We're seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Active Communities Programme Lead to join our experienced Active Communities Team. This team has a proven track record of delivering successful physical activity programmes across the Wandsworth borough, catering to diverse populations.

Reports to: Active Communities Manager

Based: Battersea 

Salary: £30,000

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Work Arrangement: 40 hours per week, Hybrid/Office

Role Overview: 

As our Active Communities Programme Lead, you will play a vital role in planning, monitoring, and supporting the delivery of our physical activity programmes for youth and adults. Working closely with the Active Communities Manager, you'll engage individuals in various community settings, promoting and delivery physical activity to address wider social needs. 
 

The Active Communities Team are a passionate team who use physical activity to address wider systemic issues within the borough. We put the person at the centre of everything we do, building innovative initiatives that tackle barriers to accessing physical activity. We are experts at creating lasting changes for individuals and communities. 

 

Main Duties/Responsibilities:  

  • Recruit, deploy and monitor the delivery of qualified sports and physical activity coaches across a range of different programmes.  
  • Contribute towards Enable’s ambitious strategy through highlighting our impact in quarterly reports, case studies and feedback from service users
  • Monitor and evaluate all contracted and funded physical activity programmes with a focus on impact, sustainability and expansion  
  • Ensure good representation of all programmes by raising awareness of collaborative partners, sessions and community relationships
  • Support the growth of the service by supporting applications and tenders for new programmes and projects.  
  • Be responsible for the programme budgets, closely monitoring expenditure and income to ensure that programmes are running within scope of agreed funding/budget  
  • Be responsible for conducting risk assessments and any other relevant documentation to ensure our sessions are fully health and safety compliant
  • Delegate and oversee administrative tasks to casual instructors and staff  

Skills and Experience:  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including excellent administrative and IT skills
  • Experience networking and forming meaningful working relationships, with the ability to motivate and engage instructors, coaches and relevant stakeholders   
  • Ability and confidence to build rapport and develop relationships and partnerships   
  • High level problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize effectively   
  • Experience of working with sport and physical activity groups and an understanding of their challenges
  • Experience working with volunteers (managing volunteers desirable)   
  • Excellent writing skills for a wide range of needs - E.g. report writing, newsletters, case studies etc.   
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to communicate a vision simply and effectively
  • Ability to work independently and manage own workload
  • A passion for community and genuine desire to make a positive impact on local communities
