The Spear Assistant Coach will work as part of the River Church staff team, alongside the Centre Manager to deliver the Spear Programme, equipping and empowering 16-24 year olds to overcome barriers to employment and turn their lives around by moving into sustainable work or further education.
The important stuff
Salary: £24,375 pro-rata
Hours: 9.30am – 5.30pm, Tuesday – Friday, (Occasional evening working required (for events such as termly Spear Celebration evenings)

Key Responsibilities
Spear Programme
- Lead group sessions of up to 10 young people, using coaching skills to transform their mindsets, and to maximise their potential in stepping into the world of work.
- Prepare and deliver coaching sessions on a weekly basis and find creative ways of developing ongoing relationships with Spear trainees. This includes running application workshops with past trainees as well as maintaining records and reporting on statistics.
Relationship Management
- Build and manage relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including referrers, local businesses, and other organisations.
- You will support with job fairs, mock interview days and welcoming external visitors to the centre.
Church Community
- The Assistant Coach is directly employed by River Church, meaning you are part of a vibrant church staff team and submerged in an exciting faith community.
- Help to raise the profile of the Spear programme within River Church and build a network of supporters and volunteers from the congregation.
This role will suit you if you are:
- An active Christian, able to personally represent the values and beliefs of Resurgo and River Church, Ipswich.
- Passion for social justice and for working as part of the church to transform communities, especially supporting young people in employment or education.
- Confident communication and interpersonal skills, both over telephone and face to face; particularly a confidence in group facilitation.
- A commitment to grow and learn as a Christian leader, and a desire to learn and understand coaching techniques.
- An ambitious and self-motivated individual with the ability to prioritise workload, exercise initiative and work well under pressure.
- High emotional intelligence, a sense of humour and fun!

- This role requires occasional evening work, for our termly Spear Celebrations (where we celebrate our trainees as they complete the initial six weeks of the programme).

The role
With support from our Marketing and Communications Manager and wider team, you will play a vital role by creating, managing and optimising our digital communications, including the development, execution and measurement of email mailshots and campaigns, our social media channels, and our website.
You will be comfortable planning and devising email and social media content ideas, designing creative assets, writing sharp, engaging social media copy, and helping colleagues to grow their own social media presence.

Your experience
- Writing engaging and inspiring copy for various purposes and digital channels

This is a hybrid role. You will be working from home with IT provided and join Team Together Days in a co-working space in London 2-3 individual days each month. These days are considered commuting days. Are you a young Christian who is passionate about issues of justice and peace? Do you want to explore the intersection of faith, policy, and politics, and potentially pursue a career in one of these fields? The Joint Public Issues Team (JPIT) is recruiting to two full time paid internship positions: one focused on Communications (to start as soon as possible) and the other on supporting local churches to build relationships with their MPs (to start in September 2025).
You would be working as part of a small ecumenical team on a diverse range of tasks and initiatives including communications, policy, campaigning and supporter engagement, contributing to the public advocacy and political engagement work of the Baptist, Methodist and United Reformed Churches.
About JPIT
JPIT is a partnership between the Baptist Union of Great Britain, the Methodist Church and the United Reformed Church, and the Church of Scotland is an associate partner. Its purpose is to help the Churches to work together for peace and justice through listening, learning, praying, speaking and acting on public policy issues. It is a team which brings together around ten staff working across the denominations. In recent years it has focused on issues around poverty, the economy, refugees and migration, the environment, peace and conflict, and politics.
The Internships
These internships provide opportunities to develop skills in campaigning, communications, research, and policy within a dynamic team environment. There will be opportunities for professional and personal learning and development to equip the intern for further employment after their time on the internship. Whilst we are looking for some evidence of certain skills and experience, candidates will have the opportunity to develop relevant skills during their time in the role.
These are full time paid roles with fixed-term contracts to the end of August 2026, and a salary of £25,513 per annum (we are committed to paying at least the London Living Wage).
About You

We are recruiting for an Employment Worker to join a new Mental Health service in Tower Hamlets which brings together clinical and community services.
Experience of employment support is not essential, it is more important that you share our passion and commitment to supporting people to find the right job for them. You will receive training around employment support and in supporting people with mental health issues.
You need to have a desire to support people to achieve their employment goals, and the ability to multitask and manage your workload effectively. You must be willing to collaborate with the other service partners to achieve the best outcomes for our clients. Good organisation skills are essential for this role, in addition to an interest in mental health, and the role it plays in the workplace. Experience of pre-employment support such as CV and application writing, and interview practice is desirable.
The role we are recruiting for is as follows:
31.5 hours per week - can be worked as 4.5 days a week or 9 day fortnight.
You will work with clients (managing a caseload) who have mental health support needs, to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment in line with their preferences, to access training, education and volunteering opportunities. You will use a client led/person centred support approach.
You will also be working to targets whilst maintaining a high-quality service.

In 2024, Tower Hamlets received Trailblazer funding to develop and implement new models of community-based mental health care that integrate clinical and voluntary sector provision, in line with The Community Mental Health Framework.
The Tower Hamlets Mental Health Alliance (THMHA) was formed two years ago to create a bold new community-based mental health support service for Tower Hamlets residents. THMHA consists of 18 Voluntary, Community, Faith, and Social Enterprise Sector (VCFSE) service providers that have come together in partnership. The primary criterion for membership is that the organisation either specialises in mental health support or has a significant and growing focus on mental health in its work. Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham, and Redbridge is a member of this alliance.
Alongside THMHA members, Look Ahead, and East London Foundation Trust, we are implementing a new community-based, 24/7 mental health care system that prioritises the tailored needs of individuals facing mental health challenges. The goal is to provide support in a non-hospital setting, preventing the need for more intensive interventions in the future.
Your role will be to help deliver personalized interventions, helping individuals access the right services, by supporting them to set gaols and offering guidance to help them achieve their goals and aspirations.

Main Responsibilities
· Assisting the CEO and the Executive Team Members in the development and delivery of the Society’s many activities and projects to ensure all tasks are being completed within timelines, effectively and to high standards
· Supporting the Conferences and Events Manager in the development and running of an extensive programme of network events and workshops, and the Society’s annual conference
· Promoting the Society and its events on social media platforms including LinkedIn, Bluesky, and X
· Scheduling meetings, organising papers, and some note/minute taking, as required
· Ensuring all actions are recorded and completed following Meetings of the Board of Trustees and standing committee and working group meetings.
· Developing an understanding of the Society’s CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems and managing related data.
· Ensuring the SRHE website is kept up to date, in liaison with other team members
· Providing quality customer service for members and external contacts
Qualifications, skills and experience
You will need to demonstrate that you possess the following qualifications, skills and experience:
· Demonstrable experience in a team support role or an administrative assistant role
· Excellent organisation and administration skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Good numeracy skills
· Excellent knowledge/application of office IT systems (Microsoft Office: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
· Familiarity with website maintenance and basic website management
· Managing, maintaining and manipulating databases
· Preferred education is to undergraduate level with an interest in higher education provision
