As Head of Development, you will be a key member of a small team. Reporting to the incoming Chief Executive, you will develop and implement the preexisting fundraising strategy and guide the organisation’s communications and PR strategy. You will inherit a strategically developed portfolio of relationships and income streams, with particular strengths in trusts and foundations, and a strong network of individual donors and scope to build corporates. There is also a small but growing legacy circle, created in response to a recent bequest of £1M+. You will line manage a small team of two: the Development & Communications Coordinator, and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator. With ambitions to expand upon NYJO’s existing work, your ability to set and achieve more ambitious targets will be essential.

Please note that this role will require occasional travel that will vary across the year, depending on the events calendar. Travel is likely to be required twice per month - please discuss with Joe Blythe at QuarterFive. 

As Head of Development, you will:

• Develop and implement the existing fundraising strategy and develop marketing and communications efforts, ensuring cohesive and impactful messaging to effectively engage donors and stakeholders
• Deliver a high standard of supporter care and relationship management tailored to the level of giving, including nurturing their successful new Legacy Club
• Manage and attend an annual series of fundraising events, from relaxed open days to formal receptions
• Oversee NYJO marketing and communications
• Line manage the Development & Communications Coordinator and the Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Ideal skills and experience: 

• Experience of securing 5- and 6-figure grants from a range of trust, statutory and/or individual sources
• Tailoring applications to appeal to a diverse range of funders/donors, which may include drawing together distinct areas of activity to create bespoke packages
• An outgoing, approachable, confident and professional manner in dealing with donors, prospects and other stakeholders
• Interest in UK Jazz and enthusiasm for working with young artists and musicians and broadening access to participatory arts for all young people

Peer Support Group Development Officer - Midlands Area

Following the successful application of a National Lottery award, we are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Peer Support Group Development Officers to set up and sustain local peer support groups for people living with and affected by prostate cancer. These roles focus on building on our established networks to expand peer support in defined areas, facilitating group formation, and enhancing service delivery through strategic outreach and resource development.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of individuals living with and affected by prostate cancer, providing crucial support through community-based initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

• Group formation and support: Oversee the setup and operation of 10-12 self-sustaining and independent peer support groups within your assigned region across the lifetime of the three-year project. Support existing group leaders and organisers to reach more people living with and affected by prostate cancer with tools and resources.
• Volunteer Coordination: Recruit, train, and support volunteer Support Group Leaders. Assist in the co-production of training materials and resources, aimed at creating self-sustainable groups.
• Community Engagement: Conduct outreach to map existing support services and facilitate the integration of these services with the peer support groups. Host local engagement events to boost volunteer recruitment.

Who are we looking for?

Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a communications role (or related field) along with excellent written skills. We are looking for a dynamic and proactive Senior Regional Engagement Manager to lead our dynamic UK field force, offering clear and supportive management to ensure high performance, and supporting our growth efforts in existing and new global markets.

As an integral part of IChemE’s management team, the role holder will represent the organisation’s key field force, supporting and driving operations through frequent liaison with other IChemE management, functional teams, member groups and committees. About Us

Founded in 2007, KHULA Education is an award-winning South African NGO working in partnership with rural schools and underserved communities in deep rural South Africa to ensure children and youth can access a quality education and economic opportunity.

Over the past 17 years, KHULA has transformed schools that were previously failing into schools that compete at the national level; supported hundreds of young people to access tertiary education opportunities; and helped hundreds more on the path to employment. Each year, we support over 6,500 children, youth and more than 300 teachers. 

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit a creative and ambitious Fundraising and Communications Officer.

As our reach and impact has increased significantly in recent years, so has our income, and this new role has been created in response to that demand.  This is an exciting opportunity for a fundraiser who wants to widen, or consolidate, their knowledge and experience of fundraising, in an international context, as well as gain communications experience.

We are a very small team so the role will cover a breadth of funding streams, with a particular focus on Trusts and Foundations, High Value Donors, and Events, both special and community.  It is therefore important that you have excellent writing and interpersonal skills, and solid experience of crafting successful funding applications.  You will also need excellent planning and organisational skills.

The role can, to some extent, be shaped by the skills and experience of the successful candidate, but it is likely to include the following responsibilities.

 Key Responsibilities

• Steward, retain and grow the support of our existing donor portfolio: KHULA has an existing portfolio of donors including trusts, foundations, corporates, major donors, individual and regular givers, the majority of whom are based in the UK or South Africa. Alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, the post holder will be responsible for managing these relationships, including bespoke reporting for trusts and major donors and taking responsibility for their own portfolio of donors.
• Donor prospecting and new business: researching and generating new donor leads as well as acting on opportunities provided by our Board and others, converting prospects into supporters of our programmes.
• ​​External communications: working alongside the Director of Fundraising and Communications, assisting in the creation of our quarterly e-newsletter and the Annual Report, managing our social media channels, in addition to other ad hoc external communications.
• Events: supporting our community and events fundraisers and assisting with the organisation of occasional special events, alongside Board members.
• Fundraising innovation: assisting in the development of creative campaigns to increase donations/recruit lapsed donors, developing products and offerings.
• Financial management and admin: maintaining our donor database and contributing to fundraising budgets and forecasts. 

