About the Role

The Head of Projects & Development is responsible for leading the strategic design, development, and implementation of programmes that advance DCCT's mission. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that programmes are innovative, impactful, and sustainable. The Head of Projects & Development oversees the entire programme lifecycle, from initial concept to evaluation, ensuring that all programmes meet the highest standards of quality and effectiveness.

The Head of Projects and Development role will line manage the Health, Inclusion, Education and Schools & Coaching departments to drive growth across existing programmes and seek new opportunities and range of activities for Derby County Community Trust.

About the role 

We are looking for a proactive individual to join our team. You will support impact measurement and evaluation across a suite of over 20 Young Enterprise programmes and services, plus fundraising, marketing, volunteering and alumni activity. You will be involved in collating learning from across Young Enterprise, including leading on data collection through our existing systems, analysis and disseminating findings through various means including our internal evidence hub, external reports, senior leadership updates and internal project reports.

This is a fast-moving role which will require you to have a flexible approach. You will be able to work independently on impact and evaluation tasks (with guidance from the Head of Impact and Insights) while working closely with colleagues from a range of teams and functions across the charity. The ability to manage your workload across multiple projects is a key part of this role, as well as thinking broadly and creatively about improving and embedding good impact practice at Young Enterprise as an integral part of our upcoming Transforming Futures strategy (2024-2030).

As well as our Centre Manager, the staff team includes our Administration Manager, caretaker and cafe staff.  We also have a great team of volunteers, and a strong Board of Trustees responsible for the governance of the charity. We receive no external funding and operate largely from hire income and successful applications for grant funding.

The role

As Centre Manager, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of this busy, vibrant community centre and engaging with the community and hirers to present a welcoming, friendly and inclusive atmosphere. Your role will include:

• promoting Malvern Cube and what it offers, developing and maintaining a strong community presence and ensuring that the facilities are well used and hire income is maximised.
• ensuring the effective robust financial management of Malvern Cube and providing regular financial reports to trustees.

• contributing to the development of Malvern Cube's strategic plan and leading on key aspects of its implementation.

We are looking for a high-calibre candidate to take up a permanent role as Centre Leader at our new IntoUniversity centre in Gateshead. You will have responsibility for setting up, launching and running your IntoUniversity centre, including managing your team, planning and delivering the programme, liaising with external stakeholders and meeting IntoUniversity’s targets for delivery. However, a substantial element of this role is delivering our education programme to children and young people aged 7-18, so you will need to have a genuine passion and enthusiasm for working with young people, including leading a class of 30 from the front, working with small teams of children and providing one-to-one support.

Eligibility for the role

In order to be eligible for the Centre Leader role, applicants will:

• Have completed an undergraduate degree to a 2.2 or higher.
• Have achieved a grade C/ grade 4 or higher in GCSE Maths and English/ achieved National 5s or Standard Grade at Credit level (grades 1-2) in Maths and English (or equivalent).
• Have EITHER a minimum of 18 months full-time paid experience working in a delivery role at IntoUniversity; OR a minimum of 2 years full-time paid or voluntary experience working with children and young people, either at IntoUniversity, or external organisations, or a combination of both. Please note that we will not take part-time, seasonal or ad-hoc work into account when calculating the length of full-time experience.
• Have the right to work in the UK (please note that as a charity we do not have the capacity to sponsor work visas).
• Be able to apply knowledge of F.E. and H.E. (e.g. UCAS applications) to help young people decide about their futures; and have knowledge of national developments in H.E. and their impact on young people traditionally underrepresented in H.E.

What will my main dutires be?

To lead the staff team at the centre, generating a positive and inclusive working environment and ethos and ensuring that the team are well motivated, are managing their workloads effectively, and are providing a high quality service.

You will initially be involved in the set up of this brand new centre, including developing local school relationships and we anticipate that delivery of the IntoUniversity programmes will begin in the 2024 summer term.

We’re looking for a new STH Practitioner to provide high quality and effective Social and Therapeutic Horticulture (STH) programmes for adults in our gardens in Battersea Park and outreach settings. Working alongside volunteers this role will support people with learning disabilities, autism, long term health conditions or other disabilities.

Based at Thrive London in Battersea Park. The role will involve some work undertaken off-site in London and occasional travel to the Thrive Centres in Reading and Birmingham.

