About the role
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Trusts & Foundations specialist to expand EngineeringUK’s relationships in this field and develop grant-funding as a core income stream for our work. We receive significant funding from grant funders already but are looking to scale this income stream. This gives the successful candidate the opportunity to have an early impact and have influence over the direction of our strategy for grant-funding.
Whilst this is currently the sole role focusing on this area, you would be supported by the Director of Business Development & Partnerships and the Chief Executive, both of whom have experience in this type of fundraising. Senior level engagement and support means we can be flexible to the level of experience of the successful candidate, making this role a great opportunity for an experienced Manager wanting to take ownership of a strategy, or for a Specialist looking to take their next step and develop their strategic skills.
The Trusts & Foundations Manager role will be part of the Business & Industry team (11 people), who have responsibility for all funding and industry relationships across EngineeringUK. The team works strategically with stakeholders across the engineering, technology and education sectors, to support our mission to increase the number and diversity of young people choosing engineering and technology careers. Opportunities for funding include our bursary programme, in-school programmes such as EnergyQuest and Climate Schools, Big Bang Programme, supporting our community of Code signatories, and developing new programmes.
Once funding is secured, the postholder will account manage the relationship and see the project through to contract-end. Therefore, in addition to being able to secure new funding, interest in and experience of delivering excellent account management is essential.
Whilst the core focus of the role will be on developing relationships with trusts & foundations, there may also be some opportunities to explore key relationships we hold in government, particularly for some larger projects we have on the horizon.
The role is London based at our office at 10 Lower Thames Street, London EC3R 6EN and may involve some travel in the UK. We believe that hybrid working has many benefits and are pleased to offer flexible working with a baseline of 2 days (or 40%) a week in our vibrant central London office overlooking the Thames. Essential Skills / Competencies
- Experience of identifying, securing and delivering grant-funding from trusts, foundations and/or government.
- Good understanding of the grant-giving environment, with the ability to quickly identify the spaces and conversations your organisation should be engaging in.
- Experience of building and prioritising a pipeline.
- Confidence securing introductions to new people and organisations in-person, virtually, and through written correspondence.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to condense detailed information and present it in a compelling and persuasive way for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent relationship management skills, with the ability to quickly build rapport, understand, and respond to the needs of both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong record keeping, with experience of using a CRM for maintaining records and reporting.
- Ability to understand and present financial information for a funder.
- Ability to make decisions quickly and aptly with minimal supervision, whilst consulting as widely as appropriate when the situation warrants it and/or in line with organisational ways of working.

PELICAN PARCELS FUNDRAISING MANAGER
Role: Fundraising Manager

Contract: Permanent. PAYE.
Salary: £21,000 per annum (£35,000 FTE)
Holidays: pro rata 20 days annually plus bank holidays, plus Christmas office closure e.g., in 2025 this will be an extra 4 days

Location: This role will work in a hybrid way. We are based in a warehouse in the centre of Hove, next to Hove Station and expect you to be able to come to the office once a week.
Hours: part-time 3 days a week. We are flexible about working patterns within the week (agreed 1 month in advance). There will be the possibility of working outside standard hours when agreed in advance e.g. open warehouse event, donor cultivation, community fundraising events.

ABOUT US
Pelican Parcels (PP) works in Brighton & Hove to recycle pre-loved essential items for babies and primary school aged children. We take them from families who no longer need them and give them to those who do. We are the only baby bank in the city. In 5 years, we have supported over 20,000 children aged 0-12 as well as pregnant mothers, reflecting the high level of need and deprivation in our city.
In 2023 our 5,774 parcels (an increase of 136% in the last 3 years)

Beds: we give out moses baskets, cots & single beds, blanket & sleeping bag sets & bedding bundles. We are giving out over 5 beds a week.

Books: in November we began supporting nurseries to give out books to pre-school children, supplying 248 books.
We collect items, receive referrals and distribute them to those in need

Collect: We have regular open sessions where people drop off items. Our 29 volunteers sort and organise donations ready for redistribution.

Referral: Once referrals and requests for items are received from partners, our volunteers process and package them.

Distribution: Our parcels are distributed by our partners at scheduled visits, through children's centres, foodbanks, schools and charity networks. Partners collect the parcels from our warehouse or we take them to their places of work.

