Job description

Our challenge

We know how devastating a brain tumour diagnosis can be. That’s why our teams play such an important role in offering support to anyone affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.

When someone is diagnosed, they may feel overwhelmed and not sure which way to turn. Our resources could be a nice place for them to start.

Our ‘10 ways we can help’ leaflet summarises our support services and signposts to our website so that they can find out more.

Our Brain Tumour Information Pack is full of useful knowledge, from practical advice to tips on where to find support. While the packs may be particularly useful for those who have recently been diagnosed, the resources are suitable for anyone affected by a brain tumour, no matter where they are in their journey.

We post these resources out to people in our community and to healthcare professionals, so that they can hand them out to those that they are supporting.

How can you help?

This is a lovely opportunity to support our team by packing and sending out the ‘10 ways we can help’ leaflets and information packs to individuals who need our help. By volunteering in this role you will help bring some comfort and reassurance to those affected by brain tumours.

In this this role you would be involved in:

  • Packing information packs
  • Keeping track of stock levels
  • Using the online Parcel Force system to organise collections and printing labels for the orders
  • Assisting with packing orders for other items as required
  • Getting involved in other projects or tasks as needed

What impact will you have?

During 2024 we sent out 3,500 information packs to our community. You will play a key role in making sure that the brain tumour community have the right information as early as possible.

We’re looking for…

We would love to hear from you, if you have:

  • Good IT and computer skills
  • Great organisational skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • The ability to work as part of a team and autonomously
  • A passion for helping others

The Brain Tumour Charity is committed to promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our organisation. We particularly welcome applications from individuals belonging to minority ethnic groups, LGBTQ+ communities, people with disabilities, and other underrepresented communities.

What can you gain from volunteering?

  • You’ll have the opportunity to utilise your existing skills, while developing and learning new ones to take forward into the future
  • You’ll join a friendly, passionate team and develop an understanding of how this team at The Charity operates
  • The satisfaction of knowing that you’re making a valuable contribution to the lives of those affected by brain tumours

Time commitment

This role would be a regular weekly commitment of approximately 2-3 hours per week. This will be between the hours 9am-5pm on Thursdays.

Practical considerations

We are looking for someone to ideally start in March. The role is based at our offices in Fleet, Hampshire.

You will receive a full induction to The Brain Tumour Charity and any specific training for the role, as well as ongoing direction from a team member within the Support Team.

We carry out reference checks for all individuals who will be volunteering with us on a regular basis. Volunteers will also be required to complete some internal data protection and disclosure documentation before commencing the role. Volunteers must be over 18.

Interested?
