Salary: Circa £75,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: Full-time with hybrid working arrangement; flexible working options available (minimum 4 days per week with at least 40% spent in the office).

This pivotal role within our charity ensures the effective management of our grant programmes, designs new programmes and initiatives, and determines funding needs to maximise our impact. Reporting directly to our CEO, the Director of Programmes & Funding works closely with internal and external stakeholders, including trustees, hospital partners, and other health funders. You will play a crucial role in developing and aligning our funding strategies with our mission to advance care for those affected by heart and lung diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic Funding & Programme development: Lead the design and development of funding programmes, working with hospital partners and external funders to identify and create new funding opportunities that align with our strategic goals and meet the needs of heart and lung patients.

• Senior Leadership Contribution: Provide leadership across the charity, contributing to organisational development, decision-making, and supporting the CEO in leading the charity’s strategic direction.

• Team Management: Lead the Grants team, overseeing the planning and management of workloads, and ensuring high standards of support and development within the team.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with trustees and hospital leadership, representing the charity in external meetings, and supporting the CEO in organisational leadership.

• Programme Oversight: Manage the charity’s grant processes, including strategic planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation, to ensure impactful and efficient funding.

• Governance & Compliance: Oversee risk management in relation to funding, and ensure our grant schemes are compliant with charity law, governance standards, public sector financial guidance, and our aim to achieve membership of the Association of Medical Research Charities

Summary of What We’re Looking For:

• Substantial experience in leading programmes and funding functions, within a relevant not-for-profit setting (eg hospital or healthcare charity).

• Proven ability in managing and reporting the impact of charitable programmes to senior stakeholders and boards / committees.

• Deep understanding of the healthcare context, including political context, research and innovation environments, partnered with an understanding of the charity landscape.

• Strong strategic thinking with excellent leadership skills and experience in managing and developing others.

• Educated to at least degree level in a relevant field (such as biomedical science) or equivalent relevant work experience.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and synthesise technical medical information to specialists and non-specialists.

The ideal candidate will hold an advanced degree (Masters or PhD) in biomedical sciences or a related field, complemented by proven experience in enhancing Programme and Funding operations within a relevant organisation. They would also demonstrate a track record of contributing to organisational strategy.

About the role: 

The successful applicant will work alongside our Trustees, our CEO and our existing Head of Fundraising and Communications in a jobshare to meet challenging fundraising targets. You will be joining us at an exciting time of development, as we open at our third site in Islington, welcome new members of staff to our team and begin work on a new strategy for 2025-2028. We have a strong track record of grant fundraising and seek someone who can support us to diversify our income, develop a fundraising strategy with a variety of income streams and bring experience and ideas to raise our profile. The Lead Instructor Role:

Job Summary 

The Safeguarding Administrator provides comprehensive administrative support for meetings and safeguarding activities to aid the smooth running of the safeguarding team. This role ensure that the safeguarding team provides a professional and friendly service to parishes within the Diocese of London, and to the London Diocesan Fund.

Job responsibilities 

Administrative support for meetings 

• Provide administrative support for the Safeguarding Leadership Team. 
• Produce high quality accurate minutes of team meetings and ensure they run smoothly. 

Administrative support for safeguarding activity 

• Work with the Safer Churches Programme Manager to provide day to day administrative support, working closely to ensure functions run smoothly.
• Work within national and diocesan safer churches policy and procedures as defined in the safer churches programme of work.
• Support the Safeguarding Advisors with safeguarding agreements and risk assessments as required.
• Provide effective administrative support, maintaining standards as required by the Diocese.

Training administration

This year, and every year, as many as 600 families in the UK will learn that their child has only half a working heart. These children have one of the most complex of all heart conditions, and there is no cure. Families in this situation need care and support to understand the information, make important treatment decisions, and meet the everyday challenges of living with half a heart can bring.

That is why Little Hearts Matter exists. We wrap a blanket of understanding and care around families at every stage of their half a heart journey. We are always here when they need us.

Without donations, Little Hearts Matter would not be able to offer our services, free of charge, to support individuals and families across the UK. We do not receive any government funding for our work. Our fundraising team is essential to raising these vital funds—over £440,000 annually. A better future for seriously ill children starts with you, our Fundraising Manager, within our three-person fundraising team.

In your first three months, you will get to know the charity well and figure out who our current supporters are. You will devise a plan for how you will use your experience to raise money, with a focus on building our challenge and events portfolio. You will also start building good relationships with key people inside and outside

Little Hearts Matter, including networking within the Birmingham and West Midlands business community.