Person Specification

Experience of working in a smaller charity and team is beneficial as this is a very hands-on role, covering a wide range of responsibilities.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates who demonstrate most/all of the following attributes:

• A proven, demonstrable track record of submitting successful funding applications.
• Experience in successfully fundraising from one or more of trusts, foundations, high value donors and corporates.
• Experience of community and events fundraising, including promoting events and supporting participants.
• Excellent communication writing skills.
• Personal or professional experience of a range of social media channels.
• Good IT Skills (Microsoft Office, Mailchimp, CRM systems (we use Donorfy))

This role will play a key role in delivering our ambitious policy influencing programme, helping to develop and advocate for the policy changes needed to reduce, prevent and eventually end the need for food banks in the UK. It will focus on developing Trussell policy positions in either employment support (especially for people with barriers to work) or disability and sickness benefits. The role will also lead the development and implementation of influencing plans in that policy area.

Role responsibilities

·Lead the development of policy solutions and positions

Leading the development of credible policy positions and implementable recommendations in the specified policy area - either in relation to employment support and conditionality, particularly for groups facing significant barriers to work including disabled people and single parents; or in relation to the disability benefit system, particularly Personal Independence Payments and the Work Capability Assessment.

Working with the Policy and Public Affairs, Network Operations and Participation teams to ensure our policy influencing has a robust evidence base.

Where appropriate, developing policy in collaboration with food banks in Trussell’s network and lived experience partners. Building on success of existing participatory work to ensure it is rooted in the lived experience of individuals affected by poverty. This includes ensuring an ethical approach to policy development in line with our values.

Working effectively with other expert partners to strengthen policy development and build alliances to support influencing, including project management and oversight of joint policy development and positions.

·Planning and delivering impactful policy activity

Leading the development of an influencing strategy for the policy area aligned to a theory of change. Ensuring policy outputs are timely, high-quality and support engagement with key audiences, including national and local governments across the UK. Co-ordinating responses to reactive work in areas, including policy consultations, activity in Parliament, in the media or in response to network requests.

·Developing policy narratives and key messages

Co-ordinating the development of the narrative and key messaging in the areas, maintaining a key message bank, with tailored lines for target audiences as needed.

·Representing Trussell and promoting the organisation’s policy positions to external stakeholders

Working proactively with Research, Public Engagement and Network Operations teams to identify opportunities to promote the organisation’s policy positions and recommendations to key audiences. This could include presenting at policy and campaign events, workshops with food banks and media interviews.

·Building and managing strong relationships with key external stakeholders

Developing relationships, partnerships and networks to help raise the profile, credibility and influence of the Trussell Trust and our policy positions in the specified policy area, including with relevant policy makers, politicians, civil servants, sector partners and church-related organisations working in key policy areas.

Person Specification

Technical skills and minimum knowledge:

· Track record of successfully developing policy solutions, including credible and implementable proposals in either the area of either employment support or disability and sickness benefits.

· Track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals at different levels of government.

· Track record of delivering strategic policy influencing activity based on robust evidence, from development to evaluation.

The Talent Set are delighted to be working with a fantastic charity supporting young unaccompanied refugees in England who are looking for an Interim Head of Fundraising & Communications to join their team for an initial 6 months period.

The Head of Fundraising & Communications will operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the CEO and acting as the strategic lead for the charity’s fundraising and communications activity.

Given the fluctuating nature of statutory income (currently c.75% of total income) it will be the responsibility of the Head of Fundraising & Communications to develop and implement a fundraising strategy that enables the organisation to diversify its income portfolio, ensuring a sustainable funding model that spreads risk and allows for greater donor engagement.

There is a blank canvas to be creative and try new things, with lots of scope for the successful applicant to determine where the network opportunities might lie, build long term relationships and develop an exciting programme of external communications and engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate as an effective member of the Leadership Team, working collaboratively to ensure the delivery of organisational objectives.
• Develop, lead and deliver the fundraising strategy – focused on diversification and sustainable income whilst remaining hands on in the establishment of new income streams.
• Establish clear stewardship plans for all supporters, maximising their engagement with the charity.
• Develop and implement the communications strategy – utilising external comms to engage supporters and underpin income generation whilst raising awareness about the issues faced by unaccompanied child refugees.

Person Specification:

Leading on Policy and Campaign development of the charity’s policy, your role will be to put forward evidence-based policy recommendations and campaigns and working with the people we support to influence change ensuring that the voice of the people we support is heard and acted on by key decision makers. 

Acting as the spokesperson for the Together Trust and the people it supports on policy issues you will be responsible for the following:

• Managing and developing the Together Trust’s policy and campaigns strategy in line with the Trust’s strategic long-term plan.
• Leading on the development of policy priorities with staff and the people we support. Working with them to develop a Theory of Change for the Together Trust. Working directly with the Trust Directors, Trustees and external agencies.
• Representing the Together Trust at meetings with MPs, Councillors, parliamentary groups, select committees to help drive forward Together Trust’s policy and campaigns work.
• Improving the Together Trust’s visibility in UK Parliament by attending sessions, submitting evidence and nurturing networks.
• Reporting on policy, campaigns and participation activities to the Supporting People sub-group, providing updates on activity and progress against key milestones.

We’re looking for someone who has:

• An undergraduate degree qualification (Level 6 or equivalent), preferably in a relevant discipline with a good understanding of the UK political environment, local and national government structures and decision-making.
• Line management experience supporting team members to achieve their KPIs.
• Experience of using different campaign tactics including recruitment actions and support journeys.
• Experience of speaking at events or representing an organisation in a professional setting.
