Location of work: London. Must be commutable for meetings at Westminster.The role may involve some infrequent travel throughout England and Scotland.
Contract type: Ideally full-time, 35 hours per week, although 4 days a week/flexible hours will be considered. The role will require occasional evening and weekend work.

BACKGROUND
The latest research suggesting that the number of children and young people at risk of hunger has rocketed to 2.7 million* means that one in five children don't have enough to eat. When a child is too hungry to learn, when they’re aching for something to eat, they can’t concentrate. They can’t absorb information. Big feelings and worries can be impossible to control. They fall behind in their studies.
Magic Breakfast provide a nutritious and filling breakfast to over 200,000 children and young people every school day. We work with schools in areas of high disadvantage, helping staff target the children most in need without barrier or stigma. Magic Breakfast are ambitious to grow our impact to remove hunger as a barrier to learning for all children and young people in the UK.
The new UK government’s Children’s Wellbeing Bill outlined in the King’s Speech, includes a requirement for free school breakfast clubs in every English primary school. This is a fantastic start towards ending child morning hunger. Magic Breakfast’s influence will be instrumental to ensuring school breakfasts are introduced in a way that is hunger-focused and barrier free. In 2021, the Scottish Government, pledged a not yet enacted promise to provide breakfast to primary children.
Thousands of secondary school children are at risk of losing their free school breakfasts from September next year. For many of these students, this is their only opportunity to have a nutritious meal before facing a demanding school day, including taking exams.
Solutions across all UK nations are currently either not yet actioned or are severely underserving the current need. JOB PURPOSE
Magic Breakfast’s mission is to end child morning hunger in the UK now and for good. The role of the Policy and Public Affairs Manager is to support us to deliver on this mission through influencing governments to address child morning hunger and the underlying systemic causes, in order to give every child the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Policy and Public Affairs Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping policy initiatives and influencing decision makers across Westminster and Whitehall. Specifically, you will help ensure the new Early Adopters Programme – the government’s pilot breakfast scheme in England – is hunger-focused and puts children and young people at its centre. This in turn, will inform the national rollout of primary school breakfast provision across England from September 2026 – a policy which you will also work to influence. In tandem, you will be responsible for informing and shaping how breakfast is included and positioned in the Children’s Wellbeing Bill.
More widely, you will keep abreast of political developments relevant to Magic Breakfast, identifying opportunities to respond, influence and shape the debate. You will be able to put complex policy ideas across in simple and effective terms both in person and through reports and briefings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and lead Magic Breakfast’s influencing strategy to shape and inform school breakfasts within the Children’s Wellbeing Bill

Engage thoroughly in the legislative process to shape how breakfast is positioned, to ensure the law protects and supports children and young people at risk of hunger

Influence and shape the scope of the Early Adopter’s Programme to inform long-term school breakfast policy across England

Work with ministers, politicians, civil servants and advisors to help shape the national rollout of school breakfasts across England

Identify and produce high-quality evidence-based responses to new policy developments, sector reports and consultations from Government, advisory bodies, other political parties and membership organisations

Job Title: Strategic Advocacy Campaigns Manager
Team: Communications and Campaigns

Context and purpose of role
Working closely with the Nations Directors, Policy & Public Affairs Managers, and the Communications team, the Strategic Advocacy Campaigns Manager will lead the development and execution of engaging and impactful public campaigns across England, Scotland and Wales, that inspire action, mobilise communities, and influence key decision-makers in support of our advocacy goals. The role aims to support impactful advocacy wins and bring new supporters on board while deepening connections with our existing supporters.
The role holder will focus on developing advocacy campaigns that unite issues that affect the whole of GB, positioning the Ramblers as the foremost authority on walking and as a respected political influencer. They will also support the broader communications team to implement locally focused advocacy and public affairs activities for England, Scotland or Wales where appropriate.
Key responsibilities
Campaign strategy development:
- Design and execute integrated strategic multi-year advocacy campaigns that support our shared public affairs objectives across England, Scotland & Wales to deliver meaningful impact against a common change agenda.
- Translate complex issues into engaging, accessible narratives to attract new audiences while energising loyal supporters.
- In collaboration with colleagues, identify key issues and opportunities for advocacy, fundraising, and supporter growth including where appropriate commissioning research that will create campaign engagement by addressing evidence gaps and opportunities
Campaign management:
- Work closely with the broader communications team to develop strategically aligned messaging and campaign assets and to deliver these across owned, earned and (where relevant) paid channels.
- Lead on the creation of compelling campaign assets (e.g. reports, polls, toolkits) to ensure our message reaches a wide audience.
- Project manage advocacy campaigns including managing timeframes and budgets, mobilising other teams, seeking collaboration opportunities with external partners, setting and measuring KPIs
- As required and agreed with colleagues, represent the Ramblers in public forums, media, and with key stakeholders to advance campaign objectives
- Enthuse and collaborate with volunteers, supporters, and stakeholders to amplify campaign reach and impact.
Cross-functional collaboration:
- Work closely with membership, and fundraising teams to integrate campaign efforts. Support Policy & Public Affairs colleagues to develop impactful policy briefings, position papers and fact sheets.

