About us

Who we are

Here at the Co-operative College, we’ve always done things differently. Born over 100 years ago out of a need for radical education that fights for social justice, our mission hasn’t changed. We’re dedicated to the promotion of co-operative values, ideas, and principles, and through education  we empower and inspire individuals, organisations, and communities to build a fairer world.

Our culture and values

Our values reflect what we are, how we do things, and where we want to be.  They are also the values shared by the global co-operative movement, made up of over one billion people.

SELF-HELP - We help each other and ourselves, joining together to make a difference.

SELF-RESPONSIBILITY - All of us doing our bit to make the College a success, taking pride in our work and stepping up to support all out activities.

DEMOCRACY - Like all co-operatives, our members have a real say in how we run.  Voting power can't be bought.  One member - one vote.

EQUALITY - Equal rights.  Equal benefits.  For everyone.

EQUITY - We are committed to fairness.  Not if, no buts.

SOLIDARITY - Together we are stronger; working co-operatively with like minded people and organisations to achieve more.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Here at the Co-operative College, we’ve always done things differently. Born over 100 years ago out of a need for radical education that fights for social justice, our mission hasn’t changed.

We are fearless thinkers, innovators and passionate about change. We are small but have big plans to make the world a more co-operative place. One where we all work together to put learning at the heart of our communities and workplaces.

We invite you to join us as we pioneer a future that benefits more than just a select few. This is education done with, not to people. It’s learning that inspires people to build a fairer world.

It’s a big, beautiful, colourful world out there and we should celebrate that. That’s why we’re working hard to be a fully diverse and inclusive place to work. Every day we strive to create an atmosphere where everyone feels valued, listened to, supported and where we can do our best work. Sure, there’s always more that can be done. But together with our team, learners, partners and community, we can make everyone welcome.

We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnicity, but as members of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) groups are currently under-represented in the organisation we particularly encourage applications from BAME candidates. The appointment will be based on merit alone.
