The Urban Tree Canopy Trainee will join our Urban Tree Canopy Coordinator at the forefront of involving local communities in our tree-planting & urban greening projects around the Glasgow City Region and engage people in taking action for trees and the environment.

Reporting to the Youth Engagement Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of our Trees for Climate Action (TfCA) project funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. The project aims to bring people together, creating opportunities for young people (up to 30). The project will deliver intergenerational, tree-related activities for young people to build their knowledge and learn new skills from environmental professionals and experienced volunteers, mobilising young people to take positive action against climate change. This opportunity will also support the ambitious Clyde Climate Forest (CCF) partnership initiative across the Glasgow City Region.

This role supports the Executive Director of Breathe Cities. As the Executive Assistant (EA), working alongside the Senior Executive Assistant and Support Manager, and CEO Office team, this role ensures the Director and their teams are supported to work efficiently and effectively and that team projects are facilitated to run smoothly. The Creative Minds Programme is a six-month initiative promoting mental health and well-being through creative activities like painting, music, writing, and more. Participants need no prior experience, just enthusiasm and a desire to improve their mental health.
Key Objectives include boosting confidence, fostering connections, enhancing life skills, and increasing participants' ability to manage their mental health and support others.
Now in its second year, the programme aims to support 864 adults over three years, with a focus on those with mental health challenges or feelings of loneliness. In addition to creative workshops, the programme offers leadership training to select participants, empowering them to become "Creative Agents." These agents lead "Creative Places" to engage the wider public in community-based creative activities.
The programme is set to conclude in March 2026, with two more rounds of activities still to come.
About the role
Our Creative Minds programme, funded by the National Lottery, is designed to enhance mental health and wellbeing for adults in West Kent through engaging in creative activities. These 24-week programmes are held in various locations across West Kent and are conducted in collaboration with professional artists, local arts organisations, and our Creative Agents, supported by the West Kent Mind community wellbeing team.
The programme leverages creativity to support mental health and wellbeing.
We are seeking an Independent Evaluator to assess the effectiveness of the Creative Minds Programme, a three-year initiative supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Following a successful first year, the evaluator will use various methodologies to evaluate:
Effectiveness and how well the programme met its objectives and outcomes to include but not limited to:
- Impact: Short- and long-term effects on clients' mental health and well-being.
- Accessibility and Inclusivity: Measures taken to ensure activities are accessible to all.
- Collaborators: Engagement levels among staff, volunteers, artists, clients, and partners.
- Public Outcomes: Community engagement with programme results.
- Challenges and Lessons Learned: Identification of challenges and strategies used, with insights for future projects.
Methodology will include a mixed approach using surveys, interviews, observations, case studies, and data analysis, including metrics from the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS).
Deliverables:
- Evaluation plan with data collection tools.
- Interim report (May 2025) with preliminary findings and adjustments.
- Final report (March 2026) detailing programme impact, challenges, and recommendations.
- Presentation of findings to the National Lottery Community Fund.
Who you are
All previous experience may be paid or voluntary, full or part-time, in the UK or overseas.

Terms and Conditions
Freelance Fee: An inclusive fee of £8000 (inc. VAT). The fee is inclusive of all expenses related to the successful candidate’s time, travel, data collection, analysis, and reporting.

We are seeking a highly experienced Trusts and Foundations fundraising consultant to spearhead the Trusts programme at Dreams Come True. As an excellent communicator, influencer, and relationship builder, you will have a proven track record of successful fundraising in this area: ideally securing between 6 and 7-figure gifts.

Job Title: Accountant (Charity sector)
Location: UK, remote
Annual fees: £12,000
Hours: 1 day per week on average

About Us
The Brazzaville Foundation (“the Foundation”) is a civil society and non-profit organisation registered by the England and Wales Charity Commission (registration number 1160693). It promotes and supports African initiatives in the following areas:
- conflict prevention and resolution missions with concrete actions such as the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Dakar 1 and the African Mediation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine;
- an environmental protection mission whose flagship actions include the assistance of the creation of the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin (signed in Oyo in 2016) and the support of “Elephant Protection Initiative” in favour of the fight against the ivory trade;
- a major multi-year, multi-disciplinary health initiative in the fight against fake and substandard medicines, which gave rise to the signing of the Lomé Initiative, a multi-country initiative aimed at combatting this scourge.
Role Overview
The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the foundation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with charity law, and supporting its mission through effective financial management.
You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making by senior staff and trustees.
Key Responsibilities
1. Bookkeeping
- Perform regular bookkeeping tasks in a timely manner including:
- Accounting for purchase invoices coding to the correct activity and account code;
- Accounting for income receipts to the correct fund – restricted or unrestricted and account code
- Monthly payroll – and journal to correct activity and account code;
- Monthly pension submissions;
- Accounting for direct card payments;
- bank reconciliations – sterling, Euro and other currencies;
- accounting for accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis;
- regular review of accounting transactions to ensure all transactions tracked correctly;
- proper knowledge and application of fund accounting.
2. Statutory Accounts
- Preparation of Statutory accounts to comply with Charity and Company law
- Preparation of backing documentation for audit purposes;
- Co-ordination with auditors during audit process to ensure necessary adjustments posited correctly where appropriate.
3. Finance Management
- Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure efficiency, stability, and good governance, including record-keeping to provide a clear audit trail.
- Conduct detailed analysis of different charitable activities and funds, managing both restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a timely manner, highlighting significant points and discussing them with senior staff and trustees.
- Monitor financial activity against specific projects and funding streams, providing regular updates and analysis.
- Conduct an annual review of internal controls to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience as an accountant in the charity sector or a similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of charity law, including handling restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in preparing financial reports for senior management and trustees.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software.
- Familiarity with the requirements of funders and the ability to monitor financial activity against specific funding streams.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with deadlines.
Working conditions
- Contract: Consultant contract with 3-month trial period.
- Remuneration: To be negotiated according to profile and experience.