Monitoring and improving:
- Monitor and analyse campaign performance using key metrics and data insights.

The purpose of this role is to help plan and deliver events that provide engaging forums for key London stakeholders to generate and share ideas whilst communicating Centre for London’s messages around key policy areas and strengthening our networks. The role includes contributing to fundraising and developing ideas for new events and conferences.
Key responsibilities include:
Events delivery
- Help organise and deliver events such as report launches, private roundtables, and conferences; including preparation, delivery/logistics, and post event wrap-up.
- Help identify key stakeholders, influencers and decision makers to build relations with so we can maximise the impact of our research and activities.
- Support the External Affairs team with the delivery of larger conference events including researching and liaising with external contacts such as speakers, contractors, sponsors, venues and other stakeholders, as well as general logistics.
- Help grow the Centre’s network of speakers and supporters to ensure we meet or exceed our diversity targets.
- Work with colleagues to use processes and systems for creating guest lists, finding and securing venues, composing invitations (in Mailchimp) and administering responses (in Salesforce).
- Compose copy for the website, briefings and social media.
- Working with others to ensure key messages are communicated through events content and impact is tracked.
- Work with others to innovate and create new ideas for events and activities.
- Administer and update the events inbox and Centre for London’s website (in WordPress).
Reporting and record keeping
- Ensure that Salesforce, Centre for London’s database, is kept up to date and accurately reflects the status of relationships with stakeholders, fundraising approaches and project delivery in line with latest data protection laws.
- Maintain and improve Salesforce through adding new contacts, data cleaning, coding contacts for relationship management and proactively suggesting improvements.
- Help write impact reports for events-only projects and support with other impact reports, e.g. Trustee updates.
- Help ensure Centre for London’s calendars and master planner are kept up to date with external events.
Development and fundraising
- Work with colleagues to develop events ideas and proposals to further Centre for London’s priorities and objectives – and contribute to preparing fundraising proposals
- Proactively research and identify suitable organisations, individuals, sponsors, speakers and exhibitors interested in the Centre’s work.
- Contribute to impact reports for funders.
- Where appropriate, work with the Development Team to ensure all funders receive the benefits we have agreed with them and are communicated with regularly.

Experience and knowledge:

About the Role
We are now recruiting for a dedicated Through-the-Gate Project Worker to join our Criminal Justice and Detention Services team. This role will provide specialist support to migrant women being released from prison or detention into the London area and beyond.
The Through-the-Gate Project Worker will act as the main point of contact for referrals for women being released from prison or immigration removal centres. The role will involve managing a caseload of up to 15 migrant women who are in contact with the criminal justice system and / or under immigration restrictions, helping them to prepare for release and supporting them to resettle in the community afterwards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining effective working relationships with statutory, partner and other voluntary organisations to maximise provision of support for women being released from prison/detention. The post-holder will also work as part of Hibiscus’ Safe Homes for Migrant Women project team, to improve provision of safe and secure housing for Black and minoritised migrant women.

About You
We are particularly keen to attract talent from Black and minoritised communities and those with lived experience of immigration and/or the criminal justice system.
The successful candidate will have significant experience working directly with women affected by the criminal justice system, the immigration system, or violence against women and girls. Experience working in a prison or detention setting would be an advantage.
They will be able to demonstrate trauma-informed, gender-responsive practice and maintain clear boundaries with clients; managing challenging behaviour with empathy. The successful candidate will have experience of working in partnership with statutory and non-statutory organisations, and proven ability to engage and influence a range of stakeholders.

