World Horse Welfare is an international charity that strives to support and strengthen the horse-human relationship through a combination of care, research, education and influence. We are looking for a friendly, highly organised individual to oversee the daily running of our Visitor Centre at Glenda Spooner Farm which nestled in the stunning Somerset countryside, just outside the cozy township of Somerton. The main aim of the role is to ensure that all visitors have an enjoyable and informative experience, whilst assisting the Senior Centre Promotions Officer and Centre Manager with the organisation of a variety of events.

The successful candidate will be approachable with the ability to communicate with people at all levels. You will be flexible, self-motivated and proactive with the confidence to deal with people at all levels. This role deals with enquiries relating to the hiring and use of centre’s facilities (indoor school and conference room) and the subsequent co-ordination of bookings, ensuring the arrangements meet all requirements. You will promote the charity’s membership schemes and ensure all promotional and display material, including merchandise, is up to date and presented professionally. A knowledge and experience of horses would be advantageous.

This role offers up to 32 hours per week over 4 days. It is operated on a flexible basis and would suit a job-share as weekend working is required. A flexible approach towards working hours is essential as some events can take place outside of normal working hours.

People & Culture

• Lead the review and development of HR policies and processes to ensure that they embody People’s Economy’s values, and support effective working and staff wellbeing, drawing in external expertise as necessary.

• Lead the development and implementation of recruitment processes for staff vacancies, ensuring compliance with People’s Economy’s recruitment policy and employment law.

• Lead the implementation of formal HR processes e.g. disciplinary processes, contract variations, and act as the key point of contact with People’s Economy’s external HR advisers. 

• Contribute to the development of organisational culture and values and ensure that they are embedded, promoted and enacted throughout the organisation.

• Lead review and development of People’s Economy’s safeguarding policy, processes and practice including staff and trustee training.

Operations

Finance

• Lead People’s Economy’s financial management and control, including:

  • Manage People’s Economy’s book-keeping and payroll providers to ensure that high quality records of income and expenditure are maintained and the smooth operation of supplier payments, invoicing, payroll and pensions contributions.

  • Oversee the timely production of regular financial reporting including management accounts, cash forecasting and quarterly reporting to the Board. Scrutinise regular finance reports and work to resolve any issues identified. 

  • Liaise with People’s Economy’s accountant and manage the annual process of independent examination and producing year-end reports and accounts.

• Lead on financial planning, including the preparation of an annual organisational budget and lead on updating budget information throughout the year.

• Create systems and processes to support staff to develop and manage budgets for the programmes and projects that they are leading.

• With support from the Executive Director, lead the development of organisational business plans and monitoring of progress against them, including reporting on progress to the Trustee Board.

• Lead on fundraising administration:

  • Track progress against income targets ensuring information is kept up to date and regularly updating the Executive Director on the position.

Essential

• Demonstrable track record of operating at leadership level (CEO, or similar) within a small-medium size charity.
• Comprehensive understanding of UK charity administration, finance and regulatory responsibilities (e.g. Charity Commission).
• Experience of working strategically to source, secure and steward sustainable funding (grant income and individual giving) working within tight financial constraints.
• Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and processes, safety, and quality management.
• Comfortable with digital/remote working e.g. use of One Drive, Slack, Zoom.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel) and accounting software Xero.
• Excellent written and communication skills, able to articulate complex ideas in simple language.
• Passionate about the charity sector, and AzuKo’s cause.

You will lead Woman’s Trust income generation ensuring adequate income to sustain and grow the organisation, increasing its income from £1.3 Million to £3 Million in the next 3 years. While raising funds from multiple income streams, focus growths areas will be statutory and Trust and foundation funding securing six-figure, multiple-year grants and contracts. You will effectively communicate our services and campaign our aims aligned to our strategic priorities.

You will oversee the development and implementation of the fundraising strategy and the funding pipeline; ensure the maintenance and development of excellent relationships with current and new funders, stewarding grants and reporting back; review, update and develop service budgets; oversee the submission or coordination of quality bids, approaches, and events.