At OPAL we are on a mission. We want to help older people and their carers in rural West Cheshire by preventing them becoming socially isolated and lonely. So, we run a range of different services in venues such as community centres, church halls and peoples’ homes, all in aid of helping older people to socialise and to stay living at home for longer.

About the Role

As manager, you will organise and direct the day-to-day work of OPAL, ensuring it is an effective organisation, meeting the needs of its members, staff, volunteers and stakeholders. Prior experience of working in the charity sector is not necessary, but some knowledge and an understanding of the issues that can affect older people and their carers living in rural communities, would be advantageous, as would a background in Social or Health Care.

Working closely with the CEO, the Audit, Finance and Risk (AFR) Committee and the Board, the Finance & Corporate Services Manager is responsible for the financial management of the charity on a strategic and operational level, and supports our corporate, HR and ICT functions. As a member of the Senior Management Team, this position provides leadership and support to the wider team, and line management of the Finance & Corporate Services Officer. You will be an experienced senior manager with at least 4-5 years of experience in finance within the charity sector and providing back-office support. An accountancy qualification is essential, as is knowledge of SORP.

About the role

We are excited to be advertising this newly created role as part of WGN’s growth. This role will be the lead on the finance function. Reporting into the Director of Finance and Resources, the role works closely with stakeholders across the organisation including executive leadership, with a specific focus on working closely with the Director and external auditors. The role will have two direct reports – Finance Business Partner and Finance Officer. About the role 

Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers. 

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. 

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the South East region, which includes: Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Guernsey, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Jersey, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, Sussex.

There will be occasional travel around the South East Region and you may be required to travel at short notice for face to face meetings.

About the team 

The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. You will work closely with volunteers from the ten SSAFA branches in the South East, supporting them to administer casework for SSAFA beneficiaries. About you 

To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of providing welfare advice in key areas such as, housing benefits, debt, disability, mobility or immigration issues. You will have knowledge of safeguarding and GDPR and experience in dealing with sensitive information and people in vulnerable situations. You will be able to provide excellent customer service by telephone, e-mail and face to face. You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

It would be advantageous if you have an understanding of the way of life for today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and if you have experience of recruiting and supporting volunteers. About Future Frontiers

At Future Frontiers, we support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to realise their potential at school and achieve post-16 qualifications that build towards secure, fulfilling employment.

In partnership with schools, businesses and supporters, we deliver an evidence-based programme of career coaching and 1:1 guidance for young people when they are in Year 10 and 11. This year, we are working with 3,000 young people across Greater London. 

Our five-year strategy for 2021-26 is focused on ensuring that our programme achieves meaningful long-term impact at the post-16 transition, transforming the life-chances of disadvantaged young people.

About the role

A colleague in the Operations team will be taking maternity leave from late 2024 for approximately 10 months. We are looking for a new team member to join us in late November for a period of handover with the current Finance and Operations Officer, and then to support the Director of Operations during our colleague’s maternity leave. 

Key focus areas will be finance and bookkeeping using Xero software, HR support, basic IT management and charity and company administration.

This role provides the chance for an experienced Xero user to develop a greater understanding and knowledge of charity and company management across finance, HR, IT, operations, office management and administration in a friendly and supportive environment, with personal and professional development at its heart.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management

• Bookkeeping via Xero 

  • Reconciliations

  • Preparing bills and invoices

  • Manual journals

  • Monthly reporting 

  • Audit field work support

• Department budgets (managed via google sheets)

• Recording income and expenditure

• Recording restricted and unrestricted fundraising income

• Bank payments

• Work across departments to support timely invoicing and proactive debtor management

Operations Management

• Manage Operations email inbox

• Office management (serviced offices)

• IT management (issue laptops etc)

• Basic website maintenance

HR Management

• HR record management

• Support recruitment and hiring process

• Lead on new starter induction process

Company and Charity Administration

• Support Governor and the charity with compliance administration

• Support Director of Operations and CEO with organisational requirements such as audit, company filing and gift aid submissions

About you

Experience:

• Proven experience and high level competency on Xero accounting software and Excel/Google Sheets (Essential);

• Demonstrated success in supporting colleagues within an operations team (Essential);

• A passion for social mobility and a commitment to the charity’s mission (Essential).
