Director of People and Culture

Are you innovative and people focused?  Are you experienced in driving change, employee engagement and people development? Are you values driven and believe in fighting hunger and reducing food waste? 

Fareshare, the UK’s largest food redistribution charity, is seeking a new Director of People and Culture who is passionate to lead its team of HR professionals to ensure effective delivery of the HR, volunteering and organisational development efforts.  

Reporting to the CEO, and as a member of the senior leadership team, this role is critical in shaping Fareshare’s work place culture, organisational structure and ensuring it remains inclusive and values driven.  

You will be responsible for strategic leadership, developing and implementing the people and culture strategy in alignment with the overall goals and values and will lead initiatives that build a culture of trust, collaboration and continuous improvement.   Fareshare has an important relationship with the Food industry and charity sector and this role should proactively collaborate with similar positions in other organisations as well as playing a leading role in supporting external engagement. 

Key responsibilities also include talent management, through all recruitment and development programs, to ensure Fareshare has the capability to grow.  Plus, employee and volunteer experience and engagement to ensure that Fareshare is an employer of choice and is a diverse and inclusive organisation.  Overseeing HR operations and compliance are key to encourage best practice plus organisation development and leading change management. 

You will be a people person, with high energy and be experienced in driving culture change. You will have a proven track record a similar senior level in HR, ideally in a purpose driven or non-profit organisation, together with an understanding of the commercial relationships that Fareshare engage in.  It is essential you are MCIPD qualified, or with relevant experience, have a strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practice and can demonstrate success in creating strategies that align with organisational goals.   Excellent communication skills and strong team management and leadership skills are a given.

We offer: 

  • Hybrid working based out of London with visibility in the office 1-2 days a week plus regular travel to other UK sites. 
  • Permanent role
  • Full-time 35 hours a week
  • £85,000 per annum plus pension
