Facilitating effective connections and engagements that enable knowledge sharing and learning and specialist or peer support between partners, the national organisation, within regions and with outsourced support where appropriate.  

To be a subject matter expert on allocated local partners, gathering intelligence and disseminating appropriately, advocating on behalf of the network by working collaboratively across the team and division to give an amplified voice to partners within the national organisation and governance.

This is a home-based role for UK based candidates only.

There is a requirement to travel to Network partners across the UK as and when required. This may include overnight stays.

The Global Center is seeking an early/mid-career professional to support capacity development programming that advances equitable collaboration between civil society, government, private sector, and multilateral actors to realize a more just and secure world.

Working under the supervision of colleagues addressing cross-cutting thematic and geographic programs, the successful candidate has a demonstrated passion for human rights, security, and development and is keen to contribute their skills to a diverse range of programs.

The position will initially support Global Center programs on rehabilitation and reintegration of former terrorism offenders in Bangladesh and Indonesia, as well as other Global Center projects relating to countering the financing of terrorism and other related issues. As needed, other engagements may include work to empower civil society, advance justice and good governance, and influence national, regional, and international security policy and practice.

Working alongside staff in London, Nairobi, New York, or DC you will collaborate with international experts, project partners, and funders to develop and implement programs globally, including regular travel to countries of operation.

The Brazzaville Foundation (“the Foundation”) is a civil society and non-profit organisation registered by the England and Wales Charity Commission (registration number 1160693). It promotes and supports African initiatives in the following areas:

• conflict prevention and resolution missions with concrete actions such as the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Dakar 1 and the African Mediation in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine;
• an environmental protection mission whose flagship actions include the assistance of the creation of the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin (signed in Oyo in 2016) and the support of “Elephant Protection Initiative” in favour of the fight against the ivory trade;

Role Overview

The accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the foundation’s financial health, ensuring compliance with charity law, and supporting its mission through effective financial management.

You will be responsible for bookkeeping, financial management, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making by senior staff and trustees.

Key Responsibilities

1. Bookkeeping

• Perform regular bookkeeping tasks in a timely manner including:

- Accounting for purchase invoices coding to the correct activity and account code;
- Accounting for income receipts to the correct fund – restricted or unrestricted and account code
- Monthly payroll – and journal to correct activity and account code;
- Monthly pension submissions;
- Accounting for direct card payments;
- bank reconciliations – sterling, Euro and other currencies;
- accounting for accruals and prepayments on a monthly basis;
- regular review of accounting transactions to ensure all transactions tracked correctly;
- proper knowledge and application of fund accounting.

2. Statutory Accounts

• Preparation of Statutory accounts to comply with Charity and Company law
• Preparation of backing documentation for audit purposes;
• Co-ordination with auditors during audit process to ensure necessary adjustments posited correctly where appropriate.

3. Finance Management

• Implement and maintain financial controls to ensure efficiency, stability, and good governance, including record-keeping to provide a clear audit trail.
• Conduct detailed analysis of different charitable activities and funds, managing both restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts in a timely manner, highlighting significant points and discussing them with senior staff and trustees.
• Monitor financial activity against specific projects and funding streams, providing regular updates and analysis.
• Conduct an annual review of internal controls to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as an accountant in the charity sector or a similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of charity law, including handling restricted and unrestricted funds.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

Desirable Skills

• Experience in preparing financial reports for senior management and trustees.

• Proficiency in Xero accounting software.

• Familiarity with the requirements of funders and the ability to monitor financial activity against specific funding streams.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with deadlines.

As the Peer to Peer Groupwork Facilitator you will set up, lead and deliver a year-long peer to peer group programme for bereaved families who have experienced the sudden and unexpected death of a baby or young child.

The groupwork is based on a programme led by Harvard University and Boston’s Children’s hospital and has structured sessions drawing upon psychological model of CBT, although the sessions are not therapeutic. Each session has a theme and incorporates education, guidance and support.

You will establish and deliver a new peer online support group, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery and creating a safe and welcoming space for bereaved families.

Outside the group sessions you will be responsible for managing the administration and evaluation of the service, including and collection of questionnaires and feedback required for reporting purposes and supporting members with any signposting requirements processing referrals, carrying out eligibility screening, monitoring the waiting list and inputting and keeping all database member and service records up to date.