Our Fundraising Plans
Funding has been achieved so far from diverse sources including Brighton and Hove City Council, individuals (from a few pounds to thousands), a range of trusts and foundations and companies.
We now wish to grow our fundraising programme in response to the demand we are seeing to help more families.
Our income has continued to grow. In 2022/2023 income was £90k, up from £38k in just 2 years. We raised £190k in 2023/2024 and have already raised over £220k for 2024/25.
We know we need to continue to grow to meet demand for our service. We need a bigger warehouse (we have plans to move in early 2025) and additional staff soon afterwards. We have built up reserves to support 3 months of operations costs and the warehouse move of £117k.
We plan to grow our turnover to £250k by 2026/2027. We have already secured 25% of what is needed for 25/26 and 20% for 26/27.
ROLE BACKGROUND
Our trustees Carla Pannett and Lucy Stone take the lead on fundraising for the Charity. Carla and Lucy will continue to support this work and role.
Lucy leads on Trusts and Foundation relationships alongside Brighton and Hove City Council funding applications. We feel confident with our level of work and growth in these areas. We have a number of multiple year funders confirmed, a range of funders who fund annually following applications and a pipeline of new trusts.
Carla leads on corporate partnerships, individual giving, community and events fundraising. We believe there is more growth possible here which is why the role will focus heavily in these areas. One-off and regular donations continue to be made.
We have just completed a crowdfunding campaign in August 2024. £42,198 + Gift Aid (so far) has been raised during the ‘Children in Brighton & Hove need your help’ crowdfunder. It has been a smashing success due to 192 supporters, raising our profile across the city and beyond. This was a mix of trusts and foundation, individual and corporate giving. We want to ensure that we make the most of relationships developed during the crowdfunder.

Principal Accountabilities

Job Purpose
The Head of Donations, Grants & Sponsorship (DGS) works closely with the Exec Team to develop and deliver the charity’s income generation strategy in support of current and future plans. The role is responsible for building a sustainable income platform, and managing the charity’s fundraising activities including environmental issues, social issues, and corporate governance. This includes developing innovative income generating approaches, engaging supporters, and shaping future fundraising efforts as the charity grows and develops. The output of this role will be the creation and management of sustainable funding streams to support the existing plans and ambitions for growth.
Main Responsibilities
Strategy development and delivery
● Prepare and deliver a long-term income generating strategy and comprehensive annual plans, covering all income streams (less commercial trading), including but not limited to trusts, philanthropy, corporate and individual giving, grants, sponsorship, and legacies.
● Plan and deliver activity that ensures annual income targets are met.
● Co-ordinate and manage income generation activity, including community, trust, corporate, major/ HNW donor and digital fundraising across the charity.
● Work closely with others to ensure that fundraising is integrated effectively with other areas of the Charity’s work, and that there is effective synergy between fundraising and other outputs.
● Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the law and governance surrounding fundraising and communications activities and ensure that any fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation at all times, including contract compliance, GDPR, Fundraising Regulator and Insurance requirements.
Donors/ Grants/ Sponsors
● Be responsible for the stewardship of all key supporters and donors, as agreed with the Exec team and incompliance with GDPR regulation.:
● Regular communication and engagement
● Developing a donor recognition policy and programme, and donor engagement events
● Developing and managing high-profile partnerships, including trusts, corporate and major supporters
● Manage and improve systems and processes for record keeping and reporting on sponsor/ donor relationships (within an appropriate CRM system).

Essential Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience
● Knowledge and experience of multiple fundraising channels, including major donor, corporate and community fundraising.

About the role
The Schools Triathlon is a mass-participation sporting event for young people aged 7-13. Its aim is to encourage more young people into sport whilst also teaching them the importance of fundraising. In 2024, over 10,000 young people took part across ten different events and raised over £1.2 million for Restless Development.
As the Fundraising Events Coordinator you’ll be part of the team delivering the Schools Triathlons. You’ll work with a wide range of stakeholders including our Schools Triathlon Committee, event venues and local schools, participants, volunteers and our events delivery partner. You will be leading two of the Schools Triathlons at Bryanston School and Bradfield School and will be responsible for delivering school assemblies to encourage pupils to participate in the event and fundraise for Restless Development.
Our Event Volunteers are key to the delivery of the Schools Triathlons so this role will be crucial in helping us to recruit sufficient volunteers for each event. You’ll use various recruitment methods to generate registrations and be able to use emails and phone to implement the stewardship journey. Alongside this we run a Duke of Edinburgh volunteer program which you will need to develop and lead on with selected Host Schools.
You’ll also be joining us at an exciting time as we launch a brand new portfolio of challenge events. With the support of the Senior Fundraising Manager, you’ll be managing the project plan including the marketing and stewardship so that we ensure participants reach their fundraising target and receive a first-class event experience with us.
The role will be a varied workload so you’ll have plenty of opportunities to gain skills in different areas. You’ll need to be able to hit the ground running, be calm under pressure and manage your time effectively with great interpersonal skills too.

