Data Governance Manager

Contract: Permanent, Full time, 35 hours per week

Salary: £48,314- £50,729 with excellent benefits


Location: London, UK
Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in London office, or as a result of external engagement or travel for WaterAid. WaterAid is located at Canary Wharf, London and this will be your location and contract base.

About the Team:
The Data Governance Manager plays a key role within the newly formed Data and Analytics Team. This position works closely with the Data Protection Manager, Head of Global Cyber Security and data teams to implement and maintain a comprehensive data governance framework that supports WaterAid's data strategy.

About the Role:
The Data Governance Manager is a new role designed to complement our existing data management structure and will involve collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to align data governance initiatives with business objectives.

In this role, you will lead data governance activities, develop procedures and standards, and ensure adherence to data governance best practices.

You'll also:

  • Work with the Data Protection Manager to promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of data catalogues, metadata management and data lineage documentation.
  • Establish and monitor data quality metrics.
  • Implement data quality management processes to resolve data quality issues and ensure continuous improvement in data management practices.
  • Develop and deliver training programmes on data governance best practices.

About You:

  • Proven experience in a data governance or related role with demonstrated ability to develop and implement data governance frameworks.
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills with ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyse complex data issues and develop effective solutions.

Although not essential, we also prefer you to have:

  • Proficiency in SQL (structured query language) and Business Intelligence tools to analyse and present data.
  • Experience of managing data in a cloud environment.
