We are looking for a Family Support Worker to join our team and to make a difference in children's lives every single day. Location of work: Flexible. This post holder will be based at home but daily travel to schools or other establishments within your allocated local area will be required including some early morning breakfast visits. BACKGROUND
Magic Breakfast is a registered charity providing healthy breakfasts to children and young people in the UK who arrive at school too hungry to learn, and expert support to their schools. Over 200,000 children and young people are on roll at Primary, Secondary, ASL / Special Educational Needs Schools and Pupil Referral Units that the charity works with, in disadvantaged areas of Scotland and England. Providing breakfast ensures that children start their school day with the energy and nutrition they need to be able to make the most of their morning lessons. Magic Breakfast also undertakes research, and campaigns for long-term solutions to end hunger as a barrier to learning.

JOB PURPOSE
Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The Service Delivery team is responsible for ensuring the delivery of our breakfast provision. As Engagement Partner, you will work with relevant partners (schools, local authorities, parents, parent councils) to ensure that breakfast provision is optimized, encouraging reach and providing education on relevant topics.

Our Little Stars project for 0–12-year-olds has been established for over 5 years supporting younger members and their families with their diagnosis and beyond. We also have a growing Teen membership known as FIRE (Friendship, Independence, Resilience, Equality) Working alongside our multi skilled, established team, you will be supporting members across all age groups and building on the great foundations already in place.
We are looking for an Early Intervention Project Worker who can cover the South of England, primarily you will be home based, supporting members through phone calls and using online platforms. You will be required to attend clinics, events and meet members one to one where necessary within your allocated area and occasionally across wider areas and nationally.

4. Lead and facilitate groupwork programmes for parents such Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities and Child Overcoming Domestic Abuse.

6. To provide practical and emotional support to families or advocacy and signposting to specialist and universal services where appropriate.

With funding made available by Islington Council, we provide wraparound support in the form of orientation workshops; health and wellbeing; information relating to the asylum process; ESOL classes; social activities and befriending.

- Contribute to the prevention of future potential attempted suicide by promoting healthy attitudes to relationships, life, resilience, families and their communities and friendships
Role tasks:
- Provide early identification, intervention and support to CYP to prevent the development of negative health outcomes for children who have been affected by suicide. With a focus on identifiers such as poor school performance, decreased social adjustment and higher levels of stress, anxiety and depression.
- This service will have a pathway dedicated to working with children and young people that runs parallel to the core service. This will comprise of:
- • Immediate response following the suspected incident of suicide loss with a focus on supporting children and young persons around communication and addressing immediate issues of uncertainty, anxiety, anger and blame.
- • Deliver Group interventions and peer support focused on exploring reactions to death and suicide and strengthening coping skills for bereaved children.
- • Individual emotional and practical support and signposting to appropriate specialist services.
- • Coordination with other key stakeholders that may be involved in the care of the child or young person. This may include schools, community groups, GPs and other professionals.
- The service will be sensitive and adaptable to the child or young person’s communication style and ensure any support materials developed are relevant and age appropriate. Parents and carers will also need support to find the best words to share 11 information with children, ways of opening up conversations and how to respond to difficult questions.
- The service will provide support to education settings such as schools, colleges and universities located within NW London. Offer guidance on developing and implementing postvention protocols and procedures to be followed in the aftermath of a suicide in the community.
- This might include providing resources and support to affected students, staff, and parents, as well as facilitating open and honest communication about the incident. In addition, it will offer emotional and practical support and signposting for students and staff who may be experiencing grief and trauma related to the suicide loss.
- This can be done through individual or group sessions, which provide a safe space for individuals to express their emotions and receive guidance on coping strategies.
- Work within a whole family approach to supporting young people, facilitating clear pathways into relevant services and maintaining effective information sharing between services.
- Assess, manage, and review risks to children/young people (CYP), parents, colleagues, and self.
- Assess the needs of CYP and develop outcome focussed support plans using solution focussed, strength-based methods, in partnership with the CYP and, as appropriate, parent/carer, enabling them to increase feelings of safety and recover from their experiences of suicide postvention
- Implement and review support and risk management plans to ensure desired outcomes are achieved.
- Develop and deliver planned interventions to meet needs and improve outcomes for CYP and families, including tailored one to one support and group work.
- Deliver appropriate interventions for CYP relating to postvention suport
- Deliver programmes promoting safe relationships to prevent future experiences of abuse.
- Plan and implement activities to ensure the service is informed by the voices of CYP so we understand their needs and how we can improve our services.
- Work with colleagues to deliver an effective service in line with stakeholder needs, policies & procedures, and budget parameters.
- Ensure personal safety and that of CYP and other staff.
- Safeguard the health & welfare of CYP and their families.
- Work effectively in partnership with multiple statutory and voluntary agencies to enhance service delivery.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case management records and databases and contribute monitoring information for the service.
- Set up and facilitate various user led support groups
- Attend multi agency meetings to support work with families.
- Prepare and present reports where appropriate, including to support legal processes.
- Comply with data protection legislation, confidentiality and information sharing policy and procedures and all legislation connected to your work.
- Respect and value the diversity of the community and recognise the needs and concerns of a diverse range of individuals and families ensuring the service is accessible to all.
- Remain up-to-date and compliant with all relevant procedures, policies and codes of conduct, upholding standards of best practice.
- Enable service users to participate in the design, delivery, and evaluation of services
- Work in association with other professionals to deliver a holistic service to families living with the effects of suicide
- Accountable for and review own practice using supervision, reflective practice and other opportunities for continuous professional development.
- Promote the work of Mind and the issue of suicide postvention specific to young people
- Contribute to the formulation of operational policy and future development of services as a whole
- Such other duties as Managers or the Chief Operating Officer may from time to time reasonably require.