By the end of your first year, you will have put your plan into action, continually improving it as you go. You will have built up our events and challenges portfolio, connected with donors, found new supporters, and tried out different ways to bring in funds and hit your target. You will have monitored your progress, using goals to measure success, and adjusting the plan when needed. About Little Hearts Matter

Little Hearts Matter (LHM) is a national charity with over 7000 members. We are the only charity in the UK that offers support and information to, and represents the needs of, children and families following a diagnosis of single ventricle heart disease (half a working heart). These congenital cardiac conditions can never be cured, even following repeated surgery, so the children must learn to live within the restrictions that their disability and fears for their future create.

Little Hearts Matter is there from the time parents learn of their child’s condition, through risk-filled treatment into a challenged-filled life at home. LHM is there to support the children, and their families, through their hopes and aspirations and the gradual realisation that they will never have the same life as their peers. Our aims are to:

Alleviate isolation by offering support, friendship and understanding from the time a diagnosis is made, through treatment decisions, hospital care and into life at home, eventually introducing parents and patients to other families who have similar experiences and shared concerns helping them to build a network of support.

Reduce fear by offering patients, parents, siblings, and the extended family a greater opportunity to understand the diagnosis and treatment paths available.

Reduce confusion and a lack of understanding by producing and supplying for free, user focused information that supports and aids understanding from the time of diagnosis, through treatments and into life at home.

Raise a greater awareness within Medical, Educational, Social and Governmental circles of the needs of children, and their families, as they travel through every stage of their lives.

Specific areas of responsibility

Working as part of the fundraising team, the Fundraising Manager will:  

• Be responsible for their own portfolio of supporters, maintaining and growing income, regularly forecasting income and expenditure against agreed targets (circa. £200,000+ annually)
• Proactively manage and grow relationships with diverse corporate and community supporters, delivering tailored propositions where appropriate, providing excellent relationship management to maximise their impact and long-term engagement.
• Build excellent working relationships with regional partners, supporters, and volunteers, to maximise the impact of their own fundraising and identify new opportunities through their networks.
• Develop and lead on exciting and engaging events, challenges and appeals to support the Fundraising team meeting its financial objectives.
• Work collaboratively with the Chief Executive, Head of Service and Grants Manager to ensure synergy in planning and delivery of income generation targets.
• Maintain accurate records of supporter interactions on the CRM system to deliver exceptional supporter experience and harness the value of data.
• Attend events, including out of hours working where necessary (compensated by Time in Lieu)
• Be a passionate ambassador for Little Hearts Matter, always maintaining the highest level of professionalism.
• Ensure all Fundraising activity complies with the Fundraising Code of Practice, GDPR guidelines, EDI principles, and other relevant regulations, guidance, and policies.

Lead a small team raising the resources and engaging with audiences to support the delivery of wide ranging services helping refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants to settle and thrive locally. You will deliver income and support by managing your own small team and collaborating with the rest of the organisation to tell stories, share information, build understanding and deliver the income needed to run the organisation. You’ll help deliver our Young Carers service across Havering, so a car driver is essential.

In this role, you will manage an existing caseload and new referrals, meeting with families and Young Carers to complete statutory assessments and create action plans. You‘ll provide support for Young Carers to reduce the impact of their caring role and improve their resilience, educational chances, and wellbeing, through signposting to local services, in-school support, one-to-one sessions, and workshops.

There will be opportunities to work closely with schools, Children’s Services and other agencies to raise awareness, identify hidden Young Carers, and ensure Young Carer needs are understood and acted on.

You will need to be confident, approachable and self-motivated, with the ability to quickly establish rapport with children and young people. Applicants should have relevant experience of working or volunteering in education, health or social care, or be looking to start a career working with children or young people.

This is a part-time role, ideally working Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (including occasional early evenings).

The charity delivers careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) services in ten prisons across Kent, Surrey and East Sussex; supporting prison residents during their stay in custody. 

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Careers Adviser to work at HMP Maidstone & HMP East Sutton Park . The purpose of this role is to provide residents with professional and impartial careers information, advice and guidance;  working with them to develop their motivation and work-related skills in order to enable then to move into employment, education, training, apprenticeship or volunteering on release. 

The role holder will also work with the prison staff to recruit, manage, mentor and support a caseload of peer mentors, delivering inspirational IAG and Employability programmes in both 1:1 and group sessions as required. 

The successful candidate will need to have: 

• An IAG qualification to level 4 or above (for a qualified post); 

• the ability to build effective and professional relationships with individual clients; 

• a non-judgemental attitude with a desire to support people to fulfil their full potential; 

• a high level of organisational skills with good time management.
