Who we are looking for:
We are seeking a person located in or close to Greater London, and willing to travel across the South East of England who possesses the drive, passion, and skills to:
- Establish new Peer Support Groups across a diverse range of communities
- Supervise a small team of Peer Support Development Officers
- Demonstrate the energy and enthusiasm required to inspire yourself and your team to achieve key targets and objectives
- Work collaboratively within the Peer Support and Community Team, as well as throughout the broader organisation, to ensure the delivery of safe and effective support services for the kinship community
- Maintain current Peer Support Groups, taking the lead from the national Hub

In the role of Senior Peer Support Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality, consistent, and sustainable peer support service that has a significant impact on the lives of kinship carers.
You should have experience in developing and maintaining meaningful relationships with various community-based stakeholders such as local authorities, health services, schools, charities, and kinship carers. You will need to understand the key success factors involved in establishing and developing new in-person groups in areas of high need, as well as how to support existing groups in their journey toward sustainability.
As a practical thinker, you will work creatively to identify stakeholders and assets in areas of high need. You will build local connections and bring together kinship carers across the region, empowering them to build resilient and robust peer support communities.
You will be confident in building relationships that generate referrals from external stakeholders and in contacting kinship carers directly to secure engagement with local coffee mornings, community, and training events that will help kick-start a thriving peer support group.
As you establish new groups, you will provide training to help them lead their groups effectively, and develop a healthy group culture, resilience, and skills to function independently while offering reassurance and support to empower them.
You will be an inspirational and energetic team leader with experience in providing day-to-day line management and operational support for a small team.
We are ideally looking for candidates based in or around Greater London and willing to work initially across the London Boroughs and into the South East of England. This role may involve work to establish groups on the periphery of this area that currently have no dedicated Development staff.
An essential requirement of the role is to be a driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Key responsibilities:
Service delivery:
- In person (face-to-face) strategic outreach into local and regional communities including setting up and attending local engagement events
- Work creatively to set up and develop new sustainable in peer support groups, attending up to six sessions in person (if needed) before transition to self-sufficiency. Existing groups that are at risk, closed or need support will need replacing or rejuvenating to maintain DfE service level agreements across the team, in addition to the development of new groups
- Recruit and retain support group leaders to develop their peer support groups
- Deliver training to support group leaders (group roles and responsibilities, safeguarding, setting up, running, and promoting a group)
- Develop strong boundaries and positive relationships with support group leaders – building resilience, empowerment, and community
- Support established groups in your area to access support group leader networks and training (this includes visiting groups in person) to build a peer community
- Help develop and deliver a service blueprint for sustainable peer support groups, thinking strategically about how to develop groups
- You'll collaborate closely with the ‘Hub’ team to provide a joined-up and positive user experience for kinship carers. This collaborative approach is key to our success and ensures that kinship carers receive the best possible support
- Manage special interest groups and regional online groups as required, transitioning to ‘Hub’ team for sustainability and work with partners
Service quality, development and data management:
- Accurately record all recruitment, contact information and volunteer case management in Salesforce in line with service framework and data protection requirements
- Ensure accurate data entry in Salesforce to support service performance, evaluation and learning
- Provide regular reports to ensure targets and SLA are met for the service.
- Support continuous development and improvement of the service (new systems and processes) as required
Management and supervision:
- Inspire, motivate and be responsible for day-to-day line management and supervising up to 4 staff members

