Job description

Volunteer Role: Volunteer Coordinator

Hours: Approx 6 hours per week (Evening/Weekend based)

Location: London/Hybrid

We're setting up a new youth work charity in the London area, and we have some exciting opportunities availale to launch in the new year, but we need a very proactive, highly organised and passionate person who can volunteer with us and take on the role of Volunteer Coordinator and lead the start-up and management of our volunteering programme, including the recruitment, selection and coordination of all volunteers coming into our new charity.

We're Urban Youth a start-up dynamic grassroots youth work organisation based in London. We are dedicated to transforming the lives of young people through engaging and empowering community initiatives. As we await our charity registration, we are driven by the passion and commitment of our volunteers who believe in the potential of every young person.

At Urban Youth, we aim to divert young people away from risky behaviours and crime by providing them with meaningful opportunities and experiences. We understand the significant challenges facing the youth of London today, but we also know that with the right support, they can thrive. Our mission is to create a safe and positive environment where young individuals can explore their interests, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships.

We have some real amazing opportunities coming our way and we really need to take full advantage of these and need to get things in place for us to be able create fantastic opportunities for young people in 2025 and beyond.

As our Volunteer Coordinator you would have a range of responsibilities to ensure the effective recruitment, management, and retention of volunteers. Here are some key duties:

  1. Recruitment: Finding and recruiting new volunteers through various channels, such as social media, community events, and partnerships with local organisations.

  2. Training and Onboarding: Providing comprehensive training and onboarding sessions to ensure volunteers are well-prepared for their roles and introduced to Urban Youth fully.

  3. Volunteer Management: Overseeing the day-to-day activities of volunteers, ensuring they are engaged and motivated.

  4. Relationship Building: Developing strong relationships with volunteers, addressing their concerns, and providing ongoing support.

  5. Policy Development: Drafting and implementing policies and procedures related to volunteer management.

  6. Communication: Coordinating with internal departments and external partners to identify volunteer needs and opportunities.

  7. Event Planning: Organising volunteer appreciation events and other activities to recognise and celebrate volunteer contributions.

  8. Monitoring and Evaluation: Tracking volunteer performance and providing feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
