economic Recovery and Development Technical Unit (ERD TU)
The ERD TU is a dynamic team of more than 30 professionals responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and monitoring of client-centered economic wellbeing (EWB) programs. These include, but not limited to, cash and voucher assistance (CVA), agricultural & climate-resilient livelihoods, financial inclusion, and employment (including self-employment) promotion across emergency, recovery and resilience programming contexts. The TU’s technical assistance to this wide variety of programs ensures quality and use of evidence-based practices; promotes innovation, diversity, equity, and inclusion; and drives data-based management and decision making, with a focus on promoting local partnerships, to achieve positive change in people’s lives.
Job Overview
The Global Practice Lead (GPL) in Agriculture and Food Systems (AFS) is the organizational leader for climate resilient agriculture and food systems programming for the Crisis Response, Recovery and Development (CRRD) department and is a core member of the ERD TU’s leadership team. They are responsible for devising and leading strategies to raise the quality, impact, and scale of IRC’s AFS programming.
The GPL will ensure the scope, quality and relevance of global technical standards, including the generation and promotion of evidence in their technical area. The GPL will closely collaborate with Regional Leads, Technical Advisors, and Technical Coordinators in promoting technical best practice in CRRD programming. They will facilitate TU-led and high-impact strategic business development by providing excellent technical insights and developing and maintaining strategic relationships and networks. In line with the Economic Wellbeing (EWB) strategy, the GPL will lead strategic planning for the AFS practice area. The GPL reports into the Senior Director, ERD TU, and will manage highly specialized agricultural and food systems experts/specialists to lead the generation and use of evidence and best practices in TU-led strategic projects.
Major Responsibilities
Strategy, Program Design and Business Development
• Act as the organizational leader for CRRD in AFS programming internally and externally
• Lead strategic direction and Delivery Planning for AFS programming in line with the EWB strategy
• Responsible for identifying global areas of programmatic risk in AFS programming and elevating issues to Regional Leads and TU leadership
• Collaborate with other GPLs (specifically the Nutrition GPL) to promote integrated program designs within ERD and across all IRC sectors that increase scale and deepen impact
• Lead Technical Unit led global business development for AFS programming and support strategic project level proposals
• Lead coordination with AMU to drive fundraising from Public and Institutional donors and with ER to drive fundraising from Private donors to meet strategic priorities related to AFS programming at IRC.
• Oversee TU-led strategic AFS awards, working closely with regional Technical Advisors as applicable and the Grant Operations and Analytics Team
• Line manage global agriculture and food systems specialists, TU-led Project Directors as applicable, and co-manage shared staff (e.g in Social Protection, and Anticipatory Action) with other GPLs.
Global Practice Implementation Support
• Responsible for drawing on evidence-based best practice to provide technical oversight of IRC’s global AFS technical standards, methodologies, and tools
• Accountable for the development of a limited number of high-value tools and methodologies to better integrate cross-cutting issues into AFS programs (e.g., gender equality, diversity and inclusion, climate adaptation, etc.).
• Accountable for establishing information and knowledge management systems that support Regional Leads and Technical Advisors stay up to date on global technical standards, methodologies, and tools
• Establish competency framework for AFS and work closely with Regional Leads to identify competency gaps and drive capacity strengthening
• Accountable for ensuring Technical Advisors and Technical Coordinators have the tools and resources that are needed to measure AFS programming
• Support Technical Advisors and Technical Coordinators with thorny technical problems, career planning support, and mentorship, as appropriate
Research, Data, Knowledge Management, and Organizational Learning
• Accountable for establishing and maintaining a Community of Practice and other channels for the AFS practice area to ensure pro-active and inclusive management with sustained learning, development, innovation, and best practice sharing
• Coordinate with Regional Leads and Technical Advisors to lift up program learning for cross-sharing and incorporation into global best practice
• Guide research and evidence use efforts for AFS, working closely with colleagues and leaders in Airbel, ERD TU, other technical units, and regional colleagues
• Provide technical inputs to AFS-specific MEAL tools and methodologies, and support data interpretation in learning routines
External Influence, Relationships and Representation
• Act as a key strategic advisor to Policy & Advocacy, Research & Innovation, and External Relations teams on advocacy campaigns and priority policy and practice shifts related to AFS programming
• Responsible for identification, development, and maintenance of strategic relationships and global partnerships with relevant stakeholders (e.g. donors, UN agencies, NGOs, research and educational institutions, private sector actors) in the AFS space.