As an experienced manager of a youth team provision or experienced youth worker, you will be passionate about driving excellence and facilitating young people to develop their talents.

We are passionate about learning and development and committed to providing an outstanding experience for all staff. After completing your probation, we’ll enrol you on a Diploma programme and give you the time, support and incentives to succeed.
Practitioners typically work at least two 12-hr shifts pw, one 8hr shift, and attend team meetings, training, and group thinking space on Fridays from 9.30am to 12.30pm. The total number of working hours is 36 hrs pw. 4hrs per week are allocated to self-study to support the successful completion of your probation and, once enrolled, the Children and Young People’s Practitioner Diploma (Level 4).

We’re here to prevent children and young people becoming involved in violence. We do this by finding out what works and building a movement to put this knowledge into practice.
Absolutely central to this is designing, commissioning and managing complex and rigorous impact evaluations with experts in the field. The new government has an ambition to halve knife crime within a decade, and we’re anticipating opportunities to work with them to build evidence on new approaches to tackling violence involving children. About the Project
Hertfordshire Mind Network is proud to provide early intervention support to children and young people experiencing poor mental health across Hertfordshire. We provide a combination of support through psychoeducational workshops, open access, 1:1 and group support.
We are expanding our provision, to offer drop in, open access community support to 10–18-year-olds across the county who need someone to talk to about their mental health in that moment. This space will offer timely support, in a person-centred, trauma informed way.
The objectives of Hertfordshire Mind Network’s Herts Haven Café service are:
- To improve the mental wellbeing of children and young people experiencing mental health issues, including crisis presentations, in Hertfordshire.
- To provide drop in, no referral required, timely support to 10-18 year olds.
- To support children and young people in Hertfordshire to access community based mental health help.
- To increase early access to help for people experiencing mental health crisis in Hertfordshire, by providing a clear and effective pathway to services provided across the CYP MHS system.
About the Role:
The key purpose of this post is to be an integral member of staff delivering the Herts Haven Café service, facilitating drop-in mental health support for children and young people aged 10-18. As a practitioner you will meet the varying needs of the individual, as they present, meaning no day may look the same.
A person-centred approach will be maintained, and this role is pivotal to ensuring CYP have a warm and welcoming space to turn to. You will be working as a team to facilitate support, deliver brief mental health interventions, signposting, and ensure timely information, guidance and referrals are provided for ongoing support.
Key Responsibilities
- To play an integral role in instilling HMN’s values throughout the Herts Haven Cafe Service.
- To play a key part in the development and delivery of quality CYP mental health support services.
- To provide consistent and clear communication to the team, working proactively and with initiative.
- To be part of a cooperative and collaborative team that is flexible and adaptable to changing requirements.
- To deliver 1:1 and group interventions, depending on need, flexibly and creatively.
- To ensure that every individual accessing the service receives, safe and trusted support.
- To create and review risk assessments, wellness plans, crisis support plans, safety plans, as well as signposting resources, as required.
- To proactively recognise indicators of deteriorating mental health and facilitate appropriate action, whilst liaising with relevant agencies e.g., C-CATT, Emergency Duty Teams, CYP MHS, etc.
- To work alongside Crisis Teams in line with joint protocols, where required, to support those individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
- To signpost and refer effectively into other Herts Mind Network services, as well as alternative VCFSE and statutory organisations.
- To act as a positive role model showing professional and caring attitudes and behaviours towards other team members, children and young people, families/carers and professionals.

At the heart of this role you’ll hold Leadership Team level responsibility for the programme which provides opportunities, within a Christian sports centred setting and framework, for children, young people and young adults (with a priority on the more disadvantaged) to gain skills, experience, training and qualifications to increase their self-esteem, confidence and future employment opportunities. This will include responsibility for its ongoing development, leading its delivery approaches, training the Sport and Faith Team in its delivery, exploring opportunities related to the programme, monitoring and evaluating its impact and reporting this to stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who loves sport and understands how sport and movement is able to connect people and is passionate about sharing the Christian faith in innovative ways beyond the walls of traditional church. You’ll have experience in developing programmes and monitoring their successful achievement of stated objectives, and of investing in the leadership development potential of young people, ideally in a sporting context.
