At our vibrant community centre in Halifax, we welcome refugees and people seeking asylum. Working across Calderdale with partners, we give people the practical support they need to rebuild their lives with dignity, and we offer a wide range of activities that help them feel happier and more connected.
We are a community of 22 staff (15 full-time equivalent), 150 volunteers, and over a thousand Centre Members from 86 countries. Our ‘Centre Members’ are people seeking sanctuary in Calderdale. 33% of our staff and trustees and 50% of our volunteers have lived experience of the asylum system; their insights and experiences shape what we do.

The role - your main responsibilities
- Provide clear leadership and strategic direction for the whole organisation, in collaboration with the Board of trustees, and with a spirit of positivity and possibility.
- Oversee the effective delivery of a diverse range of services, including immigration and asylum advice and a wide range of support and activities.
- Ensure the financial sustainability of the organisation including budgeting, monitoring and keeping the organisation well-funded and resourced.
- Work collaboratively, compassionately and effectively with trustees, staff, volunteers, Centre Members to inspire and lead an inclusive and enabling culture; including managing staff and overseeing all key processes and policies.

Operation Smile is a global nonprofit specialising in cleft surgery and care. Join Operation Smile UK as our Senior Acquisition Manager and make a difference in the lives of children. We're searching for a fundraising professional with experience in acquiring new donors through a variety of fundraising channels including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops. You'll be responsible for managing a £2.4 million budget and developing innovative strategies to increase individual cash and regular giving support.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and drive recruitment of regular givers and cash givers to grow income and supporter volumes, in a multi-channel programme including Door to Door (F2F), digital fundraising channels, DRTV, cold mailing and door drops.
- Manage relationships with agency partners executing acquisition campaigns on behalf of Operation Smile UK for the betterment of the acquisition programme.
- Lead and execute our door to door (F2F) programme with the goal of expanding this form of acquisition fundraising over the coming years.
- Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of OSUK's digital acquisition fundraising program, including the performance of current agencies and consultants. Develop strategic recommendations and a future-focused plan that leverages the expertise of existing or new external partners.
- Full campaign management and execution in line with prescribed deadlines. This includes briefing agencies, sourcing content, managing data, copy development, proofing, briefing stakeholders, training agents, developing campaign analysis and reporting, managing costs and invoice processing.
- Monitor and report on budgets and assist in building future expenditure and income targets. Work as part of the Individual Giving team to reach strategic targets.
- Work closely with the Communications & Digital team, and Individual Giving team to ensure campaigns are in line with brand standards and integrated seamlessly with supporter retention.
- Work closely with the Individual Giving team to constantly refine the newly introduced ‘welcome programme’ aimed at transitioning new donors to retained donors and improving retention rate.
- To work closely with the Senior Database Manager and agency partners to review direct marketing acquisition campaigns and ensure that information is used to maximise income for future campaigns.
- Collaborate with the Senior Database Manager to develop and implement essential Power BI dashboards. Proactively request ad-hoc data analysis to track key acquisition metrics and inform strategic decision-making.
- Introduce new acquisition channels and develop existing ones within KPIs to manage risk and keep fundraising up-to-date within evolving channels.
- To ensure that campaigns are where possible integrated or co-ordinated thematically, creatively and/or by target audience to maximise impact.
- To lead in the training of external agencies, effectively communicating the work of Operation Smile to key representatives.
- Travel to meetings in the UK and overseas where necessary.

The Bureau is the UK’s largest independent non-profit investigative journalism organisation. In the
last year, our investigations were published in over 100 countries across local, national,
international, specialist, TV and digital platforms. Our four global investigative teams work with
reporters around the world on priority cross-border issues – environment, health, corruption and
big tech. In addition, our UK-focused Bureau Local team uses an innovative community-led
approach to cover issues like insecure work, migrant rights and family courts, amplifying the voices

At the Bureau, our funders and supporters are vital. We are almost entirely funded through grants
and donations so – put simply – without their support, we wouldn’t be here.
Although our supporters may come from different backgrounds or have varied priorities, they all
share a common goal: tackling the issues across our society that are eroding democracy and
driving inequality. They support our work to hold those in power accountable, uncover new
evidence to support positive change, and empower citizens.
The Bureau has experienced significant growth over the past three years, increasing our annual
income to £2.8m and expanding to a team of more than 40 people. While the majority of our
income comes from grants, there is strong potential for further fundraising growth, and we are
actively working to diversify our funding streams beyond trusts and foundations.