This role will support the Head of Fundraising in leading the team responsible for securing donations from HNWIs, Charitable Trusts and corporate partners, to help to deliver activity across Ark schools and its range of ventures. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to play a pivotal role in delivering change for the 4.3 million children growing up in poverty. You will have a demonstrable track record in securing six figure and multi annual grants primarily from trusts, foundations and/or the National Lottery.
You will have the ability to work confidently as a creative and analytical problem solver, and a hands-on fundraiser. CPAG’s fundraised income has grown significantly, and the team raises nearly £3 million annually.
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of fundraising income generation, and leading and supporting a small fundraising team. You will be able to build and nurture relationships with funders, donors and other stakeholders, and have excellent communication skills.

Role Summary
As Head of Fundraising and Business Development, you will be responsible for implementing an effective fundraising and income generation strategy aligned to the objectives of our organisational Strategic plan and with a strong emphasis on partnership building and relationship management.
We exist to create lasting change for those who are marginalised and vulnerable, so you will need to be driven by the passion to see lives changed and help generate income to support more of this valuable work.
You will need to work effectively and confidently as our lead for both contract tenders and renewals and charitable fundraising and be experienced in helping develop a mixed model of income generation.
Ideally, we are looking for someone with high level demonstrable experience in business development and major contract tenders, bid writing and building corporate partnerships.

Business Development Objectives
• Take the lead on Business Development for the charity by ensuring processes and procedures for supporting us to bid for and secure public sector contracts are robust and effective.
• Work with the Chief Operating Officer and relevant Head of Service on identifying and securing contractual funding opportunities.
• Develop and write tender bids to support us to secure new contracts
• Actively develop and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders and partners, with a view to achieving Causeway’s strategic objectives for income generation
Fundraising Strategy & Objectives
• Create and implement an effective Fundraising Strategy for the charity that applies the right balance of fundraising mechanisms, e.g. trusts, foundations, corporate philanthropy, events, individual giving and major donors, to achieve our organisational objectives.
• Work to established Fundraising targets and goals, considering strategic change and approach where any risk of shortfall is identified, to enable the development of charitable activities in response to established need
• Work collaboratively with the Impact and Evaluation team to ensure that all approaches for funds are underpinned and informed by our commitment to survivor voice, accurate data and performance information that demonstrates the value of our work.
• Establish clear mechanisms and strategies for converting engaged supporters and stakeholders into sustainable revenue streams
• Identify key opportunities to leverage the organisational brand and vision for the purpose of engaging with new external stakeholders/supporters
• Manage the operational activities of the fundraising team ensuring the workload of the department is effectively delivered to a high-quality standard.

Management & Leadership

• Provide recommendations to the Board in how the charity strategically plans and prioritises fundraising activities and campaigns throughout the year, in order to meet organisational objectives
• Create and embed a fundraising culture within the team and across the organisation
• Coach and inspire your Fundraising Team, motivating them to achieve their individual and department objectives and supporting their development through formal and informal processes
Data/Reporting/Compliance
• Provide a quarterly report to the CEO/Board of Trustees on Business Development and Fundraising outcomes and performance against budgeted targets and KPIs, as well as insightful analysis into prospected income
• Track and provide detailed reporting on income, working in collaboration with the Finance Dept
• Ensure compliance with the Charity Commission and Fundraising Regulator Codes of Conduct and regulations
• Ensure best practice in Fundraising protocol and procedure, acting as the leading insight and voice into societal trends and challenges in the fundraising climate, and adjust organisational approach and strategy as required, to respond to changes and opportunities
• Create ways of working that maximise consistent and regular obtaining and analysis of supporter data, whilst ensuring compliance with GDPR legislation

