Job Title: Sexual Health Independent Domestic and Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA)
Location: 4 days working from home, 1 day in Camden
Salary: £14-19 per hour
Contract: Full-time, Temp - 1-2 month contract

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of survivors of domestic and sexual violence? We are seeking a Sexual Health IDSVA to lead on supporting survivors and advocating for their safety and well-being. This role focuses on providing critical support to victims/survivors within sexual health services in Barnet, ensuring a holistic and survivor-centred approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the lead on sexual health for domestic and sexual abuse survivors in Barnet.
  • Provide comprehensive support to survivors at all risk levels-standard, medium, and high-within a Sexual Health Clinic setting.
  • Deliver risk assessments, safety planning, and intensive advocacy for survivors, ensuring their safety and well-being are prioritised.
  • Co-locate within the Sexual Health Clinic, acting as a vital link between sexual health services and domestic abuse support.
  • Attend safeguarding meetings and work closely with Sexual Health staff, offering expert advice and guidance on individual cases.
  • Coordinate multi-agency support, ensuring survivor perspectives are central in any decision-making.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider team to deliver support services in line with best practices.
  • Provide training and information sessions for Sexual Health professionals on domestic and sexual abuse.
  • Build and strengthen partnerships with other services and agencies in Barnet to deliver integrated support to survivors.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of all casework and ensure compliance with legal and reporting requirements.
  • Uphold and promote equality, diversity, and human rights in all aspects of the role.

About You:

  • Experience in working with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, ideally in a health-related setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to domestic violence, sexual abuse, and coercive control.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans for survivors and their children.
  • Strong advocacy skills, particularly in multi-agency settings.
  • A commitment to supporting diverse communities, including LGBTQ+ and male survivors.
  • Experience providing training or delivering presentations to professionals.
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
  • A proactive, empathetic approach, with a commitment to survivor-centred service delivery.