It is a key time to be joining the charity and helping us to continue to save babies’ lives and support bereaved families. The charity has been hugely successful, but the work is far from done. The impact of the sudden death of a baby is wide and never goes away, as we know from the families that we support. This drives all our work, across each department. We are a close and friendly staff team who all share passionately in the charity’s objectives, vision and values.

About the Role
As the HR Administrator you will build good relationships with the wider staff team and be a friendly and knowledgeable source of advice for all queries relating to employment, leave recording, recruitment and leaving processes. You will support the HR Manager with day to day tasks, such as collation of payroll materials, recruitment tracking and maintenance of staff files and records. As a key member of the team, you will be the primary user of many existing processes, and will be able to identify when and how systems need developing or updating to be more efficient.

You are passionate about people's wellbeing and understand that people work best when they are given the opportunity to do what they love and can be successful in. You appreciate order and logical systems and processes and are skilled at both using those systems and explaining them to others. Your role

We are seeking a Senior Fundraising Leader to secure funding from diverse sources to support our program and initiatives. The ideal candidate has senior-level fundraising experience at an NGO, organisation, or charity, a strong and established network of executive relationships in major foundations, and a proven track record of identifying and closing deals in the range of 1-5 million USD. The fundraising leader will develop relationships with potential donors, identify fundraising opportunities, and manage the grant application process.

We seek someone who aligns with the DfG mission, has a passion for fundraising and can strategise and deliver new initiatives. The fundraiser will collaborate with program staff, and senior management to develop leads, compelling proposals and reports. The working environment is informal, team-oriented, and encourages individual input and development. Thereby supporting the execution of DfG’s impact driven program to improve life through design. This position reports to the Managing Director of Design for Good.

Key Responsibilities

· Relationship Management: Build and nurture relationships with current and prospective donors, program officers, and key stakeholders, serving as the main point of contact for grant inquiries, reporting, and communications. 

· Research: Identify and explore funding opportunities from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other potential donors whose interests align with our programs. Regularly monitor donor databases and other sources for announcements and opportunities.

· Applications & Fundraising Development: Lead the creation of high-quality grant proposals and letters of inquiry in collaboration with program staff, ensuring they are compelling, well-structured, and tailored to donor priorities. 

· Compliance and Reporting: Ensure all grants meet donor regulations, reporting requirements, and deadlines. Prepare and submit timely, accurate reports highlighting achievements, challenges, and financial impact.

· Monitoring and Evaluation: Track the success of fundraising efforts, monitor progress toward revenue goals, and use data analysis to identify trends and inform strategy, providing regular updates and insights.

· Events, Networking, and Representation: Organize fundraising events and oversee volunteer and partner teams. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to foster collaboration and boost resource mobilization.

Key requirements

Who they’re looking for

Our client is seeking a treasurer to join them as a Trustee who is passionate about their vision, mission and values, to support the Board and team in achieving their charitable aims.

They are looking for an experienced treasurer to support the Board, CEO and Finance Director in the successful delivery of the charity’s financial responsibilities. This includes provision of advice, guidance, challenge and reassurance on all aspects of the charity’s financial activities, ensuring that their strategic plans are underpinned by robust and fit for purpose financial management. They are hoping to find someone who can also contribute to the overall strategic direction of the charity and who is also willing to be a voice and challenge on other issues/decisions taken by the charity whether about (e.g.) risk, scientific approach, grant giving, or fundraising etc. You should have a strong interest in the mission of our client and be willing to advocate on the charity’s behalf.

Previous experience of being a Trustee is not necessary as a full induction and ongoing support will be provided.

Board meetings and time commitment

The The Board ordinarily meets four times per year in March, May, August and November. Two of these meetings are held remotely via video call on a Saturday, and two are held in person in London across weekends. In addition, Trustees are encouraged to join a Committee relevant to their area of expertise which meets at least once per quarter via video call. An appropriate time commitment will be required over the course of the year for preparative work between meetings. Trustees are also invited to attend occasional charity events and join recruitment panels on an ad hoc basis.

Following a probationary period where Trustee-elects attend at least 2 board meetings, appointed Trustees serve a three-year term, with the option to renew for a further three years. Trusteeship is an unremunerated position, though reasonable out-of-pocket expenses will be paid.
