Job description

Make-A-Wish UK is looking for an Art of Wishes and Special Events Lead who can ensure a magical experience is given to everyone.

Right now over 63,000 children in the UK are eligible for a wish because they are dealing with the grueling daily reality of life with a critical illness. When it comes to their dreams, they deserve to wish for more than a life defined by their illness. Make-A-Wish UK exists to give them the chance to dream big even when they might not have long to live. The wishes we grant have the power to turn tears into cheers, rescuing the magic of childhood even in their toughest times and providing a lifeline for families to spend precious time together. The growing demand for wishes means a heartbreaking reality of families waiting for a wish, but for some children, there is no time to wait. The only wish we can’t guarantee is more time. But with our bold plans to double income over the next 5 years, we can grant more wishes sooner, before it's too late.

The Art of Wishes and Special Events Lead will ensure Art of Wishes, a market leading flagship fundraising programme for Make-A-Wish UK that brings the art world together, is delivered and developed to outstanding standards. The successful candidate will drive growth in fundraising and programme awareness and play a key support role for Make-A-Wish UK Patron and Chair of the Art of Wishes, Batia Ofer and the Art of Wishes committeemembers. They will lead a delivery team to support these goals.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Successfully manage and coordinate the delivery of Art of Wishes and ongoing plan of income generating initiatives and special events, generating required net income targets and meeting objectives

  • Lead, grow and foster relationships with Art of Wishes partners, suppliers and supporters to maximise their impact and experience. · Provide specialist insight, knowledge and commercial acumen from the art and culture sector to develop opportunities and deliver the programme to the required standards

  • Support and direct the Business Development Manager with targeted new business approaches, including preparation of pitch documents and accompanying them to meetings

  • Regularly use data and analysis to report KPIs and ensure the programme is on track to meet agreed targets and objectives