As a member of the senior leadership team, this post will work cross departmentally and will contribute to the overall strategy of Woman’s Trust, working closely with the CEO and the Board of Trustees. You will lead and line manage the Senior Trust and Foundation Manager and Fundraising Officer.  You will deliver a direct income target for each year, with a focus on the development and tendering of statutory commissioning.

Hours: 35 hours per week (28 hours will be considered).

The Diocese is seeking a Church Building Support Officer to join our team on a fixed-term contract, to work closely with parishes to help secure sustainable futures for some of our most historic and cherished church buildings. You'll help PCCs to identify and explore complimentary non-worship uses for their buildings, helping them to become vibrant and viable centres of mission and community life. You’ll support them in ensuring the church buildings are fit for the future, fostering greater community engagement, and developing long-term sustainability strategies.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of a developing church buildings strategy, shaping the future approach to church building support within the Diocese. You will work closely with a range of stakeholders to bring these strategies to life, ensuring that churches remain places of worship, community activity, and cultural significance.

This is a new fixed-term post funded by the Church Commissioners of the Church of England through their Buildings for Mission funding. The funding is for an initial period of twenty months, ending in September 2026, unless the funding is extended.

The main responsibilities of the Church Building Support Officer are:

• Work with Parochial Church Councils (PCCs) to develop community action plans that align with local needs.

• Support PCCs in identifying mixed-use opportunities for the church building

• Facilitate the building of strong relationships with local groups, charities, and other partners to promote the wider use of church buildings.

• Help PCCs in maintaining and developing their buildings to accommodate wider uses, and ensure they are kept in good condition

• Foster volunteer engagement, helping churches recruit for new roles and groups to aid long-term sustainability.

• Capture and share key lessons from pilot projects to inform future diocesan strategies.

Your eye for detail, 'get things done' attitude, and your bookkeeping skills will make a huge difference to our creative and innovative team.

You will be responsible for managing our financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations, and providing administrative support to the team. You will already have working experience of QuickBooks Online in a non-profit setting and a proven track record of getting things done efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks Online.

  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including donations and grants.

  • Submit quarterly VAT claims

  • Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow.

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budget preparation.

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.

• Administration:

  • Provide administrative support to the team where it would add most value (e.g. sales invoicing, scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining office supplies).

  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of fundraising events and campaigns.

  • Handle general inquiries and provide excellent customer service to stakeholders.

• Compliance and Reporting:

  • Help prepare management reports to support the trustees in their governance

  • Assist with annual audits and liaise with external auditors.

  • Ensure compliance with charity-specific financial regulations and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a bookkeeper/administrator, preferably in a non-profit setting.

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online.

• A formal and UK recognised bookkeeping/accounting qualification is highly desirable

• Solid understanding of non-profit accounting principles and regulations.

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

The Diocese of Derby is committed to becoming a greener, net diocese as it responds to the fifth mark of mission, to strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth. The postholder will work in collaboration with existing and yet to be appointed officers within a new ‘buildings for mission’ sub-team within the Department of Discipleship, Mission & Ministry to facilitate smooth administration and communication which will resource churches, schools and other Christian communities to cherish creation through the reduction/ elimination of their carbon footprint.

Key Responsibilities
 • Supporting the NZC Programme / Project Manager in monitoring and tracking progress across all 
   parishes.
• Offer project and contract administration guidance to parishes.
• Work closely with the Diocesan Environmental Engagement Officer in supporting the improvement 
  of Energy Footprint Tool (EFT) responses.
• Support heads of departments across the diocese both in their NZC work and also in other work 
  to release time for them to manage their environmental tasks. This work will be of an administrative 
  nature and vary from department to department.
• Gather data on carbon emissions and progress in the diocesan Action Plan and contribute to the 
  writing of reports.
• Administer grant-funding streams allocated to the Diocese.
• Ensure all SharePoint folders are up to date and assist in maintaining effective and efficient filing 
  including the appropriate use of Teams.
• Become familiar with the resources provided by the national NZC and environment teams updating 
  relevant digital and other media outlets producing communication material as appropriate.
• Support the NZC Working Group including setting dates and venues, writing up the minutes and 
  organising the paperwork and reporting its work.
• Work closely with the other members of the environment team om matters of common concern

• support the ethos, aims and objectives of the Church of England and the diocese;