Role and Responsibilities:
Support from trusts and foundations is our main source of philanthropic income so we are looking
for somebody with experience in grants fundraising who can quickly apply their skills and
expertise. You’ll work closely with our Development Director to report to and liaise with current
funders, manage a pipeline of prospects and submit successful applications to secure new grants.
In addition, you will support in building a major donor programme to diversify and strengthen our
funding base. You will collaborate with colleagues at all levels across the organisation, from impact
producers to reporters to finance and operations, in a supportive and welcoming culture that
values teamwork and shared success.
As an excellent communicator, you will be able to take complex issues and translate them into
clear, compelling narratives that resonate with funders and stakeholders. You will also be
passionate about building strong relationships with our funders and supporters.
While experience in high-net-worth fundraising would be a valuable bonus, it is not essential. You
don’t need to have raised funds for non-profit media before, but you do need to be excited by our
work and able to express The Bureau’s key areas of work and impact in an accessible, accurate and
compelling way. We’re a small team, so you’ll need the willingness to pitch in on fundraising tasks
– big or small – to ensure The Bureau is in the best possible position to pursue its mission.
Skills and Experience:
- Excellent fundraiser with a demonstrable track record of 3+ years’ experience successfully raising significant funds for charities or non-profits and managing relationships with funders (foundations - essential, high net worth individuals - desirable);
- Strong background in managing grants admin, including due diligence and processing agreements;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, able to speak and write English fluently;
- Great analytical skills, with experience in researching and identifying new funding sources for various projects;
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities;
- Experience of working with databases and funding pipelines;
- Exceptional time management skills, a professional attitude, and meticulous attention to detail;
- Resourceful and able to think creatively with strong problem-solving skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to collaborate at all levels across the organisation.
- Experience in securing funds for journalism, social justice, civil society, human rights, or related causes is desirable but not essential;
- We envisage this as a full-time, primarily hybrid working role, working from our London office two/three times a week.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to lead our Programmes Team whilst our current Director of Programmes is on maternity leave. The role will be fixed term from December 2024 until January 2026, although there may be further opportunities beyond the length of the contract depending on organisational growth.
The Director of Programmes will be a key member of CoachBright’s Senior Management Team, and will have input on both operational and strategic decision making. The primary responsibility for the Director of Programmes will be to recruit school partners for our EEF trial, with delivery beginning September 2025. This trial is to test the impact our Peer to Peer coaching programme (Y10s coaching Y7s) can have on the maths attainment of disadvantaged pupils. The trial will require us to recruit 100 participating schools, 50 of whom will receive the intervention, with another 50 allocated to a control group.
Working alongside the CEO and the Programmes Team Leader, you will create and execute a strategy to recruit new schools as participants to this trial. As a result, experience of managing sales or partnerships with schools, or existing connections with senior leaders at secondary schools and multi-academy trusts, would be beneficial.
Alongside this, you will line manage our current Programmes Team Leader, who directly line manages our team of Programme Managers. From Sept 2025, we are expecting our Programmes Team to grow, and you will play a key role in recruiting for that expanded team. At that point, we would expect you to begin line managing a small number of Programme Managers directly.

Write and execute the strategy to deliver our EEF trial. This will primarily involve recruiting and onboarding 100 schools to participate from January 2025 through to July 2025, for programmes to begin in September 2025.

The Role
To deliver on our new strategy and exciting capital and activity Masterplan, Wonderseekers is growing its Fundraising Team. The Head of Major Gifts is a pivotal new role within this team: working closely with the Director of Fundraising and managing a small team of experienced Trusts & Foundations (T&F) fundraisers, to achieve an initial target of circa £3.5 million within the next two years.
Accomplished at assimilating and interpreting complex information to craft compelling, high-level funding proposals, the post holder will lead and coordinate project fundraising campaigns to achieve the individual project targets, ensuring the highest quality of funding approach and donor stewardship across the Major Gifts Team.
In addition to managing and supporting the in-house T&F Managers and freelance T&F fundraisers to secure five and six figure grants, the post holder will develop and manage their own portfolio of major T&Fs and high net worth individual (HNWI) donors contributing circa £1 million towards the overall initial target. Working with the Director of Fundraising, they will play a lead role in establishing a strong and loyal major donor base of organisations and HNWI for the Charity in anticipation of future funding needs.
