The Public Affairs Manager will be a key member of our busy External Affairs Team within the wider Policy and External Affairs directorate.

Reporting to the joint Heads of Public Affairs & Stakeholder Relations, and working closely with communications and public policy colleagues, you will play an essential role in enabling and driving engagement with parliamentary, government, political and sector stakeholders.

You will be politically astute, with experience engaging across Westminster and Whitehall with competent written and communication skills, able to both brief and prepare senior leaders within the organisation for key engagement activities as well as meeting stakeholders independently as appropriate.

Strong organisational, people and project management skills are essential; you will be responsible for managing dedicated key influencing ‘moments’ with stakeholders and partners, such as organising and managing panel events, roundtables, webinars and showcase programme visits. You will also lead the co-ordination and secretariat activity for the Youth Employment Group (YEG), working closely with the Director of Policy and External Affairs as one of the five co-chairs.

This role can be based at any of our hubs located in Birmingham, Leeds or London. We currently operate a hybrid model of two-days per week in the office and three-days from home.

To act as an enthusiastic ambassador for the charity; building strong relationships across a variety of networks to support and develop the public presence of the charity and community fundraising income. The role may involve evening and weekend working to support community fundraising activities and events, and working hours are flexible to reflect this.

Key Duties

Fundraising:

• Be the primary point of contact for new and existing supporters.
• Proactively look for opportunities to support and develop local fundraising initiatives.
• Develop and deliver a varied range of fundraising activities to a range of audiences, including events and campaigns.
• Act as an ambassador for the charity with local community groups and organisations.
• Work with the wider team to develop relationships with local businesses and corporate partners.
• Work to set targets and generate income. Work with the wider team to recruit and support local fundraising volunteers.
• Maintain up to date records of communication with funders; income generated and how this compares to budget.
• Keep up to date with the latest fundraising trends, regulations and news.

Marketing & Communications:

• Develop the charity’s public presence and brand.
• Produce marketing materials to represent the charity and its projects, including online newsletters, print media and merchandise.
• Manage the charity’s digital content including social media channels and website.
• Support with e-commerce and support the enterprise team to maximise opportunities.
• Represent the organisation at networking events, meetings and other outside events, as necessary.

Other:

• Supporting other members of the team to deliver activities; including, but not limited to, activity days and evening clubs.
• To help develop new and innovative ideas to help our target groups and meet our charitable objectives.
• To carry out any other duties within the general scope of the post, as directed by your line manager/the Co-Directors.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Have a sound education to A-level standard or equivalent.

Experience:

• Experience of supporting community fundraisers; have a good understanding of community and events fundraising and supporter care.
• Experience of developing marketing materials in a variety of mediums.
• Be adept in using a variety of social media channels and platforms.

Skills:

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to represent the charity in a variety of settings.
• Be able to prioritise and demonstrate excellent planning, organisational and time management skills.
• Excellent IT skills in a variety of website platforms and applications which should include Microsoft Office, Wix and WordPress.

We are recruiting a high energy and hands on Garden Manager to work closely with the Senior Leadership team at Sufra to support the development and expansion of the community garden, and manage the team of garden staff and volunteers. About the role

We’re looking for an Executive assistant with excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to join our CEO Office.

In this role, the successful applicant will provide proactive and efficient administrative support to the Directors of Young Lives vs Cancer. Their responsibilities will include managing complex diaries, coordinating travel and meetings, maintaining documentation systems, and supporting governance and leadership functions. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the senior leadership team, allowing them to focus on delivering the charity’s mission and strategic priorities.

While this position does not involve direct line management, it does require close collaboration with the CEO office and a wide range of individuals in the organisation, acting as a key liaison between the Directors and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, discreet, and confident in managing sensitive information. Strong communication skills, technological proficiency, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset are essential.

What will I be doing?

We are recruiting an experienced horticultural consultant who is passionate about involving the community in growing plants and seasonal produce. The Community Gardener will support with the planting and harvesting of fresh, seasonal and organic produce over the busy growing season over the Summer months. The consultant will support with providing volunteers, residents and families to understand the practicalities of gardening and horticultural practices.

You will be responsible for planning and facilitating educational workshops, leading volunteers, coordinating the weekly garden market and helping to maintain the garden over the summer period. These workshops and sessions will focus on teaching basic gardening skills, with an emphasis on plant cultivation and habitat development. Transforming Lives for Good (TLG) are a national Christian charity working in partnership with local churches to bring struggling children hope and a future. Building on the huge success of TLG Early Intervention Coaching, TLG Therapeutic Support will be a new way for TLG, with partner churches, to provide support in school for the increasing number of pupils struggling to cope due to their emotional, relational, and mental health experiences. This programme addresses the underlying issues children are facing, whilst also providing the option of direct support to their parents/carers and the school staff team.

In this role we are looking for individuals that thrive working with children and young people in a school context and are passionate about supporting pupils and their families struggling with emotional, relational, and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will hold an accredited coaching qualification and have an aptitude for creativity whether this is music and drama, sport and outdoor recreation or other fields of kinaesthetic development. The TLG Therapeutic Coach will be present each week in the school, providing specialist trauma aware care for these children, whilst supporting staff and parents/carers too, so we're looking for an individual who can build and foster strong relationships.

About the role

We’re looking for a Fundraising Engagement Manager with great personality and team ethic to join our Regional Fundraising team.

This is a role of variety, opportunity and innovation, and we are looking for someone who embraces change and constantly strives to achieve more.

You will maximise income for Young Live vs Cancer by coaching our supporters to reach their goals, whilst seeking out new fundraising opportunities for your geographical area. This role sits within the ‘Regional Engagement’ team and we need someone with natural customer service skills who wants to deliver a legendary experience to all of their supporters. Your team of supporters will range from volunteers and individuals, to groups and local corporates.

We are lucky enough to have some of our most committed supporters in the area, but there is still so much opportunity to grow support across the counties. You will have an incredible opportunity to build relationships with not only those who have been supported by the charity, but our incredible services team members who support children and young people treated out of University College Hospital and Great Ormond Street hospital.

The successful candidate will be responsible for securing income to support our mission and charitable objectives while supporting the commercial development of our Journalism Skills Academy and our awarding organisation. This senior leadership role requires a proactive and strategic individual with an appreciation of the business and media landscape and the ability to cultivate and manage high-value relationships.

The head of business development will have two direct management reports: our fundraising manager and our Journalism Skills Academy manager.

The responsibilities of this role cover business growth, sales and revenue generation, commercial partnerships, industry engagement, strategic leadership and operational management.
