Financial Controller

Location: Hybrid - this role requires some working days to be in the London office, and some days working from home.

Hours 0.8 - 1 FTE, Part-time (28 hours per week) or Full-time (35 hours per week)

Contract type Temporary 3-6 months

Pay: £26.03 per hour plus £3.14 per hour holiday pay - £29.68 per hour plus £3.58 per hour holiday pay. Equivalent to salary scale - £47,369.25 - £54,010.33 (including inner London Weighting of £4,009.14)

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Financial Controller in a pivotal role. This is an exceptional opportunity within an organisation dedicated to supporting LGBT+ individuals affected by domestic abuse, sexual violence, hate crime, and other forms of abuse.

As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will play a critical role in contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation. You will be responsible for overseeing financial planning, monitoring, and reporting, with a particular focus on managing restricted funds and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Your expertise will be essential in guiding the organisation through complex financial landscapes, supporting the development and implementation of robust financial policies, and contributing to high-level strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Lead the financial accounting and reporting processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with organisational goals.
  • Strategic Input: Provide valuable financial insights and strategic recommendations to the board and senior leadership, particularly in relation to restricted funding and full-cost recovery models.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those set by HMRC, Companies House, and the Charity Commission. Implement strong policies and processes to enhance financial governance and mitigate risk.
  • Financial Planning and Cash Flow Management: Oversee financial planning processes, including the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow management.
  • Stakeholder Management: Manage relationships with external providers, auditors, and other stakeholders.

We are looking for:

  • A qualified accountant or qualified by experience senior finance professional, with a deep understanding of statutory requirements for charities.
  • Proficient in managing restricted funds and statutory funding, with a track record of successful financial planning and strategic input.
  • An excellent communicator and leader, capable of presenting complex financial information to diverse audiences.
  • Self-driven, proactive, and resilient, with the ability to navigate and lead through change.
