We are looking for a part time Information & Advocacy Community Support Worker in Scotland. You will be home based living in the North of Scotland.
You will ensure that service users (children and adults) and their families, receive high quality support, from the point of diagnosis and throughout their journey, and will assist them to access funding, equipment and care and support that they are entitled to. You will join a team that makes a real difference to the lives of the people living with muscle-wasting conditions, and their families, in Scotland. The role will be primarily home based, but there will also be a requirement to attend outpatient clinics within the region, attend home visits where appropriate and to support responding to queries through the helpline and information inbox. Some travel will be required to attend meetings and events outside of Scotland. You will work with both statutory and voluntary organisations, clinicians, and health and social care professionals to ensure that people living with muscle wasting conditions get the care and support they need to live well and independently.

Kids Club Kampala is a UK charity with a Christian ethos that works to transform the lives of children in the slums of Kampala in Uganda. Financial Administration

Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate financial records, including processing receipts, invoices, payments, and expenses.

Budgeting and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of budgets, financial forecasts, and reports for internal management and external stakeholders.

Grant Management: Track income and expenditure related to grants and restricted funds, ensuring compliance with donor requirements.

Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank accounts on a regular basis to ensure the accuracy of financial statements.

About the Programme
The Creative Minds Programme is a six-month initiative promoting mental health and well-being through creative activities like painting, music, writing, and more. Open to adults (over the age of 18) in West Kent, the programme offers inclusive, free sessions led by professional artists and supported by wellbeing workers. Participants need no prior experience, just enthusiasm and a desire to improve their mental health.
Key Objectives include boosting confidence, fostering connections, enhancing life skills, and increasing participants' ability to manage their mental health and support others.
Now in its second year, the programme aims to support 864 adults over three years, with a focus on those with mental health challenges or feelings of loneliness. In addition to creative workshops, the programme offers leadership training to select participants, empowering them to become "Creative Agents." These agents lead "Creative Places" to engage the wider public in community-based creative activities.
The programme is set to conclude in March 2026, with two more rounds of activities still to come.
About the role
Our Creative Minds programme, funded by the National Lottery, is designed to enhance mental health and wellbeing for adults in West Kent through engaging in creative activities. These 24-week programmes are held in various locations across West Kent and are conducted in collaboration with professional artists, local arts organisations, and our Creative Agents, supported by the West Kent Mind community wellbeing team.
The programme leverages creativity to support mental health and wellbeing.
We are seeking an Independent Evaluator to assess the effectiveness of the Creative Minds Programme, a three-year initiative supported by the National Lottery Community Fund.
Following a successful first year, the evaluator will use various methodologies to evaluate:
Effectiveness and how well the programme met its objectives and outcomes to include but not limited to:
- Impact: Short- and long-term effects on clients' mental health and well-being.
- Accessibility and Inclusivity: Measures taken to ensure activities are accessible to all.
- Collaborators: Engagement levels among staff, volunteers, artists, clients, and partners.
- Public Outcomes: Community engagement with programme results.
- Challenges and Lessons Learned: Identification of challenges and strategies used, with insights for future projects.
Methodology will include a mixed approach using surveys, interviews, observations, case studies, and data analysis, including metrics from the Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS).
Deliverables:
- Evaluation plan with data collection tools.
- Interim report (May 2025) with preliminary findings and adjustments.
- Final report (March 2026) detailing programme impact, challenges, and recommendations.
- Presentation of findings to the National Lottery Community Fund.
Who you are
All previous experience may be paid or voluntary, full or part-time, in the UK or overseas.
Applicants are expected to demonstrate the following:
· Proven experience in evaluating arts and health programmes or similar community-based initiatives.
· Strong knowledge and understanding of creativity, the arts, and mental health, either independently or in collaboration.

Terms and Conditions
Freelance Fee: An inclusive fee of £8000 (inc. VAT). The fee is inclusive of all expenses related to the successful candidate’s time, travel, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Hours: The freelancer will allocate the time required to complete and fulfil this agreement. Visits to the programme to be discussed and scheduled with West Kent Mind Wellbeing and Creative Arts Programme Lead.
Location: The freelancer will work remotely. Scheduled visits within West Kent are required for in session visits.

Line Manager: Digital Communications Lead
Your responsibilities will include:
Social media delivery and community management
- Plan and deliver inspiring and effective social media content, including as part of engagement campaigns, fundraising appeals and initiative launches, and in support of our partners and members.
- Produce text- and video-/graphic-based social media posts and campaigns that are both suited to our target audiences and adapted for the most appropriate social channels.
- Carry out community management across the charity's digital channels, triaging queries and drafting responses.
- Assist with the optimisation of Rewilding Britain's current social media channels and the identification of new opportunities/platforms/trends that would help further our mission.
Email communications
- Support the Communications and Engagement team with the planning, building and scheduling of email communications (campaigns, supporters, fundraising, corporate partners etc) within Mailchimp.
- Assist with the AB testing of our email marketing and executing a plan of continuous improvement for our emails.
- Support with managing our enquiry inboxes as and when required.
Reporting and optimising
- Collate statistics on the performance of our social and email channels, in line with our KPIs, and work closely with the Digital Communications Lead to make ongoing recommendations for our output.
- Implement feedback and lessons learned to refine and improve our social media approach.
- Stay current with sector and specialist trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to continuously grow the effectiveness of our channels, particularly social media.

Terms and conditions and staff benefits
The role is a full-time, 5-day-week (35 hours) position.
The salary is £23,000 - £27,000 per annum depending upon experience.
There will be some freedom for the person to determine their own working arrangements each week, within limitations, providing the work is delivered.
Rewilding Britain employees benefit from 25 days annual leave per year (pro rata for part time roles), rising to 30 days over 5 years. A generous employer-matched pension scheme is also available.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
In consultation and verified compliance with the objectives, standards, and requirements of PETA, PETA France, PETA US, and PETA Science Consortium International e.V, the successful candidate will undertake the following:
- Independently research and interpret a variety of scientific, political, policy-driven, and other issues related to animal testing in order to further PETA’s goals
- Build networks and coordinate meetings with key policymakers and other stakeholders
- Write factsheets, white papers, reports, correspondence, and other literature
- Build relationships and maintain communication with key audiences, particularly decision-makers in the legislative and administrative arenas
- Lead meetings with parliamentarians, companies, and legislators and present at conferences
- Develop expertise in non-animal testing methods and draw upon the expertise of others
- Respond to correspondence regarding issues related to animal testing
- Conduct analyses of technical papers and legislation and translate scientific and legal terminology into lay terms for use in research projects
- Identify opportunities to provide public comments that promote non-animal testing approaches and lead the writing and presentation of these comments
- Represent PETA at public-speaking engagements, in debates, to the media, and to the general public
- Communicate PETA’s philosophy to the public
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications:
- Degree in a related field – a master’s and/or PhD is preferred
- Experience working at a relevant organisation or institute, such as an animal protection organisation, the civil service, a regulatory agency, or a biotechnology, chemical, pharmaceutical, or medical device company, is desirable
- Demonstrable experience of the functioning of Parliament
- Familiarity with the use of animals in laboratories, associated legislation, and alternatives to animal testing
- Proven ability to maintain awareness of relevant political, social, and economic developments
- Proven ability to brief colleagues and other relevant stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth research
- Proven excellent writing and research skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proven attention to detail, exceptional organisational skills, and ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