Schools Triathlon Events
- Support in the event management of Schools Triathlon events

Challenge Events
- Lead on the project plan for our challenge events portfolio with support from the Senior Fundraising Manager.
- Set, monitor and report on the progress of event KPI’s and track fundraising for each event.
- Work with the wider team to plan and deliver marketing to ensure participants are being recruited.
- Plan and deliver an excellent stewardship journey for participants enabling them to reach their fundraising targets.
- Manage the relationship with our Challenge event partners including Run for Charity and Charity Challenge.
- Identify participant trends, improvement opportunities and help to ensure these events suit our audience and needs.
Systems, Processes & Communications
- Support the wider team with event comms responding in a timely and professional manner.
- Use DotDigtial to communicate to volunteers and event participants
- Competent use of Excel to process data and regularly update internal and external databases.
- Accurate and timely logging of information into Restless Development’s registration system Eventrac and CRM, Salesforce – executing mass imports, new individual records, and regularly cleaning data.
- Understand and manage fundraising using the digital fundraising platform, JustGiving, ensure all pages set up are logged on our CRM.
Other
- Must attend the Schools Triathlons as needed across April, May and June and other occasional evening and weekend work, for which time off in lieu will be given.
- Support on wider charity initiatives as and when needed
- Many of the schools we have relationships with are not accessible by public transport, so it is vital you have access to a reliable roadworthy vehicle. All travel will be reimbursed in accordance with Restless Development’s travel policy.

OVERVIEW
We currently have a small fundraising team that has been together since April 2023, consisting of a Partnerships Manager, a Trusts and Foundations Manager and an Events Co-ordinator. The new Interim Head of Fundraising will lead this team, including our Communications and Marketing Manager.
Our desire is not just to bring a person on board who will lead the team from behind the lines, but someone who will take full ownership of the fundraising targets and be the visible lead fundraiser of the charity.
We want someone who will effectively deliver year one of our new three-year fundraising and marketing strategy to achieve future planned growth. Key responsibilities will be:
Team Leadership
- Take ownership of the fundraising targets and ensure that they are met.

- Ensure continuous evaluation of all fundraising activity.

Relationship Generation and Stewardship

Size of Wales is looking to recruit an experienced and organised individual to strategically plan and implement all of Size of Wales’ communications whilst developing innovative ways to reach new audiences and maximise digital fundraising and marketing opportunities. This role will cover all areas of Size of Wales’ work. This includes tropical forest projects, education and advocacy.
The Role
The Communications and Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for the strategic planning and implementation of all of Size of Wales’ communications activities, including press and other media relations, campaigns, social media, website, newsletter, and videos. This will involve engaging with the Size of Wales team (around 13) and partners in Wales and countries overseas in South America, Africa and South-East Asia, to create inspiring and innovative content. Communication methods within the team are varied and include, for example, emails, virtual, hybrid or in-person meetings etc.
The digital fundraising element of the role will involve finding new and innovative ways to reach new audiences, increase supporters, and raise the profile of our campaigns and programmes, whilst exploring and maximising exciting digital fundraising opportunities. The role requires good Welsh language (oral and written).
The Communications and Digital Marketing Manager will, in collaboration with the education team, support the development of Size of Wales education resources and make them available to schools, teachers, young people and the general public. Working closely with the education team, the role will be to support the education programme engaging with communities and co-leading our annual awareness campaign. Scope of role
The Digital Engagement Officer plays a vital role in sharing our impact and connecting our work to new audiences. You will be responsible for the delivery of our email and social media campaigns and projects, our website and promotional marketing materials. Reporting into the Communications and PR Manager, your knowledge and analysis will help inform and shape the communications strategy for the charity to help drive us forward.

The role as Marketing and Fundraising Officer
As the Marketing and Fundraising Officer, you'll manage and deliver high-quality brand awareness and acquisition campaigns across a variety of channels, including TV, digital, and face-to-face. Your work will directly support the charity's mission, helping them to attract new donors, build awareness, and fund life-changing projects around the world.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead impactful marketing campaigns, from concept to execution, across multiple channels.
- Work closely with creative and media agencies to optimise campaign performance.
- Monitor campaign progress, analyse data, and implement strategies to boost engagement and conversion.
- Develop innovative approaches to increase brand awareness and donor acquisition.
- Collaborate with internal teams to create integrated campaigns and impactful supporter journeys.
