Merton Mencap is a local charity supporting young people and adults with a learning disabilty and / or autism and their family carers in the borough of Merton.

We provide weekday, weekend and holiday clubs, as well as learning opportunities at our Community Cafe.  We hold lots of fundraising events such as indoor sky diving, our annual charity auction and staff joining together to sing Christmas carols in shopping centres to raise funds to support our projects.

This is a varied role and the successful candidate will be pivital to all aspects of the business, working with all members of the Senior Management Team as well as project staff who work across the borough of Merton.

The applicant will be responsible to the Office Manager and will support them in day to day operations for the charity, as well as being a social media and database expert for the charity.  Training on our database system will be provided.

The role is office based in our Merton Offices and can be worked over 2 or 3 days per week, 52 wks per year.

What a day might look like for you

Here at RSPCA we know it's a cliche but no two days are the same. We've added a short summary of what a typical day might look like, for a full insight please refer to the attached job description.

Tasks:

• Write and research press releases, statements for journalists, Q&As and other output on a wealth of animal welfare topics; ensuring these are in line with RSPCA policies.
• Respond quickly and effectively to queries from the media on the work, policies and campaigns of the RSPCA by writing statements and following the sign off procedure.
• Be a national and local spokesperson on general and speciality animal welfare issues, undertaking radio/TV interviews as required.
• Respond reactively to local and national journalists calls, emails and enquiries.
• Gather and generate news stories from across the organisation - on a variety of topics, including RSPCA campaigns, pets up for rehoming, statistical trends, education and more.
• Promote the RSPCA's frontline, campaigns and policy work, by devising communications plans and formulating ideas for press releases, media launches and other tools to engage with journalists.
• Analyse and report on the impact of RSPCA press output - both in terms of media coverage gained; traction with key target media; but also its wider impact in supporting the organisational objectives and new RSPCA Strategy.

• Initiate and maintain contacts with all relevant journalists, broadcasters and PR agencies, internal departments and other departments.
• Collate and analyse key RSPCA and animal welfare statistics.

What makes a great National Press Officer?

You'll have:

• Previous experience working either as a journalist, a press officer or in a PR/comms environment, combined with the ability to build good working relationships both within and outside of the organisation.
• Ability to deliver to deadlines, working off your own initiative.
• A proactive and independent approach to work and newsgathering.
• Either an NCTJ qualification - which includes the modules of media law and court reporting; a relevant PR or Communications qualification, or demonstrable relevant experience.

The Masonic Charitable Foundation is looking for an experienced adviser to join our frontline Advice, Support & Enquiries Team managing all enquiries via the advice line and electronic/mail channels. Each month we receive hundreds of phone calls and emails from people who need our help. The team’s Advisers are often the first point of contact with the MCF and play a key role in our grants process.

You will need excellent customer service skills, a high level of personal resilience, ability to quickly build a good rapport with callers and be a team player who is willing to support colleagues and prioritise the needs of the team. Previous experience in a comparable role is desirable.

Day to day responsibilities include answering calls and responding to emails from individuals and families for a range of support (including daily living costs, health and care and education), liaising with our Advice and Support Advisers and Visiting Volunteers, awarding grants for counselling and consultations and keeping the grants system up to date.

Contact is a national charity for families with disabled children. We provide information, advice and support, and bring families together so they can support each other. We campaign to improve their circumstances, and for their right to be included and equal in society.

About the role

Contact has a long history of supporting families of children with disabilities aged 0-25 in the London Borough of Lambeth. The project has an office in the Weare 336 building in Brixton.

The project currently has a full time Project Manager, and we are looking to recruit a part time Family Worker. The project is directly line managed by the national Contact’s London Family Support Projects Manager.

The project receives its core funding from the Local Authority.

You will support the manager in Lambeth in delivering and providing families in Lambeth high quality information, advice and support.

What we’re looking for

Experience of working with and supporting families who have disabled children and/or additional needs.  Good organizational and administrative skills.

Knowledge and experience of the issues and concerns that affect families who have disabled children and/or additional needs, e.g. benefits, social care and education.

Knowledge and experience of welfare benefits, especially Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), and other benefits targeted at families with disabled children and/or additional needs

Good communication, listening skills, time management and networking skills.

IKWRO - Women’s Rights Organisation is a registered charity (number 1151507) which supports Middle Eastern women and girls living in the UK who are facing “honour” based violence, forced marriage, domestic violence or female genital mutilation.

As well as providing support to individual women and girls, we run training for professionals and campaigns for better laws and policies to protect women’s rights.

We are recruiting a counsellor that speaks either Farsi, Dari, Kurdish, Turkish or Arabic, who is able to model skills in safely engaging women based on mutual collaboration, trust and empowerment.