Awards Management Unit (AMU)
The Pricing Advisor works within IRC’s Long Term Funding Team in the Business Development (BD) team of the Awards Management Unit. The BD Team leads IRC's public business development, working with country programs and technical units globally. The team raises funds to achieve IRC ambitious impact goals. Alongside a wide humanitarian funding portfolio, we prioritize growing ‘Long Term Funding’ through contracts and awards from priority donors, including USAID, FCDO, and other key multilateral and government donors.
Purpose of the Role
The Pricing Advisor serves as a budgeting expert and will be the pricing lead for many of IRC’s most important and large scale public funding opportunities.
The role provides essential guidance, technical assistance, quality assurance and hands-on support throughout the business development lifecycle, ensuring a delicate balance between cost recovery, risk mitigation, price competitiveness, and compliance with internal policies and donor regulations.
The Pricing Advisor specializes in working with IRC's ‘Long Term Funding Donors’ including USG, FCDO World Bank, GAVI and AFD. The Pricing Advisor may also be asked to work on opportunities for other donors in IRC’s portfolio, including European Union and other donors when required.
As a key member of proposal teams, this position collaborates closely with IRC Country Offices, Finance Department, and Technical Units to facilitate the development of cost proposals.
Responsibilities
Capture & Program Design
• Serve as the ‘Capture Pricing Lead’ to ensure IRC is well prepared to develop an effective budget proposal for important funding opportunities
• Conduct research and evaluation of cost drivers specific to each country to understand cost proposal development challenges and opportunities to improve pricing strategies within the predefined clients’ needs and regulations.
• Aggregate all available budgetary details at the activity level, encompassing all anticipated interventions and necessary support provisions, into clear rough estimates.
Pricing Strategy & Budget Development
• Lead Budget Development and/or provide quality assurance or backstopping for budgeting for major proposals.
• Review released solicitations to assess whether cost-related considerations might hinder the development of a competitive, compliant, and viable bid
• Provide pricing expertise to the donor budget proposal process to ensure proposals are of high quality; reflect the needs of the solicitation and include the necessary shared costs.
• Ensure the proposal team understands the financial requirements and donor regulations of the bid, by clearly communicating what is required and providing guidance and support as needed. Identify all key financial and commercial risks and proactively propose a tailored mitigation plan and adjustments as necessary.
• Drive and/or ensure that pricing inputs from IRC Country Offices, technical or other contributors are integrated effectively. Lead all aspects of detailed cost, and technical queries in anticipation of submission timelines.
• Maintain, expand and apply technical knowledge in USG, FCDO, World Bank and European Union by attending educational workshops and trainings, reviewing the latest donors’ regulations and policies and market trends
• Offer guidance and strategies for creating intricate budgets, presenting cost-related aspects efficiently and effectively, developing payment by results structures and fee payment schedules
• Develop comprehensive donor budgets in line with internal and external requirements, ensuring that all cost drivers are adequately considered, drawing input from different collaborators.
• Engage with and provide technical guidance to partners, and integrate all partner pricing inputs into the consolidated budget, budget narrative, and overall cost application
• When required, develop or adapt budget development tools, guidance and materials for existing and new donors and contractual mechanisms
• When required, conduct cost reviews of selected proposals
• Ensure adherence to IRC's standard processes and policies, as well as compliance with solicitation requirements and client policies across a variety of opportunities and donors.
Strategic Pricing and Capacity Building
• As a donor budgeting expert, the Pricing Advisor will be invited to contribute to wider organizational initiatives to improve pricing approaches and capacity in the organIzation. This may include, the development or review of pricing tools, templates or strategies.
• Support training and other capacity development initiatives to strengthen organizational donor pricing approaches
• Participate in learning initiatives, including After Action Reviews to ensure IRC continuously improves its pricing approaches.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
• Demonstrable experience developing cost proposals. Demonstrable experience developing cost proposals for grant and contract types including Payment by Results approaches and fee rate structures.
• Demonstrates in depth understanding of USG, FCDO or EU financial rules and regulations; is able to identify donor-specific risks and design cost proposals in a way that mitigates those risks.