Job Details
In 2024, someone dies of Tuberculosis (TB) every 20 seconds. TB is the world’s deadliest infectious disease and yet very few people know it still exists. Worse still, it is entirely treatable and curable, yet each year 1.5 million people die of TB. The world’s failure to adequately address TB and other diseases of poverty is due in large part to a lack of political will.
The Parliamentary Advocacy Officer will lead the TB portfolio within the Parliamentary Advocacy Team, working alongside a Policy Officer to deliver meaningful and impactful advocacy to UK politicians and other key stakeholders to end the TB epidemic. Reporting to the Parliamentary Advocacy Manager, the post-holder will also support the wider work of the Parliamentary Team on a cross-cutting approach to parliamentary advocacy.
The Parliamentary Officer will provide the Secretariat for Parliament’s All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Tuberculosis, which works primarily through the UK parliament to push the government to improve its policies on TB and devote more resources to tackling the epidemic. The post-holder will also assume a key role in the UK Academics and Professionals Against TB (UKAPTB) network - an advocacy group of UK-based doctors, nurses, researchers and others working to eradicate TB.

Person specification

Our passionate Regional Casework Coordinators are SSAFA’s front line of support for members of the armed forces community in need. They are the first point of contact for all beneficiaries into the Regional Office, assessing needs and allocating the case to one of our volunteer caseworkers.
You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support the beneficiary. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensure that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service. You will have the opportunity to shape processes and procedures within the office which will lead to improvements in the service offered to clients.
To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA.
Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the South West region in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire or Somerset. There will be occasional travel around the South West Region, and you will be required to travel for quarterly face to face team meetings.
About the team
The team work remotely and pride themselves in maintaining a close working bond which ensures the smooth operation of the office. About the Role
Community Connectors work as part of an integrated, blended mental health offer to support people with emotional, social and practical needs to access a range of local, non-medical and non-clinical services, to improve confidence, social inclusion and independence.

We're seeking three skilled and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Young Person’s Worker. In these role, you will play a vital role in providing support to at-risk young people who are experiencing homelessness. We have roles available in our services in Islington and Waltham Forest.
Your mission: to support and empower young people to develop the lifelong tools they need to lead fulfilling lives outside the confines of traditional services. You will carry a caseload of clients who you will formulate a comprehensive support and safety plan with, which forms part of the ongoing casework, promoting independence and preparing young people for moving into independent accommodation, and employment and education.
About the Role:
As the Young Person's Worker, you will be working within a strengths and recovery framework embedded within a trauma informed approach to ensure client needs and aspirations are at the centre of the support planning process. You will be the lead worker overseeing the support and development of the young person’s needs and aspirations. You will guide and signpost the young person to the relevant statutory and non statutory services and will be key in motivating and coaching the young person to develop independent living skills.

- Your approach is creative, analytical, trauma-informed and rooted in a strengths and recovery model.

The Programme Support Administrator role will play a vital part in the smooth running of the organisation, working to support programme teams across The Diana Award with a range of administrative tasks. You will support across all programmes and areas of delivery as required, as outlined by your line manager.
Your responsibilities include answering general enquiries via phone and email, answering programme-specific enquiries, liaising with suppliers and / or distributors for resources, and any other ad hoc requirements for the smooth running of our programmes.
This is a fast-paced and busy role, which would suit someone who is highly organised, has exceptional attention to detail, understands the day-to-day management of data and is great at both written and verbal communication. You'll play a key role in giving our young people and partners life-changing experiences through training and events.
We are currently recruiting for this role on 6 month fixed contract as maternity cover. While there may be a chance that this role is extended or an opportunity for movement within the organisation after the initial 6 months, there are no guarantees of a contract extension.

Administrative Support
Act as the first point of contact for all enquiries relating to designated inboxes, via the website and phone - providing excellent customer service levels.

Support our programme teams on a range of administrative tasks which include: processing Awards applications and completing due diligence checks; supporting with the recruitment and onboarding of volunteer mentors; supporting on external events, outreach and training events; creating application forms in form-building platforms; ensuring databases and records are kept up-to-date

Support and assist across programmes, events, work streams and ad hoc projects as required.

Support Operations Directorate as required on planned or ad hoc projects.
Youth Board

Support the Youth Participation Manager in their role, which may include:

Supporting the coordination of the Youth Board meetings, ensuring all participants are informed and prepared.

Assist in onboarding new Youth Board members, including sharing induction materials and organising training sessions.

Supporting with communication between the Youth Board and Youth Participation Manager, and other stakeholders.

Supporting with travel, accommodation, or resources for Youth Board activities or events when required.
Salesforce

Support with Salesforce across teams, to be a point of contact / Champion

Provide data entry support where required to main CRM records.
Safeguarding

Reporting Safeguarding Concerns to the Safeguarding Team inline with our policies and procedures.

Completing all required reporting on safeguarding concerns (eg. MyConcern).

Respond to enquiries which are flagged as a safeguarding concern where required, the Safeguarding Team will provide the email copy and support.
In this role, you may be required to work weekends and evenings on occasion around bigger events - approximately 2 or 3 events a year