Legacy Relationship Officer

The Role
The team are determined to increase the prominence of legacies both internally and externally in order to grow and protect this important income stream, which accounts for over half of donated income.
To be successful in this role, you will be an exceptional team player, a strong communicator and an excellent relationship builder. Background and purpose
Metabolic Support UK (MSUK) is the umbrella patient organisation for people living with and affected by Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMDs). We are a UK-based organisation with an international reach. There are approximately 40,000 people in the UK living with one of around 1,500 IMDs. Globally an estimated 71, 260 people are born with these conditions each year and 1.43 million people live with IMDs worldwide.
IMDs are rare, lifelong genetic disorders that affect people in a variety of ways including lifestyle, lifespan, diet and medication needs and symptoms. Sadly, some disorders can cause irreversible complications or death.
Since our inception in 1981, we have been at the forefront of rare disease community development; as a founding member of EURORDIS, expanding newborn screening, accelerating the development of IMD treatments, and empowering our community through the Living Well Movement.We enable our inherited metabolic disorder community to live well by offering individual support, building connections, and developing evidence-based insight.
The role
MSUK is looking to recruit a dynamic, ambitious and confident Fundraising Manager to work with the Chief Executive to develop and implement our income strategy. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fundraising Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will be a core member of the team, developing and delivering the income stream for the charity with fundraising strategies that support MSUK’s mission. The role will report to the Chief Executive and will be responsible for driving forward all aspects of fundraising, including building corporate partnerships, individual giving, major donors, trusts and foundations, legacies and community. The MSUK team is a small but agile team and we expect the successful candidate to be a self-starter with a “can do” attitude, lots of energy and an ability to work autonomously. This is an exciting opportunity to join an exciting and progressive charity and to work with a fun, committed and established team.
Please note this is a remote working position but candidates will need to live permanently in the UK be able to travel to Manchester/Midlands for regular team meetings and across the UK at short notice for community events and meetings.
Main Responsibilities:
Fundraising Management and Development

Work with the Chief Executive to develop and implement a balanced and realistic fundraising strategy, which builds on MSUK strengths and maximises income for the charity.

Deliver an integrated fundraising programme, which includes corporate partnerships, individual giving, major donors, trusts and foundations, legacies, community and events.

Ensure all fundraising activity is compliant with GDPR and relevant fundraising regulation and that all data is accurate and maintained efficiently.

To maintain and develop the donor CRM platform (currently Nutshell) including building supporter journeys to enhance donor experiences and maximise income for the charity.

Provide up to date funding reports and fundraising forecasts for the board

Work with the team to ensure that all opportunities to promote MSUK and develop our fundraising and supporter engagement experiences are explored and maximised.

With the CEO, manage all aspects of finance and reporting relating to fundraising, including annual budgets, monthly reporting and re-forecasting. Provide monthly reports and updates on all fundraising activities and income streams

Work with the communications team, internal colleagues and external stakeholders to create impactful storytelling and supporter engagement opportunities to maximise revenue streams.

Required experience and skills

Proven experience working in a charity with responsibility for income

Experience developing and managing a diverse fundraising portfolio with significant expertise in at least one of charitable trusts and grants, corporate partnerships and major donors

Experience of managing fundraising budgets and ability to make informed forecasts
about income and return on investment

Experience of effective time management, working to tight deadlines and prioritising conflicting priorities successfully

Experience in managing successful cross-functional relationships, internally and externally
Skills & Attributes

Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to organise and present information clearly and adapt communication to a variety of audiences

The Talent Set is delighted to be partnering Pets as Therapy (PAT) to recruit a Head of Fundraising, who will play a pivotal role in delivering the new fundraising strategy and increasing income to £1.7 million.
PAT is a UK-wide charity that inspires and enables volunteers to share the joy of their pets. Every day over 4,000 people in hospitals, care homes or schools get to meet a PAT Dog or Cat. That brief visit brings the comfort and joy that only a pet can give. Over the past few years, income has increased from circa £600k to circa £1.5 million. They are now looking to diversify their income portfolio, reaching new audiences and ensuring long term, sustainable income.
This new role of Head of Fundraising, reporting to the CEO, will lead PAT’s fundraising and marketing work. Alongside implementing the fundraising strategy for PAT, you will personally lead the individual giving program. The post holder will also be a member of the PAT SMT (Senior Management Team).
Key Responsibilities:
- Grow income through implementing the new fundraising strategy
- Diversify income streams to give sustainable growth
- Build the capability and capacity of the fundraising team, currently 3 direct reports
- Develop a program of individual giving
- Increase the profile and awareness of PAT
Key experience:
- Managing small, high performing teams
- Expertise of developing an individual giving program
- Developing and implementing campaigns, appeals and events
- Relevant experience of supporter journeys and data capture in CRM, ideally Salesforce
- Budget setting and budget management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good understanding of GDPR, fundraising regulations and best practice
